Bowling Alley, Restaurant and Bar Spins Into Ocean Beach | Eater San Diego

"Opening this summer in Ocean Beach, OB Lanes will be a bowling alley, restaurant, and bar that expands Voltaire Beach House into an adjacent 2,000-square-foot space, taking the combined footprint to 4,500 square feet. I expect the combined property to offer more indoor and outdoor seating, another bar area, and four bowling lanes; the family-friendly venue will be available for private events and parties and will be stocked with swings, a fire pit, interactive party games, live acoustic music, and lots of sports viewing. OB Lanes will offer its own appetizer- and finger-food–based menu from executive chef Abe Botello." - Candice Woo

1st time visiting AMF. I was on vacation in Florida and joined by my friend when it was a bit of a wet evening outside. We had a great time. Atmosphere was great, staff was friendly. We only got soft drinks but the food menu look great as well. Very well maintained. Would 100% visit again if I am in the area.

This place is pretty nice overall, I must say. It's a shame that even with the AC running, I felt warm while I was there. However, everything else was quite pleasant and enjoyable. Hopefully, the temperature situation improves for future visits. I would consider going back.

This is a smoke free zone. I had to say this first because anytime that I went to any bowling alley in another state was full of cigarette smoke so I am relieved that we can come here smoke free. The music is not too loud so you get to enjoy talking to other people that you're playing with or even other players that are next door to you LOVE it HERE. Food is great Free refills on soda Also, Bowling Lanes Online Reservations Arcade Billiards/Pool On-Site Pro Shop Sports Bar Lounge Area Wheelchair Accessible ATM Free Wi-Fi This is turning into my favorite place Now this is my review.

Guys over at AMF took care of us and let my kids finish there round! It was so much fun. Lanes and atmosphere was great. Friendly bowlers. Had a blast.

Great place to pass the time, and get some competitive games going. I came on Saturday evening with some friends, and the lanes were pretty packed. There was a good crowd inside, and the place was lively. One thing to know, before 9pm the price is about $30 per person unlimited games till midnight. After 9pm the price drops to $22 for unlimited games till midnight, which both options include shoes. There's a bar area that offers some cocktails, beers and other drinks, and food too. I'll definitely will be returning in the near future again.

Google
AMF Bowling is a great place to take the kids. The lanes are clean, the staff is helpful, and they have bumpers, ramps, and lighter balls that make it easy for little ones to play. There’s also an arcade and snack bar, so the kids never get bored. Super kid-friendly and fun for the whole family.

Google
AMF Bowling in Boynton Beach is a fantastic spot for a fun night out! The lanes are well-maintained, the atmosphere is lively, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. Everyone—from the front desk to the snack bar—was helpful and upbeat, which made the experience even better. Whether you're just bowling for fun or planning an event, this place is a great choice. Can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
Looking for something to do? Family Fun day on Sundays, unlimited Bowl and shoe rental for $16.99 per person, definitely a fun time! They also have leagues for those interested! This is a throwback bowling alley . Friendly staff and food served onsite if wanted. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I met some coworkers here Friday night to play a few rounds of bowling and have some beers. The place was fairly busy; however, they had plenty of lanes. Employee behind the counter must have been new or just not paying attention as I told him I was looking for a 9 1/2 or 10 size shoe and he gave me a 11. Slightly annoyed; however, did not interact much with him. It was nice everything automatically charged to our lane. There was no need to supply a credit card every time I purchased something. Bowling alley was fairly clean; however, did not see any hand sanitizing stations. A bathroom trip was needed to wash up. The food was pretty average for bowling alley food but the bar was a nice touch. It was in my opinion the nicest part and the bartender was friendly. This bar, I was told, closed much earlier than the actually alley itself, which was a bit of a bummer. There is a fairly large arcade for kids. While not my favorite bowling alley ever it certainly got the job done.

Yelp
Very helpful management Clean and nice normal bowling experience . Cheerful feeling without the horrible music and noise

Yelp
Went for the Sunday Funday and the three of us had an absolute blast. We're not bowlers. Not even close. It looked like three people trying to have their way with a football if you know what I mean but the place is fun. Really nice diverse crowd. Lots of families. Looks like America The people on our left and on our right could not have been nicer. Beers were cold Absolutely recommend

Marcus B.

Yelp
It's an absolutely Amazing place. The General Manager Dan showed me what I was doing wrong bowling. The Operations Manager was very courteous, and nice. Another Manager Feliz, and Griffin were amazing. The food was good. There was a cook by the name of Denis that did a great job. The bar wasn't expensive. And for 5.99 a game, you can't beat that. That is the cheapest bowling center I've seen in years. Not to mention on I know Sunday nights they have unlimited Bowling for $18.18 a person and it starts at 6. All I can say is wow. They know what they're doing there. It just feels right. This is my new home. Thank you AMF.

Yelp
Worst place ever! I don't even know why I gave the place another chance. I should've went to my original spot which was Greenacres Bowling. We came on a Saturday around 2pm with our kids. $7.99 per bowler and $7.99 for shoes. There were 5 of us which is total of $80 for 1 game. The facility white and red chairs gives me an old school bowling decor vibe which was nice. A lot of elders and leagues. All of which looks like regulars. We walked to our lane and table and someone was already sitting there. Ok we asked nicely got them to move, which they did. These other customers also complained how crowded their section was. I told them I'll see if I can switch my lanes over so to give them more room. I went back up to the front desk and asked if we can switch lanes a couple isle down since there were 4/5 lanes open. The lazy guy who works there with glasses said no, just in case a large group comes in. I asked if those lanes were reserved? He said no, just in case I get a group in. I didn't understand what that meant. Ok fine. He's no help. We went bank to our lane. Started to set up our names. Our kids needs bumper rails up so I went up the front desk again. Ask if he can help set up bumpers for my kids. He said no, bumpers are either set up for the whole game or not set up at all. There is no picking and choosing on when the bumper rails can go up or down. Well alrighty. Can I just get a whole refund because we are leaving. Never again am I returning. Terrible service, balls are old and dirty, and everyone looks miserable including some of the other customers there bowling. We drive to Greenacres Bowling and OMG what a difference. $80 special for us five, includes shoes, 2 hours bowling time, a big pizza pie and a drink pitcher. I'm never cheating on you again Greenacres Bowling!!

Yelp
So, the place is pretty dilapidated, and while most bowling alleys these days are pretty "low brow", which is great, this one is missing some tlc. I got to talking with one of the owners/ people who runs it, and she was cool, very salt of the earth, and expressed frustration with the difficulties of running a place without reliable help. Digressing, I think the people who run it are great, I know there was review saying the woman is rude however, her name is probably Karen. I would love to give more stars, but the condition of the atmosphere in addition to the difficulties and errors when it came to ordering two drinks was frustrating. If they are able to find some employees who actually have a work ethic, and put a few dollars back into the place, it would be much, much better. I know you guys can do it :) That being said, still a fun place to go for a bowl.

Yelp
We went here to go bowling (6 of us). The bowling alley itself is dated but I didn't mind that. It's just that every other time that we were bowling the pin would either get stuck or the bar above the pins wouldn't work correctly. We would always have to go get someone to help. Finally, they moved us from lane 8 to lane 7 and we were ok. There were plenty of bowling balls around for people to get one that they like - different weights for all! I wish they had some hand sanitizer around because once you start to eat anything (Pizza, fries and more), you then had to put your fingers in the bowling ball and vice versa. Not exactly what I would call clean. We had fun and I did like the step and repeat that they had! That part was fun. It was a fun family activity for sure! Since I have two teens and it's difficult to find something for all of us to enjoy! (That is not just going out to dinner). The parking is easy which is a plus.

Yelp
Very nice place to spend the night bowling. I had a great experience. The staff is very helpful and polite.

Yelp
I love this bowling alley. The manager Dan is amazing!!He understands League Bowling versus fun bowling. All of the people that work there are awesome., food counter awesome, it's a pleasure to bowl at AMF Boynton Beach.

Paige D.

Yelp
Amazing time with friends for my birthday and left something there and they had kept it at the front desk which was really nice great atmosphere and a good arcade

Bella Z.

Yelp
Terrible experience here. Went for the arcade and 90% of the games don't work. Didn't know that until I bought my arcade card. That whole area looked like it was ransacked. Told the woman working at front and she didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Total waste of money.

Gissel D.

Yelp
Staff was so helpful and sweet. Manager asked how we were doing a couple times. Overall good environment definitely recommend!

Yelp
Had a good time here, was pleasantly surprised at just how clean the entire facility was. Not something I usually eyeball in these sorts of places, but a welcome surprise at that. Draft beer was fresh and staff was helpful. Not much more I need from a bowling alley than that.

Donna D.

Yelp
This bowling alley is very friendly staff is professional and gives a like feel environment. The guy Dan was very nice and attentive to the customers. He also knew a lot about bowling which is always a plus, wouldn't go anywhere else to bowl. Bar has great signature drinks, food was pretty good for a bowling alley. I also got a pizza pitcher deal and some fries that's bought to the table I miss the pool table! But overall

N H.

Yelp
Hate that my son had to experience being here; very clear that I'm not accepted. Disrespectful and nasty for no reason. Felt the tension before I even approached the counter. He did NOT want me there. Absolutely disgusting interaction with older "security" guard working the registers. No issues; was polite but he was so out of line and rude. The way he greeted me gave me immediate anxiety; spoke to me worse than an animal. Literally slammed down the menu in front of me while giving the guests in front of me respect and smiles. He didn't realize I was there with a group. Other patrons even noticed and made comments. I was so embarrassed that I preferred to just walk away. I'll be reaching out to corporate with more details. But avoid this place. Disgusting behavior; just post a sign if you don't want all types of people there.

Yelp
Only place actually in Boynton to go bowl at. The staff is not friendly. The place is run down as the reviews state but could get the job done if needed. Pricing can get expensive quick with just 3 people bowling. The other places in Delray are a lot nicer and way more friendlier staff.
google avatar

Barb T.

Yelp
We never bowled here but the place is warm & friendly. We used to the pro shop for balls & shoes . Very satisfied with service . We plan on going back and bowling at this location.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I have lived in Boynton for a very long time and I never came to this bowling alley. The outside is not so appealing but inside is very clean and the staff is very friendly. There is a nice bar area and arcade too. I will be back again.

Ariella K.

Yelp
This place is worth 0 stars. They are nasty rude people . The lady cynthia who works the front tried to scam me, well did. I came here because it said unlimited bowling on Wednesday's for $11.89 with shoes included and that's what I payed $11.89 she had the right to tell me I could only play one game meanwhile I payed $11.89. and in the flyer it says $11.89 including shoes which I payed for. When I went up to ask her to start my second game she told me that I didn't ask for unlimited bowling which doesn't make sense because i payed $11.89 and that's how much the unlimited bowling is. This lady should be fired she should only no that no matter what customers are always right. On top of all of that, her mask did not even cover her nose! You would think during these times, a customer service worker would at least wear a mask correctly.

Adam K.

Yelp
I don't mind the run down, outdated appearance or the unfriendly staff. What I take issue with is, calling in advance and upon walking up to the desk and asking the price, I was told $7 and change per bowler and another $5 and change for shoes. That's it. Only to return the shoes to find that after an hour and a half of bowling, we owed $100 for my wife, child and I to play 3 games. Not to mention the $50+ we spent at the concession stand. This place will have you feeling like you got robbed.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Zero complaints here. Staff was attentive and helpful. Shoes and equipment was clean and well maintained. Large TVs everywhere, so I could always get a glance at the NFL game. This is still a great way to have some family fun for under $50. We'll definitely be coming back.

Joe B.

Yelp
Nice bowling alley but they never have lanes during the week / when they have specials. Only time you can get a lane is Friday or Saturday night. Join a league or don't bother going during the week.

Amy H.

Yelp
Our first game the computer was giving us the wrong #s on the scoreboard . It wasn't counting our spares but was giving 7s and 8 s instead. We told a worker there and he said well I can watch so the next one it only counted 7 when there was 9 down. He said the computer takes a picture of it from the back and it will correct itself which it did not. We have no idea what we bowled so finally the worker moved us to the next lane which didn't count one of spares and one of our strikes. We finally gave up and gave up after the 2nd game . They didn't offer us any kind of compensation or discount even though we have no idea what our scores were. The new system won't allow you to fix the score either when it comes up wrong and it got messed up and wouldn't let us clear the pins to restart they had to come do it. If there was another alley close to me I would go there instead.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Super chill location with amaaaaazing burgers, best burgers I've had in a while. Staff is super attentive and down to earth.

Yelp
Striiiiikkke! I bowled three of these the other night by surprise. There was a group of 8 of us and we split up into two groups with four people being on a lane. We switched lanes each time we finished a round and it got confusing at times. Two people in our group is on a bowling league there and it was set up that way. The place is clean and it's slightly outdated. There's a food and bar area to get your hunger and thirst on. I didn't have any of the food and it's a hit or miss when it comes to bowling alley food. I've had food that was good and other times not so much. We paid $28 for two rounds and shoe rental for two people. It wasn't a bad deal and there are specials there throughout the week if you want to go on another day. Check the website for more details. The friendly staff provided great service and it was an overall a good experience. They had music going on and a pool table if you get tired of swinging a ball down a lane. I wouldn't mind coming back and giving it a second shot on a different night. Let's give it a 3.5 from me.

Ivelyne M.

Yelp
We book lanes for my kid's birthday (they're not cheap). Before I say anything bad, I like the fact that I showed up 30 minutes before the party began and the area was already set up, the food was very good and my child had fun with his friends. However, they lack big time in customer service. After the initial conversation with the "Party Hostess" and her putting down the food, we never saw her again. No one came by to see if any help was needed. I had to go to her to ask for more food to be brought out. We ran out of drinks for almost 20 minutes, we had to bring her the pitchers to ask for more drinks. If I did not see the hostess on my way out of the door, I don't think she would have known we left. I would like to give it a two star but I'll stick with the three.
google avatar

Yelp
ANY SINGLES LEAGUES HERE LOOKING FOR A TEAM MATE? Getting back into playing. I don't want to be too serious but I'm not looking for gutter balls either. Thanks. Staff was GREAT here when I went recently. It's why I want top going League here now. Thanks.
google avatar

Yelp
Go somewhere else!!!!! Wayyyyyy to expensive for bowling at a run down, half empty location on a Friday night. My husband, son and I spent almost $100 and we were only there for a little over an hour. The price per person, per game is ridiculous! Plus my son- just for fun, threw some free balls at the end of our game. The whole time the board was blank however the old man at the counter counted every ball he threw and charged us 2 additional games. Again ridiculous!! Should have known when we walked in why the place was empty on a Friday night. Stay away. Its worth the drive elsewhere for better prices and entertainment.
google avatar

Marie F.

Yelp
Sub-par bowling. They don't answer the phone even though website says to call for rates. Their special includes shoes and unlimited two hour bowling for $10.99 per person. Normally they charge almost $5 for shoes and $5 per game wtf?!? The place is old and run down. There were many families enjoying themselves but for the life of me I couldn't understand why this location. Of course I didn't eat there. Bowling alley's are known for disgusting food. But I found several groups enjoying the pizza and beers. I'm almost certain I saw a sign saying beer was $3?!? For a Busch/Bud/Miller ?!? not sure. The machines are old and raggedy. Took maybe 10 minutes to start the first time. And later the machines locked up and were forced to restart game. But one thing that should receive 4 stars - Great customer service. I enjoy myself ok. But I have no intentions of returning.

Yelp
Came here with my family and they were super efficient in problem resolution. We came to take advantage of the 2.22 deal on Tuesdays after 8pm. We had a few issues with our lane but the staff came and fixed it in a timely fashion: ball getting stuck, a pin getting stuck, my 5 year old's throw landing midway and stopping in the middle of the lane. It was a busy night, 90% of lanes were full. After we each bowled two games, they comped one of the games for the inconvenience which was awesome. They were super apologetic and nice. So, we went back the following week and enjoyed no problems with an equally stellar experience. Drinks were cheap (from Boston standards) and the blonde hair bartender lady is always very friendly and nice. We come to Boston a few times a year and stay up the street from this joint, and will definitely be back! I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about! Also, tip the staff! And they'll always remember you and make sure you're taken care of!
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
$2 Tuesdays! $2 per person, $2 per game, $2 per pitcher. I came in on a Tuesday to take advantage of this great offer. I must disclose I'm a horrible bowler---quite possibly on the top 25 worst list but I enjoyed myself none the less. The bowling alley is clean, the music choice is good and the employees are readily available. Great place to hang and enjoy bowling with friends. There is also a league with varying skill levels if you'd like to touch up on your bowling skills.
google avatar

S H.

Yelp
Attended a benefit supporting animals here last night. Let's just say this will be the last year myself and the group of twelve attend. First, the bowling alley itself is rundown, dirty, and antiquated. Second, the prices on alcohol are outrageous, for example - $20 for a bucket of five beers, $13 for a pitcher. I mean, Atlantic Ave. in Delray Beach doesn't have these prices. And lastly, there was no one cleaning tables, the floors, etc. It's sad the management couldn't organize a better environment for this great cause. Typical Boynton Beach . . .
google avatar

Maurice A.

Yelp
Had a small problem using a groupon but manager Feliz stepped in and made it right with some kindness. Can't thank her enough for being real. Looks like she has a really hard job, so I send my appreciation her way.

Ross B.

Yelp
Reading theses reviews about lady at the front desk bothers me. I havent known her past a few months but I think shes super fast, always busy, and very nice. I frequent the place often as I'm an avid bowler. They are severely, severely understaffed. She's has little to no help there EVERY time I'm there. She's been awesome to me and my teammates. The place is ALWAYS spotless clean too.
google avatar

Richard K.

Yelp
Its not the sexiest bowling alley, but it is a rocking alley in its own right. They have good, efficient service. Plenty bowling balls, adequate arcade, and classic horrible bowling food adorn AMF. Now,now folks never complain about food at an alley or subsequent places where it is common knowledge they are serving poop on a plate. AMF is no different, but I expected that so they will not be punished for fitting the norm. I am done digressing. The real charm of this place is FREE BOWLING MONDAY NIGHT after 10PM for STUDENTS/ ORGANIZATIONS. So if you have been out of college for a few years like me, it is time to dust off your student ID and head to AMF to bowl that turkey.
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
Just moved to the area, and decided to get a night out with family. Since my son loves bowling we headed here. When you walk in there is a sign that says FACE MASKS REQUIRED. 85 % of people were NOT wearing masks. When I asked woman in front about this she said people are allowed to take off when they get to their lanes. Wrong. I told her there were people eating and walking around without masks. She then said it's hard to manage with only two people working. THEN, her colleague comes behind desk and HIS mask is below his nose! They did not clean the balls, so there were probably germs in every single one. In other places I have been to they have someone give you the ball after it is cleaned, and you cannot touch. The lanes were not good, extra slippery, which means the balls did not curve as the should. This is obviously a place just for casual bowlers. Then, when there are so many lanes available, they put people right next to us who were not wearing masks. With so many open lanes I have no idea of the logic behind this. If you are not mask conscious, and just want to hang with friends, this is probably place for you. If you like to bowl for fun, and have good times with friends, and are covid and mask concerned, STAY AWAY. Finally, VERY expensive. $70 for two games, four people, three shoes.
google avatar

Ian R.

Yelp
Poor lighting, dingy boring place. We walked in and after a dismal greeting by the clerk, we left. Prices aren't competitive either.
google avatar

Angela K.

Yelp
The crowd is predominately 70 years old plus or under 10 years old. The staff are unfriendly jerks, even the older woman was extremely rude! The food sits around all day and is incredibly overpriced for convenience snack food. All that said, I actually had a really great time here on one of Florida's all too common rainy days. They have an all you can bowl deal until 5pm for only $10 a person. If you have a weekday off, this could be a great deal! I can't bowl for longer than two hours without getting bored and tired, but it was still well worth it for me to not have to worry about the time or number of games we were playing. They had plenty of shoes, plenty of balls in many weights and sizes and quite a few lanes. The staff here may suck, but if you come when they have a deal, its still a good rainy day option since there is not a whole lot to do in this neighborhood.
google avatar

Aaron K.

Yelp
Staff was friendly for the most part. Food was promptly prepared and served. The bowling technology is definitely dated. The pin setter got jammed a couple of times. The house balls looked liked they had been rolled down the street for a couple of miles. 2 hours and 3 pair of shoes cost us $50 on a Sunday That is pretty rough.
google avatar

Nicole K.

Yelp
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The facility could definitely use some updating but overall, is nice enough for a game of bowling. The pricing is higher than what I would expect from a small bowling alley like this one but was not outrageous. The group I was with and I had fun bowling and eating some of the food they had to offer. The food was typical fast food: not great but decent enough to eat. Overall, it is not the best place I have been to but it did a good enough job that I would recommend it.
google avatar

sebastian T.

Yelp
Went here with some friends and family for some afternoon bowling. The kids enjoyed some pizzas, was a little disappointed they don't offer pitchers for drinks!?? But other than that it's a nice place with a little arcade Incase bowling's not your thing. Oh and there's a bar for the adults.
google avatar

Cori N.

Yelp
Bowling alley is small but gets the job done, what is crazy and something we totally werent expecting was the outrages prices. We bowl often at strikes in Boca and do it for half the cost if not a third and its a nicer facility. One pizza and 5 drinks $50, shoe rentals for 3 $17 then we thought it was $5 a game it is, but heres the catch, its per person, per game!! We got two lanes and had 4 on each played two rounds extra $50 per lane. We came up to be more central to family to meet us in west palm but next time well drive further or spend that type of money at the new fancy ones they have around the county. Oh and keep in mind this is on a Monday afternoon!! I was floored by the prices here.
google avatar

Machine C.

Yelp
Bowling. Very traditional lanes with no gimmicks. If price is a concern, these are not the cheapest lanes. But the lanes are well oiled and rental gear is great quality. I will continue to visit.

Alex R.

Yelp
Its a great place but the prices are insane. Too expensive for the type of place it is. Strikers at Boca its alot more nice and more affordable.

Dylan Y.

Yelp
This is the worst bowling alley I have ever visited. The customer service was awful and they ripped me off. I recommend nobody going here until they fix how they run things.

Angel S.

Yelp
Great bowling alley! Very clean, fun atmosphere, friendly staff, yummy food and tasty drinks.

Katie R.

Yelp
Note: I walked in here totally sweet and respectful and sober. If I could give 0 stars I would. Just walked out of here because I'm TWENTY FIVE years old and was denied service because they wouldn't accept my entirely valid New York State Driver's License. I showed business cards, a debit card (which I paid with) and a credit card, all with the same name and was still denied. The hick bartender went to the hick assistant manager, who then went to the assumingly hickish General manager and all three idiots agreed that because my ID didn't look like theirs, I wasn't worthy of what I'm assuming is a Coors Light or Budweiser, which I imagine are 2 of the 3 beers they serve. Oh, and by the way, if you're going to let me PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD WITH THAT NAME ON IT, that card, in conjunction with my ID, should be enough to prove the validity of my ID. Obviously. You idiots. How are you going to believe the name on the credit card is mine but the one on the matching ID is not? Idiots. All of them. I shoulda offered them $100 to serve me --- except I bet they've never seen a $100 bill and wouldn't accept that either. Rant over.
