Yelp
Amicas was on my "must try" list after all the hype I had heard about this spot. So, after getting settled into our Airbnb, my husband and I walked over to see what the fuss was about.
SPACE: Located off Main Street (aka F Street), the restaurant is easy to spot, has ample street parking nearby and features a large outdoor deck out front - with white strung lights hung overhead - creating the perfect spot to dine on a summer night! While it was a balmy 25 degrees the night we stopped in, we sat in the spacious dining room adjacent to the bar. Plants line the large windows, and the recently renovated space feels cozy, cute and exudes the relaxed Friday night vibes we were looking for!
SIPS: Being that it was 7:45PM, I was ready for a cocktail - or 5. I opted for a glass of crisp Pinot Grigio, which arrived within minutes. The perfect (7oz pour) was in a cute stemless glass and hit the spot. My husband chose to sip on a house made Root Beer, which was perfectly balanced and oh, so good! Also, on the menu - a variety of drafts/cans/bottles of local brews, crafted cocktails, sodas, tea and more!
SUSTENANCE: The menu is massive, features just about every option under the sun - traditional, veggie, meat heavy, local favorites for pizza, calzones, fancy salads, pastas, soups and more! BUT Amicas is known for their pizza - and delicious ones at that. While other reviewers weren't fans of the sizing of their pizza - the small and large options are actually perfection. The small is essentially a personal size pizza and the large isn't massive, but still feeds 2 hungry adults. Completely overwhelmed by the menu and not wanting a ton of leftover food (because let's face it, I wanted to eat all of Sailda), we chose to split a large #16 - The Classico - which was loaded with Marinara, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, ground beef, diced green peppers, olives, mushrooms, fresh mozz and topped with oregano. I'm so NOT a beef fan on pizza so we chose to sub beef for pineapple - because, yes it belongs on pizza and my husband is obsessed with it - which was the perfect addition! Everything came out quickly, piping hot, and so good! On thin crust, the pizza tasted divine, full of flavor and had the perfect crunch. YUM! We also got a side Ceasar salad, which was nothing to write home about, but a decent accompaniment to the meal.
** GF and low-calorie options are also available! woohoo!
When back in the quaint town of Salida, I'll easily return here to get my pizza fix!
