Attended a friend’s baby shower here, and it was a lovely experience. The event hall is well-suited for intimate gatherings of around 15–20 people. Lunch was served as a three-course meal and exceeded expectations — starting with a pasta dish, followed by a light salad, and finishing with a flavorful chicken Francese. Some of my friends ordered the salmon and mentioned it was exceptional as well. I truly enjoyed both the food and the overall event. Highly recommended for small get-togethers.

We were sat promptly even though they were busy so that was nice. We thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers, mussels and mushrooms. My husband said his pasta was okay, but mine was unfortunately not that great. I'd give a higher rating but at first they charged me for an uneaten meal until I asked if that could be changed. Service was busy so I say this gently but I did have to ask three times for a refill. Which is whatever, but the experience just wasn't ideal for us. Would not return.

Google
Absolutely phenomenal. Would give 20/5 stars if I could. No reason to lookin around for another Italian restaurant. This one is unbeatable. Worth every penny and then some.

Google
Food was excellent..only reason for the 4 star is the the gravy on the steak and mushroom is a little salty and one of our order wasn't cooked as preferred. Medium but it was over cooked

My family and I have been coming to Amici’s for about 18 years and every meal has been exceptional. The service is always fantastic and the food is excellent. It’s the perfect spot for classic Italian food! I highly recommend the French martini and the chicken amici(it’s my go to every time)!

Cutting to the chase here, Amici’s is the premier dinner dining experience on Howe Ave, possibly all of Shelton, maybe even the whole of the valley. In the attached photos I got one of their specials, filet mignon, and for dessert their salted caramel cheesecake. I’ve also had almost all of their appetizers, my favorite of which is eggplant rollatini, I can decisively say they make the best version of that dish I’ve ever had. Amici’s is an incredibly beautiful restaurant adorned with lovely paintings and furnished with opulent decor. The food here has never disappointed me, and I truly think you could order off this menu at random and be satisfied with what you get. To further sing its praises the staff are some of the best I’ve had the pleasure of being served by as well. Fantastic work Amici’s, you receive many kudos from me.

We celebrated my husband's birthday today at Amici's. We had made a reservation in advance for a large group — 14 adults and 8 children aged between 2 and 10. We did our best to keep the kids seated and calm, but as any parent knows, kids will be kids. Unfortunately, instead of understanding, we received repeated remarks about the children. We waited quite a long time for our food, and the dessert took over 40 minutes to arrive. By then, the kids were tired, and we just wanted to finish and leave. When we approached the manager to ask about the delay, he started yelling at us — literally yelling — because four of our guests had arrived late (due to unforeseen circumstances) and because of the children’s behavior. He even told us that we should be grateful he agreed to take our reservation on a Saturday evening. This completely ruined the celebration for my husband. The food was delicious, and our guests enjoyed it, but the way the manager treated us was extremely disappointing. It’s a shame, because the night could have been lovely if we had been treated with a bit of patience and understanding.

My favorite date night spot! This is easily one of my boyfriend’s and my go-to places. The food is incredible, and I always order their penne alla vodka with chicken—it never disappoints. Everything is homemade, and the authenticity of their Italian cuisine shines through in every bite!

Yelp
Hidden gem. Came here to celebrate my daughter's baptism. There was 27 of us with 3 infants and a toddler. Everything was perfect. Prior to the event I spoke on the phonr with owner/manager and he was pleasant and planning the event was super easy. Food was delicious. We did apps, pasta course, salad and main course. The vodka sauce was incredible, people were practically licking their plates. I always get veal parm when it's an option at Italian restaurants and this was cooked perfectly. Drinks were delicious. I got a french 75 and my husband the old fashioned. What impressed us the most was the service. I feel like alot of times restaurants stick one or two servers to a party of our size and expect them to survive. We had 4 servers who were very attentive. Water was constantly replenished and drink orders were always being taken. The gentleman who seemed to be in charge (possibly manager?) went above and beyond to accommodate us. He brought out a pasta and meatball dish for the toddler who had allergies. He even brought it out before everyone else so that the mom could assist her toddler before having her own meal. We brought out own cookies and cake. He distributed cookies to each table and even asked if i wanted to get pictures of the cake before he cut it. Which was super thoughtful. He also passed out the party favors to every guest for us. All of my guests kept commenting on how much they loved the establishment and how great everything was. Highly recommend for an event! i hope to return soon.

Yelp
DO NOT COME HERE! I came here with my family, one day because we were given a gift certificate. First of all the people in there have a bad attitude, Second there could be zero people there and STILL ask if you have a reservation, Third the Waitress we got was wearing a whole bottle of her perfume and would keep Reaching over us and her perfume would got ON THE FOOD! AND Fourth I got a steak cooked well done when I specifically asked for it to be cooked Medium. And the parking is horrible, Also the Price is crazy for a steak $48 dollars! insane. and Finally the place is very boring like no Theme at all! Please take your money somewhere else.

Yelp
The service was good, lovely servers, and the food was delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was romantic and just welcoming overall, I recommend this place for a celebratory dinner, a date night etc; this is definitely a hidden gem in Shelton CT and I will be excited to come back for more!

Yelp
I've been coming here for years with my family, but it's been awhile- probably 3-4 years. And much of the things I commented on in my previous review have just continued and gotten worse- namely the service. Just as I said before, you somehow have like 3 waiters and yet no waiters at all. When I tried to give the man I thought was our waiter our appetizer order, he cut me off mid sentence to tell me to order with another guy (the owner). He was brusque and rude and made fun of me for not understanding what was happening with the owner. After ordering, we sat and waited for our food for forever. My elderly father who has to take medication repeatedly tried to get someone, anyone's attention and they steadfastly ignored him. When the owner finally dropped our food my dad tried to engage him in conversation about a mutual friend and when I said my dad was this person's brother he cut me off and said that wasn't his brother he knows his brother- to which I replied I know I was attempting to say brother in law (but he rudely cut me off before I could finish the sentence!). I have absolutely no patience for restaurants who act like they are doing you a favor by letting you dine there. The service was just appalling. Add that to the fact the same dishes they've been serving have had a 30% price markup and somehow taste worse- when I visit home I'll be asking my parents to take me elsewhere. Ps I had the special and the white sauce was thin, runny and had almost no flavor. The sole tastes overwhelmingly like lemon and the bolognese was boring and uninspired.

Yelp
This is our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. The food is consistently delicious and quite authentic. We just came back from Italy on Monday and went to Amici's for a late lunch on Saturday to celebrate our anniversary. It did not disappoint. We shared the Orrechiette with mushroom ragù and we each had a veal dish. Everything was spot on. The service is professional and attentive. Always a good choice.

Yelp
Until last night I hadn't eaten here in a long time. The staff was very friendly and professional and our appetizers & dinners were outstanding. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
We haven't been to Amici's in years-no reason other than proximity. We recently passed by, and the holiday decorations were so enticing and beautiful, we made reservations. The ambiance is as cozy and welcoming as we imagined. Sitting at a table in the bar, we were greeted promptly, and the starting cocktails were perfect (I appreciate a martini in a coupe glass!) Service was outstanding, and special requests were honored. The hot foods were piping hot, which is a must for me. We agree that we'll be visit again soon, and hopefully often!

Christina E.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Authentic Italian dishes with fresh ingredients. The service was also really great. They were so attentive and friendly.

Yelp
Underwhelming and overpriced. Came here on a Saturday night when our first choice was too busy. Service was very good. Drinks were subpar. I ordered a Negroni at an Italian restaurant and it was the worst one I've ever had. It basically tasted like gin with a splash of Campari. The meatballs were good. My steak was overcooked and served alongside sloppy wet scalloped potatoes and vegetables that appeared to be out of a Swansons bag with no flavor. The menu is boring and uncreative - same old boring things on every menu - but everything is overpriced. Highly doubt we'd ever come back here.

Yelp
First time here, came for a holiday get together. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had a leisurely dinner and did not feel rushed at all. All of our menu choices were amazing. We had the fettuccine carbonara, penne ala vodka and the special scallop and shrimp ala vodka. I asked for a special dish of rigatoni fra diavolo it was perfect. If you're looking for a more upscale Italian restaurant, then this is the place.

Ryan S.

Yelp
Amici's is a wonder restaurant and a regular go-to for us. We enjoy the consistency and quality service. There cutlets are some of the best I've had. I recommend the Milanese for sure. The ambience is an old-world style Italian restaurant with a decent size bar.

Yelp
absolute best place in Shelton. Clients of mine come all away from Westport and Oxford and can't speak highly enough about this little gem on the corner of a busy road. The Owners are the most wonderful people who walk around and make sure everybody's doing their job and are happy. Their polenta and risotto side dishes are the best anywhere. Everything is fresh and the delivery is perfection. the only bad experience I had was sitting at the bar and the bartender (seems to be there all the time and I think he's even running the bar) was really rude and said " don't talk to me,Just tell me what you need I'm busy" My husband and I absolutely couldn't believe it !! So now we try to reserve a table rather than sit at the bar

Yelp
Had another solid meal at Amici's. Service was excellent and the food was pretty good. It's as comfortable and charming as ever. We had a larger group and it was a fantastic time. Will happily return!

Yelp
This restaurant has been on my list for a while and I finally got to go! It is such a beautiful restaurant inside, and out! It is on the fancy side but I'm a firm believer, that you don't need to have a special occasion to experience a great restaurant. My bestie and I came here and we had a great time! We ordered the eggplant rollatini to start off with and wow was it delicious! For the entree I ordered the chicken Scarpellio, which was on the specials menu. It was perfect! Full of so much flavor! The portion size was great too! I had leftovers the next night for dinner. The restaurant itself is very clean. I love the dim lighting and the service was amazing! Great staff, great restaurant! Oh and tasty wine!!
google avatar

Yelp
Upscale in price, but food overall was "just ok". I was very UNIMPRESSED with the cesar salad and the fact that, especially for an upscale place, they didn't have fresh parm cheese, or any fresh pasta dishes. The rigatoni bolognese was ok to good, but I've had much better, particularly for the price. Overall, i wouldn't say this place is bad, just way overpriced for mediocre food. I don't plan on going back. Instead, I recommend Tipsy Tomato in Derby, Albertos in Seymour, or Consiglios in New Haven.

Yelp
Charming and cozy Amici's is a gem in the heart of Shelton's small downtown. The service and food are wonderful. The environment gives the classic Italian vibe. I do wish they had happy hours and mix up the menu. But it's overall a great place for dates or small gatherings.

Yelp
Great restaurant in Shelton. We popped in for a laser lunch and had mussels in red sauce and clams cooked with bacon and lemon. Both appetizers were cooked nicely and seasoned well the seafood was very fresh. The chicken sorentino was very good too the sauce paired well with the chicken and the prosciutto. The salmon was cooked just right and the caper sauce was amazing. We also had Moscow mules which were very tasty too. Parking is a bit rough as it is street only (if u pro in lot across street you get towed) Service was very good and on target They take credit card

Cleo K.

Yelp
The Clams casino is the BEST I've ever had. I also ordered penne with scallops and shrimp which was excellent. Their Martini's are also the best.

Yelp
Totally forgot to write a review after my return from visiting my family in CT...here we go! This is officially my favorite *RESTAURANT* In Shelton, Connecticut /surrounding areas. It encompasses every element I look for when I am dining in general. Food is A+ See my photos as its been a bit since my return but the fish dishes are amazing, pasta was perfect and the anti pasto was excellent Wine A+ Extensive wine list AMAZING Manhattan's Service A+ Spectacular, attentive, authentic and genuine. Environment A+ LOVE LOVE Feels like a large Euro bistro with ample seating inside as well as whimsical outdoor seating surrounded by beautiful plants/flowers in an otherwise 'disenchanting ' street. VERY few restaurants in the area can reflect even 2 of the elements above so this is indeed a great find!

Yelp
Another amazing meal at Amici's. Everything from appetizer to dessert was perfection. Service and Ambiance are stellar. The veal chop Parmesan is always delicious. Cocktails and wine offerings are great. You cannot go wrong with dinner at Amici's.

Yelp
from our first foot in the door to paying the bill, this rest was amazing. the wait persons were quick and attentive, making note of our young child and interacting with him in a natural and positive way. the meal was delicious and there was an impressive array of beverages. we were from out of state and will highly recommend it.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at and I've been to a few. This restaurant is right up there with Blackstone and Fleming's in West Hartford

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat. I have been here at least 75 times and I have never had a bad meal. Every single dish is excellent. Neighbor gem!

Yelp
Good authentic Italian food . Great for any occasion whether it's date night or family time . The desserts are all delish. Highly recommend it .

Yelp
Local italian place. Great place to come by for a quick bite to eat after work or when too tired to cook! I normally get the chicken Milanese piccata, mushroom ragu pasta with truffle oil. Dessert is ok too - check out the chocolate lava cake.

Yelp
Great Italian spot in the heart of downtown Shelton. Friendly staff, great specials and authentic food!

Yelp
The best Italian food around, when we are in CT. I loved my eggplant parmesan and salad. Service was great!

Yelp
The food is amazing, but the service is only average. My wife and I sat at the bar, and even though it was not crowded, we felt rushed. Parking is also a challenge.

Yelp
We went here early for a quick bite - not a long dinner. The apps - meatballs and eggplant rollatini were nice and we opted for a side of pasta- probably one of better Italian spots in the area. The space is very nice and we usually stay in the bar The service was slow to initially wait on us - but overall was decent, and I was shocked to pay $9 for a Sam Adams draft - thus keeping review at 4 star.

Yelp
We live within walking distance so we have been dying to try this place because we have heard good things. We went on a Saturday night as a walk in and we waited 40 minutes to be sat. That was 100% our fault, we should have made a reservation as they were so busy. Something that did not affect us was that I did notice the people who did make reservations were still waiting 20+ minutes once they have gotten there. What is the point of a reservation?? We sat down and were given water and bread. The bread was awful and super hard. We waited another 20 minutes to even order. The waiter was so busy that he was just plopping stuff on peoples table without saying anything. I literally seen some of the staff jogging around the place. They severely understaffed this place which makes them look very bad. When people see a waiter busy out his ass they refrain from asking for stuff and making conversation, the things that make or break your dining experience. It was so loud in there that I couldn't even hear my boyfriend talk to me. Then it took 40 more minutes for our food to come. I ordered the Clam Posillipo. I was served clams in their shell with linguine sitting in a bowl of clam water. Not even sauce, water. The portion was pretty small too. After all that we paid over $80. Extremely disappointed in our experience.

Yelp
I had dinner with my husband on a Thursday night during the COVID. All staff wore masks and the tables were spaced so that everyone had room. We were seated upon arrival at a high top table next to the bar which had the stools removed and were greeted warmly by staff. We ordered a bottle of wine and were served warm crispy bread to nibble on while we perused the menu. I ordered a small arugula salad and the chicken breast special which was two pan seared breasts with Prosciutto, roasted red peppers, mushrooms then finished with mozzarella and a cognac demi glaze and served with roasted potatoes. The small salad was fresh and crispy with a nice vinaigrette. It was large enough to share. The chicken was perfectly cooked and tasty with some great flavors. I ate half as it had two chicken cutlets which would be fine for a large eater. Phil had sole Florentine which did not disappoint. The two sole filets were fresh and perfectly cooked served over a large portion of tasty spinach. The service was fantastic, the restaurant was clean and we felt comfortable sitting inside. The outside dining area is located on the sidewalk out front. The awnings and trees made it quite comfortable. The price is rather high but they have half the seating capacity as normal and so I recommend Amici's restaurant for a romantic dinner and a place to eat with friends.

Yelp
Interesting place on the main drag (Howe Street) in Shelton. Pity that the commercial stores around are for lease. AMBIANCE- very classy looking inside with a very cute front for outdoor seating. Albeit only 4 tables. We went rather early in the evening. More like late afternoon. The lounge was available as there was a party finishing up in the dining area. SERVICE - no one greeted us and we poked around to get a table but our waiter was EXCELLENT and super attentive. Gave great suggestions and reviewed specials with us. WINE - list was not extensive but they had some decent choices from California both red and white. I tried the pino noir instead of usual Cabernet. The pino was decent just a bit thin and slight after taste. APPETIZERS - as a bench mark tried the broccoli rabe and was pleasantly pleased. No bitterness and served with sausage and cannoli Beans. GREAT dish only comment is the broccoli was a bit to al dente. Wife had panne cotte which was excellent. One tip appetizers are large in size so come hungry ENTREES - I went with the steak au proive that was great. I usually don't get beef but wanted to see what kind of pepper sauce they had. Very pleased with the taste. Wife had a pork chop dish that was EXCELLENT it was filleted and pounded thin, breaded and super moist. A winner. PARKING - can be challenging but manageable PRICE - not inexpensive but with large portions it offers value. Spent $120 for 2 people including tax and tip

Yelp
A FAVORITE! Food, service & ambiance are top-notch. Have been many times, usually for special occasions ~ will return again & again! Last night we shared a huge mound of TENDER CALAMARI, cooked to perfection & Veal Marsala for my birthday! I even got a candle in my salted caramel cheesecake and the wonderful singer did "Fly Me To The Moon" for me
google avatar

Manda L.

Yelp
Wow! Go here. Like yesterday. My fiancé and I went here for the first time tonight and I couldn't wait to Yelp about our experience. It's Friday night and the place is very busy. The ambience/decor was reminiscent of Italy. Upscale with white table clothes, but not so much that you feel out of place wearing jeans and a sweater. Throughout our time, we were waited on like kings and queens. The water was constantly refilled. When our bread ran low, it was automatically addressed. What I found to be the most amazing was how fast and hot the food arrived despite the busyness. That was mind-blowing for me. Saving the best for last: the food was out of this world! I ordered the chicken Milanese piccata, and I was talking about how good it was from my first bite to my last. For an appetizer we got the eggplant rollitini, and for dessert the layered chocolate mousse. I mean, wow. Everything was outstanding. We keep talking about this being our new favorite place. So I'm telling you, go here please.

Yelp
"I cleaned the bowl" My wife took me to Amici's for my birthday. It was our first time there and we were very happy we picked this restaurant for my birthday celebration. My stepson and his girlfriend joined us. The restaurant is beautiful inside. Exposed brick walls, plenty of wood trim and paintings of Italy made it feel comfortable and inviting. We began with perfectly crisp and tender fried calamari and delicious eggplant rollatini. My wife had the rigatoni bolognese for dinner. Their bolognese is one of the best we've ever tasted. My stepson had the penne alla vodka. His girlfriend had the penne alla vodka with shrimp and scallops. She let me taste it and it was amazing. I had the Cioppino. Clams, mussels, calamari, sea scallops, shrimp, and the fish of the day simmered in a tomato and fennel shellfish broth served over risotto. Everything about this dish was incredible. It was so good that I cleaned the bowl. I didn't leave one speck of all that goodness. After dinner my wife went to use the ladies room, but she also snuck over to the waiter to let him know that it was my birthday. They surprised me with a piece of teramisu with a candle and the singer, Pasquale, sang Happy Birthday to me. Pasquale also sang "My Way" by Frank Sinatra to me. This is a great great restaurant.

Yelp
Recently had dinner here with my family. The food here is good but the service can be spotty when they are really busy. I feel like they need another body working the floor on busy nights. Recommend the hot antipasto and cold antipasto for appetizers. The meatballs are just okay. I would pass on those. Entree portions are huge...a lot of food. Chicken piccata was very good. Came with a side of polenta and broccoli rabe. Wife has the penne ala vodka with scallops which were just okay. Kids enjoyed their chicken parm dinners. Limoncello marscapone cake for dessert was a pleasant surprise. Very tasty.

Yelp
This place has always been a favorite of mine but no more. Our party of seven was seated after my Aunts funeral and we figured that we would have a nice quiet evening to eat and chat. That never happened. Instead a ridiculously loud singer dominated the entire evening. We had to scream at each other to be heard and often that didn't work and so our rare family gathering was completely ruined. This loudmouth didn't take a single break in over 2 hours and was still going strong when the place was almost empty. Unless this guy gets the boot I won't be returning. The food was still good but it wasn't worth the aggravation. I left there enraged and had a headache to boot. Never again!
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
Nothing impressive our food was just ok. We went there to try it with a Groupon. They refused to honor it, and said they never signed on with Groupon for anything, ever. Really? Groupon just picked your restaurant randomly to fraudulently sell a Groupon for your restaurant? A politician must own it The service wasn't anything special. The waiter didn't ruin our meal, but never made any attempt to make up the Groupon lie, with service with a smile or to be extra nice. Prices are out the wazoo, more than most places. Just not worth the trip, in my opinion. If they'd handled the Groupon more professionally, I may have gone back. I buy Groupons not necessarily to save the $$, it's really not that much. It's to explore restaurants I haven't been to, gives me a reason to open up and try new.

Yelp
Classic and sophisticated Italian restaurant. Large dining room with nice artwork. Very good food and healthy portions. Only "issue" was it felt like too many people were servicing our table. Tough to tell who the lead server was. But all in all, very good place and I was impressed.
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant. Top-notch service. Makes you feel like you were on a cruise ship with high end staff. I had the best penne alla vodka of my life

Kate A.

Yelp
I'm really annoyed. I had never tried this place and just dropped two bucks short of $40 bucks on the soggiest, nastiest pane cotte, soggiest mushiest garlic oil pasta, and the most tasteless penne alla vodka. I eat out every day as my kitchen is being redone and I don't write many reviews even though I have lots of good and bad meals. This was exceptionally bad. I couldn't eat any of it and wasted $40.00. Very, very annoyed. The bread in the panne cotta was as if it was submerged in a pool for a month. It's supposed to be crispie and wet / half and half but not completely submerged and water bloated. I wouldn't have written the review if the escarole and beans at least tasted good or okay, but it was all gross. Not just the soggy bread. Every thing I ordered was mushy and tasteless.

Yelp
The atmosphere of this restaurant makes you feel welcome- to the modern brick wall design, corks in the vases, and warm white lights. The staff was EXTREMELY attentive and friendly, not sure if it was because there were only three other tables within the restaurant with patrons, or this was routine. This establishment offers indoor and outdoor dining. There are heaters provided outdoors. They are also within the COVID guidelines - the staff wore masks, and sanitizer is available throughout the restaurant. Parking is limited. Now for the food... Appetizer - Hot Antipasto for 2, which consisted of clams casino, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp, and fried calamari. The calamari was lite, fluffy, and not overcooked, the same for the clams casino - wishing we had ordered a whole plate, the gulf size shrimp and stuffed mushrooms were a pure delight. Lunch Menu - just the right size for lunch & prices were within reason. Orecchiette Siciliano, Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Shrimp, and Scallop Alla Vodka, and Salmon Picatta. They also served warm crispy bread several times throughout our lunch. Everything was delicious we were hoping we had come for dinner because we could have eaten more; it was so good - our stomachs would have been really full. I would recommend this restaurant, and we would be sure to return in the future.

Tony F.

Yelp
Been here 4 times. Always pleasant friendly service. Prices are reasonable and the food is very good. What else can you ask for? The place is a home run. All the. Dishes done right and tasty

Kate M.

Yelp
It's unfortunate that the service was so terrible because the food was decent. We had a reservation, yet we were rushed through our dinner like nothing I have experienced. My bread plate was taken from me as I was literally dipping it in the olive oil, appetizers were taken before finished, and dinner plates cleared without being asked. The whole thing felt rushed and stressful with little to no engagement from our waiter. Frustrating to pay for an expensive dinner and feel this way.
