"The brown building of this Bryan standby isn’t much to look at, but diners focus on red sauce Italian mainstays like shrimp diablo and bucatini bolognese. Takeout orders can be placed over the phone; there are indoor dine-in services." - Brandon Watson

Google
Celebrated my sister birthday, the service was good, and the servings large. It's a nice cozy spot will definitely come back for a date night with my husband. Oh and the garlic knots so yummy!

I am not a big Italian fan, but my friends like the cuisine, so I went here. The food is not to my liking, but that's because I am not a fan of this cuisine. However, I can tell that I ate Italian food at my friends place that cooks good Italian food and that tasted much better than this place, so, I am only giving this place a 3 star. I am guessing that this is more like Americanized Italian, where all the tastes are dulled down. I like food that challenges my taste buds. The staff was friendly, but note that the ambiance is kind of dark themed with low lighting. The soup was excellent and I would strongly recommend it.

Google
Hosted a rehearsal dinner here and it was fantastic! The team made it easy to reserve and plan the dinner, and were flexible and generous with unexpected changes and dietary restrictions. The banquet room was perfect for our group and even has an easy to use projector for videos. The service was prompt and efficient and the food was excellent. We had people still complimenting it over a week later. This is a great restaurant that truly cares about its customers.

I went for a medium graduation party. It was a warm Christmas welcome with seating to the left and the bar and intimate seating straight ahead but tucked into the restaurant. The spaghetti and meatball was alright, the chicken linguine was said to be good. The pizzas were crispy and cheesy and the calamari was nice. The Pork chops were awesome and the blue cheese salad was flavorful. We took the cannolis to go and sipped on the Rosa Lampone and the Peach Bellini.

Google
The exterior of the place hides a very nice and somewhat romantic interior. The food is decent but not quite traditional Italian. Meatballs had decent flavor, grilled oysters were well cooked and vegetable and seafood is prepared well. The pastas are always overcooked unfortunately and cream sides abound on the menu and I wish there were simpler options. Really friendly and nice staff make this one of the good options in the BCS area. 3.5 stars!

Google
Very good food, nice staff, and quick service! I gave 4/5 because one of my forks had some dried food stuck between the tines, it must have been missed when it was washed. I just used the other fork so no big deal. Our waitress, Taylor, was super nice and very polite. I ordered the blackened chicken fettuccine alfredo and fried mozzarella, both were excellent! I also got a coffee and it was very good, restaurants don't usually have good coffee so I was pleasantly surprised! (oh and their creamer cup is adorable lol)

Google
This is more like American Italian than actual Italian so if you're into that it's good. The ambiance is more for a date setting as lighting was really dim and since the rooms are pretty large you can't really hear your neighbors. They accommodated our large party without reservations which was nice and even gave us free desserts because of some issues one of our group had with a overspiced dish. Overall for the price point it's not bad, since it's in a college town this is one of the nicer places to be if you feel like going out.

Google
Wow! What a little gem of a restaurant. I found Amico Nave on maps by happenstance whilst looking for a nice dining experience for my Fiance and I's anniversary. The atmosphere is so casual with the low lighting and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We had a bottle of the Santa Cristina Chianti and the mussels for an appetizer. The mussels were amazing and drenched in a chardonnay butter sauce with bacon. Not to mention you get a very large serving! This could be a main course in itself. For dinner I had the Veal Oscar. Being a fried meat it stroke a chord with my German blood and reminded me of schnitzel, only covered in a cream sauce with crab meat, artichokes, and cherry tomatoes. The flavors were amazing. My Fiance had the Tomato Primavera over angel hair pasta. Delicious and a huge portion! This restaurant is a great little spot. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was delicious, service was great, loved the ambiance. Hidden gem!

Yelp
First time to try. Typical old school Bryan/CSTAT restaurant - old, no windows - but still cute. Service was excellent. My chicken parm was not great, weird tart flavor. My daughter's bolognese however was incredible.

Brenda R.

Yelp
Excellent! kudos to the chef and staff and from the front door to desser Moscato wine to start Entree: 'Pollo Parmigiano' Pan-Fried Chicken, Amico Nave Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Garlic Spinach (Substituted Eggplant and asparagus) Substitute Eggplant $14 Substitute Veal $19 Dessert: Yummy cheese cake The atmosphere is warm, subtle and yet alluring with the flickering of ambient lighting. Open bar, date night, dinner--you decide. Ya might not want to wear just a plain t-shirt. And yet, you can be nicely comfortable or dress. The service is delightful. Upscale. I left with a smile on my face, knowing that I will return. I recommend this restaurant.

Peikai M.

Yelp
Friendly service with great food. Nice ambiance with dim lighting, great place for a date. Deconstructed pizza was interesting and very tasty. Came with two types of breads, one of which is definitely too hard. Pork chop was tasty and so was the pasta. The pasta portion was great as well. Would go back and am going back for valentines dinner :)

Tiffany C.

Yelp
The food was incredible! Healthy options and some indulgence offerings too! Don't say no to the garlic knot bread... carb it up! The noise level was high which isn't great for a romantic night but we were there for a work dinner amidst the graduation hustle and bustle so it was fun and exciting to see all these graduates embarking on their new chapter and celebrating with food!

Whitney B.

Yelp
Came here for my bday after not being here for a couple of years, & of course, it was as awesome as I remembered. Tyler was our waiter & he was perfect. I'm reminded that I should come here more often, SO GOOD.

Beverly W.

Yelp
Not only is this the best place to eat Italian in Bryan College Station in a high end restaurant with perfect atmosphere but they nailed it on their score!!

Roland B.

Yelp
Went for a date night. Food was delicious and staff were the bomb.com! All around great place.

Walker S.

Yelp
Fine. Clean, well-kept restaurant and restrooms. Too dark; get what they're going for but hard on the eyes. Food came out very quickly (almost concerningly so). Friendly waitstaff. Bread was too far outside the realm of what could be considered Italian. Could've benefited from simple white bread with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. Mediocre food, especially for the price. Generally underwhelming.

David V.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was friendly and attentive. Low-light ambience. Accommodated group of 6 easily.

David U.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate our anniversary and our 1st time at this restaurant is our last. The food is absolutely horrible! Olive Garden is even better, that is how sad. Pollo Parmigiano is a joke! Please don't waste time and $$ at this place

Hannah C.

Yelp
The food was so delicious! I recommend trying one of their pizzas and the fried mozzarella. The flavors literally melted in my mouth, and the crust wasn't extremely stiff like most flatbread pizzas. The atmosphere was very classy and relaxing. Hailey was an amazing server! Could not be happier with my service here.

Steve R.

Yelp
New to the area we are still learning our way around. Found this very good Italian restaurant and will definitely be returning. I had the chicken parm and it was delicious . Service was prompt and courteous, very pleasant experience.

J L.

Yelp
This is our favorite restaurant to drop by for drinks or a light meal like soup. But...... We spend every special date here because the salmon, Caesar salad, oysters covered in goat cheese are all fantastic! The bread is so wonderful. A favorite is the musselsThe staff is always attentive and this locally owned business thanks to Wade and Mary Beckman make all feel welcome! They truly give back to the community when help is needed.

Yelp
Disappointing. I have wanted to try Amico Nave for about three years. We had dinner there last night as we were in the neighborhood and we were looking for some place to have dinner. We sat in the bar in a wonderful booth. Seating is expansive and can accommodate many. Unfortunately the food was lackluster. We started with sharing a caprese insalata which was disappointing. The tomato was over ripe, the balsamic reduction had a sweetness that was unnecessary (wasn't what a traditional caprese should taste like) and it had not been seasoned. My husband had the ribeye and it came with potatoes and asparagus. The steak was nearly well done (having requested rare-medium rare) the potatoes weren't roasted as we expected, but rather appeared to have been cooked in a fryer and the asparagus was over cooked. None of which had been seasoned and none of which was especially tasty. I opted for a chicken dish with mushroom and spinach. It was slathered in an enormous amount of sauce and included asparagus as a side. After I seasoned with the available salt and pepper it was ok. The addition of angel hair pasta could have elevated the dish. The star of the meal was the cheese cake which is not house made. We left knowing that we won't come back. Next time when we are hungry for Italian food we will be going to Luigis or Italia 1860. They have proven that they can prepare good tasting, quality Italian food.

Marc M.

Yelp
Amico is one of our go-to places, with several good house cocktails - the Veranda and the Secret especially - and good entrees, particularly the salmon, the shrimp Paradiso, and the blackened chicken linguini. Best of all is the ambiance, relaxing mood lighting and not already to loud.

Dena B.

Yelp
Menu sounded amazing thats how we ended up here. Food was just ok, wouldn't come back here. Had the calamari/shrimp appetizer. Calamari was tough, no flavor in the sauce or calamari batter. I had the Diablo pizza, nothing spicy despite the name. Pizza was pretty good, its on a flat bread which is not mentioned anywhere on menu but the Flatbread did taste pretty good. Although could have had the toppings and sauce more spread out. It was just a dollop in the middle so mostly Flatbread. Husband had the shrimp Diablo pasta. This did have a little kick to it but was so over powered by the wine sauce. Staff was amazing so they get kudos for that!! Very friendly and attentive waiters. Oh and the Napa Valley Ca Momi cabernet sauvignon was excellent.

Brian E.

Yelp
The place is going downhill, which is sad because I really used to like it and they don't keep up with the maintenance . there was only one other person in the restaurant when I was there. It used to be packed

Jon H.

Yelp
Friend of the Ship... that is what it means. They are next to Shipwreck Grill and owned by same people. I like them better than Shipwreck. Good solid Italian food. GET THE SOUP. Nice quieter place than so many in town so feel a bit more intimate. Good date place. Not bad for Lunch also. These people run good restaurants in general so try all (three now right?)

Becca B.

Yelp
Loved it! cozy and homey! and food was amazing. the garlic knots !!! to die for:) our server was lovely - i wish i remembered her name!

Victoria K.

Yelp
Amico Nave is wonderful restaurant, with good service and good food. I have been here several times and have tried several items on the menu. First of all, the mussels are absolutely delicious and we love them. Tonight we tried the Calamari and Shrimp as an app, and it was really good. It was a lot of food for two of us, but no problem there. I got the Classic Caprese salad, which I enjoyed. I thought the tomatoes were a little too big compared to the mozzarella and basil, but that's not a big deal. I just didn't eat all the tomatoes. The pizzas are delicious and so are the pastas! You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu, everything I have eaten so far has be yummy. Try the cheesecake too!! The owners are always there, which I think says a lot about the care and attention to the restaurant. I see them picking up plates, walking around talking to their guests, and always with a smile on their face; something you rarely see in restaurants these days. I think they well deserve 5 stars!!

Brian D.

Yelp
We came here for my girlfriends son getting his Aggie ring. The food was very good. What I have a huge problem with was the fact that I ordered a traditional old fashioned. This is without being muddled. Got the drink, sure enough, MUDDLED. I politely asked the waitress to have the bartender make it again the way I ordered. She took it, came back 1 minute later with the same drink! All the bartender did was strain out the muddled crap at the bottom. Bad bad bad bad service. Will not come here again with a bartender that thinks her shit doesn't stink.

Adel Q.

Yelp
I've been coming to Amico Nave for birthdays and special events for quite a while now. It really is one of the best Italian restaurants in the BSC area. I ordered Farafalle pesto chicken last night and it was phenomenal. The chicken was cooked just right and the amount of pesto in the bow-tie pasta was perfect. It was light but had so much flavor in it. I also had their tiramisu for dessert. It had a foamy layer on top that would just melt in your mouth. It was really a delicious dessert with rich flavors. As for the service, our server Lilian was great! We were a party of 7 and asked for pictures, refills, bread and she was genuinely nice and diligent. Overall, I highly recommend this place for dinners, dates, and special occasion. The lighting is dim inside which makes the restaurant seem fancy. The servers are very attentive and friendly and the food is delicious.

Rosie A.

Yelp
Great food and good service! We will be back! I love that they host the Lions Club meetings here as well.

Trey C.

Yelp
Good place. Was when I was in college back in 2012 and still good now! You want come classic Italian food, go here. Drinks are good too! The Smash that they have to offer is delicious. Wife got the Amico Gimlet and it was delicious as well. Perfect pours!

Kain K.

Yelp
This place is simply outstanding across the board. The owners own Shipwreck across the street and it is equally as good in its own right. But this place is fine dining in BCS. Veal Oscar, salmon and deconstructed pizza are excellent! Courtney delivers superior service to both these outfits. A must visit in this area.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
For whatever reason I can't justify eating at an Italian restaurant. It's pretty cheap and super easy to make it at home so I just always go that route. Plus, for whatever reason noodles are made of gold at Italian restaurants and cost an arm and a first born. But..... this place has COMPLIMENTARY GARLIC KNOTS!!!!! That and their participation in the rapid rewards program lured me in. I got the lasagna, it was tasty... enough. Not $16 tasty more like $10. It was way better the next day after all the flavors had time to sit and melt into eachother. Maybe we fix the fact that the waitress holds the key to the parmesan and we just leave that bowl of magic on the table. K thanks

Kathryn F.

Yelp
This is our favorite Italian in BCS! Romantic ambience & amazing food! Great place for a date night. We will return time & time again!

Igor P.

Yelp
Really bad Italian food. The pasta was over cooked, the eggplant parm was way undercooked, the spinach was way too spicy for the rest of the dish, the meatballs taste like they are mostly breadcrumbs with just a bit of meat. I have no idea why this place has any 5 star reviews. The waitstaff was nice, but no way to compensate for awful food.

Sabine I.

Yelp
Great restaurant! Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is calm. Moreover, our waitress was very attentive and kind. For our meal, we ordered the Calamari and Shrimp as an appetizer. It tasted great and was a very large portion for the price. They also brought out some Garlic Knots before our entree, which were also delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the Farfalle Pesto Chicken, the Shrimp Paradiso, and the Slow Roasted Veggie Pizza. All of our meals were fantastic and were a great size for their price. All of the food was served hot and tasted fresh. Overall, I highly recommend this place and will be returning.

Jacob D.

Yelp
Ate here with a big group. The service was quite good and they were accommodating to our group. They brought free garlic rolls to the table, which we good but not amazing. The appetizers were very good (though expensive). The salads are those annoying ones where it looks nice, but it's basically just a chunk of lettuce. For the main course, most of the group liked their meals, but nobody was overly enthused. Overall a satisfying meal, but a bit pricey and nothing extraordinary.

Lawrence C.

Yelp
Hey it was okay, okay? We had a party of four. Without rating each individual dish I can say as a consensus the food was okay. Nothing great. One guest said the pizza was darn good. My dish of blackened chicken was okay. Chicken was a bit dry but certainly not bad. My wife's dish of shrimp Diablo was light on the shrimp. Bread was dense and not fluffy. Service somewhat slow but again not bad. Price was moderate. There was a "smell" to the establishment when we first entered as another yelp user noted. It was sorta a musty smell but I could be mistaken. Would I ever return? Yes, but would seek out other alternatives for Italian as well.

Christy H.

Yelp
This place did not disappoint. The service was quick and attentive. We ordered the bruschetta, not knowing they were bringing out garlic knots, we were excited to try both. Since we loaded up on those we decided to share a meal, the Bacon Shrimp Diablo. It was fantastic! What a great mix of flavors. Possibly one of my favorite pasta dishes I've ever had. Can't wait to try other dishes on the menu next time we're in town.

J David M.

Yelp
We love this place!! Great ownership, outstanding food and great service! Good wine list too! Gig'em!

Ian Z.

Yelp
Was my date spot with my ex girlfriend who was an aggie. Very good Diablo pasta was my favorite. The bread was excellent and so were the cocktails. Was a nice treat off the beaten path of CS. Definitely a must stop when near TAMU.

Neal M.

Yelp
Review of the Bacon Chicken Diablo: The linguine is cooked al denté. Excellent noodle choice for this dish. The all the flavors mingle to perfection. I taste the white wine cream sauce with black pepper. The jalapeños, mushrooms, bacon, grilled chicken and shrimp all burst with flavor. The bread knots are a perfect palette cleansing flavorful break from the rich pasta. The Mark West Chardonnay is crisp and refreshing. Then there is the tranquil atmosphere and attentive waitstaff. I see people come to Amico Nave to enjoy conversation. Not me. I love to come by myself, sit on a bench and destress. I get a buzz on the wine, but I get intoxicated on the experience. Amico Nave always lifts my spirits and makes a high mark on my day. Thank you! -Neal

Bryan S.

Yelp
Great overall experience! I called earlier today for reservations and spoke to Mattie. I told her that my wife was sensitive to garlic and asked if they could work around it. She assured me that they could (you would be surprised how many can't) and said she would make a note in the file. Apparently she did because Kimmie showed up at our table with their standard bread, brushed with garlic butter as well as a second basket of plain bread! They then made my wife's main course with no garlic. When I told her I had a taste for seafood in a tomato sauce, which I did not see on the menu, she offered to take a menu item and have them add tomato sauce. It was great! Undoubtedly the best Italian in the BCS area by far and the service was outstanding!

Echo L.

Yelp
The bacon shrimp diablo is so good. Totally worth the price, and even taste better than some 30$ restaurants in NYC. My friend ordered another one, which is also good but I do think bacon shrimp diablo is the best! The starter rolls are okay. I order the old fashioned for drink.

Mai N.

Yelp
We came here tonight were greeted by the hostesses. One of them recommended the Seafood Antonio. You know the power of suggestions, my husband ordered the seafood Antonio. I had the Campagnola Marie and my vegan daughter had the Tomato Primavera Carsoni. Tre food came out fast and they were piping hot. The Seafood Antonio was delicious. Yes, I got a few bites from my husband's. Got a few bites from my daughter's too. Her veggies were cooked but still crispy. It has flavor but I feel like it needed a little more seasoning. The flavor on my dish was right on. The portions were just right. When we first come in, I was concerned that might not be enough. It was. The price might be a little high for college students though being that this is a big college town. Service was very good! If we live in town, I would definitely come back.

Daniel K.

Yelp
Food 3/10 pizza is a joke worse than frozen half cooked Atmosphere 6/10 average atmosphere music does not fit theme of a italian restaurant Waiting 3/10 water refilled not once Conclusion Trainwreck

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
Bacon Shrimp Diablo: This restaurant is a little on the pricey side, but it is well worth the cost. Bacon, shrimp, and jalapenos tossed with linguine in an alfredo sauce - who would have thought these would actually go well together? Apparently Amico Nave did. I'm the sort of person who always needs to order appetizers in order to combat the monotony of eating a repetitive main course, but this one keeps you guessing so there's no need to order anything extra. Tiramisu: Soft, and fluffy with a bit of a kick to it. Good service, very nice people. Dimly lit, 'romantic' atmosphere. Will definitely be back again.

WX Z.

Yelp
We visited it for a lunch. We've been there before and I miss the veal in the dinner menu. Amico 1836 was served with well cooked juicy chicken breast and potato cubes with crispy outside. I'm not a fan of the sour sauce, but how the food was prepared impressed me. Chicken Bacon Diablo surprised me with the jalapeño flavor. This amazingly balanced the richness of white wine cream sauce. The Chimichurri Pizza is also good.

Nancy D.

Yelp
Bread knots will rock your face off. My favorite 2 dishes are the Diablo shrimp pasta (you can sub chicken!) and the giant meatball. Husband loves the blue cheese & beef flatbread. There's indulgent and healthy options.

Taylor A.

Yelp
The calamari here is delicious and so is the spaghetti and meatballs. I also really like the atmosphere.

Richa T.

Yelp
Don't let the exterior fool you! This place really has amazing food! We came here the other day to celebrate a friend's birthday. Pros: + Amazing vegetable Pizza + Great Parking + Large selection of food + great service + Great for larger groups. Cons: - Pasta dishes did not seem particularly unique. Yes, they are delicious, but I was really hoping for something stuffed made in house like an agnolotti or a ravioli All in all, this is a great spot for a Friday night dinner. Highly recommend and will be back soon.

Courtney C.

Yelp
I have been here twice so far and will definitely go again! Great service- sat in the bar area both times and it's a fun atmosphere. The food has been super delicious! The first time I had the veal with crab meat on it- very yummy! Tonight my husband and I split the spinach salad which was very good and then we shared the shrimp Diablo pasta- I usually don't gravitate towards pasta with a cream sauce but this one was just too good to pass up! Shrimp, Bacon, peas, jalapeño, etc- we ordered it with half the jalapeño and would recommend that if you aren't a fan of spicy food! Make sure you get the BCS rewards- it's free and you get $10 credit after you spend $150 across several local places. It's worth it for sure! I took two of my friends tonight to Amico and they were super impressed by everything. Our waitress was the nicest and the food was superb!

Stacy B.

Yelp
Jo was spectacular! The Veal Oscar was delish! I loved the garlic knots. The portions were large. Highly recommend if you're looking for Italian!

Tadesse T.

Yelp
This is an Italian restaurant with a number of categories of starters, entrees and desserts. They have wines including my favorite Naturally sweet wines From Texas, the Messina Hof. But I wanted some Italian dessert sweet wine, which they did not have. The dining halls are huge and have beautifully arranged tables with high chairs. They have clean bars. The staffs are so kind and knowledgeable about customer handling. The foods are amazing and they gave us a lot of starter breads. We loved them. The Food is served in a huge bowl! I am not even exaggerating! It is delicious, filling and healthy. I enjoyed my pasta with pesto, Chicken and spinach. My friends like the pasta and Antonio seafood. Great experience!

Laney R.

Yelp
The food is excellent. They don't have a big menu and the place itself kinda stinks like old. Maybe it's the carpeting they have in there. Decor is plain and not inviting but it makes up for it with really good food and good service. Bar area is big and the night I went bar was full. Wouldn't be my first choice for Italian but I'd go if someone else wants to go there.

Saba S.

Yelp
Hated my experience here. The food is overly priced and lacks quality. The wine selection is dull and a rip off. We ordered the blackened grilled chicken and shrimp diablo and it was not an appetizing flavor. We ended up eating the shrimp from the top and tossing the rest. The Farfalle pesto chicken was a plate of mishap and don't let the word pasta deceive you. You will receive a side of fried hard shell pasta alongside pesto chicken. We picked out a meatball appetizer but it was lumps of dried beef in marinara sauce, nothing I couldn't mistakenly make in the kitchen. Not a place I'd ever return
