This is by far THE best Mexican food in Massachusetts! From the Chips and Salsa (don't forget to order the table-side Guacamole) to the tacos to the tres leches to the mezcal.
This was our first trip to Amigo's, and we're glad Siri chose this place. The chips and salsa were great! The salsa was thicker, moving closer towards a jam than a salsa. The chips were not salty, unlike places like Chili's or On The Order, and of a thicker cut, unlike the previously mentioned places. The table side guac, was worth it, my only qualm was that is needed something more. More kick (live bcaon or qoita cheese). A solid start. And if you're into spice, like I am, as for the habanro sauce, just mix it into your "jam" (lol).
Since it was Taco Tuesday l, we both opted for these Moy delicioso options (see pictures). The chicken tacos came with guac on tip, and ya can't have them without extra cheese! I had the shrimp and bacon tacos, with jalapeno creme, which were to die for. I didn't need the spicy salsa, but I added it anyway for that special kick.
For the desert, she ordered the Tres Leches cake, which came inan two-tier variety and no sauces. According to the amazing bartender Davine (too bad she's leaving) the cake usually comes with a drizzle of sauce; ask without, and you won't be disappointed. For my desert I had the Spicy Jalapeno Mezcal, and I have to say this is my new favorite mixed drink. The smokiness alone had me craving another.
We went early, so it was quiet, but as the night drew on, it got busier. So, I'd suggest going in for an early dinner, so to get good service and good food.
I particularly loved their attention to making their dices, slices and mashes (guac) rather fine. It allowed for a greater "one bite" bc you were able to enjoy a bit of each aspect of what was on the plate.
The pinto beans and rice were on point too.
We'll definitely be back!
