I would highly suggest that anyone who /thinks/ they like late night taco bell runs try here next time, you'll never go back (to Taco Bell, I mean).
In the interest of full disclosure, I really only eat here when we've been drinking heavily; but I do frequently DD, so I'm not /always/ drunk.
Now that that's out of the way, this is easily the best fast food Mexican /anywhere/. If I were to attempt to sum it up in one sentence to an Amigos virgin, it would have to be 'deep friend taco bell', but it is so much more than that.
Amigos has been a mainstay in Lincoln for a long time, and they are littered all about town. However, there is only one in Omaha, and it is mostly centrally located, and has also been there a long time (15 years that I can remember). They are also at the interstate in several small towns, so it makes a nice road trip stop.
The single Amigos in Omaha has always been combined with something else, A&W, Kings, Winchell's, it often changes, but Amigos is always there; so we will concentrate on their menu.
The main features are, as we often call them, 'crisp things' and 'soft things'. It's kind of like a 'choose your own adventure' game. Basically the only thing you can get here is a burrito, but with choices. You can choose the filling (ground beef, chicken, or pinto beans), you can choose the style (regular, or 'supreme'), and you can choose your healthy level (Deep fried, or not).
My personal recommendation? one soft-beef burrito, and two crisp-pinto burritos, but pretty much everything on the menu is delicious. I also like mexi-fries as a 'filler' if you are still hungry. A note, I'm not really sure what makes them 'mexi', as near as I can tell they are just regular potato gems.
The best news is, it is open until 3AM on the weekends, less important now that I'm old, but it was a life saver in college.
Overall, this place is absolutely great, and is pretty much a required stop if we've been out on the town (it helps that I literally have to drive /right by it/ to get home from downtown).
