I had kept seeing this restaurant whenever I drove on Colorado Blvd for years. This row of middle eastern restaurants had always intrigued me so finally today, I made a quick stop to get me some vegetarian food for lunch.
Its entrance is quite grandiose compared to other restaurants' but once you're inside you'll be amazed at its simple/clean interior. I kind of saw a lady cleaning the floors/tables while I was taking some photos outside; that same lady greeted me at the ordering counter. I sensed some warmth coming from her; thank you!!
Their menu is simple, too. In a way, it was easy for me to decide.
As soon as I spotted what I was craving for (something vegetarian), I wasted no time to order it.
The prices are kind of high for entrees at this restaurant though ($19 and above.) And it appears that they serve the same things throughout the day so there appeared to be no separate menu for lunch or dinner. Even Hummus plates are $18. Sandwiches and salads are decently priced however.
It took them good 15 minutes before my food was ready. This was okay; I wasn't in a huge hurry.
I tried not to have any expectations but was slightly hoping that the quality of the food would be top notch(because $26 after tax/tip was a bit too high for a quick lunch plate.)
As soon as I got home, I started my lunch right away. When I opened the container of my veggie plate, I was shocked to see some French fries lying on top of everything. How weird!! I've never seen a middle eastern food decorated by French fries so I kind of thought what the need was for that (lol!!) Is this necessary?? Without further ado, I started digging into the main ingredients of the plate.
Falafels, grape leaves, hummus, greens and rice were all beautifully placed inside the container and they all tasted really good. Their falafels are probably the best tasting ones I've ever had. While I was still enjoying the nice meal, I still couldn't get over the unnecessary French fries. Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against French fries. I just think that they don't belong in this middle eastern food (lol) is all!!
Overall, this place does serve good quality Lebanese food. One thing I enjoy eating at a middle eastern or Lebanese restaurant is (stir fried) eggplant This restaurant doesn't serve it (I don't think.) I don't know how long it's been since the last time they updated their menu but it'd nice to see some eggplant dish added to it in the future (that is my little request/suggestion.)
