Denver’s Best Affordable Restaurant Food | Eater Denver

"Despite its low profile in a nondescript University Hills strip mall, this Lebanese cafe has found a following over the years for not only familiar Middle Eastern fare — shawarma, shakshuka, falafel — but also the lesser-known manaeesh. Think pizza, only with toppings like lamb, lebne, tahini, za’atar, and honey." - Eater Staff

I got the chicken quesadilla, which hit the spot just right! Still great from when I came here six or so years ago. Pro tip: Use the spicy sauce. It's identified by the photo of the bottle I added. It makes everything delicious! 😋

Once again, my co-worker surprised me with lunch today. First time experience eating lebanese food. The meal was very flavorful. The portion was huge enough to have two meals. Recommend this location.

This restaurant far exceeded my expectations. Amazing shawarma, it was not in a breast pita, it was rolled and toasted. The fried were homemade and fresh. Price was fair, it was a nice and clean space, and the owners were so nice too! Highly recommend!

Amira’s Grill is, without question, my favorite restaurant in Denver. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and hospitality that truly sets this place apart. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming—genuinely the nicest I’ve encountered at any Middle Eastern restaurant in the city. Now let’s talk about the food—absolutely phenomenal. The hummus is unbelievably smooth and flavorful, the toum (garlic sauce) is the best I’ve ever had, and the chicken shawarma is juicy, perfectly seasoned, and unforgettable. Every dish I’ve tried here is prepared with care, and the flavors speak for themselves. If you’re looking for authentic, delicious Middle Eastern cuisine in Denver, Amira’s is a must. It’s one of those rare places that makes you feel at home while delivering a five-star dining experience. I can’t recommend it enough.

My meal was excellent, I had the lamb kabob. I definitely want to eat here again, my only issue was the customer service. My waitress was more interested in making out with her man than checking on me or the other customers in the restaurant. Eventually I waved her down to get a box. The meal was definitely 5 stars. Keep up the great work.

This location is much smaller than the previous. I had a chicken shawarma sandwich and a side of hummus. The hummus is wonderful and the chicken shawarma had soft delicious bread and moist tender chicken. I know everywhere has chicken shawarma but Amira’s is just better! The tabouleh is MARVELOUS, it has the proper amount of lemon and salt ratio and I will come by even just to fill my tabouleh fix when I’m not that hungry or don’t have time to sit and eat a full meal. This place is at least 20 minutes from work but worth the travel time when I have time to go. I came with a friend this last visit and we ordered and sat our food did not delay more than 10 minutes. The place is nice and clean well lit and open. Great place for a quick bite with no fuss and no disappointment. Oh! They’re sandwich is big compared to a lot of places I’ve gone. I took a picture w my hand for reference the sandwhich is 10-12 inches

The food was delicious but the people working there had no sense of customer service. We walk in and the lady there didn't say hello or told us to find a seat. She just kept doing her own thing. We find a table and she doesn't offer menus. We had to get up and find them. Then we had to keep looking for her for napkins and other stuff. Everyone was really rude there. Would not go again even though the food was good.

I live around. And was time to try this place. Food was decent, customer service was awfull, lady in cashier and gentleman in kitchen with nasty attitude. They even charge the customer xtra for the main sauce that you normally use to eat this kind of menu. I feel that is very selfish and unnecessary. (Tiny sauce size eventho price) Plus they charge you extra in the bill for the service and mainly is SELFSERVICE. (And well the service isn't worthy) The parking area if crowded is kinda awful. I am not repeating this place unfortunately. For me customer service in general is a must. GL

Yelp
Now yall know u love my Arabic food especially with me being Lebanese so I'm critical when I go to these restaurants. This one is also a gem and was so amazing. I got a chicken shawarma along with a mixed grill plate. Everything and I mean everything was perfect down to the seasonings that reminded me of home! The owners were Lebanese as well and the most friendliest people and accommodating service I ever had. If you're ever in the area you definitely have to eat here

Yelp
I had kept seeing this restaurant whenever I drove on Colorado Blvd for years. This row of middle eastern restaurants had always intrigued me so finally today, I made a quick stop to get me some vegetarian food for lunch. Its entrance is quite grandiose compared to other restaurants' but once you're inside you'll be amazed at its simple/clean interior. I kind of saw a lady cleaning the floors/tables while I was taking some photos outside; that same lady greeted me at the ordering counter. I sensed some warmth coming from her; thank you!! Their menu is simple, too. In a way, it was easy for me to decide. As soon as I spotted what I was craving for (something vegetarian), I wasted no time to order it. The prices are kind of high for entrees at this restaurant though ($19 and above.) And it appears that they serve the same things throughout the day so there appeared to be no separate menu for lunch or dinner. Even Hummus plates are $18. Sandwiches and salads are decently priced however. It took them good 15 minutes before my food was ready. This was okay; I wasn't in a huge hurry. I tried not to have any expectations but was slightly hoping that the quality of the food would be top notch(because $26 after tax/tip was a bit too high for a quick lunch plate.) As soon as I got home, I started my lunch right away. When I opened the container of my veggie plate, I was shocked to see some French fries lying on top of everything. How weird!! I've never seen a middle eastern food decorated by French fries so I kind of thought what the need was for that (lol!!) Is this necessary?? Without further ado, I started digging into the main ingredients of the plate. Falafels, grape leaves, hummus, greens and rice were all beautifully placed inside the container and they all tasted really good. Their falafels are probably the best tasting ones I've ever had. While I was still enjoying the nice meal, I still couldn't get over the unnecessary French fries. Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against French fries. I just think that they don't belong in this middle eastern food (lol) is all!! Overall, this place does serve good quality Lebanese food. One thing I enjoy eating at a middle eastern or Lebanese restaurant is (stir fried) eggplant This restaurant doesn't serve it (I don't think.) I don't know how long it's been since the last time they updated their menu but it'd nice to see some eggplant dish added to it in the future (that is my little request/suggestion.)

Yelp
I am sorry to disagree with the other Yelp reviewers but the food here was pretty meh. Plus you have no water...except Costco bottles you charge for? Really ? Highlights: Warm pita with Hummus....excellent. Lowlights: Everything else. Really so so falafel sandwich. I much prefer a traditional one not this burrito type thing. The plates were sort of a mish mash of stuff. Jalapenos on rice in Lebanese food? like wtf. This whole shopping mall has several other restaurants that are pretty darn good....gyro town for instance.

Yelp
Nice little spot for a good shawerma. For my first visit, I tried both the chicken and beef, both were tasty and hot the spot. Service was quick and simple. It was nice to sit outside, even though the traffic was loud, but the sun was hot!

Yelp
We went to Amira grill after an Uber driver recommended it- we were absolutely blown away. Best falafel I have ever had, incredible dolma. Friends got the chicken and beef kabab and also thought theirs were incredible. Service was wonderful. Ambiance was great as well. Could not recommend this place enough.

Yelp
Super delicious food (had the mixed chicken and beef shwarma plate) and would recommend. Casual dining and quick service. Very tasty and for sure coming back!!

Yelp
I've never had lamb shank before it also came with, rice, hummus, garlic spread and yes a couple of fries. I don't know if it was on the menu, but I asked the person at the counter what she would recommend. I should've gotten names because the customer service was so warm and friendly. Oh my this was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Go here order this dish if you want a very special meal. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Do it you will be pleasantly surprised.

Yelp
I was so excited for some grape leaves I ended up eating 3 before I took the picture! So friendly and clean restaurant! Took a little bit for the food to come out but every seat was taken when we arrived!

Yelp
Our family has adopted Amira as our new favorite Mediterranean spot in the area! Seriously our kids rarely agree on any restaurant and this place is a hit. The shawarma sandwich with pickles is outstanding. Great value with the plates and hummus too.

Service was good and food is excellent! Parking is a little limited. Not too busy and plenty of seating.

Yelp
Shawarma chicken plater delicious!! And the Amira hamburger great! Thanks also the place is spacious and clean

Yelp
Best Shawarma in Denver! This place is incredible, their Shawarmas remind me of the ones you get in the middle east. Fresh, crispy on the outside, warm inside and super flavorful. They know what they are doing

Yelp
Amira Grill used to be Amira Bakery. It was on Evans and moved to the current location on Colorado sometime last year. First time to the new location, the décor was new and clean, not a hole in the wall like to old location. I used to go to Amira Bakery because they had freshly in house baked pita that puffed up with a ball with the meal. This time around, it was a disappointment because the freshly baked pita was replaced by store bought pita which knocked the meal down a notch. I had the vegetarian combo, it was okay, same as other Middle Eastern places. I miss the fresh pita baked in house.

Yelp
Demolished this mixed kebob plate within 20 minutes. Order it, you won't regret it! & Add extra garlic sauce and hot sauce on the side :)

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner just because we were driving by. Very welcoming staff, food was super-fresh and very tasty. Authentic baba ganoush, great schwarma, super friendly place. Will definitely go back!

Yelp
A Middle East gem! Homemade pitas and homemade hummus are great! The chicken shawarma is delish...

Yelp
This place had been recommended by a couple of friends. The plaza it is located in was very sketchy, but the moment we stepped inside it we saw that the restaurant was very clean, and the service was pretty decent. The falafel was by far the best falafel I've had on this side of the Atlantic. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The best shawarma in the state! They have a giant skewer that they cook the meat on and carve off into wraps. So good.

Yelp
Amira Grill is super! The Kafka and chicken kabob dinner were the best in Denver area compared with other Mediterranean restaurants'. We searched and tried many restaurants, Arabic, Iranian, and Mediterranean restaurants. This is the one!!

Yelp
It is the same Amira Grill that used to be on Evans. Awesome food. Please bring back the meat pizza!

Yelp
Food was just phenomenal. Great vegan and meat options. Good service, very nice employees. Pretty restaurant and ambiance.

Yelp
the food came out quickly and everything was delicious. The beef shawarma was especially tasty.

Yelp
I love this place! Nearly all the customers that I have seen are Middle Eastern. Authentic, fresh, delicious. Check it out and I promise you will return!

Bruh B.

Yelp
Miss the old location, but their shawarma is still some of the best, most authentic in Denver. Thin fresh bread, spit roasted chicken, crispy fries and a garlic sauce that you'll taste the next day
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
Very interesting gyro!! There is a French fry in it and it's skinny. It's amazing. We tried both gyro places side by side and we prefer Amira!!

Jacquelyn W.

Yelp
Truly excellent Lebanese comfort food- their chicken shawarma is absolutely perfect and the foul is so flavorful it's practically creamy! Perfect place to take your habibbi

Ashley L.

Yelp
I came to Amira Grill to try some Mediterranean food in Denver and I was amazing from the sensational flavors. My boyfriend got the Mediterranean burger. It was very juicy and extremely tender meat! The fries were crispy and fresh. I took the fattoush salad with add on chicken Kabab. It was seasoned to perfection! We also got the Cheese Sambusa that's like a fried puff pastry with a salty touch. We are definitely coming back! Highly recommended!

Yelp
We were so disappointed by this restaurant... It was terrible, really. The pita was dry and store bought. No one in our party of 4 enjoyed their meal, as it all was really bad. And covered with French fries. Really?? And the service - if you could call it that- was so careless and offhand. We blew over $100 here, and we all regretted it.
