Austin’s New Restaurant & Bar Openings - Austin - The Infatuation

"Located in the back of Hole in the Wall, Amity’s is a coffee shop by day and a karaoke bar by night. The caffeine comes from Barrett’s a few miles up the road, and since it’s conveniently connected to the iconic dive bar, Hole in the Wall supplies the booze." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

It’s a real place! I saw their sign on the sidewalk on Guadalupe that read along the lines of, “The coolest coffee shop you never heard of,” and thought it was funny so I decided to take a look. It’s behind Hole in the Wall and is basically a hole in the wall itself. I wasn’t sure where to go and was probably looking very lost when a kind voice called out and asked if I was looking for Amity’s Coffee. They were on a bench next to the entrance of the coffee shop. Apparently I’m not the only one who got lost on the way there. Basically, you just walk down the corridor of the outdoor patio where all the benches are and the door is to the right of the benches. Inside, it feels more like a bar than a coffee shop but I really liked it. There’s a ton of seating inside and the overall atmosphere is really nice. They also have a spot for karaoke that the barista said is available at night. I got a 12 oz hot latte with vanilla and oat milk. It was very good! I would highly recommend trying this place out. The prices were super reasonable and the barista was so nice.

The place was super cozy with unique, funky decor, a jukebox, and arcade machine, so be sure to come with coins! All of the drinks are absolutely delicious! It’s a little like a speakeasy hidden past the gateway and the picnic tables. Definitely worth the visit.

Cozy vibes and good coffee (probably the best option in West Campus). I like that it is quiet during the day and there are outlets available. However, they have some problems with pricing. I've ordered an iced latte three times, and each time it's been a different price. The last time, I checked my receipt, and there was a 50 cents upcharge for whole milk. The barista said it was a mistake and refunded me. Also, if you don't specify 12 oz or 16 oz, they will give you a 16 oz (and charge you the higher price). Overall, I would recommend Amity's, but make sure you check your receipt to ensure you are paying the correct price.

The bald guard person is very standoffish and borderline rude. I was really excited to check this place out bc they have karaoke and coffee and the atmosphere just looked 10/10. Upon my friend and I entering we were abruptly stopped by man and harshly asked for IDs. We were more than welcome to give him our IDs but before we had the chance he then said “No outside beverages allowed”. Totally understand but #1 I saw people studying in the outside patio with the same water bottle I had and #2 there was no reason to be hostile to 2 teenage girls. We entered calmly and happy to try out this new location. He also didn’t even try to help us like “you can leave your water bottles in this corner” just flat out “you can’t have that here”. Again I understand these rules BUT WHY SO RUDE…he didn’t even offer a solution to his potential customers. Also, if he’s supposed to be guarding the entrance why was he at the bar watching the performers. His attitude totally turned my friends and I off. The reason I am writing this is bc my friend and I were genuinely excited to come after a long day of studying and for him to be rude was just so unnecessary.

I would looove this place and be here everyday and probably spend a gazillion dollars over my lifetime, if it had a better internet connection. The vibes are great and everyone seems cool, the service is also nice and so is the coffee, but the connection just doesn’t cut it for my school work and it really blows me because this is probably the chillest spot in wampus. Amity, get a better network plan and my life is yours.

I came from the south to a karaoke and they were "closed for a private party"! It's just ridiculous! At least they could communicate it beforehand. Closed on Friday in the evening for a private party! That's not a joke!

Cool ambience, but they don’t know how to make a proper Cortado. Went twice and had different baristas too. Same result.
