The 21 Best Restaurants In The North Fork - Long Island - The Infatuation

"Despite the Love Lane address, handwritten menu board, and knotty pine ceiling, at its core, Ammirati’s is a hard-working deli where you should get a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on your way to Peconic Bay. It’s the sort of place that comes up with funny names for heroes, like the Moose Is Loose for a chicken cutlet sandwich. But don’t worry—the sandwiches also have numbers in case you’re not ready to say “moose” out loud at a deli. If you’re double-parked, the grab-and-go case has premade sandwiches, but it’s worth dealing with some honking cars for the roast beef hero with parm, lemon, and arugula." - sal vaglica

Google
Hands down, one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I got the Cousin Mikey, just how it comes. Absolutely fantastic. Next time I would order it with extra coleslaw, but that’s just a personal preference. You NEED to check this place out if you’re event remotely in the area. There’s no AC inside, so I’d recommend the outdoor seating in the very back. My sub was $15, massive, and worth every penny. I can’t wait to eat the other half.

Stopped here starving after my fifth 12 hour shift at the hospital this morning, wanting to reward myself with a hot breakfast after a very long week. I don't go here very often because parking on Love Lane can be difficult, however, I am a local to the area year round. I came in to a quiet place- one woman at the counter waiting for her order, one man and his small son eating at a table, and me. The staff saw me walk in and look at the board. I looked over the breakfast board quickly then followed the signage to order at the register. Was in there less that one minute. Two people walk in just then. The male employee that saw me come in, saw me look at the menu board, saw me standing there to order, comes over, and immediately starts helping the two he knew that just walked in, completely ignoring me. I never said a word besides good morning, was not rude, hurried or irritated. I just walked out. They can't say they didn't know, or misunderstood, they simply chose to skip me in favor of familiar faces. I guess if you are a frequent flyer, you get some sort of preference. I promise to never bother this establishment again or recommend it to anyone if asked. Went somewhere else and will continue to do so. Born and raised on the North Fork. Seriously disappointed.

My boyfriend and I came here a couple of months ago and had such a lovely experience. Our sandwiches were amazing, and the owner is the kindest man. We will be back!

Google

Google
We visited here during a day trip to the vineyards. The staff was friendly and kind. There were so many inviting and creative salads and sandwiches, it took us a while to decide. Creative and tasty lunch options.

This is my go-to early/fast breakfast on the North Fork. I usually get a sandwich with egg/cheese and a different meat each day. The pancakes are also good, but hard to eat on the run.

Google
Best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. I got the 13 and my fiancé got the 28. Incredible. We will be coming back at least once a week and we live 45 mins away 😂

Matthew “Matt from the North Fork” Chizever

Google
We’re currently working our way through their VERY EXTENSIVE SANDWICH MENU and haven’t had a stinker yet! These guys are the real deal, and easily our new favorite sandwich spot on the North Fork! I’d write recommendations, but seriously, we’ve been back five times since coming a couple months ago and every sandwich we order is an absolute masterpiece!

Yelp
So yummy! Got the NFPC sandwich but with chicken cutlet instead of grilled. I wish I didn't share with my husband lol it was delicious and light. I would come back and recommend if out here!
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
After spending the afternoon at Harbe's farm we opted to try this place for something quick to eat. The menu was more extensive than I thought and I finally opted for the NFCP but got fried chicken cutlet instead of grilled chicken because I'm on a fitness journey. I have to say it was blown away with how good the sandwich wise. I was tempted to buy another one before leaving since I don't live anywhere near the area, but decided to try some ice cream instead. Next time we come out east I will definitely be back and definitely be taking a sandwich to go this time.

Yelp
Huge shoutout to Chewy, Greg, and the team at Ammirati's for making delicious sandwiches and salads. Ammirati's is one of the places my family looks forward to each summer on their annual trip to Mattituck. The house salad dressing is excellent!! As are the lobster BLTs, grilled chicken wraps, and Gorgonzola salads. Service is prompt, friendly, and efficient. Would give 10 stars if I could! Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary!

Yelp
Nice little sandwich shop in Mattituck. We hit this place before going to a couple wineries nearby. The woman behind the counter was quite nice and told us about her few favorite sandwiches. We ordered fries, the game day, and Charlie's brother in law. Everything was tasty and fresh. The game day was delicious but could have used more sauce and honestly a little less chicken. Charlie's brother in law was perfect. Nice and lite. Fries had great seasoning/batter but unfortunately stuck together a bit. Will return!

Yelp
It was dirty feeling, and I sensed unhappy employees. I stopped in for breakfast (first time), and was surprised by the bad vibe.

Yelp
Food and Service is impecable. Meals came to table hot and fast. You must try dining here..

Jason L.

Yelp
The sandwiches were excellent and reasonably priced. I had a thanksgiving turkey sandwich that was huge and delicious. Really good flavors and nothing too over powering. We also had a steak sandwich that was excellent. For the size of the sandwiches it was one of the better deals for the quality on the North Fork. It's a family restaurant with family pictures on the wall and friends hanging out. We have been to a bunch of spots nearby and while many were good this is one we'll be back to tomorrow, can't leave without having another of these sandwiches!

Yelp
Great egg sandwiches and lunch options. Very friendly and helpful service as well, in a clean and well-run space. Thanks!

Yelp
OMG. Sooo good. I had the Love Lane Pig. Great flavor with spinach and arugula. My husband had the Death Wish. The meat tender and juicy. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food.

Yelp
Fabulous list of sandwiches . If you order one a day it will take a month to go thru the list. Overfilled , sharable delicious sandwiches. If you on love lane, you've got to stop in. Also nice outdoor seating in the back.

Maryann B.

Yelp
Nice friendly clean place... Usually go there after visit to Post Office to enjoy a delicious breakfast. Wait staff..... Quite friendly and most polite!!!!+

Debra M.

Yelp
Great peeps Great fresh food, Great location!! Glad they are doing well! Great addition to Love Lane ! Quality which adds to the other Quality establishments of Love Lane!!

Yelp
What a menu! This was our first time here and it was amazing. We were greeted by Ethel, who was such a sweetheart. There were so many sandwiches to choose from but I landed on the NFPC. It was SO good. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them. They have a nice outside patio for you to enjoy your food on too. Check it out!

Yelp
Picture this: You're on the North Fork and you're hungry. There's no reason to go to a restaurant, your busy! You want something to grab and go but not fast food. Enter Ammirati's. Ammirati's is a casual style eatery that is grilling up some outrageous looking items. It's not a deli but they're cooking up deli like foods. Are you feelin' me Yelper? I had to pick up a cake out east and my wife would like breakfast. My wife & breakfast items is a challenge. She doesn't eat any carbs or whole eggs. Coffee and a muffin? Out. Pancakes? No bueno. Now a BEC? Egg whites are fine. Boom goes the dynamite. For me?? I have a hunger, I want my Long Island breakfast of champions: The ubiquitous Egg on a roll but today I'm going to mix it up. Sausage, lightly scrambled eggs with salt, pepper and ketchup. (Hey, I like ketchup on my scrambled eggs) Out food comes to us hot and fresh. Mmm mm! They have at least 20 different sandwiches on the board as well as funky salads. First time here, very impressed with Ammirati's. If you're driving by Love Lane, grab a spot on the street and have an egg sammy with your main squeeze. Let's not talk about a Hero with mayo to spilt with my wife. I love mayo... she doesn't. Happy Wife = Happy Life.

Yelp
Awesome small town mom and pop deli. Stopped in here while heading to the wineries and picked up some delicious sandys. My wife and I split the moose is loose and the deathwish sandwiches. Both were delicious and huge. There was so much chicken in the moose is loose we only ate half the sandwich. The BBQ sauce on it was delicious and came with some nice crispy bacon. As for the deathwish the roast beef was delicious. Staff was very nice and friendly. Overall a great spot to try

Yelp
Everything we have tried has been really good. Especially the breakfast sandwiches. The staff is very nice. There a few small tables inside but we have always got it to go.

Yelp
This review is in regards to the service & online/text ordering. We've always enjoyed the food here but had a very unpleasant experience trying to place an order recently. We texted our order in as instructed by the website like we've done before. When we didn't receive any response in almost 30 mins, we called to confirm they received our order. The lady answering the phone very rudely said "I don't know what you're talking about" when we explained we never received a confirmation. We then asked again if we would receive a confirmation when our order was ready, to which she replied "if you never got a response then we didn't get it." She didn't try to help us or ask what our order was & we never received an update on our order so we said forget it & went elsewhere. If you're going to have a text in to order system in place you need to be more on top of these orders & less rude

Yelp
Whether you are looking for a delicious, quick breakfast on the go, a perfectly satisfying dinner on the back patio, or catering for fun events in our post covid world - Ammirati's has you covered! We have loved everything we have gotten here, and so have our guests. Additionally, the service is spectacular.

Yelp
I would come here again, but first impressions are lasting. The place smelled like old fry oil and it was first thing in the morning. My daughter wanted avocado toast, but it was very underwhelming and she threw out more than half of it. What can I say we had a bad experience-- maybe they just had a bad day.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
A delicious speedy deli. Very large delicious sandwiches, seating to eat in house or take the food to go. They have everything and anything. STRONGLY recommend. Mostly all sandwiches (hot or cold options) and salads and soft drink options. You can probably split a sandwich with someone. Dessert options are available too, they have Tate's cookies which are yuuuummm. A great base meal before hitting the vineyards.
google avatar

Angelina L.

Yelp
Made a quick stop on our way to Huntington & the food did not disappoint. My boyfriend said "the game day" was the best sandwich he's ever had.

Jessica W.

Yelp
Breakfast sandwiches were fabulous and reasonably priced. We went with the in-sandwich hash browns option, which is an inspired addition. Lots of customers but the goods were being slung out efficiently. Would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
Was here today with my friends for brunch and had an AMAZING time! It was just by chance we came here because Love Lane Kitchen had a wait. It is set up like a deli where you order at the counter. It was right before 12 so breakfast and lunch we're both offered. I decided to order an omelette and my friends all got sandwiches. They also had a couple of beers from Greenport on tap as well as Stella. The food was pretty good but the service is what sets this place apart. The guys behind the counter we're not only courteous but made the whole experience what it was. We all ordered a beer with our brunch, and sat right by the counter. We all enjoyed our food and we're having a great time! They all made sure we had everything we needed and all of the employees were personable and made sure our requests were fulfilled. The prices were really low for where you were and the food was A+. I would come back in a heartbeat!

Kathleen R.

Yelp
Excellent service! Delicious food! We highly recommend using Ammirati's to cater your next event. They catered for our 40 person event and every single person had nothing but positive feedback about how delicious the food was. Greg came up with the perfect menu, provided very reasonable prices and was a pleasure to work with!

Yelp
The best sandwiches around town! Ammirati's is a genuine eatery nestled on the quaint Love Lane! My husband loves the sandwiches. There is quite an expansive list of options. They custom order to perfection every time. I am a vegetarian and I truly appreciate how I can make my own salad. All tastes and preferences are accommodated.

Richard B.

Yelp
Not a bad deli, considering what is actually around the area. I can only comment on the sandwich aspect of the food. I was living in Mattituck for a few months and used to go there for lunch. Breakfast was Better but seemed every time I went in for a lunch sandwich they didn't have what I was looking for. When you go in on the right side was a sandwich menu with about 75 sandwich options, not one of them included bologna or Virginia ham. My little guy wanted bologna one day and asked for it but they said they didn't have it. What deli doesn't have bologna? 60 of the 75 sandwich options have chicken cutlet on them. It also depends on who makes the sandwich, I would go and get a tuna hero, some days you barely saw any tuna under the lettuce and tomato and when one particular girl worked, the hero weighed about 20 lbs, lol. She was great. I then found the "other" deli next to the beer distributor on Sound ave , never went back to Ammiratis again.

Yelp
Love stopping here en route to north fork from Queens. The Irrigator = one of my favorite sandwiches of all time
google avatar

Katy B.

Yelp
Yo. In the dead of winter, this place gave me a sandwich with ripe, juicy, red tomatoes. This is a sign of LOVE. These are people who care about the art of the sandwich. Respect.
google avatar

Frank T.

Yelp
Huge menu and huge sandwich's and taste great. Hardest part is selecting an item from the big menu. They number the sandwiches on a few large blackboards behind the counter. Just pick a number and the friendly staff will put in your order. Takes about 15 to 20 minutes, maybe longer when it's really busy but worth the wait. There are a few tables inside but outside in the back there is a nice covered patio.
google avatar

Joann K.

Yelp
The sandwich selection is phenomenal. Every sandwich I've tried has been incredible. They also serve breakfast and salads. The prices are reasonable for the size and quality, it's clean and the staff is friendly. This place is awesome!

Jim B.

Yelp
If you are ever looking for the best chef to cook for your party this is the place to go. All the food is amazingly delicious. It's best to park in the back parking lot as Love Lane can be overly crowded some days.
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
B E&C Bacon , Egg and Cheese a Long Island staple and something not found outside of NY. Ammirati's nails it! Lunch sandwich's are ginormous and can easily be split between two people, ok some people not me. Coffee is great, Armirati's is what Love Lane is all about local and friendly. They will be around for a long, long time.

Baby G.

Yelp
Honestly was not impressed today. I get take out all the time from here and today was not good. Order was completely wrong, eggs were not cooked all the way through like I asked, and the owner is a loud mouth. I'm just going to go to Wendy's deli from now on, they are much nicer in there.

Caroline B.

Yelp
Large portions, good breakfasts. Friendly and local. Reliable deli. Nice salads. Great takeout.
google avatar

Dorene M.

Yelp
Was in town for a quick trip so I stopped in to get lunch. Everything was great, I ordered a chicken sandwich it was big enough to eat for two meals and it was delicious . My dad had the seared tuna wrap and loved it, same thing he ate it fir two meals. Great food, l'll definitely be back this summer.
google avatar

Yelp
I was fortunate to find Ammirati's while walking down Love Lane this past weekend. The staff was very friendly and eager to please. The establishment had a nice outdoor seating area with several tables and 5 tables inside as well. They serve both breakfast (till noon) and lunch. The lunch menu is comprised of several gastropub quality sandwiches as well as freshly prepared salads along with a make your own option. We spilt the Marco's Mom roast beef special and a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. The Marco's mom was the perfect thing to enjoy on a summer day. The roast beef was a nice medium rare, and the arugula with Pecorino and splash of lemon juice created a bright, tender, sandwich on a delicious baguette. The baguette was not one of those overly crusty and hard kinds where each bite forces the contents of the sandwich out the sides. This sandwich was also served on a nice ciabatta roll with just the right "give." The veal was juicy, ample and prepared to order. You can absolutely tell the veal was not one of those pounded too thin, prepared in the morning batches. The melted fontina and roasted tomatoes with sautéed spinach and crispy prosciutto was delicious. The next time you're strolling down Love Lane, I suggest you stop to dine outside or grab a few items to take to the beach. Any town would be lucky to have such a fine eatery in its midst.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
So i was debating giving between 4-5 stars but i decided to go 5 because i cant complain about anything, been here a couple times now they have fair prices decent size sandwiches and good quality food and good service will be back to try more
google avatar

Tran T.

Yelp
We got a late start to the vineyards so we wanted to make lunch delicious but snappy. Found Ammirati's on Yelp and we're glad we skipped Love Lane Kitchen (been there, done that!). I changed my mind on my order after what you might consider an acceptable amount of time, but they were more than happy to oblige! My Cali BLT could feed 2 people for sure (and it did). It was extremely good!! My husband had high hopes for his veal sandwich, but the meat was over cooked which left it tough. Since mine was so big we shared it and left happy. It's just too bad that their outdoor seating is in the back facing a parking lot instead of the more lively Love Lane. We would definitely stop by again to pick up lunch!

Ken M.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick sandwich as I was passing though the North Fork. Right in middle of Love Lane. Ordered breaded chicken cutlet on a roll with cheese bacon lettuce tomato and their sauce. I knew it would be good, but they overdelivered. It was delicious and loaded, and all ingredients were fresh. Very neighborhood place, friendly atmosphere and vibe between staff and locals. Will be back!
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Stopped here on my way out ... Lombardis was jammed, major long line. All I wanted was a tuna sandwich and get to the house. Turned the corner and decided to stop. Cute place, reminds me of a trendy Brooklyn sort of place.. Long story short, a simple tuna on a sandwich was $13.38 !!!!!!!!!!!!! Outrageous !!! But I just wanted to get going. Was just ok. I'd NEVER go back. Prices are utterly ridiculous.... Doubt they last that long, sorry to say....
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
If you need a giant sandwich, Ammirati's has got you covered. I hardly ever stray from the California BLT, but I'm quite certain that every sandwich on the menu weighs about four pounds. If you're a crispy bacon person, Ammirati's always does it so right. It's not cheap, but you could also eat just one of their sandwiches and be good for the whole day. They have quite a bit more variety than just deli sandwiches; the salads are also amazing and huge. The service is always quick and friendly, and you could text your order in if you're into that.
google avatar

Steph G.

Yelp
Great selection of quality sandwiches. Portions here are ridiculously big (the BLT is practically an entire pig - see picture) and we had to wrap half of our food to go. Almost everything is reasonably priced but some things can be pricey so pay attention. Service was friendly and fast. Place is spotless. We were still eating at closing time and they locked the door but did not rush us out.
google avatar

John F H.

Yelp
Great little place. Across the street has nothing on this place. Good staff reasonably priced food. Good bang for your dollar. Excellent coffee btw.

Ben L.

Yelp
First time I've ever felt the need to share my experience about a restaurant--hands down the best lobster roll on the north fork. Well done Ammirati's!

L. C.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I didn't eat anything at this place. This is more a review of their offerings (or lack thereof). I don't understand all these places on the North Fork that have a hard cut-off on breakfast, particularly on weekends. I went in on a Sunday around 12:30 (after waiting almost 2 hours to vote!), hoping to try one of their reportedly great breakfast sandwiches, and was succinctly informed that they don't serve breakfast after noon. Why? The grill is still on, the guy is still cooking - just crack an egg! I asked if they could make an exception and just got an eye roll as an answer.

Jon H.

Yelp
Just a perfect deli sandwich. Friendly service, tons of choices, tremendous value and, above all, delicious. Day trip with family to an unfamiliar town and I am fortunate to have stumbled in. I will be back.
google avatar

Bob H.

Yelp
The Amarati sons have opened up a great store. It's one of two places opened that have transformed Love Lane in Mattituck. The service is quick, friendly, accurate, and portions ample. I wish these young guys the best of luck. Keep up what you're doing.
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
I had the Seared Sesame Ahi and it was DELICIOUS. The wasabi hit me really hard because I didn't know how strong it was going to be...it was sort of painful eating it but it was so good. They also make a mean salad. I was overwhelmed with the amount of sandwich, salad, and breakfast options. There's ample seating in the back if you can't find seats up front.

Fanny W.

Yelp
Delicious and huge sandwiches. Reasonably priced. Seating area in the back adequate. Would definitely come back here if in the area again!
