Most of the shops only open until 2:30pm to service the office crowd here. A lot of nice local food. Love the bakzhang. Been eating for 3 decades. Always sold out got to be early. The curry puff is also very nice, the flaky skins melts in your mouth with the soft fried potato curry chicken paste. So many things to choose and eat from. Price higher than other hawkers as located in cbd area. Worth dropping by early in the city area. The toilets here is also very clean.

The food here is excellent, and the vendors are very accommodating. There’s a great variety to choose from—I especially enjoyed the duck with rice, which was clean-tasting and delicious. The place is al fresco, so it might not be the most comfortable option on a very hot day. However, there are plenty of seats available, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. Overall, a great spot to experience Singapore’s food and culture.

Nice fish soup to have on a cool rainy day in sunny Singapore. Very crowded during lunch time. Be prepared to queue and wait.

There are plenty of food choices here. Although there were many seats, it was easily crowded during lunchtime. Might want to try your luck upstairs. Tried the beef noodle here. It was quite good. The beef was delicious, with different variations and parts. Noodle was OK. It was a bit too wet, though, for a dry noodle. Prices were slightly above average compared to other food court.

The Food Centre at 8 PM on a Sunday night - brightly lit & glowing against the darkened CBD skyline. Though many stalls had already closed, a few remained open, winding down after the dinner rush. The contrast between the bustling, illuminated interior & the quiet, shadowy street outside gives the scene a calm, almost cinematic feel.

Not touristy hawker centre. Near with office area. So be prepared if come in lunch session, because so many employees comes too. Have some halal food and taste good also cheaper and have generous portion I have tried the nasi lemak in spicy wife and bali gyudon in warung rayyan. So recomended

One of the better hawker centres near the CBD with many different options, from modern food fare to the traditional SG dishes. The char kway teow was rather disappointing though, lacked the wok hey and flavour. Chicken rice was good, with a generous portion of chicken.

Huge, very busy on a Monday lunchtime. Try and go during a weekday lunchtime. It is busy but it has a cool local vibe and nearly all the stalls are open. There is a lot of variety. Take napkins or hand wipes with especially if you're having something to eat where you need to use your hands. There are basins to wash your hands but I was a bit sceptical of hygiene and with so many people touching the taps. If you can, grab a seat near a fan. Boiling hot inside, I ate quickly and went. Most of the tables are communal so you will most likely have to share with others.

Yelp
Awesome multi-level food center with a huge selection of local Singaporean dishes. Literally everything we saw people eating over there looked delicious. We tried the famous Wah Kee Wanton Noodles and Rayyan's Waroeng Upnormal (Balinese-Japanese fusion rice bowls and spicy bami goreng noodles) and were truly blown away! Prices are very affordable ranging from $3.50-6.50SGD. If you're going at peak lunchtime between 11.30am-2pm, be prepared to brace the massive crowds, snaking lines and intense heat. It takes perseverance to wait patiently in line and find a seat (you'll find people reserving tables with pocket tissues everywhere!) but it's well worth it. Check this food center out when you're in Singapore- you won't regret it!

Yelp
One of my favourite Hawker Center in Singapore, with many award winning options. While the layout can be confusing, once you learned how to navigate the space, you can easily go to the second level for the infamous charcoal grilled Kaya Toasts. My favourites stalls are Ah Seng (Hai Nam) Coffee and Ah Ter Teochew. Ah Seng is known for its charcoal grilled french kaya toast. Delicious golden toast with Kaya at the side for dipping! Ah Ter Teochew has traditional teochew handmade fishball and mushroom minced meat noodle! Visit Amoy Street Food Centre for a delicious good time!

Yelp
My schedule during my trip to Singapore so I was rarely around to try out the different stalls during breakfast and lunch hours (which was when most stalls were open). Though I did manage to try two stalls: -A Noodle Story: I think it was overhyped honestly. It was like a dry ramen? Maybe I just didn't really get to enjoy the dish because I had mixed the chili into my noodles not realizing how spicy it would be..but at least the pork belly is flavorful! -Char Kway Teow: one man operation. The old uncle cooks, collects your payment, handles deliveries on his own (when I visited during the evening). It was a super saucy dish with lots of oysters too! Not to mention how can 3 sgd be beat?

Yelp
Amoy Street Food Center is "muther" of hawker food stalls in Singapore. Located near old Chinatown neighborhood, Amoy has not just one but two floors of food stalls. Amoy has everything: lots of rice dishes/bowls, soup, noodles, satay, etc. Frankly, everything at the Centre looked good, and validated by the large lunch crowd. Famished after 17 hour flight, I came here during weekday lunch hours and the Centre was packed with locals (which is always a good sign). I went a little crazy with two meals. First I had the black chicken soup with rice and the had Teochew fishball soup with mushroom minced meat noodle. Both were yelp-a-licious and cheap. A note to visitors: check the hours because most of the stalls at Amoy seem to be open only during lunch hours 11am to 2pm. Enjoy.

Yelp
One of Singapore's best hawker centers! There are a variety of foods to choose from and seating. I had the pleasure of trying some fish noodle soup, cendol, and teh tarik from three different stalls. The fish soup had a nice and flavorful broth and huge chunks of fish meat over bouncy noodles. It was extremely filling for a small size and a small price so I can't imagine myself ordering a large. The cendol was a medium sweet dessert which gave me comfort from the Singaporean heat. I guess I could've done without the teh tarik but why wouldn't I take up the chance to get authentic tea from the Bismi tea stall? The tea was so smooth and delicious I wanted to bring the whole stall home with me. It can be super hot in the blazing sun as there is no air conditioning at the hawker center but I would still come back because this was a great experience.

Yelp
One of my favorite hawker centers in Singapore. They have a huge selection of food styles and cuisines available and you will surely find something that suits your palate. I've been here multiple times for different meals and have never been disappointed.

Yelp
Lots of hawkerpreneur (new generation hawker) here. Weekday lunch time super crowded but this place most stall only opens on weekday breakfast and lunch time. Recommend this level 2-157 stall named Gyu Nami Wagyu beef Donburi for $10 only. The bowl is a bill small and hence lesser quantity. However , food is of good quality and quite tasty. The beef is thin and tender, about 60% cook, just nice. Recommend to try it. *Tips: Use Favepay to get 10% rebate for next use. So one person pay with the same favepay account 1 by 1, this way the 2nd person that is the 2nd bowl only pay $9. This way you'll save $1 for the 2nd person / bowl straight away rather than have to wait for next time coming back to be able to use the $1 rebate. Because you might not come back again before it's 3 months expiry. Enjoy Cheers

Yelp
Great Hawker food experience. Lots of choices. I especially liked the Fried Fish Lor Mee from Penang Kitchen. Wonderful noodles in an excellent umami flavored sauce with crispy delicious fried fish - all for 4 Singapore dollars (3 USD September 2028 exchange rate). I also enjoyed a refreshing and delicious iced coffee prepared efficiently by an elderly couple at Xiang Chang Coffee. I also had the Fish and Meat ball soup with noodles served by Fishii. The Soybean milk at Amoy Street Food Center was the best version of cold Soybean milk I've had in a long time.

Yelp
This is the place to be in Singapore if you like some of the best food at the lowest prices. Had a traditional Hainan chicken dish, along with a few other dishes, and a lime sugar cane juice, at various vendors around this center. The soup and satay were good also. Wish I could remember all the names of the places I visited, but the food was amazing. A great place to explore. The government gives lower income citizens an opportunity to run the stall, and the government owns the center and the stalls. Once every three or more months, they close and do a thorough cleaning. Each stall gets a letter grade (look for the "A"s or "B"s). Each stall usually specializes in one dish, so mix and match. Genius and a great way to try several dishes by exploring multiple stalls.

Yelp
2 floors of delicious options by a heritage rich neighborhood. 4.5 stars Highlights: - Black pepper beef hor fun: looked for the long lines and stood in this one. Loved watching them stir fry it in the big wok. Beef was tender, noodles were fresh, and gravy was peppery. 5 stars. - Carrot cake: this version seemed to have larger rectangles of the rice cakes, bit more sweetness, and eggs more in big pieces than mixed in. Loved it. 5 stars. - Chicken and rice: I'm not a fan of the traditional boiled version and here got the roasted and cha sui versions. Tender chicken was delicious and rice extra flavorful. Cha sui non pork to be halal was a trip with only difference in taste being thinner slices. 4.5 stars - Tonkatsu: my son loves this dish so we were excited for this find. He ate it all and hub said it was good too. 4 stars Lowlights: - Layout: hard to navigate with the upstairs and downstairs. Lots of short rows with tables in between so lots of squeezing around. Love the hawker's fare and would be happy to try more here.

Yelp
Lots of yumminess!!! :) As fellow Yelper Julian C. has recommended, the wonton mee and ipoh hor fun on the second floor (second row of stalls from the entrance further from McCallum St) are delicious! Ah Liang Ipoh Hor fun, #02-122. $3 for 4 fried fish dumplings (never tasted before!) and a few sad pieces of veg (sigh, I always bemoan the lack of veg in hawker centre food), mushroom. The chilli and silky smooth hor fun went together so well with the crunch of the fish dumplings! Not a huge portion of food, but yumm :) Anyway, the wonton mee was pretty good, definitely value for money!! 7 wontons in soup, with 3 fried wontons, and quite a bit of char siew for $3! The noodles I thought were okay, got a bit soggy/chewy (and not really in an al dente kind of way, more like a floury sort of way). Anyway, delicious!! :) Of course, long lines at fish soup/fish porridge stalls on 2nd floor - guess they must be pretty good. Also noted long line at char kway teow stall on 1st floor at McCallum St entrance. Also like the fruit juice stalls! Bf and coworker recommend the hor fun from the cze char stall on the first floor (somewhere in the middle). Called Good Day. Okay, I tried the beef hor fun from Good Day today (4/3/13) and it was phenomenal! Well, I wish there were more veggies but that's a constant wish wrt hawker centre food.. Anyway, delicious black bean beef hor fun! $4 gets you a huge portion of noodles and beef.. I usually get a little hungry somewhere in the afternoon but this was so scrumpilicious that I devoured it all and am still full 5 hrs later. The fish hor fun also looked pretty good, but I'll save that for next time! Apparently black pepper beef hor fun from Pepper bowl is good too! But coworker says service is kind of slow.. I bought a muffin from the Bake Of shop in the third row of stalls (I think). $1.10 for an apple crumble muffin! Really cheap and fairly filling. It was somewhat dry though, but good pieces of stewed apple inside. I do prefer more moist muffins, but maybe this was more healthy/less oily.. Haha. More updates since I come here fairly often now - Soon Heng porridge (on the first floor, opposite from Good Day) - has pretty yummy porridge! Also yusheng porridge, which I have yet to try. B Salad Kitchen (#01-37) has gd salads for $5! I love their roasted pumpkin and tempeh and sweet potato, mm :) Noodle Story (featured on Sunday Life recently) has pretty good noodles and lots of ingredients in it!

Yelp
This has to be one of my favourite food centres. It's a double story building, with many choices of food for your taste bud. My personal favourite is the Han Kee's fish soup stall at level 2, it's probably the best fish soup place in Singapore. If you see long queues at certain stalls, you know they are favourites among the office staff. Go there before or after peak hours. (11.30 to 1.30) to avoid long queues and frustration when finding seats. Place may be quite warm especially if it's crowded, so be prepared to get "roasted" especially during a hot day! Enjoy!

Yelp
Big hawker center by Chinatown -- two levels with at least as many stalls upstairs as on the ground floor. Was mostly closed down when I stopped by in the mid afternoon; I did manage to find a noodle stand open (was ok), but not much in the way of cold drinks. Probably better at lunch or dinner time. Interesting area around the center.

Yelp
This hawker center has TWO levels! I went at lunchtime and this place was just packed with people. It is a really popular place to eat. I looked around and looked at the stalls on both floors. Noodles, fresh juices, hainan chicken rice, they have everything! I wanted to eat everything but the stall I really wanted to eat at was Noodle Story. Walking around you can tell by the lines which stalls are the best ones to go to. Noodle Story was one of them and it was totally worth the wait. There are tons of tables and seats but it's packed during lunch. I noticed people leaving a packet of tissues or a lighter or something to indicate that they've claimed that spot. So simple, but the system works. Hawker centers are great places to find cheap eats in Singapore, which is great because everything else is so expensive!

Yelp
This two-storey hawker centre is one of my favourite haunts whenever I'm in the city. It's smack in the middle of Tanjong Pagar with lots of office workers nearby flocking over for lunch. Needless to say, you should avoid lunchtimes for your sanity's sake. I won't go too much into detail about the kind of food you can find here, but rest assured that whatever local food you can think off, I'm willing to bet you can find it here. The Thai food here is excellent too, and don't forget to check out the char kway teow. There's also a muffin shop which is pretty good. Unfortunately, it isn't that clean. Used cutlery can pile up really quickly during peak periods, and cleaners seem to be in short supply. Plus, Singaporeans don't have the habit of clearing their own plates, so that makes things worse. Also on the downside, most of the stalls close really early, with some shutting down for the day as soon as the lunch crowd disperses. If you're looking for dinner, you probably won't find it here.

Yelp
Tried the famous ramen mee pok, bak chor mee and curry puffs at this food court. All were good enough for me to visit again, but not sure I would the extra trip to get there. 30 min wait for the ramen even when got there at opening. This is a downtown workers destination so very very busy at lunchtime. The best bite was the ramen wanton.
google avatar

Yelp
Good hawker center surprisingly close to Maxwell. I like that it's 2 stories and I like that it's just lots of rows of a few stalls so it's easy to explore and it never gets too suffocating. I had the Char Teow and it was good but a bit too greasy for my taste.
google avatar

Yelp
Just started eating here after my office moved to Robinson Road two weeks back. Love the balance of price and variety of food at this place, definitely better than the other nearby ones like Hong Lim (where you'll be hard pressed to find Malay and Indian food) and Lau Pa Sat (which is more expensive as its so touristy). I would highly recommend two stalls which are next two each other and located on the second floor. The first is a wantan mee stall that sells very yummy wantan mee with uber generous servings of wantans. I got 8 wantans (4 fried, 4 non-fried) for just 3 bucks in addition to my serving of wanton noodles. So, imagine what 4 or 5 bucks can get you. The other stall, right next to it, is the hor fun stall whose most popular dish is the fried fish dumpling hor fun. For 3 bucks you get four pretty sizeable fish dumplings, but the hor fun serving is not too big and you might get hungry in a couple of hours time. Nevertheless, still very much value for money. If you love the fish dumplings so much just go on and order a plate of 6 of them for 3 bucks. Just a note that both stalls are very popular amongst the regulars and expect to see long queues during lunchtime on weekdays. Both are closed on weekends unfortunately.

Yelp
This is my favourite regular food center in Singapore. Despite its smaller size, it has more great stalls than Maxwell or Lau Pa Sat. Favourites are: "Cafe B" run by Chef Boris -- Singapore's best $4.50 pastas done properly al dente and generously sized. Aisle two. Chicken rice on aisle three with photo of Lee Kuan Yew visiting. $2.5/3.5/4.5 prices. One of the best Chicken rices in CBD. Costa Rican food "Mamacita" on aisle four. Good CR style burritos.

K R.

Yelp
Amoy St is a great place to grab lunch if you work nearby in the CBD. It is a two storey food center that has every kind of local food you can imagine. Most of the stalls are good. My favorite are the ones on the first level. There is a fruit juice stall with a really nice aunty that has many different kinds of fruit juice combinations. The vegetarian stalls on the first floor are also pretty good. My favorite place though is the chee chong fun uncle. $1.20 for a plate of really good and fresh chee chong fun. This place opens as early as 6:30am. Most stalls close pretty early though and are not open on the weekends.

Yelp
This is such an awesome place! I would rate it as the best hawker center in Singapore. Of course there are other good hawker centers and we can debate endlessly which serves the best chicken rice or prawn mee or popiah but the reason I love Amoy Street Food Centre is the diversity and sheer range of options it offers. I feel truly blessed to be working in its 5 min radius and so spoiled too! For S$5.50 you can get a big bowl of salad (from any of the 4 - 5 salad shops operating there) when the same bowl of greens can easily cost you 15 or more in the fancy cafes around telok ayer and raffles place. Or if you want something different you can go for costa rican chicken rice with tacos. It was here I tried my first "lei cha" - the Hakka "thunder tea" which is another healthy choice apart from salad. "Noodle story" seems to be another recent favorites judging from the line. And then of course there are the stars of the show - the famous piao ji and han kee fish soup / fish porridge. Lines are quite formidable every day from 11 am to 2 pm so pick your time wisely if you want to try. Fancy some dessert after your meal? There is Koko Icecream - the popular coconut icecream served in a real coconut. Or you can venture to the second floor for some baked goodies at Bake-of Muffins at very reasonable price. There are also fruit juices stalls aplenty so take your pick. If what you crave is Japanese, Thai or Korea they have it too! It's probably the most international hawker center and the food options itself is a reflection of the changing demographics in Singapore so definitely a great place for people watching as well!

Yelp
Amoy street hawker centre get packed at lunch time but still worth it. I always eat A TER fishball noodles on the first floor. Its so good! I never get sick of it and this is why i always eat a Amoy Food Centre. Even though it's kind of dirty, you have many options of food here so you will definitely find something you will like. Amoy street hawker centre serves really good food,

Yelp
During our travels in Singapore, a friend recommended that we go to Amoy Street Food Center for lunch. There were many stalls and it was difficult to choose. We walked several rounds before we decided which stalls had the longest lines. We went to the Han Kee stall for fish noodle soup. I got the fish head noodle soup. It was very flavorful and did not have any fishy taste. Price was fair and portion was good. It actually had a lot of pieces of fish. They don't skimp! I highly recommend this place if you are from the states. This is something you can't really find in the states. Line gets long around lunch time. Amoy food center is 2 stories and there are many options. Fried rice noodles, chicken rice, wonton noodles, fresh fruit juice, various noodle soups, rice dishes, popular breakfast stall, and deserts. There is something for everyone.
