Amplified Kitchen + Beer Garden is a great brew pub right of PB. This enjoyable pet friendly & kid friendly restaurant gets packed with varied crowds. The wait staff was great, beers refreshing and the appetizers were good. Their rotating beers were exceptional, minosa delightful and their fries with a trio of sauces are delish! Great rooftop location to see the sunset, meet up and eat before exploring the coastal night life. Amplified Kitchen + Beer Garden closed at 10:30 and the servers were awesome and accommodating until last call. Will happily go back in the future for lunch or dinner.

Has an upstairs outdoor seating with a view of the water. Dogs were allowed. Food was good, with good portions. People we were with got a cheeseburger and they said it was good. I got the beef tacos. Three was a lot of food. The beef was okay not much “flavor.” Ingredients were fresh. Fantastic beer selection.

Google
What a wonderful restaurant on the coast! The staff is very kind and helpful with what too order and suggestions on what beers mix great together! Parking wasn't bad, but I am sure it changes throughout the day. Live music on Friday's and Saturday's starting at 8:00pm. The price is also great compared to lesser restaurants that charge more. Definitely coming back again especially when there is such a giant selection of craft beer!

The food here is not as consistently good as it used to be, but it's usually pretty reasonable. The service, however, is 50/50. Some of the people working here are wonderful, but a few are really, really rude. Also on five different occasions I was seated and they forgot about me for over 35 minutes. Not at a busy time, at slow times. One time I waited for almost 1 hour before I got frustrated and left.

Google
An enjoyable pet friendly & kid friendly restaurant. The wait staff was great and the food was very good. Their phish (fish tacos) were exceptional and the burger was above average. Great rooftop location. Will happily go back in the future for lunch or dinner.

Google
Amplified Ale Works is conveniently located near where we’re staying for the weekend. I’m grateful for that because it’s a restaurant experience I could have missed otherwise. I ordered the salmon and chicken skewer dinner. The entree was served with salad, rice and a side. I selected the fried Parmesan zucchini. I did good with that selection and so did they! The skewers were grilled to perfection. The outside was nicely charcoaled and the chicken and salmon were cooked fully and tender with a wonderful marinade. Amplified knows how to work a grill! The salad dressing added a flavorful touch without being overpowering. The apple pieces were a refreshing touch. Our server, Alfredo, was pleasantly attentive, professional and had a delightful sense of humor. For each of these reasons, I will be back. Possibly for breakfast. 😉

Came here for the first time and glad we did. The food was great, large portions and the beer was good. The price was reasonable. There isn’t plenty of parking but they will stamp the ticket for 2 hours. We are coming back here.

Google
Excellent, we ordered french fries and Mezze platter. The food was delicious. They have outdoor seating which is very nice. This is one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in California.

Yelp
Absolutely great spot! Visited for a midday lunch. You can beat the location, with beach views from various points of the restaurant. I ordered the chicken wrap and it was delicious! It's served with fries and or salad. The wrap was huge but totally doable. I got to try their falafel which was also really good. The service is mostly self serve. You order at the counter , grab your own utensils and napkins etc... They have various deals and promos as well. Highly recommend, especially during the week when the vibe is more lunch forward and less drinking crowd.

Yelp
I visited Amplified Ale Works last night for Trivia Night and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the food was delicious, especially the Donner fries, which were a standout. The servers were extremely friendly and created a welcoming atmosphere. However, the overall setup left much to be desired. The ordering system was cumbersome, requiring either a trip to the bar or using a QR code on your phone. This contributed to very slow service throughout the evening. Unfortunately, I experienced a service hiccup where a beer I ordered never arrived, yet it was still on my bill. When I brought this up to the waitress, she mentioned she couldn't assist me with the issue. It was only an $8 charge, so I decided not to pursue it further. Despite these setbacks, I generally like Amplified Ale Works. However, last night's experience wasn't the best and highlighted some areas that could use improvement.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, but it was how the service was organized that earned the 2 stars. You seat yourself, order off a QR code and the food is brought out to you. No one comes back to ask if you need anything: no refills, spoon with hot tea or even a selection of sugars, chips w bowl, no water, and heat lamps in poor working order or just broken. The lack of service is probably okay for the new generation, but I'm used to having a server who comes back around and I can tip accordingly. Too many choices in PB and if you like to have a complete meal with refills, you should look elsewhere.

Yelp
A fun rooftop spot for large groups, I got to have a drink and Mediterranean food with my friends on a Saturday night. They had lots of large tables outside with heaters and I was so pleased when the staff so generously saved our reserved table for us past 30 minutes! Some of us had their beer flights and they were good pours of all four flavors. Their doner fries were huge and full of lamb which I appreciated. Lots of shareable options on the menu and everything is ordered through QR code so you can pay separately without having to split the bill. Wait time for food isn't very long at all and your group can hang out as long as you want!

Yelp
Came here for the views while walking around Pacific Beach. It's very nice to sit and watch the waves roll in. I ordered the Juneshine kombucha and the fried zucchini. Both are very delicious and not too heavy! It was beautiful out when I was there but they have heaters outside incase it's cold My waitress was very kind and helpful, but you can also order directly to the table via a QR code.

Yelp
Came here for a work dinner and for trivia night. The place is upstairs and right next to flamingo deck. They have an indoor section and outdoor. The service was great too! They have lots of drink options from cocktails to beers to kombucha. They have good food options too. We tried a handful of plates from salad to Caesar salad wrap to rice and lettuce bowls. The fries were tasty. I really like the ketchup and the ranch from here! It had a different taste and I loved it. The music was a little loud which made it a bit annoying but we were done anyway so we just left. I would love to come another day to try it out again

Yelp
I have lived in San Diego and frequent PB for around 3 years and this was my first visit to Amplified Ale works. Not sure how I missed this gem. I went on a Saturday night around 6pm and we sat right away. Service was fast and the servers were kind and checked up on us frequently. Ambiance: we sat outside on a shared table overlooking the water/hotel in front. We were able to see part of the sunset and there are heaters if you get cold. This restaurant is on the second story so it has a nice patio for drinks/food. Drinks: I ordered the rotating Nova hard kombucha in dragon fruit, 6% ABV. I loved it. My family got a stout made by amplified and the white sangria. Highly recommend the white sangria if you like sweet drinks. Food: I got the make your own "bowl" with falafel. I was pleasantly surprised the rice was seasoned with curry. It came with a garlic and spicy habanero sauce which were very good and paired well with the meal. As an appetizer we got the house made pita with 3 different sauces, will be getting that again! My family got the tilapia tacos and the make your own tacos with lamb. Everything tasted really good. After you enjoy the food and views, you can easily walk to the boardwalk to see the water and enjoy the ocean breeze.

Yelp
Excellent service, great views, very nice casual yet upscale restaurant. Great selection of beers. Food was very good. I ordered the classic rock cheeseburger. Very good. My wife got the fish tacos. They were huge. We also got the mezze platter. Overall, a great experience. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Amplified is hands down our favorite beer garden we've ever been to. The vibe is impeccable, the food is delicious, and the beer is amazing! My friend and I each got a flight of 4 beers, which comes in a cute little guitar shaped cup holder, and the pours were HUGE. We loved it so much, we came back the next day to try another 8 beers. Every beer was incredible; you really can't go wrong here. We were also surprised that the food was so good (definitely get the mezze platter!!!). This place is so worth the money. If I could recommend one place in Pacific Beach, it would be this one!

Yelp
Ordered 2 grilled skewer plates and the general consensus is meh...and would not return. Rice was clumpy and seemed like it had been sitting for awhile, one of the end fish pieces was completely black and charred so inedible, steak and lamb and rice were dry. Fried zucchini and hummus were delicious but not enough to bring us back since everything else was a bit lacking. This place was chosen based on the beautiful dine-in photos on yelp, and sadly what we got in the takeout version was different.

Yelp
I have a little story to tell. There was a time that this was just a tasty food business with good beer on tap right across the street from SDSU. It was called Cali Kabob. I was hooked on this place and relatively new to Mediterranean style food. One of the young owners decided not to renew the lease and make a jump down to PB and open Amplified Aleworks. He told me this personally, and at the time he said "come down and check us out! " Well, it took me a couple years to make it down here, and I remember ordering the same falafel wrap that I did many years before. It was just like I remembered and with a tasty beer alongside, it definitely took me back in time.. I even chatted it up with one of the employees that was an OG at the old SDSU business. We even talked about the dog days of summer when they had zero business, and would play catch with footballs in the parking lot. They wanted constant attention and cash flow, which is near impossible during the summer months when school's out. Here, you are in Pacific Beach, steps from the boardwalk. The ocean view is fantastic from the patio area. You can get 2 hours free parking with validation with a purchase. Not bad because parking is very hard to find here, as in all beach areas and parking lots. Location is hard to beat. On my most recent visit, I just stopped in for a beer. Got the Amplified Squire, hazy pale ale 5.5% an excellent beer. They're doing the right thing now for over 10 years, and it has proven to be successful. After all, can you tell me a place other than here, where you can have ocean views, eat very good Mediterranean food and drink premium beers? Ok then, I didn't think so..

Yelp
This is a fun, dog-friendly place to grab a bite and a few drinks! The parking can be a disaster, there is a lot but it's challenging to see if there are any spots so the majority is street parking - it's not the end of the world though and honestly pretty typical for most places in PB! I would describe the food as standard - it's good and I'm not bummed by anything we had, but also nothing stood out and is causing me to rush back. The dog-friendly atmosphere is super fun and the beer selection is nice and has options for a lot of different tastes! We went on a Saturday, wait wasn't too long and service was nice!

Yelp
I had a great time having a casual dinner at Amplified! I was in the area with friends and wanted something fulfilling but also nothing too expensive or fancy, so Amplified looked like the right spot to choose. We came in on a Saturday night - even in the winter weather they do have the outdoor patio open with plenty of space heaters and big group tables. I def think the outdoor patio is a nicer place to sit at too! It was a little confusing at first how to order, we had to wait a bit to flag down a server who could provide us some menus and take our order. But after that, I'd say the service was fast and attentive. Everyone in my group ordered the doner fries - it comes in a pretty large portion so definitely prepare to be stuffed afterwards. I got mine with the lamb which was really yummy and the fries are perfectly seasoned. Really curious to try the doner fries with falafel instead next time. I also ordered a margarita and I will say that it is pretty big for just $9, which I thought was neat. It's definitely a cute spot to try if you're near Mission or Pacific Beach!

Yelp
Loved Amplified Ale Works on a recent business trip to San Diego. I was looking for something quick and easy and they delivered. Great selection of Fall beers and the most heavenly Greek-style bowl. It was nice to have lettuce and protein options at a reasonable price. The restaurant is set-up to be fast casual with the opportunity to order from a menu on your phone. Easy to split up your tab at a table so I imagine it's a great place for groups. I found street parking 2 blocks away that was easy to manage. I would definitely return.

Sammy R.

Yelp
Location is great and the food was decent, but the service is poor! You order and pay via a QR code on your phone. Once your food is dropped off at your table, no one comes around to see how you are doing and if you need anything. I ordered the falafel bowl, the creamy hummus turned out to be a clump of hummus. The menu states chips are included with the bowl, when I was able to find an employee to tell him I didn't get my chips, he said it wasn't included with a bowl. I showed him the menu that says it's included, he said he would bring me some chips... but they never arrived. The heat lamps didn't work on the patio...so we ended up leaving because we were cold and sick of waiting and waiting. I guess if you are interested in just drinking, this is a great place but don't expect anything more than someone dropping off your order.

Yelp
Two stars just for the food because it is good. Service is poor, which sucks bc I used to love this place. I ordered a sangria & my husband a N.A. beer and a juice box for my daughter. It took 30+ mins till my husband finally went up to the bar to let them know. Bartender looked at the ticket and said it's up next. She dropped off the drinks, and said sorry, but didn't offer anything or to take the drinks off. I said to my husband "I should order another drink if I want one" joking at how long it took. I ordered a 10oz kombucha, and no kidding that took 20+ mins to come out. Also they brought out the food wrong, but there's no one to check back to see if anything's okay, so we just left it as is. I also asked for a to go box, and the runner seemed bothered that I asked. Super bummed because we used to love to come here & the one in east village. Sadly, I don't think we will be returning.

Yelp
Came here with my husband, two children, and dog and had a wonderful time! Great ambience, good food, and the server was very friendly.

Yelp
The food was hit or miss. This time my friends didn't like their fish tacos (too bready and not enough flavor). The hummus appetizer was underwhelming but I liked the falafel and fried zucchini. The service is not good. It's hard to find anyone to help and no one checks in during the meal. The bartender was helpful but it's ridiculous to have to wait at the bar for help at the table. I want to love this place because the location is awesome but I don't like being made to feel like an imposition when I'm looking for salt or napkins or forks for the table. (I was hoping the first time it was just an off night for the waitstaff. But this visit confirmed it must be a choice to not have staff available to help customers.)
google avatar

Chris O.

Yelp
Really cool vibe on the rooftop. The beer is top notch and the rice and lettuce bowl with chicken is to die for. It's a huge portion for just $11. The people were quick with prepping it and the beer was poured in a timely manner. I can't wait to come back for more.
google avatar

Yelp
Good casual ambiance with great protein bowl options. Friendly service and awesome drink selection. If you're hanging out, there's board games and tv screens to enjoy while you eat.

Yelp
Amplified Ale Works was definitely giving what it was supposed to have gave. They have pretty good food and an amazing view of Pacific Beach because they're located on the second floor of The Promenade Shopping Center. They have large communal-style benches that are perfect for hosting large parties. I definitely recommend starting with a pitcher of sangria, because their sangria is flavorful and strong and you just can't beat having a good glass of wine overlooking that beautiful view. For appetizers, my party ordered the parmesan fries, fried zucchini, and pita chips & dip trio. To be real with yall the pita chips were just okay, but I was a big fan of the fried zucchini and parmesan fries, so much so that I upgraded the fries that came with my "Amp'd Burger" to parmesan fries to have an extra portion of my own. Speaking of the Amp's Burger, it was delicious. Do yourself a favor and add bacon and avocado, because it will really set it off, yes Gawd! Additionally, the tiramisu was the perfect end to the meal. I left Amplified Ale Works full, tipsy, and happy. If you're vacationing or hanging out in Pacific Beach, this is a great place to end your day on a high note.

Yelp
Love this place. Good happy hour prices and a great selection of beers. Food is great as well. They have great patio to sit at and I'm always able to find a table.

Yelp
Been here twice and I love it! Good beer, really good food, and a cute outdoor space to dine. I also really like the music and the laid back atmosphere inside!!

Yelp
3.5-4 stars for the location & what it is. They had decent food & good service. - Döner Fries: pretty big plate & good for sharing. It had a lot on it and the flavors were good. - Skewer Plate with salmon & sirloin: it was ok. The meat was rather dry and not very flavorful. The fried zucchini was the best part of the dish. - Phish Tacos: pretty good. The fish was deep fried and had good flavor. It came with some goodies on top and a flavorful sauce.

Yelp
The place has a cool vibe, but I'm not a really big fan of ordering on your phone. I'm old school I guess. We opted to go to the bar to order. I was ignored by at least 4 staff members until I finally approached someone and asked for a menu. Once I got their attention they were nice but it's like they wanted to avoid dealing with me. The food came out quickly and the burger tasted great. The menu was confusing because it sounded like it comes with fries and you can substitute chips, but it's the other way around. The chips had no flavor or seasoning Good location. Maybe some better customer service would help. Not sure if I would try it again

Yelp
Great food, drinks, and views. My wife and I have been going every other week for 5 years and we love it. One of my favorite spots!
google avatar

Bri J.

Yelp
Was looking at area menus and this place stood out due to the bowls, wraps, and options. My friend and I were delighted that the food was delicious! I had a skewer plate with chicken and steak both. Quite a bit of food came with it, and the salad was actually my favorite. We also appreciated the outdoor seating options, the fact the patio had a slight ocean view, and the service was also quality. We might have a new favorite when in PB!

Moises L.

Yelp
Great place for sunset! Tons of beers on draft and a great spot to see sunset. Margo and Rowan make this place very welcoming. They had great recommendations and made my friends and I very welcomed. Sweetest servers ever! If you want to feel like you have a grassy field backyard on a rooftop by the beach, come here!!! Fried zucchini is the best appetizer!

Andrea N.

Yelp
The view is really good from the top deck. However, the service needs some help. No one greets or assists you when you walk in. No one explains that they want you to sit at a table and then scan the table #'s bar code, then put in your own order. My friend finally went inside and had to make a waitress come out to serve us because The app that they use to make customers order without service kept failing. They also only advertise as being craft brews, but they definitely have hard alcohol and should state this on the menu and advertise. I really loved their fried zucchini the first time I had it, but the second time it had probably three times the amount of red pepper flakes that did initially.

Yelp
Sadly this use to be one of my fav spots in the area and the reason for my last 3 star review was because of bad service but now the food here has even declined. My boyfriend and I came today. I got the lettuce bowl with lamb like I usually do and so many pieces of the lamb were so chewy with gristle. I was literally spitting the chewy lamb into my napkin and then hoping the next bite would be better. My boyfriend got the skewer plate. The beef was chewy and the rice was undercooked. We also got the doner fries with lamb and the lamb was again chewy and the fries stale as if they had sat out and then been thrown back in the fryer. I unfortunately won't be coming back here anymore.

Melissa A.

Yelp
Ordering your food through your phone sucked couldn't customize it. I got steak tacos it was gross and the fries were way too seasoned. The fish tacos were dry and gross no sauce on them. Horrible experience will never come here again.

Casey D.

Yelp
Oh f***. Oh f***ing f***. The food here is absurd. Literally the best restaurant in all of SD. It's to die for.

Hana T.

Yelp
We went in July, around 7:30-8pm, on two weekdays. Both times it was very crowded. We managed to get an outdoor table or a bar table both times, after a bit of waiting. We did at first get an indoor table one time, but the table was sticky, and that evening there was some kind of trivia going on and it was super loud inside so we opted for an outdoor bar table. The waitresses were friendly, the lights and atmosphere was pleasant, the view of the sunset was enjoyable. The food came quickly. The appetizer sampler was delicious and had parmesan fried zucchini, pita bread, and falafal, with 3 dips, and a salad. We liked it so much that the 2nd time we went, we ordered the same appetizer platter. They only had an apple crisp dessert available which we didn't try. We had wanted either the creme brulee or the tiramisu but those weren't in stock. Something about the manager being out so those desserts weren't there?

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming to Amplified since it opened. We've always had great experiences and tasty beers. Unfortunately our last visit was less than desirable. This time we had several family members join us. Two of them found hair in their food. The restrooms were very dirty and the toilet seat was broken. The option to order and pay on your phone was great, but ultimately it felt like a way for management to operate with short staff. After we finished eating the plates stayed on the table for the remainder of our stay. This was not the fault of the staff, as they were constantly busy helping customers. Bottom line, they needed more staff. I will continue to come to Amplified because I'm a PB Rat and I love beer, but management can do way better.

Yelp
Food: Got a chicken rice bowl with habanero sauce. So delicious and a good quantity that might be enough as a leftover too! Habanero sauce was great and not too spicy. Drinks: Got a flight of beers. Loved that I could pick any 4 from the menu. Ambience: We sat in the patio which was great and had heaters. Service was prompt even on a busy day!

Michael V.

Yelp
Used to be a place to until ownership changed it to a fast food type place. Service is terrible. Place is now empty. Had to bus our own table.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
3.5 stars... Started out with the Mediterranean platter...fried zucchini, falafel balls, dressed greens, and hummus... all was good except the pita which were tough. Doner fries were excellent! All the meat and toppings you could ever want, and complimented the cool hazy brews I was loving! Ambiance is coastal attic, staff was helpful and prompt, and prices were in line with the area. Might not be in our regular rotation, but we might be back!

Yelp
We went to Amplified Ale Works after a long day at the beach. What was cool was that Amplified was located on the top floor of a 2-story complex, so the restaurant had great views overlooking PB. The general seating of the restaurant appeared to be mainly outdoor with a dog-friendly patio. We were able to be seated at one of the communal-style benches on the deck. Kudos to our server, who separated our checks by couples without us even asking! It made paying the bill go by quickly and simply. She was also very friendly and attentive enough. My boyfriend and I split a couple of items on the menu. We got the Amp'd burger with a side of seasoned fries as well as Parmesan zucchini to share. The Amp'd burger was not that great. We asked for the burger to be medium, but it was certainly well done. The texture of the beef patty was unfortunately dry as well. I wasn't at all impressed by the sun dried tomato spread. If it was intending to give off Mediterranean flavors, just putting feta cheese crumbles in the burger won't do it. The flavors on the fries were an unusual combination like Cajun meets BBQ seasoning. The fried Parmesan zucchini appetizer was probably the best thing we got, but it could've used more salt.

Yelp
This is a cool place with fun activities like trivia and good beer. This is not somewhere you go to eat. I have tried a bunch of different things from their menu but the food disappoints every time. The loaded fries were especially terrible, the fries were over cooked and dry. There's a server with glasses who is super attentive and nice.
google avatar

Yelp
We were staying in the area for vacation and happened upon this place. I loved the vibe and music, and the drinks are a great price. The food was pretty good and they have a kid's menu. It said to order at the bar, but both times we went we had table service. Our servers were very nice. One of them (I can't remember her name--recently graduated from San Diego State) was really incredible and was kind enough to fully engage with my 6 year old, who was excitedly giving her his whole life's story.

Mick W.

Yelp
Favorite spot for a delicious meal and craft beer in Pacific Beach. Great healthy options for food at a fair price point. The view of the ocean from the patio is fantastic.

Tony B.

Yelp
The lamb is still soooooo bad (ordered the döner kebab fries with lamb). This used to be one of my favorite spots in SD and I don't understand what happened. It's now a self-service restaurant, which is totally OK, but that isn't an excuse for food quality. What happened to the lamb meat?!
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
This place has sadly really gone down hill. The food was inedible - the pita hard as a rock, the chicken bowl flavorless and the chips tasted like they were fried in rancid, old oil. It used to have delicious food but we won't be going here again. Such a shame.
google avatar

Philomena L.

Yelp
Group of 6 ordered 3 orders of fries, got only 2. Had to ask again to get the additional fries. It took longer than 30 min to get each item. The fries were pretty bad. Seasoning was interesting but the fries themselves were some of the worst I've had. I ordered a kombucha and had to ask twice to get it. Waited a good 30 min for that, too.
google avatar

Erik N.

Yelp
I've been a fan of amplified since they were at SDSU and they have always had delicious food. Thy recently expanded their menu and I was pleasantly surprised by it. The main burger is absolutely delicious and I ordered the doner fries, like always, and they were the largest I've ever seen. They have a great selection of beers. And the service by Jeff was great. This is a regular spot for me and will always be. Pro tip: order tons of sauces!
google avatar

Yelp
We went here with a group. Didn't have our reservation, there was a hole in the deck floor which made people fall and the food made a couple of us sick. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant. Bad experience overall.

Yelp
We loved this place! Great setting with a rooftop indoor/outdoor beer garden. The view of the water is mostly blocked by a nearby hotel, but it's still a nice view and ambiance. All the food and drinks we ordered were delicious and service was very efficient. Highly recommend the fried zucchini and the fried chicken sandwich!

Yelp
Nice view, looks pretty busy and clean. Friendly staff. Waiting to see how the food is.

Yelp
A great outdoor lunch spot on a winter day in San Diego doesn't get any better than Amplified Aleworks. From the patio we watched the waves roll in while dining on delicious food including a falafel bowl, fish, tacos, and of course, doner fries. Our server, Mitchell, was attentive, friendly and a pure pleasure. We recommend lunch or dinner as Amplified is consistently a wonderful place to hang with friends.

Yelp
Mediterranean food + beer! My first time at a brewery that serves Mediterranean. Decided on some Doner Fries ($~15), which came with chicken as my protein (chicken or lamb) and plenty of kebab toppings, such as feta cheese, tomato, and whole lot of aioli/sauces. My friend got a donor wrap with potato chips. The doner fries had a lot of flavor, especially the chicken, and were loaded with the toppings and meat. Usually places offer a lot of fries and not a lot of toppings, but this place had the opposite; I wish there were more fries. My friend's wrap looked delicious and a good portion. Drank a pale ale to wash it down. Service was awesome from our server and vibes are cool, especially on their outdoor patio where most people hung out on a Tuesday night. Food came out in about 5-10 minutes, which was great.
