Our room (#1) was clean and sunny with a lovely little patio. We ate a delicious but pricey dinner in the downstairs restaurant. Our only disappointment was the meager breakfast but otherwise we highly recommend the hotel. It’s well-located to visit vineyards and the town of Isla de Maipo is charming. The manager was very helpful.

This “hotel” is just handful rooms attached to the main restaurant in this small town. Think of it more as a guesthouse than a hotel. It is manned by the restaurant waitstaff and maid / cook that comes in for a few hours each morning. As a result you will need to ask for anything you need like fresh towels, linen or room to be cleaned. The staff were very helpful when asked but some things were beyond their job description.||The rooms were clean and budget, the best one is #1 which has a small terrace. Weekends are noisy with karaoke and loud music playing at the restaurant and lots of shaking of the building that effects the rooms. The breakfast was basic but sufficient with freshly cooked eggs, bread and fruit. ||We stayed here with the hope of using it as a base to explore the famous Maipo valley wine region of Chile. This is easier said than done. The whole “wine tasting “ market is geared towards wealthy tourists transiting a day or two in Santiago and as such the main offerings are overpriced day trips from Santiago including average wineries and entry level tastings. ||Staying in Isla de Maipo allows you to explore more boutique and family run wineries on foot (de martino) or by bike as there is an nice bike path connecting Santa Ema to Terramater. You can also catch a local bus between the two. Note some wineries are closed on Sunday and museums close on Monday so plan your trip accordingly. ||The town itself is basic and has two small supermarkets and the hotel as the main restaurant/ pub. There is a tourist office that can help arrange wine tasting bookings and transport. You will have the opportunity to practice your Spanish throughout the whole town including at the hotel and tourist office.
