"Amsterdam Cafe was a popular gay-friendly bar and restaurant at Amsterdam Walk, known for its covered patio and hosting drag shows, dance parties, political fundraisers, and LGBTQ sports league events for 15 years. The space was taken over by Guac y Margys in 2021 before its closure in 2023." - Beth McKibben

The location is the best thing about this place, you can walk right out of the park onto their outdoor patio, which can be very pleasant if you are ok with smoking. The drink menu is reasonably deep but the food is just mediocre. Service was acceptable and the price point seemed to be reasonable for this restaurant. All in all, not a bad place.

So in this space I view it as a tucked away gem, that's waiting for others to rediscover Amsterdam Cafe... I believe the staff are great the food good as bar food can be.... But in all things Atlanta, people look for how something can be reborn like a phoniex from the ashes... So in that I would say give them a chance, they are Gay friendly if that matters to you, right off a section of the beltline.... My Humus wrap and bean salad was good to me...

Great neighborhood bar and patio. Very "Cheers" friendly vibe especially among the regular patrons and staff. Perfect spot to chill before or after a day at the park and Beltline. They always have my favorite beer and lemon pepper wings!!! Good food at decent prices in Midtown. Can't beat it!

I had a conversation with a friend the other day it went like this: I went to the Amsterdam the other day. Really? Yeah, we were killing some time, and wanted to get a drink before we met our friends. We knew there was a bar back there and decided to try it. It kind of a dive. Yea, it's run pretty run down inside, so we hung out on the patio where there's a nice view of the urban body people working out in the parking lot. You know, it's a gay bar. So you've been there? Oh yeah, lots of times. It's a standard. Drinks are decent. Good beer selection. Great people-watching. Yeah, it's not my thing. I could see that.

Just a good vibe sets in as I enjoy my IPA on the outdoor patio. Dogs are always welcome and Ms. Beautiful approves of this location. Wonderful service from people who care. Try not to come at prime time hours to avoid wait times. Local Beers on draft always in rotation. I will be back.

I truly enjoyed my evening at the Amsterdam Cafe. We had our dog with us, and the staff was very accommodating. The staff, the food, the beer selection, everything was excellent. The beer selection was so good you felt like there were things on the menu that you would see nowhere else but there. Even the other people on the patio were extra friendly, giving us local tips and talking to us as though we were regulars.

Bad service, bad food, only whites get service here. My wife and I came here with a friend and our dogs after going to the dog park. The waiter was fully rude upon welcome, ignored us, never refilled our drinks, and expected us to put our whole order in upon his first visit to our table. When I asked the owner why we were getting bad service, despite everyone around us getting very good service, he didn't have much to say, until I asked if it was because we were indian. Rather than assure us of anything or try to resolve the situation, he immediately got defensive and said we were projecting racism onto ourselves. I somehow doubt I would have come to such a conclusion if the service I was receiving was on par with everyone else, but all the tables around us were getting their drinks refilled, and getting checked on. We were simply ignored. The owners sole defense was "everyone is getting bad service" If you're defense is "Everyone gets bad service," then you should find a new business venture and let the professionals run restaurants. 0/10 will not visit again, not even to use the bathroom. Maybe this place should put the "Whites Only" sign back up...

My date and I came in looking for a nice drink after walking through the park. We walked in and tried to look for someone to seat us but no one responded. We then found a spot to sit at the bar, the bar tender continued to serve other people. We spent a good 15 mins trying to get the server's attention even though not many tables were seated. We ended up leaving.
