This was an awesome place to eat! I loved the different portraits of Van Gogh. The food here was very good too. The chips were warm and fresh and the Pepper Jack Chicken tasted great. Our server came around to refill our drinks often and she was very polite.

A bit late submitting this review but wanted to make sure I got it in. Went to Amsterdam for my niece’s birthday. The atmosphere was quaint, had a nice seating area to accommodate our large family group and the service was friendly and relatively quick. Now, for the food, I wasn’t particularly thrilled with it. My wife and I got the burger with bacon and while the flavor was ok, it was very dry. Even after ordering medium well. Mine ended up being pretty well done. I’ve had much better burgers elsewhere. My mother in law got the bolognese, which was not good at all. Looks like there was hardly any sauce on it and the noodles were over cooked. My father in law got the shrimp and grits and he seemed to like them ok. We also got some of the lobster egg rolls and they tasted like they were out of a box. We also had the spinach dip which was cheesy but lacking in flavor. All you could taste was the spinach and the artichoke bit needed some more garlic. This was a first and probably last time visit for me.

This is one of my favorite places to eat for date night with my husband - which is why I also chose it for my 42nd birthday. I’m a sucker for their risotto! :) The front and back rooms have two different ambiances. I prefer the back room personally.

My daughter has been raving about Amsterdam since she’s been living down here for almost 10 years now. Every time I call on a Sunday I ask her how her weekend was and usually has to deal with a meal at Amsterdam. Now I could understand why. for a birthday celebration we came here for dinner, and it was not what I thought it was. I thought it was going to be a stuffy uptight restaurant, and it was a complete opposite. Essentially located in a semi residential area on the edge of campus. Upon walking in you’re in the older section of the restaurant, where we were seated. In back is a very nice dining area and also have an outdoor eating area. , where we were seated. In back is a very nice dining area and also have a outdoor eating area. As an appetizer, we ordered the grilled brussels sprouts and the calamari. The calamari was very good, with a Red sauce that was almost like a sweet-and-sour red sauce. Not your traditional marinara red sauce. It was very good and very tasty. The grilled brussels sprouts were delicious. Brussels sprouts were bedded over a Gorgonzola cheese, I think. I’m not a big cheese person, therefore, I try to avoid the cheese on it, but the brussels sprouts were still very good. As an entrée, I had the shrimp and grits, which was delicious and also had some of my daughter’s chicken mac & cheese. Which was very good. The mac & cheese had collard greens in it. Watch was exceptional. The flavoring was spot on. Another entrée was the salmon with mashed potatoes, which is a gluten-free. The person who had that and truly enjoyed it, and said the same was cooked perfectly. We talked about dessert, but we didn’t see anything that was too interesting, therefore we decided not to get any. Highly suggest reservations on weekends especially on game days and parent evolved weekends. Found parking literally right in front so it was not an issue, but it can’t be an issue I think. There is a lot behind Amsterdam, but it is unknown if you could park there or not no is it posted if you can or not, but there’s a lot of towing signs. If you’re In Auburn and want a Auburn traditional restaurant, highly suggest Amsterdam

Good food, ratatouille fratada, lobster egg rolls in a marmalade hot sauce, turkey wrap.

Google
Ate here before a show at Auburn and loved it! Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. It’s a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious. Everything my we had was nice. I would highly recommend the lobster egg rolls - those were so good I could have made them my main meal. Overall a lovely experience and I would definitely eat there again.

We were passing through leaving Georgia headed back to mobile Al and I'm so glad I found this cafe to stop at. It was so good. I had the crab cake and avocado on croissant bread with a ceaser salad. Before I knew it my plate was empty and it was to late to take a pic. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely eat here again

Google
Great dog friendly patio seating with delicious eats. Service was attentive and gracious. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and the fried chicken and candied bacon sandwich with ranch fries. We tried a delicious allocated bourbon.

Marlowe M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food and wonderful service! We brought our dog and sat outside, and the staff was so nice - brought him water bowl and treats even. The food was great too. Pimento Cheese and Spinach Artichoke Dip were phenomenal. Not necessarily cheap, not also not expensive. Atmosphere was nice too - Auburn students there but it didn't feel like a college bar

Yelp
My daughter took me to eat here for the first time, I loved their food, the seasoning and flavor was chef's kiss, I must admit that i was skeptical when i read the menu lol , I am latina so obviously the name of the plates and description of each made me feel the food was going to be bland but i was totally wrong, I can't wait to pay a visit again because it was just so good. The staff were polite no complaints at all

Strelets M.

Yelp
We've arrived from Florida with children, and the place is fully booked. What a disappointment. Any good place has to keep "open" tables for walk-in customers, unless you work like a "reservation only" restaurant.

Jason S.

Yelp
Love this place. It's bigger than you would think upon walking in as there is a big back room plus a great big patio. Will definitely do the patio next time as I sat in the up front smaller area at a high top table and the vibe was not as good as the other areas of the restaurant. Also didn't like that they kept on MMA fighting on all the TVs during normal dinner hours. This isn't that kind of place and it felt off watching people bash each other's brains in with little kids around. Food and drink were excellent. The old fashioned was great. I like that they used square cubes. One single big cube is best but small square cubes over ice chips are nearly as good. The pork chop was tremendous. Cook was perfect and the sauce was delicious. The real star, however, were the sides. You really can't beat getting THREE sides, all of which were delicious: collard greens, black eyed pea succotash and a biscuit. Service was attentive. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Teresa H.

Yelp
Chloe was an excellent server. This blackened salmon salad was probably one of the best salads I have ever eaten. The dressing is something I could eat daily. I wish we lived in Auburn so I could eat here regularly. When in town, we will be back. My husband had the burger and fries and was not disappointed in any way. .

Jan K.

Yelp
My favorite casual Auburn restaurant for years. Always get the crab cake croissant. Always pleased with food, service, and ambience.

Jd R.

Yelp
The food here is incredible. I was completely blown away by the incredible service, the beautiful presentation, and the amazingly flavorful and healthy food we had. I ordered the Crab Cake and Avocado Croissant Sandwich with a garden salad and it was incredible. The salad was huge and delicious. The crab cake was perfectly seasoned crab magically held together with the lightest crumb that was crunchy on the outside and perfectly teamed in the middle. Nothing soggy or bready about this in the least. All of the extras were perfect for sampling with the crab cake and I enjoyed all the different flavors. The croissant was wonderful, fresh, and very tender. My husband ordered the burger and it looked and smelled incredible. His food came out first, and honestly I was filled with regret when I smelled his food . . . until mine came out and I was blown away by how lovely and delicious it was. I don't think you can go wrong here! Everyone in our large group loved their meal and our service was excellent.

Megan R.

Yelp
Love this place! The turkey pinwheels are my actual favorite! The hummus plate is super unique as well. Great, reasonably priced, fast casual restaurant that feels much more high end than a fast food place. Also love the reusable cups!

A M.

Yelp
Been there 2x since original review. Second visit asked for burger well done, no pink. Came out pink center. Also, little 1 ounce ketchup cups not enough for burger & fries. They bring 1 at a time unless ask for 2 or 3. Third time, got bolognese. Looked/ tasted like hamburger helper. Service terrible. Hostess acting as only server mid-afternoon Saturday. She did not seem happy, neither were we. Not going back.

Kate W.

Yelp
Great little area outside! The food was awesome! Amazing fries!! My server Christie was very attentive and super sweet! I will be back for sure!

Jana N.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch during the week, this place was busy! We did not have a reservation, I would suggest doing so. We had a small wait but were still seated in a timely manner. We ordered their special for the day, Cuban sandwich along with side salad. Everything was delicious! Cannot wait to come back.

Cherith F.

Yelp
Amersterdam Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants in Auburn. The food is consistently good and the service is great, too. Our current visit to Amsterdam did not disappoint. Our waitress was very attentive and our food and drinks were delicious. I had the prime ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus and my son had the Chicken Gemelli Alfredo. Both of our entrees were served hot and fresh and were so tasty. We had the fried green tomato appetizer, which was very good as well.

Rick C.

Yelp
The Ribeye's are always great here for dinner, as well as the fish. Just had lunch for the first time and I think they have the best burger in town! Can't wait to get it again. Service is always great too, and restaurant stays clean.

Samantha H.

Yelp
The lunch menu is so affordable and great options. For dinner the apps are really tasty and good cocktails too! Super good option if you aren't wanting to spend a lot of money!

Chris S.

Yelp
Amsterdam is a cool spot and an Auburn staple. Really neat restaurant and always good service.

Macy T.

Yelp
Stopped in as this restaurant was highly recommended and I'm not from the area. I walked right in and was able to place a Togo order at the bar and had my food in less than 5 mins. Staff was kind and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious and I'm so glad I made a point to stop in and give it a try. The Turkey wraps were nicely cut into small pinwheels and great for dipping into the honey mustard and ranch I asked for on the side. The sweet potato chips are homemade and very light/crispy. The ranch and honey mustard were also delicious. All in all a great experience here. They have full service seating, a bar, outdoor patio, curbside pickup, and Togo. There is parking for pick up as well as parking for dining in at multiple places around the building. Definitely exactly to come back and try more off the menu!

Mel N.

Yelp
At first glance, I didn't really think there was much to offer, but was I wrong! There I got their daily special which the ingredients are one of my photos basically a really lien beef burger with pepper, jack, cheese, and bacon and my choice of side was there a home made, sweet potato fries, so delicious! I hope they have this daily special again when I am in Auburn, Alabama! Great service good suggestion to get the daily special

Camille F.

Yelp
Solid spot in Auburn. I am usually disappointed by the food, though. It's usually too tough, not quite served hot, lacking a bit of flavor, something like that.

Jessie L.

Yelp
amazing atmosphere and incredible food! the people who work here are so nice and helpful and it's an Auburn staple of mine! So delicious and always bring my family or visitors here!!! Yum yum yum can't recommended it enough also the salmon is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! tomato soup is fire too

Aileen B.

Yelp
Great food at Amsterdam Cafe. Our server Cameron was great. Make reservations. They take them for lunch.

Stickee R.

Yelp
The food has gone downhill over the years. Yet the prices are as high as ever! The ambience has also taken a hit because the restaurant packs in as many bodies as possible, which can make for an uncomfortable dining experience. Despite this, the service is excellent as always! Especially considering that they are the first to hear customer complaints, you'd never know it by their demeanor. Still an Auburn institution, but try to go during non-peak times.

Bob Duncan

Yelp
We went to the downtown Auburn Amsterdam Cafe. We first went to the other one (less nice, more of a fast food) and they were nice enough to direct us to the right one (similar menus, but not the same). We ordered a burger medium done. We received a medium well burger (tasted burnt). Service was nice and respectful but was so slow and barely showed up to give proper service. I ordered a grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheeses I make at home, all ingredients from walmart and from a 3 minute Youtube video, were better than this one. Although I will say the tomato soup was really good. To add on to the drama we had noisy teenage boys in front of us to make it even less enjoyable. Lastly, there was little to no service inside, but as soon as I stepped out, everything loaded.

Marianne T.

Yelp
The food at dinner was excellent! Great choices all around from starters to entrees. The scallops and lobster risotto was wonderful as was the fried chicken with lobster Mac and delicious collards!! Our server was top shelf!!!

Nancy B.

Yelp
Excellent experience. The food was so great. Ansley took very good care of us. We were there celebrating my sister's birthday. She ate her favorite, the Rum Salmon salad. I had the crab cake with avocado. Both were excellent. Ansley suggested the lobster eggrolls for an appetizer which were delish. Thank you for a memorable evening

Chris R.

Yelp
Great service. Came on Monday and they had half off glasses/bottle of wine. I got the Cobb salad with crab cake & avocado . Food was fresh and filling.

Barry O.

Yelp
This is for the new cafe- I recognize it's a football weekend but it was terrible. We waited over an hour to get food and had to make three trips to the counter asking about our food. Finally got one app and then about 10 min later the other. Rest of our dinner 20 more minutes and the hamburger was black burnt! No one said sorry. They are overwhelmed and need help. If I hadn't been here before, I would not come back. I will say the crew was working very hard- they were again overwhelmed.

Donna M.

Yelp
Excellent. Love the crab cake and avocado and the Turkey wrap. Best sweet potato chips!

Tim S.

Yelp
Great food and service. The fried chicken and macaroni dish was spot on. Be sure to book a reservation if you have a big party.

Monica W.

Yelp
The food and service is always spot on! The chicken and waffles were delish! The bloody Mary's I think are one of the best ones I've had. Service was wonderful!

Michael C.

Yelp
Might be the most consistent restaurant in auburn, good food and service is always top notch. Real cool environment also, it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but once you go in the restaurant is actually very big and new. The tuna w fried rice and broccolini is my go to every time. Side note they probably shouldn't have expanded the new one in North Auburn is really bad. Been 3 times and every experience has been terrible. Worth the drive to go to original going forward .

Bull X.

Yelp
Ordered the Rum Salmon and Lobster eggrolls via DoorDash and it was delicious and well packaged for delivery. Couldn't be happier with our first dining experience at Amsterdam Cafe!!

Kari P.

Yelp
The best shrimp and grits --ever! At least in there top two. Texture, quality and flavorful! Hearty portion for the price too.

Lori G.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner on our last night in town and so happy we did. We were seated in the back downstairs which was cozy and very comfortable. Our blond server was very sweet, very helpful and made us want for nothing. We started with wine and calamari which was very good and then one of us had fried green tomatoes and the other had a steak sandwich. If we lived there, we would frequent this place often even if just for the ambiance.

J H.

Yelp
very tasty chicken salad with all the fixings. quaint interior close to AU, parking around back is easiest. a little pricy but what isn't these days. worth it for the overall change of pace with a tasty flair.

Pico F.

Yelp
The berry goat cheese salad was wonderful. If you like salads, give it a try. Service was great. Everyone was friendly.

Penny B.

Yelp
We celebrated dinner with a few family members for Rachel's graduation. The ambiance was great, the dishes were fresh and delicious, especially, the Brussel sprouts with cream sauce. The waiter,Baxter, was friendly, attentive, and awesome. A must to dine. Thumbs

Jake S.

Yelp
Bartender was super cool. Food is good a little on the more expensive side but still reasonable for the quality. Best espresso martini I've ever had hands down and good setting for a casual lunch.

Elli W.

Yelp
Amsterdam is my favorite "casual" find in Auburn. They have food for any individual with any dietary restrictions and preferences. I have been multiple times, and every time I find myself ordering the Pear Salad w| Salmon. It's delicious. The spinach & artichoke dip is also INCREDIBLE. The staff are all friendly making for a good experience! You can make a reservation via RESY.... Which I recommend on a gameday or busy weekend, but I have always been sat right away.

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Had hoped it would be as good as it used to be. Had the lobster rolls and the seared scallops. The lobster rolls were just blah. The scallops were spoiled! The pasta was good but could NOT eat the scallops. The waiter did not even notice neither my husband or myself touched the scallops. Would not go back!

Russell J.

Yelp
They reuse the glass, ketchup bottles, and the neck has old caked up ketchup. It looks terrible. The white label is brown and I don't like to touch it. The steak sandwich was boring.

Olivia S.

Yelp
One of my go to places when I'm in AU! Absolutely love the lobster eggrolls and rum salmon salad. It's perfect for a date night or eating with a group of friends because the menu has plenty to choose from. Sana was my waitress tonight and she was fantastic! Her timing was always perfect and she took great care of us. Wonderful experience and food!

Carolyn C.

Yelp
The food was very tasty. Unfortunately I had ordered the scallops with lobster risotto. I was informed that they had risotto but were out of lobster. I still had the scallops and the risotto at a discounted price and the scallops were cooked perfectly but because of the absence of the lobster I couldn't give them a five stars. Everyone else had delicious meals. I was a bit confused with the service as they brought the next course before clearing the dirty plates so we were trying to make room. The ambience was good and we enjoyed ourselves overall.

Owen T.

Yelp
First time being to this Amsterdam because it is fairly new. Got food within 10 minutes so excellent service, I got a turkey wrap and it was the best turkey wrap I'd ever had. Not a huge pickle fan, but even the pickle on the side tasted good. Will definitely come back! It was a great place to eat after church!

Linda K.

Yelp
My husband and I were staying in Opelika for a pickleball tournament, and found this jewel in Auburn. It was way before the dinner hour, so there was no problem with parking or finding a table. Before we arrived at Amsterdam Cafe, Hubs complained that he didn't want "pub food." I assured him that the limited menu had plenty of variety, and surely he'd find something he liked to eat. He ordered the pork chop with assorted peas, greens, and a biscuit. He was blown away that it was cooked to perfection. He loved the accompanying barbecue sauce so much, that he asked for more to slather on the pork. I ordered a well made cup of tomato soup. It was rich and creamy, with Boursin crumbles floating on top. With the soup, I had the small Cobb salad with house made Gorgonzola dressing. It was a generous amount with lots of goodies that could barely fit in the bowl. I asked for half and half tea with lots of lemon. Rarely do I get more than one lemon slice. I got four!! Yay me! Our waitress was most helpful and cheerful. We LOVE this place!!! Don't miss it!

Robert D.

Yelp
We randomly needed up at the Amsterdam Cafe this past weekend. We wanted a place to kill a few hours and have brunch and drinks. WOW! This place is awesome. The drink and food prices are great for the portion and quality. Eve our server and she was fantastic. Great personality and made us feel welcomed and she paid attention to details and never let a glass get close to empty. I had shrimp and grits and she had chicken and waffles. Both were seasoned and cooked perfectly. We will be back there! Love this place.

Kelly E.

Yelp
The space is small but cozy. The wait was long but worth it! The turkey wrap was great and the chocolate cake even better. Our server was amazing. Definitely will be going back.

Zhicao F.

Yelp
Had a quick lunch here. The place is named "cafe" but it actually serves a full menu with a large collection of wine and beer. I had a steak frites, my friend ordered pan-seared salmon, and we shared a shrimp with grits. I had the steak medium but it came out more as medium rare, and a bit cold. The taste was alright. While the fries were crispy and nicely seasoned, the hero of the dish does disappoint a bit. Shrimp tasted fresh and the grits were OK, but seasoning was a bit too salty for my taste. My friend's salmon was also nice, but a bit too heavy in sauce. Overall, a passable place.

Herb L.

Yelp
Well. I came to this place because of a recommendation from my banker here in Birmingham. She said I had to get the Turkey wrap because of the unique lahvosh cracker wrap. She said it gave the wrap a unique crispiness to it. Well. Mine didn't have that. Very bland and plain and way soft. If it wasn't for the honey mustard dipping, it's tasteless. Like literally nothing on but a tortilla, turkey, nothing else. Second dish was recommended by the waitress. The crab cake avocado sandwich. What a disappointment it was. I first tasted the crab cake itself. Definitely heavy with tuna and other stuff minus the crab. Second, I ate it as a sandwich and it's way too soft to be in a sandwich. Using croissant as bread was neat but overall, kind of bland and again, plain. The mustard like sauce was good and must be added to give any flavor. I would not get this nor whoever said this has to be 100 thing to eat before you die haven't travelled outside of Auburn. Lastly the general comfort and atmosphere. Lots of young people working. Everyone were very nice and well mannered. Some of the low tables and chairs were uncomfortable and they definitely didn't want my party of 2 to be seated in a booth. I later opted for high table with better cushioned seats. The solid wooden seats weren't for me. Overall, bit of a hype by my bank manager. Never would I listen to her advice on food. Oh. The Carolina Fries were GOOD. Definitely pay that extra $2. The fries brought it to 3 stars. Don't get the kettle chips. Again. Very plain.

Steve C.

Yelp
Nice place with a warm, yet casual atmosphere. Very close to Auburn Unv campus. Tonight I had the crabcake and avocado sandwich. The crabcake itself had decent flavor, but was a bit mushy and fell apart as I was eating it. Would be better if the crabcake had more of a crust on the outside, which this patty did not. The croissant exacerbated the situation as it did not hold the soft patty well and it too also fell apart. IMO not the best bread option for the patty. The remoulade was a great condiment for the sandwich. The mango salsa, I thought, was an odd concoction for the sandwich but it also worked well. This sandwich has a lot of hype on their menu, but I agree with many of the reviews that I have seen and the sandwich is just that which I have read - hype. I would give this sandwich a two out of five stars. I got a side of fries with the sandwich and they were crispy, battered nicely, and seasoned well. They have a good selection of draft beer and wine. Service was efficient.
