Very new and fresh and clean interior with very beautiful decor. The food is good and well priced. I had a green curry and it had a good amount of chicken and was tasty. The crab fried rice had a great flame grilled taste and left a great fun sensation in the mouth. It was also surprisingly affordable at 22$ Staff is nice too! This is really great place to go, will definitely come back. Gluten is not labeled on the menu but the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. The menu does say it accommodates vegetarians as fish sauce can be taken out of any dish.

Based on great reviews I decided to try Am Thai yesterday. The service was excellent and the atmosphere inviting, clean and bright. The appetizer was great (firecracker shrimp), shrimp tightly wrapped in beautiful thin and crispy exterior, served with a lovely sweet chili sauce. Just perfect! It made me quite excited as I awaited the main course…which sadly tasted and looked quite the opposite of the appetizer. I ordered stir fried eggplant, basil and beef. It tasted far from anything Thai, basil, flavorful or appealing. Sadly it was a plate of disappointment doused in a sweetish heavy brown sauce. I hope that lovely little places like these don’t feel obliged to alter their authentic food to appease to common taste. You have a good set up, Am Thai, hope you bring back the authentic taste of home to your restaurant ❤️

Google
Hands down the best Thai Food that I have ever had, and I consider myself a Panang Curry fanatic, and Am Thai has the BEST one period. Perfect balance of spice and the kefir limes add the perfect balance! It is spicy as it should be, but they can adjust the spice for you. They even accommodated my special request of Cripsy Duck with Panang Curry! So nice of them! The duck was delicious!!! Service is impeccable! Atmosphere so cute!!! We had the yellow curry as well—AMAZING too! Great chicken satay with amazing stay sauce perfect thickness to it. For desert we had the Mango Sitcky Rice and Fried Banana—both delectable! I cannot wait to try everything else on the menu! Burke definitely has hidden gem in Am Thai. I cannot recommend enough!

Google
AmThai By Kanjana is hands-down one of the best Thai dining experiences I’ve ever had. From start to finish, every dish was prepared with care, cooked to perfection, and bursting with authentic flavor. We started with the chive dumplings. Crispy on the outside, soft and savory on the inside, with a dipping sauce that brought everything together beautifully. The Tom Kha Chicken was comforting and aromatic, with just the right balance of coconut, lemongrass, and lime, rich, tangy, and soul-warming. The Beef Noodle Soup was hearty and deeply flavorful, with melt-in-your-mouth beef and a broth that could be its own course. The Pad Prik Pow brought bold flavors, tender protein, and perfectly stir-fried vegetables. The Crispy Duck Krapow stole the show. Crispy skin, juicy duck, and that fragrant holy basil punch. The Soft Shell Crab was expertly fried and paired with a sauce that elevated its natural sweetness. Both the Panang Curry and Green Curry were out of this world, creamy, layered with spice, and packed with complex, comforting flavors. The Kha-Na Moo Krob had the perfect textural contrast of crispy pork belly and tender Chinese broccoli, bathed in a savory, umami-rich sauce. For dessert, the Thai Donut and Fried Banana were golden, crunchy, and sweet, totally addicting. And of course, the Mango with Sticky Rice was flawless, sweet, ripe mango, warm sticky rice, and that luscious coconut drizzle. Beyond the food, the service was top-notch, attentive, kind, and thoughtful throughout. The restaurant’s ambiance is elegant and cozy, creating a lovely backdrop for an unforgettable meal. If you’re in Burke or even remotely nearby, this place is an absolute must-visit. A hidden gem that deserves all the praise.

The presentation of each dish was beautiful, and the portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming.Menu prices is good. The service was excellent too — the staff was friendly, attentive. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed lunch & dining experience. Overall, a fantastic spot for Thai food lovers. Will definitely be coming back!”

Google
Friendly, delicious Thai spot. I wish the portions were bigger. Next time, I might order an extra dish because the food was great.

Google
Terrific neighborhood Thai restaurant. Very good food, solid service, decent space. Highly recommend trying the specials as well as the main menu. Photos of Heavenly Pork, Brussel Sprouts special, and red curry. All great choices. More than enough food for two people. Looking forward to leftovers. Highly recommend for family and friends dining.

Google
Our first visit and it was exceptional. Ambiance was pleasing and tranquil. We ate in. The service was excellent, very attentive for the entire meal. Chef came to our table to make sure we were satisfied with our dinners which were delicious and well proportioned. A great value for the cost as well. We will be returning.

Yelp
Phenomenal service. Nice open ambience. EXCELLENT selection of food. My first time at AmThai but will be My new Go To for authentic Thai cooking!

Yelp
Tried the crab fried rice and papaya salad. The fried rice was tasty, had a decent amount of crab meat, and favorable portions. The papaya salad was delicious as well with the right kick of spice. Place had a cute decor and service was nice. Overall a good experience.

Yelp
We tried their Pad see ew and fried rice. So good! I love the texture of the noodles and the flavor. It was seasoned just right it wasn't sweet or salty just balanced. Good portion size and decent amount of protein in our dishes. I'm coming back to try more things!

Yelp
Fantastic Thai food with super nice owner. I enjoyed my green curry and my partner enjoyed their drunken noodles

Yelp
My brother and I were craving Thai so we swung by after work. This place is located in a strip mall with other businesses so theres plenty of parking. We ordered 5 dishes: 1) Firecracker shrimp 2) Crispy tofu 3) Green curry 4) Drunken noodle 5) Mango sticky rice. The firecracker shrimp was crispy and delicious served with sweet chili sauce. They were fried well enough that even the tail is edible. The crispy tofu fell flat for us. The outer layer was mediocre and soft, it wasn't crispy at all. It was tasty and served with a sweet sour sauce topped with chopped peanuts. The green curry was on point with a hint of heat and umami they was served with steamed rice. The drunken noodles with beef were scrumptious and filled with flavor. The noodles were wiggly and the aroma from the wok was amazing. For dessert, we got the mango sticky rice. Upon asking about the sweet coconut sauce, our server stated it was already infused in the rice. Again, the mangoes were unpredictable so the dish was okay. If only there were a drizzle of the coconut sauce, it would have made the dish better but unfortunately the warm rice and tart mango was just okay. Our server was friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was clean and has some interior decor.

Yelp
Very good cozy place in Burke. Date night it is solid. Excellent quality. The chicken ka prow is so very tasty. It is regular, or if you're brave they can make it spicier. Be forewarned though! This is my favorite dish, but they have also duck, fish, and pork options too. If you want a soup, ask your server for a recommendation, as they change these out fairly often. This is reasonably priced. The teas are good for you, although usually my main drink is their ice cold water. Their dumplings are decadent and full of flavor. By all means am happy to say "go here," as a welcoming and polite staff are here. The inside of the restaurant is clean and well organized. Definitely give this spot a try, as more likely than not you'll be back.

Yelp
AmThai appears to be a family run restaurant where service is great and the food is good as well. Their Tom Yum soup was good and spicy. The Papaya Salad was refreshing. We always try the Pad Thai at every Thai restaurant and theirs was a little more saucy than typical but still tasted great. Ordered with shrimp that were decent sized. Ordered their seasonal curry pumpkin currywhich was good and tasted like panang curry. Also ordered their pineapple fried rice which also a bit more saucy than expected but still good. The portions seem to be fairly large. Worth visiting for the good food and great service.

Yelp
You can always expect excellent service with a smile and delicious food at AmThai by Kanjana! It is my absolute favorite Thai restaurant in NoVA and my go-to spot for Lad Na. However, their special/seasonal menu is also not to be missed. We recently had Soft Shell Crab Pad Thai off their Mother's Day menu and it was so good!

Yelp
I stopped by for dinner on a Friday night and ordered the drunken noodles, fresh spring rolls, and Thai iced tea with boba. The drunken noodles were great! So yummy. Noodle texture was perfectly chewy. The spring rolls had way too much lettuce in my opinion and I didn't like that it was pre-cut. But the peanut sauce was really good. My biggest qualm with this place is that it took 35 minutes for the food to come out! I felt like I was waiting around forever and the restaurant wasn't that busy at the time. Overall I would probably come back since the food was good and the ambiance inside is nice (very aesthetic and cute) but hopefully the wait is shorter next time.

Yelp
Nice location and interior. Everything was surprisingly fast and the food was actually really fresh. Definitely a place I intend to visit again. Papaya Salad was really good.

Michael B.

Yelp
Food was great and the ambiance was really lovely and the server was kind and helpful! Not your typical strip mall Thai!

Yelp
I was near by yesterday and my family wanted Thai food. I normally go to my other thai restaurant but we stopped here to try it out. The pad thai was had good flavor and the ambiance was very nice. I would definitely come back again

Yelp
Delicious Thai food in such a cute restaurant. Was in the area visiting my family and saw that a new Thai restaurant had opened up in the local shopping center and decided to grab to-go food for dinner and I'm glad we did! The woman who took my to-go order over the phone was extremely pleasant and I believe she was also the one who then processed my card and was very nice in person as well. The restaurant is beautiful inside and next time I'm in the area will have to dine it. Now onto the food... The food was top notch. We tried the following dishes, black pepper garlic chicken and it had wonderful flavor. Also had the chicken with basil I can never remember the name but it was number 19 on the menu and was absolutely delicious as well! Great flavor! Great restaurant!

Yelp
I stopped by a while ago before going to Hmart for groceries. I liked the environment, the food, and it was fair pricing to me. My only real gripe was maybe the portion size. The dishes were on slightly smaller side to me. It was enough I guess but on the smaller side. The server was nice and accommodating. Had the mussels, pad thai, papaya salad, and fried rice. All dishes were well presented and tasty. I would go back again.

Yelp
I've passed by this place a couple times and finally had a chance to try. They have delicious pad thai, drunken noodle, and crispy duck! The pad thai was one of the best I've had. We just got takeout but service seemed friendly and fast.
google avatar

Caroline A.

Yelp
My new favorite Thai restaurant! Have you ever had a dish you liked so much that you swear you're going to order something different next time but just can't? That's the pad see ew with the perfect amount of wok-smokey flavor. They also add more veggies than any other Thai restaurant which is greatly appreciated.

Yelp
This is my go-to Thai restaurant! There are plenty of Thai places around me, but in my opinion, this one has the best food. As someone from Malaysia who is very picky about food, I can confidently say this is the most authentic Thai cuisine I've found in the DMV area. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this new Thai restaurant that opened up in the shopping center! I've eaten here a couple times and thoroughly enjoyed my meals. The pad Thai is good and the crab rangoons are delicious! They are large and filled side to side with cream cheese. If you've never tried a Thai curry puff this place has got it down. Flaky pastry wrapped around a sweet curry potato filling. My only gripe is the Thai tea is not very sweet and a very light flavor. Other than that everything is very good!

Yelp
AmThai has been on my list for awhile as I saw it while visiting HMart. It's located in Burke Village Center between HMart and Spartans. Huge, free parking lot. Wow! Didn't know an aesthetic cute restaurant existed in Burke! It was pleasantly surprising and very "instagrammable". As soon as we entered, we were greeted and seated. We got the mojito (very refreshing) and AmThai cosmo (kinda reminded me of a Sangria). Our waitress was nice and efficient. Food came out pretty fast. My friend got the tom yum soup and pad thai, I got the Chicken Pad Krapow. The Krapow was fresh and tasty. The Pad Thai was good but average. Would be interested in trying their drunken noodles next time! TLDR: if you're looking for an aesthetic restaurant with good thai food, highly recommend! What a great addition to the Burke restaurant scene!

Yelp
The food here is surprisingly good considering it is located in Burke where there aren't that many great eats. I got the pad Thai w/shrimp and a Thai ice tea. Pad Thai was perfectly cooked with a nice balance of flavors. Def would recommend. Panisa Thai about 10 mins away is good as well, but I think this place beats it.

Yelp
Popped in here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised on all accounts. It's a chic little restaurant with a relaxed ambience that would be nice for lunch or dinner, dates or family outings. I seated myself and was quickly attended to by the server, Nora, who arrived with a glass of water and promptly took my order. The menu boasts your standard Thai fare with vegetarian options. I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu and it was ready within 10 minutes - maybe less. The dish was HOT and spicy, but absolutely delicious. The server checked on me several times. All in all a five star experience and I will be back! -- Nora was great!

Yelp
Let me order for you: Panang Curry chicken is what you want; medium spice if you're squeamish, but Thai spicy will make you cry tears of culinary joy. It's a ton of flavor, with spices that retain their individual character in the finished dish, lending complexity. For dessert, do the Thai donuts with ice cream. The donuts are crisp yet soft pillows of tender dough, evoking everything delightful about carnival funnel cakes, but without being too heavy, and the cold ice cream pairs nicely with the hot donuts.

Yelp
Beautiful decor, clean and bright! Thai food typical for this area at an average price. Ordered a crabmeat fried rice that had good amounts of crab meat; could have used more vegetables than onions and tomatoes. Really liked the sauce that tastes like fish sauce with lime juice! Volcano Seafood a little sweet and the vegetables a little under cooked. Service was friendly and quick; above average so will have to come back to try some other dishes! Good to find a good Thai place nearby!

Yelp
FIVE STARS!!!! This place was initially in Springfield, VA called Kanjana Thai, but closed down. I finally found them and I travel 30 mins across the bridge to get this!! The spices, seasoning, service, and ambiance is superb! I will always travel to get this food. Please try it for you will NOT regret it!

Yelp
My experience here was 10/10. From the service to the food. Everything was so amazing. I ordered the drunken noodles, and my boyfriend got the fried fish, as an appetizer we shared the beef soup. Everything was so delish, the server we had was amazing and so kind. Will be here again. The cocktails also weren't too expensive. I stuck with Thai tea but noticed they had $10 cocktails. Will be back!

Yelp
I have been waiting for AmThai to finally be open and was so happy when I saw it as "hot and new" on Yelp! We ordered takeout from AmThai on a weekday night. My husband went to pick it up, and he noted they seemed surprised to have a customer. He described the inside as minimal with just a few tables. The order was ready in less than twenty minutes. We had Tom yum soup with chicken and larb gai. Thé Tom yum was Thai spicy and they are not playing with making it as spicy as you'd hope for if you order at that spice level. There were big chunks of chicken too. I was surprised by the amount of chicken cause usually it's minimal. The larb gai was one of my favorites in this area! I loved the mix of salty and sour with a touch of spice. I think I've found my new go-to for Southeast Asian cuisine!

Yelp
If you're looking for a new Thai restaurant to try, AmThai is definitely worth checking out. Located next to the HMart, the restaurant is spacious and nicely decorated. The service was prompt and attentive when we went but also which happened to be during off hours. We started our meal with a papaya salad and tom yum soup. The papaya salad was flavorful, but I felt like it was also missing something (maybe a little more peanuts). The soup was decent and tasted as expected, nothing to special. For entrees, we ordered beef drunken noodles and beef pad see ew. The noodles were silky and cooked perfectly, and the beef was tender and flavorful. The pad see ew had the right amount of sweetness to it. There's supposed to be an egg in it but I couldn't really tell, so I hope next time they either cook the egg in a wok as a whole and not scrambled or at least add one more egg. As for spice, I ordered my dishes "Thai spicy" and I was a bit disappointed that there was no real noticeable heat to any of our dishes, even with the papaya salad that I ordered. I eat a ton of spice and so naturally I love to eat my Thai food with true levels of spice, and not just some "sprinkles of black pepper or one small chili pepper flake". While there is room for improvement with the spiciness levels and proportion of ingredients in some dishes, we were generally pleased with the quality of the food. I will be returning and trying more dishes in the future. Overall, it's a solid choice for Thai food in the area. 4.5/5

Yelp
AmThai by Kanjana was a pleasant surprise, nestled in the Burke Village Center. After having a not-so-great meal earlier, we decided to check this place out for a re-do. When we stepped inside, we were told that we could sit anywhere; the place itself is very well-decorated, being chic, bright, sophisticated, and clean. The menu is pretty extensive, offering various appetizers, soups, entrees, noodles and rice dishes, curry, house specialties, and desserts. They also have protein options (chicken, pork, tofu, beef, shrimp, seafood (shrimp, scallops, mussels, and squid), or mixed veggies) as well as the option for dishes to be prepared without fish sauce. We ordered: +Crab Meat Fried Rice - Thai-style fried rice with crab meat, eggs, onions, tomatoes, and onions; we opted out of the cilantro and the tomatoes, but the cherry tomatoes still came with the dish; I was surprised with the large lumps of crab in here, and the price was super competitive compared to other Thai restaurants that serve the same dish; while I love onions, the slices were large chunks and could have been diced smaller +Pad Thai - stir-fried thin rice noodles with bean sprouts, eggs, scallions, and ground peanut; we opted for shrimp as the protein; I did ask this to have extra sauce, as I do like my Pad Thai a bit more saucy/on the wet side; the noodles were prepared perfectly al dente; the shrimp could have been more fresh and be deveined better +Drunken Noodle - stir-fried flat rice noodles with onions, bell peppers, and basil leaves in a spicy basil sauce; we opted for tofu, which were deep-fried; they had a thicker skin, which made it a little difficult to eat; I think we were thinking we should have dried the Pad See Ew instead +and, Thai Ice Tea - loved the strong tea flavor and the creaminess of this drink - they make it very well! Portions are super generous and can be made into at least 2 more meals! I'd love to try their Chicken Satay, Curry Puffs, Deep Fried Whole Fish, Soft Shell Crab, their curries, and their Pad See Ew next time. Staff were very friendly, welcoming, and had a great sense of humor! We noticed many patrons calling in and getting their orders as carry-out/to go, which shows how popular this place is! Plenty of parking in the large plaza lot. +Crab Meat Fried Rice +Thai Ice Tea +friendly service +located in the Burke Village Center

Lisa C.

Yelp
First time I've been here. I ordered the chicken fried rice and pad see ew, great flavors and we'll return again however, the pad see ew just had a bit more sugar for my taste but good nonetheless.

Yelp
Service was friendly and prompt and things seemed clean enough, but the food was terrible, especially for the price. We had drunken noodles and pork belly with Chinese broccoli. The pork belly was soggy instead of crispy and the broccoli was stems only, it was also bland. The drunken noodles was also terrible. We had an appetizer of shumai, although it was called something else in the menu, and it was definitely frozen and defrosted.
google avatar

Shanan F.

Yelp
Great tasting fresh food. Fast service clean restrooms. Meat was fat free and lean. The food came out super hot temperature wise. A little pricey but expected for dinner menu.
google avatar

Ria P.

Yelp
Nice, clean and bright restaurant, staff were pleasant, but busy as only one server. But the most important thing the food, it was mediocre. Spring rolls were not fresh, they were the frozen kind, mushy inside. My green curry was very spicy even though I ordered mild, the kids pad Thai was barely touched, it was not great. Sad because the interior is soo nice.
google avatar

Frances S.

Yelp
The food was great, though it was a little expensive for what it was. The waitress was very attentive. The space is cute and comfy. We noticed a box of kids book near the entrance, so I would expect this to be a good place to bring kids.

Yelp
Food is delicious, the service is great. Everyone is very nice. The surrounding has a great modern look to get. I will come back!
google avatar

Yelp
Always have good food here, but yesterday tried the Chicken Soup special: it was so good.. the broth was delicious as was the chicken leg in the soup. The white meat was a little tough, but the soup was all about the broth and chicken leg which had that 5-season flavor. It included bok choy and onions as well as thin rice noodles at request. I have enjoyed the eggplant dish in the past which is very tasty. The service was and always is excellent; very fast and pleasant. It is a very clean, pleasant atmosphere.

Yelp
Delicious Thai food! And they delivered in a timely manner during a downpour. We will return!!

Yelp
Beautiful presentation, Beautiful establishment. We visited them the week they were opened. Took an hour yo get out food (that was no problem knowing it was new and we understand it may take a few months to get up and running, but the staff was busy and it showed they were overwhelmed. Cost of food and portion serving size is absolutely reasonable for the area. The menu has many items to choose from. Unfortunately I did not find a lot of traditional Thai dishes other than the standard ones "safe choices " for safe eaters. Being a thai food lover and having a lot of knowledge in the thai culinary art, the menu was not impressive. Flavors were mild and safe. Be sure to ask for the thai condiments tray with sauces and chili to enhance the flavor.
google avatar

Nicholas S.

Yelp
We were not prepared at all for how terrific the food here is. I love Thai and have eaten at just about every establishment in NOVA and this is seriously a new hidden gem. I had Tom Yum noodle soup and it was one of the best I have had in a long time. Next time I may order it a bit spicier, but the favor is incredible. My wife ordered the Pad See Ew, which isn't always my favorite, but this was by far the best I have ever had. It had so much savory flavor. My mom got the Pad Krapow which was also very solid. She got it non-spicy which I don't recommend, but it was still a great dish. Thank you all, I will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Great new addition to the Burke community :) I'm so glad there's a Thai place here I can count on now. It's been open for a minute and I've been meaning to try. Right next to the H mart! The inside of the restaurant is sooo cute and cozy, super clean, including the bathrooms. Love The food is GREAT! Very flavorful, everything is not that spicy either and they seem very willing to tailor to your taste. I very much enjoyed the drunken noodle (I got beef and the meat was super well seasoned), also took a bite of my boyfriends pad see ew and it was soo delish as well. Highly recommend and welcome to Burke yall!!! I will be back!!

Yelp
Walked Into this place a few months back and instantly became a regular. The place is BEAUTIFUL inside compared to your usual hole-in-the-wall Thai place in the area. Everything I've had has been delicious, and I'm always trying as many items as possible. Drinks, appetizers, the large entrees, even the desserts, all well worth their price. I will say though, while they do everything well, some of their dishes are more authentic and may not be for everyone. My roommate on his first two outings with me didn't like his food. First time he ordered spicy (it was too spicy) then second time ordered laab (and found out he didn't like laab). But even he now loves this place and it's become his go-to Thai spot in the area!
google avatar

Jessica Z.

Yelp
Staff is always friendly and location always seems clean. Pad Thai is my families absolute favorite from this place. Their Thai tea is delicious. We always order their chicken satay, the sauce that comes with it mixed beautifully and feels fresh. Only thing I'm not a fan of is their eggrolls. The filling just feels like mush. We still go back for the chicken satay, fried rice and pad Thai. Still our regular spot up here in Burke.
google avatar

Jiwon L.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a weekday. To start, we had the fresh spring rolls. The peanut sauce was good! They also had a spice rack (pickled jalapeños, chili oil, fish sauce, and a red spice powder) so you can add whatever you felt like adding. The protein was ground chicken (tofu was the other option). We also had the drunken noodles and the red curry. The drunken noodles were very well sauced; it wasn't too soggy or overly salty. The red curry was also evenly seasoned; it wasn't too sweet. There were eggplants which were a nice surprise!! There wasn't anyone else in the restaurant, so we got good service. The interior of the restaurant is very pretty. The bathrooms were really nice too! Overall a nice place to stop and eat before heading to the mart next door!

Devon M.

Yelp
Great little place in Burke! Food is excellent, food is fresh and cooked to our personal tastes (not crazy spicy). Clean, neat, nice decor service is excellent and attentive. Chef came out and said hello, nice touch. We'll be back!

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place a week or so ago because we frequent this plaza, and decided to give it a shot. It is beautiful inside! The staff is very friendly and they have a decent selection of appetizers and plates for every palate. We tried the firecracker shrimp, the crispy duck krapow, and green chicken curry. One star each for food, service, atmosphere and cleanliness. Would like to be back to try out other dishes.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good! It tastes a little bit different from other Thai restaurants. But dishes taste really good. I ordered Tom yum soup noodles with shrimp and my husband ordered some curry dish with duck, and papaya salad. Every dish exceeded our expectation. And the restaurant is well decorated. Warm and welcoming.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Great, friendly service. I go for the Fried Crab Rice. Best around. Glad they're closer to me now.

Yelp
It was just OK. The portions were small and tasted average. We won't order here again.

Yelp
We've been here a few times and we've enjoyed it every time. Great Thai food. We love the cheese wontons and the taro pastry a lot!

Yelp
We tried AmThai for the first time and had great experience. Great attentive service and very good food.
