In the private roomette, we got the seats that turned into a bed and didn't have instructions on how to put the seats back into seats once turned into bed. Thus, my bf cut his finger, trying to adjust the bed back into seats. The room was extremely filthy, outdated, broken table, filthy used dirty tissue box, sticky fuzed closed safety instruction pamphlet, dirty shoe print walls on the top bunk (from a previous person who had the room), duck tape ceiling near the vent for the ac and the air in our room didn't work until half way on our train ride. When trying to get food/drinks, we "tried" to use the tabel. The tabel is at a 60 degreese angel downward. So we had to hold our open top drinks so they wouldn't spill.... The room "tabel" seemed to have gotten broken / bent because it was hard to lay flat and put back into its stow spot. The "chef" inspired meals were ALL microwave meals. The lady in the dining car definitely tried way to hard for those tips. If they served real food, maybe it would be worth giving extra money on top of the hundreds we spent to be on a nasty outdated train from the 70's/80's. We couldn't leave our door to the roommet open for to long, since we were near the restroom; all we would smell is the toilets. I'm never going back on an Amtrack train ever again.
