I was a little afraid that this place would be too fancy for a week night by myself. I got a few funny looks from the other patrons when I walked in, but the server was very pleasant. The chef sent over a small bite, I have no idea what it was, but it wasn't very good. I started with a Hertenheer, which is a blonde beer from the area and is a little bitter but nice and light. As an appetizer I had the half portion, which is what the Amu option is, of the Asparagus, Flemish style. I had no idea what Flemish style was, but apparently it's white asparagus in butter with hard boiled egg. The half portion was 3 spears and it was very tasty. The egg was diced very small, I thought it was cheese before I tasted it, but it went very well with the asparagus. As my main I had the Herb-Crusted Veal Loin. It came with zucchini, tomatoes and fried potatoes in veal au jus. The veal was cooked perfectly. I'm not sure that the herb crust really added anything to the dish, but it didn't take anything away. The potatoes were fantastic. My main was exactly what I wanted. For dessert I had the Rhubarb, which came with meringue and lemon cream. I didn't know what to expect, since I don't usually have rhubarb unless it's in pie. This was spectacular. I don't know how else to describe it. I would come back just for the dessert and it will dance through my dreams for many nights to come.
