Remembered having a meal at Amy Heritage Nonya Cuisine in Malacca some years ago, so when we drove pass that restaurant yesterday afternoon, we told ourselves we must make another visit (remembered it was good but somewhat forgotten the taste of dishes we ate). So this morning I sent a short message to the restaurant reservation number to make a reservation for lunch. Within 5 minutes, Oliver (son of Amy) replied to accept my booking. Great! Wifey and I arrived the restaurant just before 1pm. The external was a little run down (as should be since they had been operating for many years), the furnitures were old but everything was neat and tidy. Same old restaurant we knew. Oliver greeted us and led us to our table. Placed our orders quickly: Ikan Gerang Asam Udang Lemak Nenas Kangkung Belacan White Rice It was a pretty long wait for our orders to be ready. We kept ourselves occupied by browsing their accolades and watching activities within the restaurant. Oliver and the other serving staff were busy serving, meticulously clearing and cleaning used tables. Hmm…very hygienic. Our orders started to stream out after half an hour. Oliver apologized for the slow delivery of food. The Udang Lemak Nenas was uniquely wonderful. The gravy was so lemak yet not overpowering, in fact very appetizing. Six good size prawns with eight pieces of pineapple cubes in the rich but light gravy which I added to my rice “like soup”. I was literally spooning the gravy to drink. The Ikan Gerang was sourish and delicious. I normally don’t like sour food but this dish was so delicious. Three good slices of “steak cut” snapper fish (Ang Go Li) was used and it was so fresh! The Kangkung Belacan was just satisfactory (we later found out from Amy herself that her assistant cook probably didn’t follow her recipe strictly). Must say that our long wait for food was well worth it. Food served were authentically Nonya. Amy was very nice, she came out later to speak to diners and we had a long conversation with her. This 82 year old chef had kept herself well and very willing to share her recipes. We enjoyed our simple meal thoroughly and will surely patronize again whenever we’re in Malacca.

High recommend for those family with kids or senior citizens because the food is delicious and yummy. Their portion quite big although it mentioned as medium. For those spicy lover not so recommend as their food overall are less or no spicy and a little big sweet

I’m not much of a Nyonya fan but this place has fantastic food. I’m surprised this place is not 5 star when it should be. The pie tee and fried chicken is the best in the country. I came all the way from KL to eat her food. Been eating here for the past 10 years. We ate until 3pm eventhough they close at 2.30pm. They were kind enough to not chase us out like other restaurants. I highly recommend this place!

Food is delicious 😋. The medium portion of the dish is quite a lot. Ordered for 4 dishes with rice and noodles are enough for 4 adult and 2 kids

A hidden gem where time slows down — Amy Heritage is poetry in bricks, wood, and spices. Stepping into Amy Heritage feels like entering a lovingly preserved story — one where heritage breathes through the architecture, and every detail is a quiet celebration of culture and care. The atmosphere is warm, nostalgic, and effortlessly elegant — a space that soothes the soul. And then there’s the food — the Nyonya cuisine here is nothing short of a love letter to tradition. Every bite carries depth, history, and heart. The flavors are rich, layered, and thoughtfully prepared — like being welcomed into someone’s home for a family recipe passed down through generations. The service is gentle and attentive, the kind that makes you feel both cared for and left to dream. If you’re searching not just for a place to stay, but for a place to feel — Amy Heritage is where memories begin. Thank you for preserving the beauty of heritage so gracefully.

Visit date: 3/8/2024 The food this round impressed up more than the first visit! We were really pleased and so left with satisfied and happy tummies! The dishes tasted homey and very much like how a Nyonya family would cook them. My Nyonya mother approved the food! We ordered: - Chicken Pongteh - Ikan Gerang Assam (⭐️highly recommended!) - Kangkung Kobis Keledek Masak Titik Lemak - Taibak (maybe can skip this, not great) Rice is free flow and Chinese tea also refillable. Very good service by a polite, soft-spoken and friendly Malay guy. He literally was the only one running back and forth serving food, taking orders, cleaning tables and attending to customer requests. There are 2 other Chinese men around but seems like the Malay guy was doing most of the work. The drinks lady literally only does the drinks and desserts and even when she was free, she didn’t bother helping around at the front of the house. Best to make booking for weekends cos it’s usually full house.

Delicious wholesome food that is clearly cooked from the heart and with years and years of crafting and perfecting. It really is some of the best food you’ll taste, Nyonya or otherwise. If you don’t know what the cuisine is, just go try it and you’ll be hooked I guarantee! We both love Chinese and Indian food and Nyonya food in a way is the best of both is how I’d best describe it, with some Malay and Portuguese influences also thrown into the mix. Usually our first port of call when arriving into Malacca. We actually got off the bus yesterday and jumped into a taxi straight to Amy’s for her Chicken Curry! Loads of chicken swimming in a sauce full of flavour and spices. It’s our favorite dish but plenty other dishes to try and even the appetizers like the ‘pai tee’ are delicious and a nice way to start off is with a few of them - they are thin little pastry shells stuffed with fresh sweet vegetables. Amy always finds time for a chat and it’s so interesting to hear about how the recipes have been passed down to her, how she learnt and how she’s crafted them while maintaining the true authentic tastes. Food portions are huge (we share the medium size curry and by the time we finish it, are always full to the brim so it’s plenty for 2 people). And we’re always kept topped up by the staff with rice and iced tea too who are also equally as friendly and attentive. Have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years now and will coming for the next 10 too. If you’re in Malacca go have your lunch or dinner there you will not be disappointed! 🤤

Yelp
Finally, we had visited Amy Heritage Nyonya Cuisine before leaving Melaka. This is one of the popular Nyonya Food that have good feedbacks on the media. It is Halal and just as what was written by everyone, reservation in advance is needed. Being walk-in customers, we were only offered one of the outdoors tables out of the two, non-airconditioned but there was a ceiling fan. As we settled down on the outside seats, the servers were quick to service. Service was friendly and efficient when handling their menu as soon as we sat down. We flipped through the menu and notice that there were only medium and large portions. As the dishes does not contain pork and lard, it is suitable for Muslim's consumption. The crispy top hat with shredded turnip filling and served with chilli sauce. Glad that it was not too oily. Pie Tee - RM 2.00 / Each Lime Juice, Barli & Lime, Cincau - RM 2.00 Each Was looking forward for a bowl of Duck Soup with Salted vegetable and sour plum but it was not available, thus we order their recommended Hee Peow Soup. It is noted as "Nyonya Wedding Soup" with dried fish bladder , quail eggs, fish ball and vegetable. Hee Peow Soup - RM 25.00 The Nyonya style mixed vegetables was indeed tasty with carrots, black fungus and cabbages.. Chap Chye - RM 13.00 (Medium) Ayam Pongteh is a classic chicken stew with soya bean paste, chinese mushroom and potatoes. The portion was generously served with couple of chicken drum sticks and delicious. I love its gravy and perfect to go on our plates of fragrant white rice. Ayam Pongteh - RM 21.00 (Medium) Amy's serving of rice was quite different from the rest of the Nyonya Shops we went in Melaka. Rice was kept in a traditional old hand held basket. Rice - RM 1.50 / Pax As the basket was quite big and space was rather limited at the outside seats, the servers placed the basket using another table. Our finisher for the Nyonya feast was non other than the MUST HAVE dessert, Cendol. The green jelly has a soft texture soaked in gula melaka and coconut milk. Cendol - RM 3.00 Amy Heritage indeed has a given a homely taste to all the dishes. Coming to its portion where minimum order is medium, its not recommended for small group to dine. In addition to things to take note, do make advance booking to avoid disappointment.

Yelp
The dishes we ordered were hit and miss. Some very good, while some were nothing special. Nevertheless, it was a nice restaurant. Spacious and airy and very welcoming. Congrats on the Michelin star!

Yelp
Flavorful nyonya cuisine, not spicy but tasty and aromatic. Packed even on a Wednesday evening so reservation is recommended before arriving.
