Google
Got the Oreo milkshake from Amy’s Ice Creams at the airport, and it was exactly what I expected, classic, creamy, and full of cookie bits. Nothing groundbreaking, but definitely hit the spot. There was no wait time, which was a huge plus in a busy terminal. The price was on the high side, but that’s typical for airport food, but I still have to put that into its overall rating. If you're craving something sweet before a flight, it's a solid choice. Just know you’re paying a bit of a premium for the convenience.

Google
Good ice cream. Long wait line that wraps around front. Small, medium, or large size serving cups are available. Bought two large cups of hand dipped "Belgian" chocolate ice cream. Got one plain and the other with white coconut and big walnuts added...easy portions. Ate both while waiting for a flight out. The cost was $21.06 total, which includes a punched in tip. Overall, it was refreshing, but nothing to write home about....lol

Google
Amy’s is another Austin original and I am especially fond of it because in the 1980s, the original Amy’s opened up in what used to be a Texas French bread literally around the corner from me. I used to go there all the time for the very first days of their opening and still go. Their ice creams are excellent with a lot of unique flavors.

Elizabeth Tam

Google
Amy’s Ice Creams is delicious and you can tailor the ice cream to your liking but having the toppings mixed into the ice cream!

Jodi Meyer

Google
Flippin' ice cream made with real sugar, hand beaten with your choice of toppings. These talented folks will play catch in fabulous ways. Mexican Vanilla is the BEST! Add fresh strawberries for a true Austin flavor. They will let you sample flavors, and even offer dairy-free or vegan options. It's the first place I stop when I land in Austin, and a much better way to wait for my luggage. ...or for my departuring flight. The waffles cones are made in-house as a bonus. Check out the to-go kits, which make a wonderful gift for those who greet you at the airport, whether here or there.

Andy McNeil

Google
The dark chocolate is dark magic. I'm not sure what they do to get the consistency to an almost marshmallow type feel, but damn...I would get that again, and again, and again... The guys serving were also pretty cool - great crew that day. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it, and then bring a franchise to Las Vegas, we eat ice cream all year.

Google
Very quirky , fun flavors of ice cream . Reasonable price for an airport . The service was really good . There were no long lines . Definitely try the Mexican vanilla

Paloma Uribe

Google
All the amazing Amy’s Ice Cream flavors available at the airport! Super friendly crew, combos and merch available. Located by Gate 21. No matter what size cup you choose, you can get multiple flavors. Toppings are great, I loved the fudge.

Yelp
Usually I expect airport locations of popular local establishments to provide watered down service and a moderately similar product to their out of airport counterparts. Never would I have thought I'd find an airport location superior to the original but this spot breaks the mold! The service is friendly and efficient. The staff will occasionally perform ice cream tricks, make modifications when requested, and always provide conversation, samples and a fun time! I ordered The Local, a sweet cream base Sunday with mixed nuts, sea salt, and marshmallows folded in. The entire concoction is topped with fudge and a passions sprinkle of sea salt and hot fudge. I'm aware that my dessert doesn't look like the most aesthetic dessert you've ever seen, but it certainly delivers in flavor! After trying the dark chocolate, I mixed that in too, and subbed the marshmallows for snickers because...calories don't count in the airport right? Right?! Anyways, if you're having a tough airport day, or need an airport pick me up in anyway, this is THE spot. Pro tip: since this spot does not have seating of its own. Take your ice cream for a walk towards the lower numbered gates until you find live music (it's usually playing), or the comfortable, blue, floor to window facing lounge seats. Bonus points if you catch either during sunset!

Yelp
Tried the Mexican vanilla and the Belgian chocolate. I liked the vanilla more. The chocolate was too sweet for my taste but it was good too. The service was fast.

Yelp
As always, this is the perfect treat for our layovers. They always have at least one vegan option as well which is a big plus!

Yelp
While at the Austin airport, I wanted ice cream and we happened to walk past Amy's. I had to stop and get some. I got the Belgian Chocolate and enjoyed it.
google avatar

Maithili S.

Yelp
I was looking for baskin, came across Amy's instead. Loved loved the Mexican vanilla flavor. Creamy. Not super frozen, hate the brain freeze that comes from some ice cream shops. And very reasonably priced. Tiny scoop is really not that tiny.
google avatar

Annissa D.

Yelp
Came here with some friends while waiting to board a flight. Though overwhelmed with how many flavors there were, the staff were extremely kind and patient! I highly recommend the chocolate strawberry one.
google avatar

Yelp
Before our flight to El Paso, we decided to have an ice cream treat. My wife had a small Belgium chocolate and I had a small butter pecan. Both of the selections were creamy and delicious. The butter pecan was very nutty, no skimping. Great service!
google avatar

Yelp
My flight had a 4 hour delay and my Mexican vanilla scoop made me happy. Not too sweet and I have no complaints. It had a hint of cinnamon.
google avatar

Veronica L.

Yelp
Luis was great. Let me try several flavors and told me I can get different flavors. Settled on coffee mixed w butterfingers and heath bar and a little of the mixed berry tres leches which he said was his current favorite. They mix it on the cold stone which was fun and cool to watch. Great service.

Yelp
I just have to say, bless the AUS airport for having an Amy's Ice Creams counter. There was a little bit of a line but it moved pretty quickly. The servers were excellent and knowledgeable about all my ice cream questions. It's also located near other great food options, so my mom and I were able to grab some tacos and then get the ice cream here for desert. The spot is adorable and next to the cutest airport bookshop. Anyway, will make a stop here any time I'm at this airport.
google avatar

Yelp
WOW FACTOR? Austin airport has a great variety of food sources and overall has the lowest prices of any airport I've been to in years! Upon arrival in Austin, we stopped here. And, upon departure we came a second time. HAVE AGAIN: Mexican vanilla and chocolate ice creams were delicious and cost only $6.30! A hot fudge + almonds + vanilla sundae was also delicious and cost only $9.90. Delicious ice cream.
google avatar

Yelp
The lady with pink hair that's about 6 feet tall was incredibly rude and dismissive. She was just exuding toxic energy. I ended up throwing my blended coffee drink away after spending $11 because she made it too strong. I would not recommend this place.
google avatar

Kennith F.

Yelp
While at the airport, I decided to give Amy's a try. Staff was very friendly (and a little quirky, right on brand for Austin). Got lots of information and generous sample of both Dutch Chocolate and Dark Chocolate. Price was reasonable. However, I found the ice cream itself a little mediocre. The cream was exceptionally thick (almost overly frozen?) and left an unusual aftertaste in my mouth. Not the worst I've ever tasted, but wasn't worth the hype in my opinion.
google avatar

Ellen M.

Yelp
Really exceptional ice cream - I was pleasantly surprised. I got coffee with a mix in of Heath (small size) and it was perfect. Super creamy and dense, definitely get your money's worth. Service is fast. They have smoothies too.
google avatar

Amy X.

Yelp
Same prices but different flavors from the Amy's on Guadalupe. I love that they are patient while you try samples and let you split even a "Tiny" into 2 flavors. I enjoyed my "Junk in the trunk" (Mexican vanilla with Oreos & chocolate chips) and Zilker mint chip (had much bigger chocolate pieces but otherwise tasted like a good standard mint chip). I basically got a modification of the Texas Dirt Cake and Thin Mint I got at the Guadalupe location yesterday I recommend them all!

Grace C.

Yelp
Leaves a bit of an artificial after taste. Tried the cookies n cream and wasn't a fan. Didn't think you can go wrong with cookies n cream. Rather pricey and disappointed.

Yelp
Hanging out at the airport with a long layover. The Dark Chocolate helped get through the long wait. Great service and friendly server. Many different flavors that change over time. The ice cream is smooth and also has a marshmallow texture. Would definitely stop here again as we traverse the Austin Airport.
google avatar

Yelp
On a layover at the Austin Texas airport and was looking for something to snack on before my next flight. Luckily they had smoothies here as well as ice cream! My bf got a Soco Stroll and I got the Açaí. Consistency was great, and mine was not overly sweet. By bfs was kind of tart... not my favorite. They can be pricey, about $9 each. Not bad! Their ice cream looked delicious...

Yelp
In town visiting the area. Had to stop by this phenomenal ice cream spot on 6th Street.... And then again at the airport! Brilliant idea!!! ! The staff makes the experience super awesome...the ice cream makes the experience awesome!!! Wow the place had some decadent ice cream. I had the Mexican vanilla with a crush in of gummy bears. I had a large size which was just what I was craving. I wanted to take a pint to-go however travel via the plane doesn't make that doable. The girls loved ice right before the plane ride as they had been good all weekend!!! The friendly staff offered up samples and explained what was in each flavor I inquired about. If you get to Austin, Texas or wherever else Amy's Ice cream is offered...you definitely eat it. You can thank me later. I was very pleased with the service. The product has me wanting to visit more often. Thank you for the hospitality! Respectfully, Bryan OKC I would love a location up in Oklahoma City ! #JustSayin
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
I find airports boring and kinda depressing. People just waiting mostly with a glazed and tired look or rushing. We need things more things at airports that make people happy like...ice cream. I don't remember seeing Amy's Ice Creams during previous visits and it made me smile when I saw this on this trip. Of course I had to stop. I got a sundae with Mexican vanilla, Belgian chocolate and extra fudge and pecans. It was good. The staff were super nice and cheerful. It was cute to see a couple of them dancing. Keep doing you and spreading cheer!
google avatar

Grace L.

Yelp
The kids tried chocolate and cookies and cream ice cream. I tried their Mexican Vanilla Cream, Chhai Tea Ice Cream, Butter Pecan. Oooo! One of the best ice cream I've had! No cheap though! About 7 cups per small cup. Fun flavors. Unique employees wearing fun shirts like tie dyed! Such a fun vibe here! Why I love their ice cream and I was willing to pay premium price in their airport? Well... I can't go to the airport bar, I got my two young boys with me and its cheaper than a drink at the airport! It's so good! Creamy! Doesn't melt that fast because it's so creamy! Amy's Ice Cream HQ is in Austin! So why not be at the Austin Airport! Found a little history about them: "Known colloquially as Amy's, Amy's Ice Creams was started by Amy Simmons in 1984. While in Boston, as a premedical major at Tufts University, Amy worked for Steve's Ice Cream. After Steve's Ice Cream was purchased by a larger corporation, Amy decided to go into business for herself. Amy and her business partner Scott Shaw eventually decided to open their ice cream shop in Austin. They wrote a check for the lease of their first store on Guadalupe Street in Austin.[5] Amy has since opened fourteen more locations, with the majority of them in Austin, one in Houston, and one in San Antonio. The Houston location was formerly at The Rice Hotel. In 2009, owner Amy Simmons stated that she does not intend to rapidly expand the chain. In 2017, the company reported a $9 million revenue." Definitely amazing gourmet ice cream. Went to Austin Airport twice after visiting NOLA. Each time, I got a treat with my boys.

Yelp
I've never gotten airport ice cream before but the reviews for Amy's Ice Cream convinced me. As reviewers before me have said, Amy's Ice Cream provides outstanding food and service (at TX airport prices, which to be fair are still cheaper than LA prices ). It's located across from gate 21, near a fried chicken and a pizza place. I sampled the Mexican vanilla, coffee, sweet cream, and Fireball (yes like the alcohol). As Fireball was my first exposure to hard liquor, you may not be surprised to hear that I ended up getting the Mexican vanilla, sweet cream, and coffee, sans Fireball, in the mini size. The worker was super friendly and helpful, and I chatted with her a bit while I deliberated. You can get any number of flavors you'd like for any of the sizes of ice cream. Toppings are extra. I ended up getting the three aforementioned flavors and the worker was kind enough to put them in a larger sized cup so that the flavors could be separated from each other. The ice cream was super dense and creamy. They did NOT skimp on the ingredients, and none were overly syrupy-sweet. The sweet cream flavor was simple but so good. It tastes like homemade whipped cream! The coffee was good and strong, the smoky espresso flavor tasted exactly like how coffee smells, and I found it delicious, even as an infrequent coffee drinker. The Mexican vanilla was the most interesting. I had never had vanilla like this before!! I'm not sure how to describe it, maybe a bit more floral than regular vanilla, with a tangy aftertaste? It tasted lighter (in vibes, not intensity of flavor) compared to, say, a Haagen Daz vanilla. I usually don't get vanilla in ice cream shops, preferring to sample wilder flavors, but this is one case in which simple is the best. Amy's Ice Cream is a must try if you're passing through Austin airport. They don't have as large of a selection as other shops, and I believe flavors rotate, but given the quality of the three flavors I tried, you are in for an amazing experience no matter what!

Yelp
Grabbed this in the Austin airport before my flight. Tried their version on mint chip. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The flavor was super minty.
google avatar

Kate W.

Yelp
Amy's has some of the best ice cream I have ever eaten! I had a layover and spotted their kiosk as I was taking a lap. It was a little warm in the airport, so I figured it was the perfect time for some ice cream. I'm glad that I stopped! I got a single scoop of the sweet cream ice cream and omg it was decadent! It wasn't too sweet and was perfectly rich and creamy. It had a great texture too! A single scoop is a little on the expensive side, but I honestly think it was worth it. Next time I'm in Texas, I'll definitely stop at Amy's again!
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick sweet treat while hanging in AUS airport, mosey on over to Amy's Ice Cream. Fun, local flavors with wholesome ingredients, just what you need before you get on a crowded flight! We got Popcorn, Zilker's Mint Chip, Rusted Shut (coffee ice cream with Kahlua), and of course Mexican Vanilla, their signature flavor. Delicious! The thing I like about Amy's is their ice cream doesn't overpower you - the flavors aren't too sweet and are sometimes subtle, nice and easy. Definitely worth a stop before you board your flight!
google avatar

Pri R.

Yelp
Airport ice cream, you'd think this wouldn't be as good given it's in an airport, but let me tell you Amy's hits the spot. Amy's is a local spot throughout Austin, this one just happened to be in the airport. Got the triple mex and coffee with crushed-in pieces of heath on it. I normally don't go for the more basic flavors such as a vanilla oriented one, but the triple mex is the most fire vanilla ice cream I've EVER had. It's so strong in flavor and really creamy. Tastes so good with the heath pieces. The staff was helpful in providing recommendations. This ice cream is pricey, but so glad I tried. They have vegan flavors and a bunch of other options available.
google avatar

Marcella N.

Yelp
Maybe I'm biased, but you can never go wrong with ice cream when you're in the Midwest. Amy's ice cream did not disappoint me. I walked by three times, debating if I should order something or not. Their cute signage and names of their ice cream specials caught my eye. Eventually, I gave in and ordered 'The Child' from the popular Disney series. It was Oreo ice cream, Andes mints, waffle cone, and hot fudge. It was amazing. Their workers are also friendly and fun. I saw one guy scoping ice cream, and he would toss the scoops up in the air and catch them with the cup. The woman who helped me was really nice and had a positive attitude. If you're not in the mood for ice cream, they have smoothie and drinks as well.
google avatar

Jessie G.

Yelp
Yummy! Fatty, creamy ice cream. Not watery like fro-yo. Dark Chocolate is rich. Pairs nicely with sweet cream.

Marilyn F.

Yelp
Layover at Austin airport. Decided to give Amy's a try. Ordered the sweet cream with snickers. It's was good but not exceptional. I felt it was a bit bland compared to marble slab and others. Service was good just what you would expect in Austin
google avatar

Zack G.

Yelp
I had about 20 minutes before my flight was boarding and I was deciding between a real lunch of a treat. Ice cream beats burgers right before a flight! Seeing I was indecisive, the server responded without hesitation that Coffee was his favorite after I asked for recommendations. Oddly enough, we made some small talk and realized we had a mutual friend with a unique name - Charles P. Thompson. I took the server's recommendation and got Coffee ice cream with Mexican Vanilla mixed in. I found an empty area of the gate where I could eat in peace with my mask off. A nice tasty treat before my flight!
google avatar

Kathryn L.

Yelp
Service was very good and ice cream was excellent! just hit the spot waiting in the airport in Austin. I know where Amy is now I'll probably going there quite often.
google avatar

Yelp
Great local place, has a location in the airport. Perfect way to layover and enjoy a strawberry shake.
google avatar

Jamie C.

Yelp
YUM! I had the coffee and vegan Vanilla- so delish and great send-off @ the airport from Austin. Hope to visit the one in the city sometime! :)
google avatar

Shaji K.

Yelp
Haven't seen too many ice cream shops at an airport, so figured to give this place a shot. Basic setup of several flavors displayed in tubs and some cone options. No one in line so was able to order immediately (opted not to try any first). Settled on the two-scoop small option with a crushed topping option ($7ish). The two flavors were Mexican Vanilla and Sweet Cream, with a Nutter Butter topping. Overall the flavors were kinda dull, possibly because it's been sitting out for a while. The crushed cookies helped a bit in regards to texture. Was hoping there would have been more chocolate options but mostly on the toppings side. For airport food it's not bad, though was expecting better for the price.

Yelp
tl;dr don't be deterred by the airport location -- the top-notch ice cream here is sure to start your trip on the right note Amy's Ice Cream is a statewide chain serving up premium scoops. This quintessential creamery dominates Austin's food scene for best desserts. My recent flight out of Austin was delayed, so I had the perfect opportunity to sample one final Austin delicacy. While I remain skeptical of any airport eatery, ice cream understandably requires far less effort to maintain a high standard of execution and flavor, so I decided to give Amy's a whirl. The queue was minimal, and I quickly was able to order. I opted for a Large with half Coffee and half Mexican Vanilla (Amy's best-seller), sans any toppings. Despite the simple-sounding names, the flavors were surprisingly complex. The coffee, made from El Marino Espresso beans, had the smokiness of a premium espresso beverage. Meanwhile, the Mexican vanilla, born from a cross between Madagascar vanilla bean and Mexican orchid, boasted a deeper and richer than standard vanillas. While the flavors were solid, my biggest gripe was the price -- the $7 "Large" was anything but. I cringe thinking of the ripoff that is the "Tiny" size. Nonetheless, the prices at this outpost are comparable to the other locations throughout Austin. And as far as airport eats go, Amy's is a clear step above the competition.
google avatar

Pauline P.

Yelp
"What's your most popular flavor?" "Mexican Vanilla... y'know if you like what everyone else likes." First timer at Amy's Ice Creams and seeing as how my ride to pick me up from the airport was 20 minutes out, I figured it was as good of a time as any to try out the infamous Amy's. Turns out, I am quite ordinary and I like what everyone else likes. Mexican Vanilla is a winner. The denseness and creaminess of the ice cream is pretty perfect and the texture was so so smooth.
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
Why did I choose to get ice cream at 10:30AM? Well, because I had Amy's a few days before and it was really good, so what was I supposed to do, not eat at this airport location for Amy's? No, I had to. This little shop in the middle of the airport had no line and I was in and out in under a minute. I ended up getting a small cookies and cream and it was absolutely delightful. This small chain has such good ice cream that it's a shame that I can't come here more often, a true shame. Overall, Amy's Ice Cream is wonderful and if you are lucky enough to have enough time to kill at the airport, do yourself a favour and get some ice cream from this place, you absolutely will not regret it!
google avatar

Joanna C.

Yelp
Quality ice cream!!! In an airport!!! Yum!!! While a Wendy's frosty is always a solid choice (though they seem to be more expensive at airports), Amy's Ice Cream offers delicious scoops! Had the cookies and cream, which was the perfect pre-flight treat. Line can be a bit long, but it moves quickly! So if you need an injection of sugar right before a plane nap, Amy's is the place to go.

Jstaff S.

Yelp
Customer service was below average. Price was pretty ridiculous. Ice cream was good but toppings were barely mixed in and were also below average. Save yourself the trouble and money, and just get ice cream if you go here.
google avatar

Spencer W.

Yelp
I thought it was delicious but maybe I'm just tired from TSA and exhausted from my trip. Like cold stone they mix the candy with the ice cream. On the creamy side
google avatar

Doc L.

Yelp
Please consider this review within the context that this location is in an airport. I was desperate for something cool and sweet when I came across this place! The staff were friendly, helpful and patient with the customers I observed as well as myself. The location was clean and well kept. I had a coffee ice cream shake with whipped cream and it was delicious. It was nice and thick as it should be and it was of above average quality!! I was very satisfied with this $10.00 shake.... I'm glad I stopped by....
google avatar

Shannah H.

Yelp
Amy's really does have some of the best ice cream around. It's the only way you can explain how Fluffer Nutter ice cream tastes EXACTLY like a fluffer nutter bar. I mean, exactly. And it's not like there are bits of fluffer nutter in the ice cream - it's smooth as can be. They make it easy in the airport. You can grab and go out of the freezer case, or order scoops in flavors of your choice. There was a line the whole time I was there, waiting on a weather delayed flight. That's because people know where the good stuff can be found.
google avatar

Caprice F.

Yelp
I love that there's an Amy's in the airport! How cool is that?! I ordered mint ice cream with M&M mix-in and they weren't doing mix-ins possibly due to Covid. I wish that the mix-ins were being done but they were instead added on top. Still, this was an awesome treat to have while at the gate waiting to depart.
google avatar

Tim A.

Yelp
Not cheap, but it's very good! Tried Amy's because a friend said it is a "must do" while in Texas. He was right : ) I had the sweet cream with strawberries and heath bar mixed in (my go to topping) and I wasn't disappointed. You won't be either.

Wil K.

Yelp
Friendly service and the ice cream rich and delicious!! Got Oreo and dark chocolate mix and both were so good. Got to taste test prior to ordering. Lots of toppings available but even plain was delicious.
google avatar

Darlene Y.

Yelp
I was sold watching one of the guys who works at Amy's flipping the scoop into the cup to serve. ^^ I had the DARK CHOCOLATE ice cream with the WAFFLE CONE on the side. Service was really good, and the staff was super friendly. Made my snack before my flight that much better. ENJOY!
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
OMG soo good!! Rusty was awesome and let us try a few different flavors. Everything was delicious! I ended up getting the butter popcorn ice cream with the praline pecan. I would come back to Austin just for Amy's.
google avatar

Taylor Y.

Yelp
Last minute rec from a friend who loves ice cream, tried the Mexican vanilla which was amazing. Super creamy and delicious. I didn't opt for any mix ins but it seems to be similar to the Cold Stone Creamery format.
google avatar

Yelp
Thought I would never abandon my Belgian Chocolate Shake then here comes along The Kohana Coffee cold brew Rocket Shake, Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream, hot chocolate fudge and that blast of caffeine blasted the Belgian Chocolate Shake off the charts and removed it from its #1 preferred slot
