Amy's Place Review - India Point - Providence - The Infatuation

"Amy’s is within walking (or biking) distance from downtown, and it’s worth the scenic jaunt over the pedestrian bridge to get a breakfast sandwich and a smoothie or coffee to fuel your day. In our search for the best breakfast sandwich in the state, Amy’s is a top contender with the Hash it Out: it’s got egg, cheddar, a crispy hash brown, spicy aioli, and most importantly, it’s got a sweet, Portuguese bolo bun holding it all together. Clutch a dirty chai in your other hand as you devour it, and we promise you you’ll have a great day. Just know the line gets long, so you might want to order ahead." - Grace Kelly

The lentils, home fries, broccoli, & toast meal was delicious & satisfying. Everything was perfectly flavored & cooked. Can't wait to go back to try another lentil dish!

Met up here with a friend, had the house coffee black and the bacon/American cheese omelette with wheat bread. Absolutely wonderful vibe inside, the music matching the atmosphere wonderfully, and I look forward to returning with more books on hand. There is zero doubt in my mind that this will become a regular stop on my walks in this area.

I didn't get any food we came in from out of town for a show at their venue. And the staff was great. Thank you. Will be going back 100 percent

Great vibes and friendly staff. Whipped me up some awesome vegan pancakes :) I enjoyed the coffee too.

Google
The food was really good and the people working there were very friendly. They had a lot of vegan/vegetarian options, I didn't even know what to choose. The atmosphere was nice too, a quaint old fashioned diner with random hipster vibes. The pictures attached are the Basic Veggie burger (side of chips) and a small Mac and cheese (side of veggies). I'd recommend them both! My only complaints are that the hot chocolate was super watered down and it was a bit pricey. "Chicken" wing appetizers were $12 when there were like 5 wings. It cost more than the entire veggie burger I got (which was 8.50 I believe). Other than that though, it was a good experience. I'll definitely be coming back!

This truly is a special place in Buffalo! Great energy and vibes. Food was delicious, coffee is great and the staff are super cool and chill.

Google
Great eating for vegans(unique lentil and seitan options) and non vegans(just guessing cuz I’m a vegan!). Also offering cafe coffee and tea options. Comfortable neighborhood coffee house vibe. Near linear walking trail

Google
A nostalgic place for most of the people who used to live near University at Buffalo South Campus. And even after 10 year, the quality of the food still remains the same. It is still one of the best vegetarian places to eat in Buffalo.

Yelp
Place had potential to be really cool with a artistic vibe, but the venue or business owners were some of the rudest owners I have ever came across, as a place that has people come in to play music it was shocking having the venue owners say to our face that having artist come and travel to play their space does not support them at all. They repeatedly then bashed us for not buying drinks from there after driving 3 hours to get there. Also misgendered my friend multiple times So much for being accepting space This space thrives off capitalistic views with a fake cover of being an "Accepting Space" What a joke !

Yelp
I would say this is just ok vegan food. I'm grateful they were open late, I ordered it to my hotel after a very long work day. I got a vegan souvlaki, it was just OK. Vegetables were rotten. The chicken itself was ok. For the price of delivery, wasn't worth it.

Yelp
I didn't have a meal at Amy's but I attended an art event. The overflow room was a great venue as a gallery setting. I think they might use the space for music shows as well. There are tables on the sidewalk for when the gallery crowd spills out of the room. Is a nice spot for hanging out.

Yelp
It's a hidden gem for sure, though not quite meant for large groups. It was perfect for my friend and I though and I loved having a whole menu of vegan/vegetarian options to choose from. The server was friendly and helpful with suggestions too. Absolutely no complaints!

Yelp
Hours are now 9am - 3pm and 5pm - 9pm. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Only 9am - 3pm on Sundays. If you've never been to Amy's, this place is a Buffalo institution and trailblazer for vegan and vegetarian options. Diner food with a Lebanese twist, this place will make you a lover of lentils and blow your mind with awesome sandwiches and wraps. They make their own seitan in house and if you're looking to try vegan versions of Buffalo classics like wings and beef on weck, this is the place! If you just want something awesome and new to try, get the lentilberry wrap or the Biff Sandwich. Highly recommend that veggie wet shoes as well - curly fries smothered seasoned lentils, peppers, onions, and tomatoes with a cheese option as well. If you haven't been in awhile, here is what is new since they re-opened from their pandemic hiatus: The entire menu is smaller and is 100% vegetarian now and nearly everything can be made vegan. Cheese has been left off a lot of items and is $2.50 to add cow cheese or vegan cheese. There are three kinds of vegan cheese. There are also specials that may include things you remember from the old Amy's menu items you will recognize and others are things you never thought you'd see at Amy's, like veggie tacos. The menu now includes a commercially produced chik'n nugget as a protein option along with their house seitan and tofu. The Barb Special is back and is one of the only non-vegan items on the menu. The sweet tea is still there and still bottomless, though last time they didn't leave the pitcher which presumably is pandemic related. Amy's has also EXPANDED and there is another dining room next door where the head shop used to be. The seating is very spaced out now, no back to back booths like the old days. Last time we went was about 2:30pm on a weekend and we have the place to ourselves. There's also at least three tables outside. They also accept credit cards and have a whole point of service software system. Truly we have entered a new era. As someone who has been going to Amy's for over 20 years, had eaten over 100 different items off their larger menu, and who, during that time, became a vegetarian and then vegan, I love the evolution of Amy's. The prices have increased but are comparable with similar food in other cities. Amy's is switching to a worker-owned model, which is another huge plus.

Yelp
So since it's re-opening I've received several text messages recommending that I try Amy's Place. Apparently they have been closed for a while due to the pandemic. Since they've reopened they are only taking take out orders. The food was pretty good. I ordered a gyro, french fries, and a giant vegan cookie. I did not enjoy the cookie it was very hard. In fact I might need some dental work after eating it lol. No but seriously I was not a fan. However, the gyro and fries were great! It's a huge serving size. I wasn't too thrilled with my experience from a customer service stand point. I get it that they're pretty busy but it sucks when you try a place for the first time and you get an unwelcoming response it kinda sucks. Also I know that this is a nice hole in the whole spot so you should tailor your expectations but the place needs a bit of sprucing up. Besides that it was pretty good. Affordable. Seating outside and lots of good food options.

Yelp
I hate to give not-great reviews to small businesses (I normally just won't review a place if I don't like it) but I feel like I should address Amy's Place. The food itself was pretty good. The French toast, the lentils with broccoli, the "wings" (which were really just spicy meatballs) and the beef on weck were all tasty But the place seemed FILTHY. A dirty, wet dishtowel was shoved under a leg of our table to stop it from wobbling. The silverware needed to be cleaned again. The condiments on the table were so sticky that I had to go wash my hands after trying to use the squirt bottle of hot sauce. And it just seemed very dim and dirty in there. Food, not bad, but there's no way I'd ever return.

Yelp
Amazing little hole in the wall kind of restaurant the kind you think should I walk in or not but when you do you are delightfully surprised at how amazing their food is they have both normal food vegan vegetarian food and we enjoyed it so much we came back a few times while we were on vacation my daughter and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously and the staff is very kind and helpful,I wish I would've took pictures but didn't even think about it because the food was so good on mine was distracted on that

Yelp
This caterpillar was cooked in my lentil burrito on 4/9/22. I tried to get in touch with the restaurant on their website and on Facebook. Nobody has responded. Hope no one one else gets a caterpillar in their food!

Yelp
Amy's used to be one of my favorite spots, but ever since they reopened, the food quality has severely diminished. I have no qualms with their new menu, which is entirely vegan and vegetarian, but I do have issues with the way their food is prepared and served now. We tried a few take out orders before dining in and had okay experiences. I chalked the lower quality take out meals as reopening hiccups, thinking they were taking time to get back in full swing. They brought back breakfast and full hours again, and decided to eat-in for our anniversary breakfast. I ordered my breakfast go-to, the 1-1-1; I chose the vegan LA Cinnamon bread French toast, tofu scramble and a tofu sizzle strip. My fiancé ordered the vegan pancakes and a side tofu sizzle strips for himself. The pancakes were bland and flat, and we didnt even finish them which is unusual for us at Amy's. They used to be so fluffy and delicious, you didn't need to drench them in syrup for flavor. When my order arrived, it was literally half empty. It was so weird, they gave barely one portion of each and made sure they were not touching each other on the same plate. It had ~1/2 cup tofu scramble, one piece of regular French toast (not the LA cinnamon bread I ordered), and one sizzle strip (which is the only expected single serving I knew was correct). In the past, the 1-1-1 plate was full even with one serving of each item; this plate was so clearly empty despite the price increasing by $3. It was immensely disappointing to receive half the usual portions I've come to expect from Amy's, and that the flavor again was lackluster. Although we can still order some of our Amy's Place originals and favorites (biff, Margie's meal, seitan wings, tofu sizzle strips), the flavor, portion sizes and overall quality is definitely off. I hope they get back on track fully and return to the Amy's quality and experience we've been missing.

Yelp
Husband and I tried Amy's place for breakfast yesterday. It's a vegetarian restaurant that also has vegan options. Or is it a vegan restaurant that has vegetarian options? At any rate, we really liked it. They have booths lining the walls, two table and chair setups down the middle of the room and a counter with stools along the right. My husband enjoyed a mushroom omelet with vegan cheddar. I chose the Greek omelette. All the flavor explosions you want and expect in that lineup! The feta cheese was really fresh. Servers were very friendly and we would go back again. Nice to try a more hometown place rather than a commercialized/chain one.

Yelp
My husband and I have found memories of the lentil sandwich from Amy's place from decades ago. We were in the area today so we got a lentil sandwich and a lentil berry sandwich as take out for lunch. The sandwiches are quite large. I could not finish mine but my husband was able to finish his sandwich and what I did not finish of my sandwich. They were delicious.

Yelp
Food is always, hot and fresh, cooked to order, college student vibe, so everyone is into their own thing, may get a group in, but it's just the neighborhood hang out, like Cheers, everybody knows your name. French Toast LP

Yelp
Came back to Amy's Place for the first time since I graduated from UB. This was always our go-to for cheap and yummy eats and I was glad to stop back. The menu has a lot of vegan and vegetarian options and the staff very accommodating to those dietary needs! Breakfast is a staple of Amy's place but they do have other entrees too. Make note they are cash only. The service is also very friendly! I got a cup of coffee, and the shawarma with eggs, home fries and flatbread. The shawarma meat was a little tough for my taste but otherwise everything was delicious with big portions for only $9.99. Amy's place is a classic restaurant for great eats by South Campus with friendly service that keeps me coming back.

Yelp
Sunday brunch with the fam fam. I usually get One of the vegan brekkie plate or their infamous lentil berry wrap sans cheese but I felt like trying something new for Mother's Day. Sooo my hangry self glanced over the crew's creation and there's only two vegan choices. I asked for my server's recommendation and settled on Cait's plate: a delicious concoction of lentils, mushrooms, spinach in a thin pita flatbread. You guys!!! It was awesome!!! It's basically the Lentil Berry Wrap's baby minus the hot sauce - you won't fill overstuffed. Plus it has mushrooms and spinach if you're really into veggies! Definitely my new go to now over the lentil berry wrap!

Yelp
Being a vegetarian, I'm not used to options let alone a LOT of options. The menu of Amy's place was overwhelming to me as I looked down upon item after item that I could order. I finally decided to order two dishes and share them with my friend who ordered another two. I got veggie chili and a side order of Seitan while my friend got a falafel sandwich with veggie wet shoes. The chili was decent with subtly flavored broth with vegetables and my friend said it did taste like the real chili. Falafel sandwich had lettuce, tomatoes and spinach in addition to falafels and tasted fine. Veggie wet shoes are basically curly fries with lentils and cheese added on top. They were unfortunately a bit of a disappointment to me as they were way too bland for my taste. However, the winner for me was the seitan wings which were delicious and apparently a very good imitation of real meat. Although they have good intentions and offer so many options to vegetarians and vegans, I found that it is just not my taste and so would probably not be going back anytime soon. But that said, if you prefer mildly flavored food, this might be the place to go for you, especially if you are vegetarian/vegan.

Yelp
I love Amy's, have always loved Amy's, and still love Amy's after the reopening. Yes, the menu is smaller, and yes, it's more expensive, but the food is still delicious. Like a lot of other reviewers, I was charmed by this place's greasy, brusque, cash-only past, but I'm excited for its future. I'll miss the early bird breakfast special, but I'm happy to support one of my favorite restaurants in the world through one of the most difficult economic periods in American history, and am even happier that I can now do it without ATM fees. As far as the food goes, I have only had positive experiences with the new menu. I've only ever ordered vegan and vegetarian food here which may bias my expectations, but my favorites (lentil breakfast, vegan mac and cheese, Biff sandwich, fajita fries, lentil-berry sandwich) are the same as they ever were and there are some fun new adds like a vegetarian stinger wrap that carry all of the Amy's comfort. I'm also thrilled for the employees that are getting a stake in this iconic business. I hope that the people who have been disappointed by the reopening give the staff and the new menu another chance; try something different, give vegan food a go, and discover new favorites.

Yelp
HOW DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO GET TO AMY'S!!?? We are a family of vegetarians, with one vegan, so you'd think we would live here, ha!! Well, one reason, parking often dictates where we go, as I'm a 'burbs girl who doesn't like to battle with street parking. Amy's is street parking, so be aware you may have to do some circling for a spot. But at Amy's, it's totally worth it!! My first visit was during a recent lunch outing with my workmates. Amy's is a snug, adorable, authentic vintage-vibes diner, but luckily we hit it at a good time to get a booth without wait. The menu is 100% vegetarian, and almost anything can be prepared vegan, as well. All of the egg dishes can be made with chicken eggs, or with tofu eggs. All of the cheeses can use vegetarian dairy cheese or dairy alternative cheese. All of the meats are meat-free meat alternatives. I am keto-vegetarian, and one shortcoming for me is no keto-friendly toast, but this is not something I expect to see often dining out. (Would be nice though, just keep a loaf of keto bread in the freezer to toast as needed. :-) ) But the potato hash browns can be upgraded to a side salad, so that worked for keto-me. I had a mushroom and cheese omelet with chicken eggs and dairy cheese, plus the side salad upgrade. My omelet was sizable, fluffy, and delicious. The eggs were thin, and cooked and folded just right! My one work friend also had an omelet and enjoyed it very much. My other work friend went with the diner's marquee dish, the lentil berry wrap. I don't eat beans or wraps, but I fantasy-ate the crap out of her lunch, HA! This lentil berry wrap was MASSIVE and looked totally delectable! She is a longtime Amy's fan, coming here since college, so knew to immediately cut it in half to bring half home, as it is a huge portion, definitely shareable. Our server was friendly and accommodating and overall we had a really nice lunch. I can't wait to come back to Amy's with my teens, a vegan and a vegetarian, and my fellow keto-'tarian husband to eat our way through the omelet and scramble options, and to continue to enjoy this cute-as-a-button diner to the max!! :-D

Yelp
Unfortunately I have to echo some of the other most recent comments. Since reopening the quality has gone down and is very inconsistent. We went in person last week for the first time since the reopening and the 90% vegan menu was so exciting! The lentils and broccoli were delicious, and the BBQ chicken tenders were to die for. It was so great we decided to order for pickup for dinner today. We got there on time for pickup but the order didn't come out until 20 minutes later, missing an entire side order. The vegan wings are inedible; I couldn't even bite through one, it was so chewy. And the attached photo is the "side of mushrooms and broccoli". For an ant, I guess? Amy's Place, I love visiting and getting vegan goodies, but yikes!

Yelp
Wow! Hole in the wall place you can't judge by it's cover! Amazing vegan food! Couldn't finish! Had 1/3 of my food left! Horseradish with fake beef sandwich was amazing! The boneless vegan Bites were amazing! Highly recommend! I need to bring my wife here for a road trip from Cleveland! I'll be back!

Yelp
If your looking for for a quick run or the mill breakfast food in a quaint environment than this is the place. That's if you cans find parking and bring cash with. Although the food is good it's not great or anything exceptionally unique you couldn't get anywhere else. Also the parking situation is less than abundant. Oh yeah, make sure you bring cash because they don't take plastic.

Yelp
Never disappoints! I've been going to Amy's for almost 25 years now and it's always so fantastic. Brought my daughter in today for delicious vegan pancakes since so few places make them without dairy. The cooks were so sweet to make them extra special for her! Thanks for making our morning!

Yelp
Amazing vegan pancakes Friendly service Delicious tofu scramble & lentil hash is so good

Yelp
I've been to Amy's a lot, this is my first time back since they've recently reopened. I ordered a Biff (my favorite sandwich on the menu) and a side of fajita fries. Everything was even better than I remember and I'm so thrilled they are back! The only change to the Biff is that the seitan is now sliced instead of cubed, which I think is a good change. If you've never had the Biff before, or you're skeptical because you don't know what seitan is, trust this random stranger and give it a shot! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
So glad that Amy's is back!! This place has been a favorite of mine for many years and I consider it a Buffalo staple. Amys is currently open for take-out only and have a shorter menu than before, but we were welcome to sit and eat at one of the few tables. We split veggie wet shoes, I had vegan mac and hubby had the biff sandwich. Everything was very good, veggie wet shoes really hit the spot. My husband was pleased with the sandwich and I took a piece of bbq seitan to eat with my mac and cheese and that was a very good decision. Cant wait for them to open up completely, I hope they bring the smotheredchicken sammy back!!
google avatar

Nima M.

Yelp
I did not go there for breakfast which seems to be their thing. I went there fo a late lunch with my friend and we had the Open chicken souvlaki and philly steak sandwich. Although the chicken itself was grilled to percection and tasted great, the rest was not quite appetizing. Oh! Remember, cash only!!

Yelp
My only regret about Amy's Place is that I did not know about it sooner. I generally avoid greasy spoons, as factory-farmed eggs are an ethical and environmental abomination, and so I assumed there would be little for me here. Turns out, like 60% of the menu is vegan and the vegan scramble, an item I had tried and not much likes other places, is the bomb. The whole meals that we ordered (vegan french toast, lentil and potato plate with scramble added) were also the bomb, as is the coffee and tea selection and the non-dairy milk options and basically everything. Breakfast food is one of those things that's hard to screw up too badly but also hard to excel at, and I can honestly say this food was excellent in the root meaning of the word. And then I got the bill: it was like $23 for two of us to eat hearty portions of delicious food in a cool, arty space. I'd say that I would be back, except it's more like I'm scheming to work eating there into my weekly routine despite living on the other side of town. Color me impressed, Amy's Place. I'm sorry I waited so long to check you out. Misc: limited parking behind building, cash only. Visa drives prices up for everyone, so suck it up and go to an ATM.

Yelp
The food was amazing especially the lentils with broccoli I've been eyeing the menu for a little bit & I had to come try their food. I also ate home Fries, a western omelet loaded with vegetables so yummy I highly recommended it, i also had toast, and pita bread that I truly enjoyed. Such a cozy restaurant and the waiters where very nice and gave me suggestions. I can't wait to go back to eat here.

Yelp
Amy's and I are like two people who would make a good couple in theory (I'm a vegetarian; she's very vegetarian-friendly; I work in her neighborhood so seeing each other would be easy), but for some reason or another, the chemistry isn't quite there. Maybe *the* dish is lurking on Amy's menu, and I just haven't found it yet. The famous lentil-berry sandwich was too dry for me. The veggie burger was floppy and fell apart easily, though at least it wasn't a Boca or Morningstar patty that you could find in the grocery freezer aisle. While I didn't try it for myself, I was disappointed to see a bowl of vegan mac being microwaved behind the counter, and before it was brought to another table. My favorite dish so far is the reuben, though the presentation seemed a bit sloppy. Instead of cutting my sandwich for me, they just stuck a knife in the middle. There was also just a single pickle slice on my plate, which just felt kind of stingy. But the seitan was good, sliced nice and thin, and not overly salty. As someone who has a pretty big appetite, I thought I'd never say this, but for the sandwiches that come in half and full sizes, like the lentil-berry, just get the half. It's enough. This was part of my exchange with my waitress during my first visit to Amy's. Me: Could I have the full-size lentil-berry sandwich? Waitress: Sure, do you want half of it boxed up? Me: Um, no, I'll just have the whole thing. Waitress: The full is really big. You wouldn't be able to finish it, unless you guys [referring to my husband] are sharing. I downsized to the half even though I was skeptical, since I wasn't going to have access to a fridge soon after lunch. And, what do you know, she was right. I didn't even clean my plate with the half size. Me, later: I'm glad I didn't get the full. Waitress: Yeah, I knew you wouldn't be able to finish it. Me, feeling challenged but too full to argue: ... Even though my pride's been wounded, and even though I haven't found *my* dish yet, I'm sure I'll find myself at Amy's again.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. It's a pretty small diner, so I wouldn't recommend coming in with a large party of people, but it had a great homey feel. I went here with a few friends and we all tried something different, some chose vegan options, some did not. I decided to try their western breakfast sandwich (with no tomatoes). It was honestly probably one of the best I've ever had. Big chunks of ham, green pepper, and onion. Just enough American cheese, and it came on a seeded Costanzo's roll. Pure perfection. I also had a cup of coffee and it was very good. I also appreciate that the only sweetener (besides sugar) they keep on their tables is stevia. My friend got the lentils with her breakfast and let me try them and those were very tasty as well. On my way out I saw someone that had ordered the pancakes and those looked AMAZING. I'll definitely have to try those next time. Maybe just one along side my delicious western sandwich. Great job Amy's!

Yelp
Been going to Amy's for decades. Service and quality of food has gone down. Homefries used to be legendary with larger and crisper hunks accompanied by onions and peppers. Coffee was tasty but lukewarm. Wait staff seemed to have better things to do than keep us happy and informed about status of order which took long time. Had to request bill of person on their phone. Owner or manager better get in quick to provide support and guidance!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome service, great food! GO HERE!! perfect ambience and music playing, tofu scramble and toast was the best I've had. Seasoned so well I didn't need to add anything

Yelp
Was really excited to check this place out because it has a ton of vegan options. I brought a meat-eating friend with me. There's no parking lot, but there is plenty of parking around the area. Also, CASH ONLY! And when you're done eating, the server doesn't bring the bill to the table. You have to go up to the register to cash out. The vegan wings were ok. They were definitely more like meatballs than chicken, both in taste and texture. The vegan breakfast was dry and bland. I didn't enjoy it. I also had an iced coffee that was also just ok. Overall, ok place. I'll probably go back and try other things because the food has potential!

Yelp
Would eat again. In fact, I did 3 times in 3 days while visiting Buffalo. It's a funky little Neighborhood diner that happens to have great vegan selections. I love all day breakfast and Amy's Place delivers on that. I heartily enjoyed: Pancakes- huge fluffy and vegan with a slather of vegan butter and cheap syrup. Crispy on the edges and yummy. French toast- I had both vegan choices and preferred the LA cinnamon swirl best, though they both were good. The vegan 1-1-1 lets you pick French toast or pancake and tofu scramble or seitan and their house specialty lentils which were delicious and were a nice healthy addition to breakfast. My daughter enjoyed her tofu BLT we found their seitan to be super succulent and want the recipe. Good job Amy's Place

Yelp
At 17 years of age, I was somewhat of a fair-weather vegetarian, taking breaks here and there when convenient. It was at that time that I was introduced to the Buffalonian classic, the beef on weck, while touring SUNY Buffalo. I absolutely loved it and it made me feel a little closer to my family's roots. While I've been able to find fairly decent mock Buffalo wings all around the country, I've never heard of beef on weck outside of the western New York region, nonetheless a vegetarian version. So as soon as we'd booked our flights for our family vacation, I started searching online for my holy grail: the no-beef beef on weck. Our trip was only two and a half days, mostly filled with the Erie County fair and a family reunion. Our flight back to Kansas City left at 10:30 on Monday morning, and by Sunday evening, I had still not had my BoW. Enter Amy's Place. We left the hotel at 6:45am to make it for the 7:00 opening time, arriving just a few minutes late. We sat ourselves and were greeted by our waitress, who knew all the regulars by name and could be overheard asking them about their weekends and families. I placed my order around 7:10 and at 7:20 I was reunited with the vegetarian version of an old friend. By 7:25, the seitan and kimmelweck sandwich was gone, along with the sides of sauerkraut, cucumbers, pickles, and crinkle potato chips. Amy's has mastered an incredible feat. Mind you, any meat-lover will always opt for the original, but for little ole vegetarian me, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to start my day (though I am well aware that beef on weck is not a breakfast item - bless Amy's for serving it early anyway). If you're in Buffalo and looking for some fantastic local eats, please visit this longstanding institution. Next time I'm back, I'll be sure to try the wings.

Yelp
When in Buffalo you must get Buffalo wings, right? But what if you're Vegan/Vegetarian? This place has you covered. Complete with vegan blue cheese! The wings were delicious and very satisfying. The staff is super chill and give great service. They're always running around! They have non vegan options too. Cash only and worth the visit. They also do an early bird special, I'm going to come back and check out their breakfast options.

Yelp
My office ordered take out from Amy's Place last week when all restaurants were asked to close due to the pandemic. I really enjoy vegan food and was super impressed with how much they had to offer! I was in between the vegan BLT, and the vegan stinger. I went with the lighter choice considering it was lunch time. The vegan BLT only came to about 7$. However, I was not that impressed by the sandwich. The "meat" was really tasteless which I was shocked about. I thought if anything that would make the sandwich burst with flavor. Despite being underwhelmed by the sandwich, I would absolutely go back to try other menu items !

Yelp
Amy's Place used to be one of my favorite go-to breakfast spots in Buffalo. This was my first time back in about two years since Covid struck. My excitement quickly ended when I walked in the door. The woman working at the door and waiting on our table was extremely unfriendly. She didn't even bother to ask my fiancé and I if we wanted anything to drink besides water. I always order coffee with breakfast but I figured if she didn't ask why spend the money. The menu was different, offering only vegan options and eggs. I was surprised to see no breakfast meat whatsoever (I guess I should have done my research). Since no one in our party is vegan we were unsure how to pronounce seitan. My mom made an attempt at the pronunciation and was immediately corrected and spoken back to in a snide way. As if she was an idiot for not knowing how to pronounce something she has never ordered or seen before. My mom also ordered an egg over easy. After waiting about 30 minutes for our food (with the restaurant being empty) we were told the chef is a vegan and is having trouble cooking the egg. After waiting 10 more minutes he threw the plate with the egg on the counter and said rudely "oh well best I could do." The egg was not cooked properly. The waitress did not even offer an apology for the wait or the undercooked egg. If you cannot offer a a properly cooked egg I suggest removing it from the menu. The food was much smaller in portion and more expensive than it has been under previous ownership. Out of everything that was wrong and disappointing with the experience I would say the way the waitress treated us was the most disappointing. The Amy's I remember had wait-staff that was always extremely friendly, would come around regularly to warm up your coffee, always spoke pleasantly, and would make sure everything went well with your meal and dining experience. I won't be back here again. I would recommend taking your dining experience somewhere else.

Yelp
Amy's Place is a staple for Buffalo. A hole in the wall place, but a staple nonetheless. I've tried many things from their menu over the year but I always come back to the Margie Meal wrap. It is without a doubt my favorite item on the menu. I love that they can make most of their stuff with meat, vegetarian or vegan. I always get the Margie vegan and with tofu. I have no idea if they make their garlic spread in house or buy it but either way it makes the wrap incredible. I know saturdays there can get busy so I called ahead to pick up my order and take it home. I love that they always say it'll only be 20 minutes and they're are always on time with my order, sometime early. Keeps me coming back.

Yelp
Amy's Place is a solid choice for breakfast any day of the week. It's quick, really fairly-priced, and open early. The pancakes and french toast are always tasty, as are the home fries. The shawarma is just okay, don't know if I would recommend that, but I liked everything else I tried here. They have good vegetarian/vegan options as well.

Yelp
Service: I came with 2 friends on a Saturday for a late dinner. It was seat yourself. Once seated, our server quickly came over for drink orders and to answer questions. He was super helpful and accommodating. Food: the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered seitan wings and the seitan was nicely seasoned so it didn't have that gross doughy flavor. The wings were fried and dressed with BBQ sauce and arrived with a side of their vegan bleu cheese which was outrageous. And DRUM ROLL PLEASE, before becoming vegan I would eat Reuben's at least once a week and haven't had one in over a year. You can imagine my delight at seeing this on the menu. Their vegan Reuben comes with sauerkraut and slices of seitan with vegan thousand island on rye. Typically, Reuben's comes with Swiss but I didn't miss it at all on their version. The one area of improvement would be the fries...we all had some version of fries with our meal and they needed to be fried longer to get some color and weren't seasoned when we arrived. Otherwise, Amy's Place was exactly what we needed and I will definitely be going again! Ambience: it was pretty cold inside when we first sat, but after mentioning it to our server he quickly turned the heat on. The interior reminds me of a hots place with shabby interior. I wish I was in Buffalo more often because this is an awesome place for vegans and their non-vegan counterparts to satisfy their hunger. If you're in the area, go!

Yelp
We used to go here all the time before pandemic. It was always quirky, maybe a little dirty - whatever - that was part of the experience of getting fast and cheap and good food. However, time has not been kind to this poor former staple of Buffalo's university heights.. The amount of dirt hanging from the ceiling is insane. The service, god bless them, couldn't have been worse. When you're serving, the same coffee refill over and over again, only a hung over / high person wouldn't realize, "oh wait? they're waiting for 45 minutes, thats 4 cups of coffee.." meanwhile, doordash uber eats and grubhub orders are going out the door no problem. At one point, a musician showed up and got waited on by mistake, plot twist he was there because he left his gear from last week's show.. Guys what the heck is going on? It's like that episode of Kitchen Nightmares where Gordon Ramsey has to explain to the dinner - they arent a music venue. I'll write it right here for the owner to see: Amy's Place is not a music venue. You guys used to serve quality pancakes and quirky cool lentil dish. Cant even imagine what the people I've told in the past 3 years to go here thought of me, if this is what it was like. Will not further the pain, Dont be surprised when the health department shows up and shuts this place down. I'm not a narc, but good lord guys, this is smol brain. I went home, and made eggs + coffee + waffles in sub 10 minutes.. and really waiters gotta check in and ask, they cant just peace out to the counter and have their own associate conversations... Why am I here? just to suffer? PLUS im a big fan of Lo-Fi music,,, but FFS turn the stupid music down... ears ringing from crappy 3 inch bose knock off speakers... Play your music, play whatever you want but just keep it to a level where people can have a conversation still... again why am i here? The description on Yelp that says "under 10$" is a lie too, that hasnt been the case since even before the demic. Rest in peace Amy's place.

Yelp
The original Amy's was my favorite restaurant in Buffalo. I and many of my loved ones have so many great memories of this place when it was under the previous ownership. My partner and I were so excited to go again when it reopened after COVID and were devastated by our experience there. The menu became much smaller, and the up charges on items were shocking and arbitrary. We waited much longer than usual for our food, and the only other table seated at the restaurant was visibly upset as well. My partners pancakes were still raw in the center. When cashing out our server charged us for 4 coffees when we each only had one, and when we pointed it out instead of issuing a refund she angrily took a $5 bill out of the tip jar and handed it to us. The cost of 2 coffees was well over six dollars so we still paid for something we never received. We will never go back and are both deeply saddened at what's happened to this Buffalo staple. Inexperienced and rude wait staff, overpriced and limited menu items, and disappointing service overall. If you're hoping for the Amy's you used to know and love, don't bother. You will be disappointed at best.

Yelp
I love Amy's Place! Great service, INCREDIBLE food. As a vegetarian, it's not every day where I have to look through the menu because I have so many choices. I come here whenever they're open and I'm in the area. Would 100% recommend.

Yelp
If you didn't know this a stellar vegan place, you'd think this is just your typical diner. Mismatching coffee mugs, 90's classic rock, quirky waitresses. The barstools, and the checker-print floors. It's a diner. But what steals the show are the food options. With a lot of mediterranean faire, breakfast all day, a laundry list of burgers and chicken dishes, and plenty of seitan to go around, this place has food for everyone. I ended up with the mini (read: HUGE. Must be opposite day) hummus wrap, and the bbq seitan wings. Wings were fantastic, wrap was okay. This place feels familiar though I know i've never been here. Maybe it's the nostalgia. Maybe it's the music.
