Anantara Koh Phangan is a strong choice if you want privacy, calm, and thoughtful service.
We stayed in a beachfront pool villa and would book it again. Just choose wisely. Pick one in the middle of the property where the terrace gets proper light. Avoid the very last units. They sit closer to public beach access and neighboring resorts, so you may get occasional outside visitors and some noise.
Service truly stands out. Warm. Proactive. Consistent. Khun Seven, our villa host, was pure sunshine and very responsive on WhatsApp. When maintenance work happened on the beach in front of our villa, the team offered us a switch after we raised it. No friction. Very accommodating.
The spa is the highlight. A real sanctuary. Book early. Do not miss the steam room built into the cave. It’s unique and beautifully executed.
Yoga was excellent. Skilled teacher, calm presence, small groups.
The location suits a slower rhythm. The village right behind the resort covers the basics - pharmacy, nails, cafés. Very convenient. If you want beach clubs, bigger restaurant scenes, or a broader yoga selection, plan for transport. It’s 30-40 minutes and relatively expensive each way.
One honest note: the food is good, not great. Perfectly fine for a few nights. Less exciting if you dine there every evening. European dishes feel predictable. Thai options lean heavily toward meat, which limits variety for vegetarians. And no proper running routes, so got to climb some hilly street terrain only.
Overall: strong villas, outstanding service, beautiful spa. A great choice for a relaxed beach stay. Pick the right villa location and you’ll have a very good experience.
