The 8 New Keys in Thailand are Among the Most Beautiful Hotels in the Country

"Accessible only by private speedboat from Ko Samui, this quieter paradise on Thong Nai Pan Noi tucks villas behind coconut palms with plunge pools, garden terraces and ocean-facing decks—some with direct beach access—and balances an elegant yet down-to-earth aesthetic of native wood, vaulted ceilings and deep red accents. Days here unfold with sunrise yoga on the beach, Thai massages in outdoor spa salas, cocktails at the swim-up bar and teppanyaki dinners at Yukinoya; with breathtaking views, personalized service and a rhythm set entirely by nature, it feels cinematic, serene and perfect for retreat and restoration." - The MICHELIN Guide

"Koh Phangan is famous for its full moon festival, but on the opposite side of the island, far from the beach parties, the coastline is quiet and pristine. It’s an idyllic setting for one of the region’s most luxurious resorts. Accessible by private speedboat from nearby Koh Samui, Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas is located on Thong Nai Pan Noi, a secluded white-sand beach that’s considered one of the best in Thailand. Rows of chaise longues shaded by cheerful red umbrellas face a dazzling expanse of calm aquamarine water, and just behind a border of coconut palms, the resort’s thatched-roof two-story buildings are tucked into lush jungle vegetation." - Tablet Hotels

We arrived by the shared speedboat with the Buri Rasa guests - be aware it does not feel like an exclusive experience when you arrive with 21 other people. However the greeting on the beach for the Anantara guest was excellent with our pre selected sparkling wine waiting for us. The rooms are a good size and well appointed. The beds are very comfortable. Sun beds at the pool are hard to get as there are not many and always taken up by families with children. Loads of sun beds on the beach so that’s no problem and the swimming in the sea was fine whilst we were there. Quite a lot of upselling which can be irritating. Breakfast service is not particularly good. We would also expect fresh orange juice as standard. Our villa host SANH was very good and our room attendant Kookai excellent. We requested a 9 am clean everyday and it happened without fail - very good. The local village is close by about 2 minutes walk and given the poor service at breakfast we did not bother eating in for dinner or lunch as prices were high (which you expect in a hotel but these are excessive compared to other hotels we have stayed in - Sala Samui, Choeng Mon, Cape Fahn, Choeng mon, Sarojin, Khao Lak). We really enjoyed our stay but in honesty this hotel is not 5 star - it is not in the same league as Cape Fahn and The Sarojin. The Minor hotels group which Anantara are part of appear to be extremely profit oriented. We appreciate profits are necessary but it is very blatant here and does effect the guest experience. Nevertheless you would be hard pressed to find a better beach in Thailand and I do think the quality of the rooms are good. Plunge pools a bit of a waste time but we knew before we booked they were small, not deep and in a lot of cases cold. We did not choose the hotel for its plunge pools. If you want a private pool to swim in you need to choose a different hotel. We would probably stay at the Anantara Rasananda again as the local village is close and for the swimming in the sea and ease of getting sun beds on the beach. It is a lovely setting. We have travelled extensively in Asia and other parts of the world so our expectations may be higher than some guests. One final plus point we both ordered a Rose sparkling wine for our arrival drink and were very impressed that in fact the welcome bottle in the room was changed to Rose before we were shown to the room - now that is excellent.

Very good experience overall. Two important comments: 1. The hotel’s taxi services are outrageously expensive - about twice the regular prices in Ko Phangan. You would expect that hotel of this class will provide transportation coordination as a service, not as an additional revenue stream. For reference, Kupu Kupu offers free transportation to and from the hotel. Other hotels charge a reasonable price. 2. The gym is small and often very crowded. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

As a local, I live not far from the beach but to be honest, It was an exceptional experience to spend my time with you for a while, in a place where everything seems designed to delight the senses. For my friend and me, Anantara Koh Phangan perfectly embodies what a true luxury resort should be : beautiful nature, serene atmosphere, attentive service, and above all, outstanding cuisine. Let’s talk about it… To start, the Brushettas and the Arancini’s were our favorite. Try them with a nice glass of wine on the refreshing Vitello tomato. If you don’t know, ask to Kewal, the wine Guru about your choice. This man is a master. About the food… I was particularly impressed by the exceptional quality of the ingredients and the perfect cooking of each dish, showcasing real culinary mastery by the new chef who is doing his job with passion and much skills, from the beginning to the end, every plate came with a harmonious balance of flavors, it was just delicious and beautifully presented. What else ? Combined with the elegance of the setting, the kindness of the staff and the natural beauty of the surroundings, it all comes together to make Anantara Koh Phangan a destination that truly deserves its 5 stars. Maybe the only place on Phangan island. A sincere bravo to the entire team for maintaining such a high level of excellence. You are doing a fantastic job. Frederic from Luna Lounge Koh Phangan

I had an incredible experience at this sushi restaurant! 🍣 The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious — easily some of the best sushi I’ve had. The atmosphere was relaxed yet refined, making it the perfect spot for a great meal.||What really made the experience stand out was the amazing service. Everyone was so attentive and friendly, and Jazzy in particular was super nice — warm, welcoming, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish.||Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for top-quality sushi and a great vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back! 👏✨

We stayed 4 nights in July after a week on Koh Samui, in a beachfront villa. We caught the shared speedboat there and back and the arrival at the pier was the beginning of the excellent service. We were checked into our room at the pier, welcome drink ordered and all details checked. The boat ride took about 30 mins and is a great way to arrive.|The beach the Anantara is located on is so beautiful. It is so relaxing and you have your own reserved Sun loungers. Our villa also had a daybed with views of the beach. Most days we just swam and paddle boarded and just relaxed. |The restaurant where you have breakfast (and lunch and dinner if eating at the beach restaurant) is super relaxing. We ate lunch onsite but generally went to one of the many local and great restaurants in the village behind the resort. The village is small but loads of restaurants, massage places, laundromats and tour operators.|The Anantara is a really lovely property in keeping with the tropical environment. I will definitely return again. (We had stayed previously before covid). I would say the only slight drawback is the pool area which is a little small so feels crowded and overlooked. This would not stop me going back though as I love the beach area so much and the feel of the property.

We stayed at Anantara for 6 nights for our honeymoon and it was incredible. Staff: Staff were so kind and friendly. Tua, our Villa host, greeted us from the boat with welcome drinks and we swapped WhatsApp numbers so we could reach out to her any time we needed anything. She was the best! We also want to shout out the bar manager/sommelier who was so knowledgeable and helpful, the server we had for making our Designer Dinner so perfect, and the staff that cleaned up our room. Room & Facilities: We booked the ocean pool suite which was on the second floor with a plunge pool and ocean view. It felt very private, was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. They even had a pillow menu to suit your needs. Our only complaint is that the bathroom did not have a vent, so we always had to open the door to shower and such. The beach itself was gorgeous and always clean. Food & Drink: Breakfast was so good every morning, especially the mango coconut chia pudding. I’d come back to Thailand just for that. It was the same options every day during our stay, but there was plenty of variety so it would be our fault if it felt a little redundant. Our Designer Dinner on the beach was fantastic—delicious, just a bit too much food for just two people. Drinks were good as well. Now here’s my only complaint: the prices of all the restaurant foods were way too high—expensive for even USD standards. We couldn’t justify paying so much when we were walking distance to much cheaper, delicious, authentic food. We must not have been the only ones, because all the resort restaurants were pretty empty most of the time aside from breakfast. This is NOT a reflection on the quality of the food—what we did have was so, so good. Location: We wanted a secluded resort for our honeymoon, so this was a great option because it’s very quiet and there is still the small town you can walk to. The only time it was a challenge was when we’d need to go to the other side of the island for different boat tours or the Full Moon Party, it was about 40 minutes. Our tours usually picked us up or we were able to find a shuttle for the Full Moon Party, it was just a lot of extra time. Spa: It was a beautiful spa with friendly staff, but again, I think it did not justify the cost when there were much cheaper massage places down the street. Overall, I would come back here in a heartbeat, but just for what is already included in the booking. It definitely was the nicest part of the island and the staff really made it such a wonderful trip.

Very nice hotel and rooms. The restaurant was also very good, and the breakfast was really complete, with very attentive waitresses. My only concern was having to practically beg at the reception for just a 30-minute late check-out. Since I had a massage until 12 pm, I only needed half an hour, but the villa host “Tua” was inflexible about it, and it was not possible to handle this with her directly — I had to go to the reception and explain the situation.

We stayed there for 4 nights, a couple with a 1.3 year old baby. The good: The hotel is luxurious in various aspects with a 'White lotus' level service, looking after you several times a day, with a smile and positive attitude. The hotel looks absolutely stunning: pool, beach, restaurant. Everything is so instagramable. The pool is nice and located right next to one of the better beaches I've been to with cool water and soft sand. The bad: Having no kids club was difficult for us. There is no complaint here because we knew it in advance, but for a family with a baby, this is essential. Gym is very small and has only the very basic equipment. The hotel offers yoga lessons for a high price. I just don't understand why such a luxurious hotel, that already has a matching price tag, charges for yoga lessons instead of offering it to its guests like other hotels. The basics: Location is good but not great. The village is lovely with good places to eat and get a massage but it's very small and anything outside the village requires at least 30 min drive. It's good for short stays only. The room is spacious and pleasant with a beautiful balcony. The balcony pool is nice (though not very useful, we prefered the hotel pool). I was missing a central control for all the lights. Breakfast is fantastic. You can order from the rich menu or get various dishes from the buffet.
