Anarkali Indian Restaurant

We went for a late lunch around 2:30 PM with the family. The restaurant wasn’t crowded, but when we ordered, the staff mentioned they were busy handling online orders — which actually made us think they must be good. And we weren’t wrong! We ordered Chicken Tikka Tandoor, Saag Paneer, Chicken Kurma, Malai Kofta, Naan, Roti, Mango Lassi, and Chai. Except for the Mango Lassi and Chai, which were just okay, everything else was absolutely delicious — flavorful, rich, and prepared in a true dhaba-style manner. Each dish had its own distinctive taste and the right amount of spice — we ordered some medium and some hot, and both were perfectly balanced. The ambiance is simple and decent, nothing fancy, but the food definitely stands out. If you’re craving authentic, flavorful Indian food, this is a great place to visit.

The food here is so tasty. One of the yummiest Indian restaurants in all LA. We ordered 4 dishes and they did not disappoint. The owner is very nice, and accommodated our needs. It’s very clean and the restaurant is really lovely. I’d recommend the chicken korma. My friend really loved the chai tea. I love the mango ice cream and rice pudding.

This is the best Indian food I've ever tried! Tried the Chicken tikka masala with sweet man and the Lentils soup. It was splendid. Mohamed was super kind and fast offering us some complementary entrees.

The restaurant is super beautiful and cozy. Service was quick and friendly. Mohammed was our host and he is very caring and friendly . The food is very delicious and the price is very fair. There is also parking at the back of the restaurant. I definitely recommend. I can’t wait to be back with my friends.

Went here for an early dinner with friends and everyone was extremely nice and welcoming! Everything was shareable so highly recommend starting out with one of each dish you get if you’re with a group. The Sag paneer and chicken tandoori were delicious! They even gave us some desserts on the house <3

I had the most wonderful meal here at Anarkali with my dear friend. Service and the staff were absolutely amazing. They checked in with us throughout the meal and even sent us home with some extra rice for leftovers. I highly recommend this spot for dates or bigger group dinners.

Absolutely wonderful experience here! The lamb korma was a standout dish for us, but everything was cooked perfectly and the staff is welcoming and so sweet! Prices are a great value. I love that they have so many booths available, it’s really cozy inside. Parking is easy and it’s walking distance to some other great stores. We’ll be coming here a lot more in the future!

The food here is consistently delicious! I typically order lunch specials during the work week but decided to come for a birthday celebration on the weekend and was not disappointed! The chicken tikka is so flavorful and tender, garlic basil naan was amazing, and my favorite chicken tikka masala was divine. The masala sauce is amazing - can eat it on a flip flop! Service was friendly and prompt! We even had a visit from the owner who wanted to make sure we were happy customers. The ambiance is very laid back and relaxing. Love the music and decor that makes it feel like an authentic experience. We will definitely be coming back again and again.

Food was overall good. We enjoyed our meal and everything tasted pretty authentic. They give you complimentary chips and dip which was nice. We ordered off the lunch special and were stuffed by the end. We ordered an appetizer that they forgot to bring out but it worked out because we wouldn't have been able to finish. Service was really slow. The guy said they had a new chef so we were understanding. However, it felt like our waiter was no where to be found for the majority of our time and we had to ask for a refill on our drink. I guess we just came at a slow time because the restaurant was empty.

For several years, Anarkali restaurant has been a regular spot for my family and I. At Anarkali, service is always authentically warm and the food is always delicious and plentiful. They have recently done some upgrades to the dining room and they're very pretty with a minimalist feel that doesn't lack character or warmth. I'd recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala! Enjoy!!!

Found this place on Yelp - was super curious of the amazing reviews it has online so I came try it with my love ones. To start with, YES THIS PLACE IS AMAZING FROM THE SERVICE, to the AMBIANCE, and the FOOD!! Literally 10/10 does not do this place justice! Muhammad helped us, and he was very kind and help with the selection. He even sent us Samosas and Rice Pudding on the house!! Came for an early dinner. Clean place and bright. The staff was super friendly. We had never been here before, so It took us a while to pick our dishes. We ended up deciding: - Chicken Tandoori - Flavorful on a hot skillet - Paneer Korma - (mild spice level). Flavorful with the blending coconut flavor to dip! - Garlic Naan - Flakey and dipped well with ALL dishes -Beef Vindaloo - (spicy spice level) - great flavor and well balanced! - Biryani Rice -Brown rice ALL DISHES WERE FLAVORFUL, not salty, and generous in portion! For the quality, service, and pride point- honestly truly happy with this restaurant that has been here for 45 years!!! Simply amazing!! Literally would recommend to everyone and will be back!!! This was an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

We have been to this restaurant twice now. Fast service! Cute booths great for a couple and larger dining area for groups. Very friendly staff! We've tried the dinner for two special and really enjoyed the vegetable samosas, paratha, tandoori, tikka masala, chai, and Galub jamun. The chicken korma and aloo gobi are also good! We definitely plan to return!

Great Indian food spot! This place was recommended to me by a coworker and the food did not disappoint. Samosas - they're pretty big! Filled with curried potatoes and peas. Can never go wrong with samosas. It comes with mint chutney and tamarind. My favorite was tamarind and it's a little sweet and pairs well with the samosas. I also like to dip in both. Butter Chicken - one of my favorites to get if they offer it. It's rich and creamy tomato with big chunks of chicken. I got a medium and it was perfect amount of spicy for me. Cheese Naan - they are huge! You can split into two and share. I like to dip mine in the butter chicken. I think I would try out the garlic cheese naan instead. It needed a little more flavor on its own but perfect for dipping in curry. I'd order here again for lunch. They give a lot of food and I was able to split into 2 meals. The only downside is if you want their lunch menu special, you would have to call. They don't offer it on their website currently to order online. I think their lunch specials are totally worth it!

My mom loves Indian cuisine and I wanted to take her to an authentic Indian restaurant while she was visiting me in LA. Needless to say, the food was amazing and the restaurant was so beautiful inside (still suitable for casual dining though). We ordered: Vegetable Samosas Coconut Shrimp Garlic Basil Naan Onion Chutney Chicken Jalfrezi Chicken Biryani Mango Khulfi "ice cream" AND Mohammed gave us 2 orders of Rice Pudding on the house! :)

Amazing food and the warmest service from Mohammed!! The appetizer for 2 was perfect to try a variety of the appetizers. Juicy chicken tandoori was sizzling when it came out. Perfectly charred and delicious. Tikka masala was so creamy and flavorful. Have to get the garlic naan with that!! Also the Mango lassi was sooo creamy and thick and can taste the real mango flavors. Probably the best one Ive ever had! Will definitely be back. -they also have parking in the lot across the street. Plenty of street parking as well

We have been loyal patrons of Anarkali for many, many years, always enjoying the outstanding food and service. We especially loved the samosas, which had unique dough and delicious vegetable filling. Unfortunately, about a year ago, the long-time cook left, and the quality of the food has noticeably declined since then. We decided to give the restaurant another try after the cook left, but the sauces and curry chicken just weren't the same. We chalked it up to being overly picky at the time and hoped it was a one-time issue. A week ago, I sent my husband to buy samosas, hoping to enjoy the same delicious treat we used to freeze for later. Sadly, the samosas were a huge disappointment. The dough seemed stale, as if they had been sitting around and were simply reheated. The filling was poorly made, with half-mashed potatoes and large chunks, completely different from the well-blended filling we loved. The sauces that accompanied the samosas were just horrible. The mint sauce barely had any mint and was extremely watery, almost like tinted water. The tamarind sauce was even worse--far from the taste, smell, or color it should have had. It also resembled tinted water, with the red sauce being spicy but equally tasteless. Both sauces were so bad that I almost vomited after trying them. After giving Anarkali several chances, we have decided not to return. It's heartbreaking to say goodbye to a place we loved for so many years, but the change in cook has unfortunately led to a significant drop in food quality.

Had a great dinner at Anarkali and wanted to share all the delicious vegan options we enjoyed: papadam, samosas with accompanying sauces, lentil vegetable soup, garlic naan (yes, the naan was vegan!), saffron rice, vegetable curry, chana masala, tofu vindaloo, tofu bhuna. Excellent service, beautiful atmosphere and the best Indian cuisine! Highly recommend.

The chicken tikka masala at Anarkali was so yummy. The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly. Paired with soft garlic basil naan and fragrant pulao rice, it was a truly satisfying meal. The portion was generous, and the flavors were authentic and well-balanced. Highly recommended! (also - get the lamb korma as well with some heat and you got yourself a perfect balanced meal for two. good date spot) Staff was also super friendly!

Best Indian food in LA. Consistent quality. Great staff offering great service. Great value for your money. Ambiance is nice, quiet. Make sure to call them directly if you're ordering for a nearby delivery or pickup order - they'll take great care of you, and you won't have to pay those fees for the apps.

My family and I have ordered from this restaurant several times, but this was our first time dining in, and it definitely won't be the last! Everything was a perfect 10/10. Mohammad made us feel like family, and the food was absolutely delicious. The table went completely quiet as soon as the food arrived--always a sign that the meal is amazing! We forgot to take a picture of the food, but here is a picture of our empty plates after we devoured everything. Highly recommend!

Lunch Special 11-3p: Chicken Marsala (boneless cube chicken pieces) in a sweet sauce, it was ok. I find the india AYCE buffets in El Segundo better. It included, a plain Naan and was more on doughier side. Al Noor (El Segundo) makes it in a clay oven so it's flakier. The lunch special is mainly: some meat in a sauce with bread or plain rice. No veggies so it's not really a balance meal w/o adding another entrée or dish. Other India buffets in El Segundo has a mix. This restaurant has high reviews, so I was surprise to find it was just "OK" tasting compared to others I've tried which were buffets vs. made to order dish. Lamb biryani was flavorful, but the Medium spicy was too spicy and made my nose run. The lamb is boneless/tender but the rice seems on the watery side. Service WAs GOOD. Very friendly, easy going, and accommodating. The restaurant has a Cute décor. It's like a mini Taj Mahal inside. With sunlight, the TINY booths are bright towards front of restaurant or darker towards the kitchen. It's good for small group 5, 2 or single. There is a long table in the middle for larger groups. There is only meter Street parking in front of restaurant with a 2hr limit. Individual M or F restroom. it was clean but has a strange sewer smell maybe due to being an OLD building. Wear a mask or hold your nose.

Came to a favorite of our's tonight, Anarkali! We will keep coming back for the amazing service, ambiance and food. LA is a place with so many options for dinner, but this is by far our favorite restaurant for Indian. After our meal today, the owner recognized us and gave us free dessert! Just wanted to share about one of our many amazing experiences here :)

We had a great first experience here! The royal feast is great and you get a little bit of everything. The owner was really kind and welcoming. The only negatives: the chicken tikka masala was very tomato-paste tasting and the parking is a bit challenging

This was the BEST Indian food I have ever had!!! We went in during lunch time and there was only one person working so the service was a bit slow. However, the food was well worth the wait because we could not stop eating once we got the food. The mint & cilantro chutney was also so good -- I think our table used up 2 refills of it. I would recommend to anyone doing a bit of shopping near Melrose for a pleasant surprise. Our Dishes: Butter Chicken (10/10): This was insanely good, especially with a side of Garlic and Cheese Naan. Unbeatable. Chicken Tandoori (7/10): Good but could have done without. Definitely wasn't as good as the saucier options.

What a beautiful welcoming Indian restaurant! I was so surprised to see it wasn't busy when we got there. Mostly people picking up but omg the atmosphere is cozy! True delicious authentic Indian food! Everything was so delicious and Muhammad was so sweet, kind and welcoming! He gifted us free desert and some extra rice! He put everything in boxes for us and sent us home with extra naan! 100% recommend this place! We will be coming here again ! Thank you for the kind service and warmest welcome!

I truly don't know what the hype is with this place. I eat a lot of Indian food and this place just is not good. Chicken tikka masala is pure tomato paste. The lentil soup has no salt and no flavor. I didn't even want to finish my food. This was the nastiest Indian food I've had. Their bathroom smells like chemicals mixed with burnt rubber. I had to cover my nose while I used the bathroom. After very nicely complaining and giving feedback on the food the guy just smiled and said sorry and we've been open over 40 years Not worth the hype and people reviewing this place with good reviews have not had legit Indian food. Go to Agra Tandoori or Anarbagh in encino it's top tier. Never coming back!

Food was amazing and the staff was super hospitable. We came in during the LA fires, and he made sure we ate our fill and more. Overall, our experience was wonderful and we had a great time! I highly recommend 10/10 :)

The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making our experience special. Now, the food--WOW. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, the garlic naan was fresh and perfectly crisp, and the biryani was aromatic and filled with delicious spices. There's also plenty of vegetarian options that are delicious, I love the Saag Dal & Aloo Gobi - super flavorful! The ambiance was also lovely, cozy, and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxing meal or a celebratory evening out. If you're looking for the best Indian food in town with top-notch service, this is the place to go. We're already planning our next visit!

Food was great and the service was exceptional. You feel extremely welcomed as soon as you step foot into the restaurant. When they found out that it was our first time, we received an appetizer plate on the house. After dinner, when we received our check, the server thanked us again using our names. A small touch but a noticeable one. Highly recommend.

Amazing little spot, the service was great and the food was also great! Parking is a bit hard for the area but that's kind of expected in West Hollywood. We had the coconut hurry, paneer tikka masala, and the mattar paneer. All of it was so good. We also loved the garlic naan! Would recommend and be back.

To get to five stars we need something unique and different we haven't had before. This is pretty solid northern Indian food prepared for American tastes. Flavors are solid and predictably delicious. Chicken Tikka masala is sweeter. Like bbq sauce almost. I would not repeat on this. The chicken was dry. The korma sauce is savory and almost like a gravy. Very tasty and worth a repeat. Naan bread was cooked to perfection. The tamarind sauce was amazing. A bit spicy and had great depth of flavor. The cilantro chutney was perfection. The chai took awhile to arrive. Actually we had finished our meal and I was writing this review before it showed up. I heard lots of "sorry your food is taking so long" types of comments. Busy but reasonable wait in food tbh. Nothing out of the ordinary with service. There seemed to be plenty of start and lots of seating from groups of 2 to 10. I'd come again and perhaps try the coconut curry or something more unique. The best butter chicken ever ! I come here religiously and love the staff ! So welcoming and I always leave so happy that I made the decision to come ! The best music playing and I'm always so well taken care of ! If you're looking for authentic Indian food with great service, come here !

The minute you walk in, you feel like you have been transported to an Indian palace. I just wish the flavors reflected the magic of the decor. We had asked for our food to be mild, since we had kids, but the food that we had, didn't have any flavoring. Paneer tikka masala was bland and tasted as though we ordered paneer in tomato sauce. Im not sure if this was because we ordered mild or not, but it was disappointing considering we traveled 60 miles.

$23 for a container of chicken tikka masala that is 3/4 full. The tikka masala itself is overly tomato-y and has zero depth. Tastes watered down. No spices detectable at all. Naan tasted like Trader Joe's pre-packaged stuff out of a bag. Rice was overcooked and mushy. This place used to be OK -- not sure what happened.

came here for the second time and everything was a total 360, service was bad, food was cold, it was just not good :( v disappointed. it felt like the worker had a bad day. when we walked in he was on his phone and made us sit ourselves, which was totally different than the last time. food was cold. music stopped playing for awhile. def left a bad taste in my mouth, won't be back

Quality spot for Indian food with a huge menu and some dishes you won't find at all Indian places. I like the mix and match between curries and proteins. Masala fries were the only miss for me and service was not the most attentive but will be coming back to try more menu items.

Ordered the usual, chicken tikka masala and butter chicken with garlic basil naan. We received vegetable soup while waiting, as well as a crispy bread and sauces to dip in. Both were very good! The appetizers arrived and were impressed with the lamb and onion fried ball. The dinner came and we loved how creamy and rich flavors were in both curries. Service was quick and the server was very responsive, even gave some treats on the house! Will come again!!

Best Indian place in Hollywood! The service is impeccable and they always give free appetizers or dessert! The setting and ambiance is perfect for a cute date... this is my 4th time eating here and the food is delicious! Highly recommend the coconut curry! They also have vegan and vegetarian options!

I have ordered for my last two production companies here and they have absolutely LOVED IT! My coordinator has been raving about her Tofu Korma since I brought it in today. The owners are superrrrr nice, anytime I've had to wait more than 5 mins they're always kind enough to give me a water and small soup while waiting. They've been open for 45 years and now I see why! Their customer service goes above and beyond. Be sure to try their lamb curry it's so good!

We just dined here and I have say the owner couldn't be lovelier, he treated us so nicely, we told him it was our first time there and he gave us a complimentary side dish which we really appreciated. Everything was great! I did noticed that a lot of the dishes we had were on the sweeter side which I've never had before, not sure if it's a regional thing, but I though I'd mention it in case someone else needs to know that. The ambiance is really nice, the decor is nice, and overall it was a good experience! My favorite part was definitely the owner! What a great guy! No wonder his restaurant has been around for 47 years!!! To end our meal we ended it with the most delicious mango ice cream that tasted like frozen mouse! Yum!

The food, service, and ambiance was next level Anarkali! Hands down the best Indian food in all of Los Angeles. Will definitely be coming back here for many years to come.

Ordered takeout and still waiting after more than almo2 hours. I was told 45 minutes and after calling to check on the order, I was met with rudeness and hung up on... talk about customer service! At this point, I might just eat my arm. I'll update you if I survive (the arm eating) or receive the food I already paid for. Update 2: Made the mistake of ordering from here again. Shame on me. I'm really disappointed. The food used to be good, but now it's pretty hard to muscle down. It's especially irritating that they have forgotten half of my order on more than one occasion. I'm done giving this establishment multiple chances to be consistent in quality and reliable in delivery. The frozen Trader Joe's Indian delivers a better price point and outcome.

This place is a HIDDEN GEM. The owner so sweet and also the servers are so attentive. The food is delish and since it was our first time we were given a free mango lassi, chicken tikka, and free dessert. I would definitely come back. 10000/10!!!

This is a great LA local restaurant! When you eat here, you feel like family. Many times while we were there, the owner of the restaurant came over to personally check in on us. He even treated us to a free dessert. The dishes are large. The food is delish. The place was very clean. The whole time, they had nonstop to go orders. I would definitely order from here again or eat in.
