Anchor & Tree Coffee House at 16th and N in Sacramento is truly something special. The coffee is beautifully roasted with a nutty depth and just the right amount of flavor depending on what you order. You can immediately tell they don't rely on excessive sweetness to mask mediocre beans, the quality of the coffee stands on its own. I ordered the hot masala chai with espresso and an iced pistachio latte, and both were outstanding. Balanced, flavorful, and thoughtfully crafted, nothing overpowering, just really good coffee done right. What made this stop unforgettable, though, was the service. Lexi was an absolute gem. Her patience, kindness, and genuine customer care were top-notch. She answered all of my questions thoughtfully and was warm and conversational while making the drinks, which really shows her skill and confidence. For me, the heart of any coffee shop is service with a smile and Lexi delivered service with heart and soul. I'm so glad I stopped by on my way back to San Diego, and this will absolutely be a must-visit spot every time I'm back in Sacramento. Highly recommend!

Google
Anchor Tree is unique and you won’t find something else like this in Sacramento if not your own home. If you want genuinely delicious coffee, straight up - this is the spot. Their beans make a solid cup of quality coffee and for a gift that shows you care. Unique drink menu if you want something different, kind service that answered all of our questions, and the best black coffee we’ve had in the Sac area as we visited twice during our holiday stay. Will definitely be coming back! 🤎

🌿 Anchor & Tree Coffee Roasting Co – Sacramento, CA ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a lovely hidden gem in Sacramento! 🌟 We stopped by for coffee — our first time here — and immediately felt the calm and cozy vibe of the place. It’s peaceful and welcoming, a perfect spot to pause in the middle of the city buzz. One thing that really caught our attention was the large, unique coffee machine in the back. I’m not sure exactly what it does — maybe it roasts, cleans, or processes the beans — but it definitely adds a special charm and gives the place an authentic feel. There are big bags of coffee beans stacked nearby, which makes it feel like you’re inside a true roasting house. ☕ The coffee itself was delicious, rich and flavorful — you can really taste the quality. You can sit comfortably at one of the tables or lounge on the cozy sofa. A sweet bonus — there’s a cute little photo zone just to the right when you walk in. Two woven chairs, perfect for couples or friends to snap a pic together. 📸 Definitely recommend visiting this cafe — it’s got charm, character, and most importantly — good coffee. 😊☕ R E C O M M E N D 💯 (Лично мой)

Google
Was lucky enough to try their coffee during a private event. Coffee was great, use of syrup was phenomenal as it gave the flavor but didn't make it too sweet. Immaculate vibes and Donovan was lovely.

I like this place. It's cozy, warm and staff is friendly. The mocha is smooth and coconutty. The ham and cheese croissant comes with a little cheese skirt and are tasty. I should try the bagels next time.

Google
Anchor & Tree is a true gem of a coffee shop and roaster in Sacramento. Ryan was incredibly knowledgeable and walked me through their selection of specialty beans and roast profiles—his passion for coffee really shines through. I had the cold brew, and it was absolutely delicious: smooth, bold, and perfectly balanced. I also picked up a bag of their Ethiopia Acacia light roast—excited to brew it at home! What makes this spot even better is their commitment to quality and community. Everything is roasted in-house, and they proudly collaborate with over 40 local businesses. If you’re looking for top-tier coffee, locally sourced and served with good vibes, this is the place.

Google
Lovely coffee shop with the sweetest owner. We got a chocolate chip cookie and the cinnamon vanilla mocha, both were great and feature some of their infused maple syrup and honey. The drinks also come in completely biodegradable cups, the only shop in Sacramento to do so. Donovan let us sample all of their roasts, which they roast in-house. They promote local Sacramento artists and sell their work in the shop, from deep sea photography to beautifully carved tables.

Google
Cool place with much wood, coffee beans and amazing drinks. They have regular coffee drinks as well as crafted drinks. Not much food , some oatmeal and bagels there. Price per drink is higher than average. But it’s worth it.

Yelp
Anchor and tree are the best coffee makers in Sacramento. I come here everyday. They roast their own beans and really cultivate nice speciality beans. One of the most unique is their mint mojito. One of my favorites is their Bourbon sidra. As a side effect their speciality coffees are next level. Their Pumpkin Harvest latte is heads and shoulders above Fall speciality drinks. Donavan, the owner, puts a lot of heart into the Anchor and Tree coffee shop. Not only does he pay attention to details with the coffee, he partners with local businesses and creates a community. You can actually but some of the coffee tables at the coffee shop that are made by a local carpenter. The service is great and the staff have learned my name and welcome me when I come for my caffeine hit.

Adi I.

Yelp
Anchor and Tree has quickly become my favorite coffee shop. As someone who loves variety, Anchor and Tree is perfect, they have a lot of seasonal beans that have unique taste profiles. The Bourbon Sidra feels just like eating blueberries. They had a cool strawberry fermented beans. They roast the beans in house so I've never had a stale cup of coffee here. Their lattes aren't sugared up like chain stores that like to hide the burnt coffee taste. The lattes are carefully crafted by the owner Donovan to show off the subtle tasting notes of their beans. Their service is the best, all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone knows your name and how you like you coffee. It's a great place to be for coffee enthusiasts who want to try out different coffees.

Yelp
Ah, I can remember the smell when I stepped through the door. The smell of roasted beans being churned away in the back was an unforgettable moment. The machines that were grinding or roasting the beans were so high-tech looking and you can especially see beans bouncing around like a washing machine lol. It was an experience to see this in person for sure. Anyhow, besides that, I grabbed a pumpkin spiced matcha latte from their fall menu. Beeeest matcha I've ever had. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, slightly pumpkiny, and amazing! The matcha wasn't very pronounced, but the other flavors complemented the matcha very well. 10/10. I still dream about it every night. Their to-go cups aren't very desirable because they're compostable and kind of fragile. If you get a hot drink, it kind of starts disintegrating and can't keep its composure too well. So I'd highly recommend getting the drinks inside to drink and experience some live action coffee bean roasting and grinding! Super friendly staff, and it was quite spacious inside. They also have a fancy locker for drinks placed for to-go. I thought that was pretty cool too!

Yelp
In my never ending quest to find a good coffee shop near my place of employment, I think I may have finally found one in Anchor and Tree. They roast coffee on site and have some of the friendliest staff I've encountered. I absolutely love the ambiance here. I can definitely see myself chilling here reading a book while sipping on coffee even during the weekends when I don't come during my in office days. They have quite a few tables inside for you to enjoy your coffee as well as a couch near the back of the shop. I love how they got amount of coffee drink varieties to choose from on their menu as well as a small selection of pastries. The chocolate chip cookie is damn good btw! But they don't always have that unfortunately. If you're a state worker, be sure to bring your badge for a 10% discount off your entire bill.

Yelp
Anchor and Tree is just that place!!! Originally came here for a yelp elite event earlier in 2025! Came back today and Lexi was behind the bar! She was very nice! I got an almond croissant warmed up! To drink I got the snickerdoodle chai latte iced! The croissant was flaky and delicious! The iced chai was so good! It had just that perfect amount of snickerdoodle in it! This is a great coffee shop not only to get drinks and pastries but also coffee beans! The really cool thing about anchor is that they use 100 percent compostable cups! I truly believe the owner, Donovan is that guy! He puts his heart into this place and I truly think you can tell! If you are looking for a new place to get coffee, or a treat or just get some work done, please come here! Our local businesses need us! Fun facts- they offer 10% of to state workers, you can roast your own beans here, this place is really green (environment). Can't wait to come back millions more times and try everything!

Yelp
Upon discovering Anchor and Tree Coffee Roasters at a Yelp Event, I've been buying all my coffee beans from them because of their low acidity. My favorites at the moment are the Brazil and Peru varieties. The owner and staff are among the best - they're helpful and make great coffee drinks. The menu offerings are always interesting and adventurous. The interior is warm and inviting: lots of space, a roasting machine, a siphon coffee machine, and fun merchandise for sale. Whenever I happen to be at the Saturday Midtown Farmer's Market, I always visit their booth because I get to sample their coffees and learn about the new beans they have to offer.

Yelp
Came here to work for a few hours because it had a nice seating area for casual/solo working and group talking. It is pretty quiet with some light music so you can hear some talking around you but it elevates the "cozy" experience! I love the ambiance and the paintings on the wall from a local artist + sustainability of their products. The overall vibe was very friendly and cozy! I got the vanilla cinnamon mocha which was delicious! I can really taste the cinnamon, which I LOVE and the drink was not too sweet. The front desk offers some bagels and pastries that I did not try, but would want to try the next time I come here.

Yelp
As Anchor and Tree Coffee Roasting continues to settle in and grow it's becoming a staple for my coffee needs. It is now all Anchor and Tree Coffee Roasting- including the cafe side that was previously run by Burnside Coffee (they now have their own location on K street) and the menu has been updated to reflect this. I've always found street parking easily in the area and it's a great spot for meetings or to hang out with friends. There's a lot of natural light and plenty of seating. There are tables, benches, window seating, a couch and a really cool wood table. They roast coffee on site and it makes the whole shop smell amazing. They sell bags of their coffee as well as all the options in the cafe. They also have some food and they carry other local products like jams, hot sauce, art and more. The owner and staff here are really friendly as well and are happy to answer any questions.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
The baristas are really caring and they make good coffee. I always go in confused because the store sells some fancy coffee, but the staff is always patient and walks me through ordering. There are a lot of places to sit and different kinds of seating. There's a couch, bigger table, individual seating off to the side, and stools by the window. Wonderful.

Yelp
Definitely not Starbucks! Eco friendly shop, with products around the cafe from local artists and businesses that all work together to support one another. Nicely decorated with a relaxing feel, great, attentive and helpful staff and service, and our coffees were excellent! Nice bonus for state workers: 10% off. Definitely a place to put on your list.

Yelp
Great service right off the bat. Best setup, with an onsite automated coffee bean roasting machine, various beans for grinding, and plenty of seating. We got a hot vanilla latte with Oatmilk. It tasted great. I forgot to take a picture, but the recyclable-ready cup was super nifty and had this "fold to drink" process. Check out the video of the roasting machine. Definitely worth returning for!

Yelp
I've been meaning to try Anchor & Tree ever since I saw they had a storefront! (Before they had a brick and mortar, I had the opportunity to try some of their whole beans from a Yelp event and really enjoyed the coffee.) Like all downtown businesses, I don't love finding parking, but it wasn't too hard to find nearby street parking. The interior is clean & nicely decorated, featuring local art for sale. I came in couple times during their reopening week (January 1-7, 2025). The first time I tried a latte. I also bought some beans as a gift. When I was looking at their menu again later that day, I questioned why I didn't try any of their signature drinks - they sounded so good! So being addicted to coffee, I had to get back ASAP. This time I tried the Dirty Rose Chai Latte and the Passionfruit Honey Americano. (They have oat milk at no-up charge.) Great drinks, but even better service. The service is genuinely welcoming and friendly. They are very good about making what they stand for known (zero-emissions, LGBTQ & locally owned). Definitely a great small business in Sac that I will love continuing to visit to fulfill my coffee needs.

Yelp
I've been to Anchor and Tree a few times in the past through events and when Burnside Coffee was here. I think I find myself coming in more frequently than before because of the ambience and the chill vibes. It doesn't feel rushed, packed (or at least when I come) and I feel I can relax to enjoy my morning. They roast in house and love that they are environmentally friendly. Absolutely love all their coffee beans and their latest drink creations. I've had both the iced & hot version of the peach whiskey latte. And I gotta say, I think I like the iced version better. Oat or whole milk is standard which you don't see often because sometimes I feel like I'm being punished for being dairy free (not by choice). Overall great place and I know I'll be back.

Yelp
I am from out of town. San Diego to be exact but I was in the area spending the day in Sacramento. I wanted to find a unique coffee experience that I couldn't find back at home. After some searching I came across Anchor and they did not disappoint. Coffee infused lemonades? Who would have thought? The two Barista's on staff were kind and inviting. They were beyond helpful, allowing me to smell some of the co-fermentations and just giving a great hospitable vibe. When there are two many good options on a menu to choose from I like to ask for recommendations and I was guided to try either the Watermelon Whiskey Smash lemonade or their Strawberry Shortcake Latte. I couldn't decide so I got both. One for here and the other To-Go. Both drinks were so different but equally delicious. Not too sweet and deliciously balanced. I'll be going home and dreaming about the Watermelon Smash because this was the unique coffee drink of my dreams. So surprising and yet taste bud tantalizing and exciting. So glad I swung by to try it out!

Yelp
I tried the matcha fruit roll up iced and it was refreshing, would definitely order that again. I also appreciate the 10% off for state workers! It's a short walk from my office so I will be going back on my lunch break again. Nicely decorated inside and comfortable seating.

Yelp
My chai was soooo delicious. I didn't need to add sweetener as chai is naturally sweet. Best chai I have ever had. Not made with premade syrups or powders. Customer service was excellent with great attitude. Decor and furniture are cute, place is clean. Cool to see their coffee roasting machine. Love it.

Yelp
Such a cute shop. Parking is a little difficult. Love drinking out of a ceramic mug. WiFi works great. Good place for groups of 2-4. Bathroom was clean and hip.

Yelp
Great coffee place and I also love its support of other small businesses. Service is fantastic! The barista is friendly and knowledgeable and gave really amazing recommendations. The owners are super nice. One of the co-owners Donavon saw me interested in the place (taking pictures and wandering). So he was super kind to give me a tour and introduce me to a lot of fun elements of the place. I have a cold shaken cappuccino with 100 Grand Bar coffee. It's so smooth and well balanced. For food I got the fig, prosciutto, goat cheese galette. They get pastries from a small baking business and this pastry is sweet, savory, buttery and very delicious. Other than great coffee and great vibes. The co-owners feature 35+ other small businesses. Their products, art, even the tables are for sale too. Truly a place that supports local. The cafe pup is so cute too. Really adds a smile to everyone. I can't want to come back and try more!

Yelp
Lovely way to start the day! Got a Pizza Bean Supreme - lasagna coffee bean, hot honey, A2 milk, pineapple infused cold foam on top. Served cold and paired perfectly with the seasonal treat - a pumpkin cinnamon roll! Great and diverse coffee menu made with very great and house roasted beans. Cool swanky seating area with soft seating and regular cafe seating. Gotta hang out and talk to the coffee masters on the coffee beans and their funky cool creations!

Yelp
Great coffee and tea and great peeps! It is an adorable shop with cute interior and aesthetics. They always have cute signs with silly messages on the outside and their menu has all the safe originals and also a unique variety of coffee and tea choices. The barista was super friendly and welcoming and she made my hojicha matcha so perfectly! I think I also got a chance to meet the owner, who was also super welcoming and friendly! Super lovely folks and delicious coffee and tea! Beating myself up on not trying it out sooner, I will definitely be returning to try out more drinks and Anchor and Tree will now be my go to cafe!!

Yelp
Well... this place continues to AMAZE ME!!!! Be warned! This is NOT Starbucks! They don't have half and half, they don't have sweetener other than what's house made, they don't have Carmel macchiatos... but they do have some amazing coffee that will change your thoughts of what coffee could and should be! Also!!! This place prides themselves in conversation and passion for the product. Do not come here if you have 5 minutes to get to work. This is the type of place you ensure you don't rush and enjoy the experience, relax, and enjoy the most delicious freakin cup of coffee. Expect your coffee to take 15-30 minutes depending on line and what you order! The wait is worth it It's not cheap... but nothing they do here is cheap. The milks are specifically chosen to compliment the flavor profile of the beans and how they blend and balance the drink. The syrups and accoutrements are ALL house made or from local small businesses. It's all ethically sourced and equally amazing! The cups are small, but if you watched, they weigh every single element to ensure consistency across the board for continuity of flavor every single time! Thus the milk to coffee ratio is perfectly balanced. Still a double shot for most of their drinks, but less milk... because we are actually all here to taste the different flavor profiles and not just maaaalllllkkkkk lol! This is not your life long idea of iced coffee. Do not expect your drink to be full of ice, thus resulting and a much smaller cup of coffee as it is shaken and chilled, very few drinks include a large whiskey rock . The result, coffee that is full of flavor and not watered down! The menu... it can be a bit overwhelming. I'll be honest. But don't hesitate to go to the front and ask for recommendations. They are all about it! These guys seriously geek out on the products they produce and it's so fun! They'll be sure to direct you towards something amazing! But that being said, those of you who want a pour over!!!! This is also your spot! So many single origin naturals, anaerobics, co-ferments, fruit, stone fruit, floral, tropical... pick your poison! Yum! Sometimes they even have guest bags for pour over and will know exactly what coffee they have that will fulfill what you're looking for. Even down to the pasteries and bagels, they're thoughtful, locally sourced, and the flavors are complimentary. This is my go to spot every week when I get off shift. I spend an hour here in the morning. Enjoy the vibe, relax and sip slowly a very very nice cup of coffee! So... to wrap this book up... come to this coffee shop to be pleasantly surprised, enticed, and and satisfied with something that is unlike any other coffee experience I have had. Trust me, I'm from the PNW, I know a thing or two about coffee, coffee shops, and what sets them apart. And this is my Number 1 spot in North America! Because it's so different than anything I've ever had! Enjoy the trip

Yelp
The place is very clean! and in a fantastic area. One thing that stood out the most about this place is how passionate the staff are with the coffee they brew and the quality of their coffee. Ive been trying to stay away from coffee with a bunch of add ons so I decided to try their drip as part of a recommendation. It was well worth it. Highly recommend if you like high quality coffee at a reasonable price.

Yelp
If I could I would give this place 6 out of 5 stars. I schedule a coffee roasting session with Donovan this past week with a group of friends/family. I had done this session a while back with a private group and was excited to get the experience the full experience. Wow! Donovan made this amazing. Learning about the early history of coffee and the coffee roasting experience was great. Donovan has a way of making it so interesting and fun. Along with this we got to try out the coffee, a few espresso shots and some pastries as part of our experience. Of course, the highlight was basking in Donovan's ability to make this quite fun. It was like talking with a close friend about coffee. Other things to add. Love the location and the space. Anchor and Tree supports many local businesses and small farmers and it was great to see that almost everything in the place can be purchased. The coffee was great and learning about the green process in how it was roasted was even better. All I can say is that if you love your coffee and enjoying fresh beans, check out his coffee roasting class. You will NOT regret it. One last thing, there is parking on 17th street (If I recall correctly) that is free.
google avatar

Rodrigo V.

Yelp
The coffee here is delicious, but I super appreciate the barista who took the time to sit there and explain the menu to me as it was my first time in. Will definitely be back to explore more of their flavors!
google avatar

Bryan B.

Yelp
Great service. I was guided through the menu, then after being so well educated to make an informed choice between so many creative and well-thought out choices... had the barista choose for me. Well, I made him choose two for me. Yes, just for me and both espresso drinks were fantastic. Smooth, just the right amount of sweetness, and subtle flavor combinations that, like any great work of art, makes you think and keeps you thinking. I also had a "fig, prosciutto, & goat cheese galette," a sourdough based kind of pastry. Also completely fantastic. Both the espresso drinks and the pastry are easily the best of their kind I've ever had. Even the cups are well thought out, too--clever. Built in, slightly extended sippy spout means I can get the coffee to hit my old taste buds directly without staining my old teeth along the way, all without sullying the environment, or my style, by using a straw. Keep up the good work!

James S.

Yelp
According to Donovan, who attacked my knowledge in coffee without any information of my knowledge is pure ignorance. I'm a true believer that a customer isn't always right. And his reply stated that. But it doesn't take a genius to not be able to taste coffee in a cup of coffee. He wanted me to get my cup of cold brew corrected in real time, how do you correct a brew that's pre made?
google avatar

Phillip K.

Yelp
Go here go here go here. I have been to every coffee shop within 2 miles and I keep coming back to Anchor and Tree every single time. It is just better in every way. First, the coffee. I like just a straight espresso and you'd be surprised how hard it is to find a good one. The baristas here know what they are doing though and I never get a bad shot. I'm a fairly new coffee drinker so I don't have the lingo but look, it's just delicious. They roast their own beans in house and I buy a bag each time for at home. Have Donovan describe his roasting process, it's interesting. The customer experience is fantastic. I consider myself to be a high energy, overly positive, extrovert and Donovan matches that energy perfectly. I love coming in and seeing him and sometimes, if he's not there I'll come back later because he's just a super fun nice guy. It's super comfy inside and even though I'm just drinking the tiniest shot I'm never pressured to leave and always encouraged to take my time and relax. They have fun local art and products for sale with new stuff every couple of months. The value is incredible. I have recently been to places that have charged $5 or even $7 for a shot. And the coffee was good, but why pay more when you can come here and pay less for a better product? This is a personal thing, but I also love that his price for an espresso is the same for an americano. I can't believe how many places had .50 or $1 to add water. Again, I keep coming back here for a reason. The coffee is phenomenal and the staff are just fun. Check it out, say Phil with the beard sent you, and support an amazing local roaster.
google avatar

Joey S.

Yelp
My biggest takeaway from Anchor and Tree is that the people who own and operate the place truly know and love coffee (and what they do). It's evident in every detail and every menu item! We first tasted some of their coffee at a booth at a holiday showcase, and I both loved how much Donovan knows and cares about coffee and roasting. The different varieties were amazing to taste test. I then visited the store and saw it in person. The décor is eclectic and inviting. I opted for one of the pre-made coffee drinks (meaning they suggest a drink instead of me flavoring it myself). I'm glad I trusted the process, because the drink was delicious! If you're in the area, definitely give this shop a try!

Yelp
Rounding up to 4 stars but read my breakdown below. The good: cute lil spot, limited seating, has merch and the staff are nice. Prices are pretty standard. They offer 10% off for state workers as well. My coworkers enjoyed their drinks for the most part and come back every week or two. The enjoy the coffee and buy the beans here. The bad: I got a matcha latte. It was disappointing. It just tasted like milk with a little bit of matcha. Not sure if it was even a good grade of matcha by any means. The staff said it was good and reviews said it was good. I just came back from Japan and this matcha was not good. You can tell if the matcha is good by the color and when I peeked in the cup, it was a light pastel green. I would give it a 2/5 rating and thats me being generous. It was lacking. With the ambiance, customer service, and pricing I chose to give this place 3.75 stars rounding up to 4 seeing how my coworkers enjoyed it. I like to support local and will go again but will avoid the matcha and just get the coffee on my next visit.

Yelp
Looking to shake things up and try a new coffee shop, I made my way downtown to Anchor and Tree coffee. As others have mentioned, parking can be a little bit tricky as it is downtown street parking, but I managed to snag a spot. The space itself is very minimalist and modern. It has a very fun aesthetic and displays a variety of local artists and their work. I decided to try a salted caramel oat milk latte. I really appreciate that they do not charge for oat milk, because some of us cannot control the fact that we are lactose intolerant. While I was there, I also spotted a tasty looking tomato and pesto Galette and decided to give it a try. I love that they serve all of their products in compostable containers, and the coffee cup itself was definitely a unique experience. The latte was delicious and full of flavor without being overly sweet. And the Galette was so savory and satisfying. I will definitely be coming back to Anchor and Tree coffee in the near future.

Are you a coffee nerd and enthusiast like me? Well, do I have the place for you. Anchor and Tree (specifically the Burnside cafe kiosk inside) is truly a unique coffee service in Sacramento. The assortment of beans they serve are eclectic, ranging from light to dark roast as well as fermented beans. They use a manual espresso press. When I went in, I tried shots of a light roast (acacia), a medium roast (100 Grand), and a fermented bean (cannot remember the name, but it had elements of peach and peach gose). Honestly, I love the vibe of this place and the espresso shots were extremely well pulled. I think this is an amazing addition to the Sacramento coffee landscape and I'll definitely return.

Yelp
A solid five+ for this coffee house. Probably one of the best mochas I've had is here. It was so smooth, not overly sweet or chocolate-y. It was at a drinkable temperature and I can't wait to have another one. My SIL and daughter had the matcha and said it is the best they've ever had. Often they are too milky and not sweet. They said this was as good as any they've had in Japan. One of the specials is a strawberry latte. It had a beautiful strawberry smell but not overpowering strawberry flavor. It was also smooth and perfectly sweetened. Even the bagels were fantastic! So yes, go for the coffee. But the best part is the sustainability they are committed to. They roast their own beans from their responsibly sourced farms in a machine that is zero carbon emitting. Not only that, you can watch it happen! They are very knowledgeable and eager to talk about their coffee. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy. They have partnerships with local businesses like Wild Sisters books so you can do some gift shopping while you're having coffee. I was impressed that the staff were open to talking about other coffee places in the community. It's on 16th so if you're coming from the south in particular, it's easy to get to. There is street parking all around. So far on my coffee quest this is the best in Sac.

Yelp
I came to Sacramento to look around and do some photography, but first, coffee! I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try because they had fairly unique looking drinks! I couldn't really decide, so I ordered the Smoked Peach Whiskey Latte and the Passionfruit Americano. The latte was delicious, and what I loved was that the flavors, while definitely all there, were mild and din't overwhelm. The passionfruit americano was not my favorite, but that's because I apparently don't love americanos (too strong for my taste buds) - that said, the notes of the cofermented beans were definitely there and very unique. After walking around for about an hour, I decided I should get one more drink for the road, so I tried the dirty rose chai latte and it was delicious! Again, really flavorful without being overwhelming. Full disclosure, my first two drinks took a little longer because I came in during a rush (the chai latte was much faster), but the service was so lovely and they were really nice, so truly, zero complaints! Plus, this really doesn't feel like the type of place you rush in and out of! If I lived here, I could absolutely see myself getting cozy on the couch or at any of the tables, and enjoying a book! They clearly take a lot of pride in their operation, and took the time to tell me all about the beans and their process! Truly unique offerings and I do love the pride they take in everything they do. I'll definitely come back so I can try more of the unique drinks!

Yelp
Grand opening for taking over the location. Chill vibe and relaxing. Busy first morning is well deserved and earned. Friendliest service with energetic vibe here. Offering ice tea so happy (and more to come). Easy to find location. lGBT owned by Donovan and Casey. Come and enjoy!!

Yelp
Quality! I was going to get my usual iced latte or cold brew but their strawberry matcha latte caught my eye. I can taste the quality of the drink! Definitely ceremonial grade matcha. My hubby tried an iced tea and we can see they brewed it fresh. Just surprised on that they were in small hot cups for an iced drink. I almost thought she forgot to make them cold. The size of it did throw us off. Also got their raisin bagel with cream cheese. Yum! The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. I overheard the barista sharing his coffee knowledge with a customer and it was impressive. I also like that it's a dog friendly spot.

Yelp
Very smooth. Got the cold brew. I recommend if you're in the area. Staff is friendly and the owner is excited to talk about his roasting process. It's a cool vibe.

Yelp
I really love this spot! I try to come by when I can, but I don't work in downtown anymore, so I don't pop on by as much as I would like. They have a nice comfy space for if you want to work or if you're looking for a spot to hangout and chat. They do feature other small micro coffee companies as well as their own. I have recently subscribed to their coffee club and I get 2 coffee bag delivered to my house every month! I am loving the selections so far. The Ethiopoia Acacia is my fav and my hubs loves the Brazil Castilla. Not only do they have amazing coffees, but the owner, Donovan, is super sweet. The company roasts their own beans in house on a really cool zero emissions roaster. They also pay a living wage to the farmers who harvest the beans. It's a great little company.

Yelp
Parking lot? No, street parking is usually accessible and not hard to find Food options? Limited, sometimes they have popup vendors selling various foods Service? 5/5, everyone is super friendly and passionate about creating epically delicious coffee Coffee? 10/10, you really have to try it to understand how good it is. Honestly nothing like it in Sacramento or in the Bay Area from what we've found. They have flavored beans and ways to serve a cold coffee that tastes like strawberry lemonade with a weirdly perfect coalescence of coffee aftertaste. A lot of similar unique options with rotating items. The cost is just a few dollars more then what you would pay at a chain coffeeshop but more than worth the it

Yelp
Amazing Coffee with a Purpose! I recently attended an event at Anchor & Tree Coffee Roasting Co. and I'm so impressed! Founded by Donovan Albert and joined by his husband Casey this locally-owned roastery delivers delicious, perfectly roasted coffee. They use the Bellwether Coffee Roaster, which is eco-friendly and produces zero emissions so every cup is sustainable and fair-trade. Supporting them means enjoying amazing coffee while reducing your carbon footprint. Highly recommend! This keeps the focus on the coffee and sustainability.

Yelp
$9 for a coffee drink.....*eye twitch.* Granted, it's one of the specials ("the upside down" drink) and its flavor description intrigued me sooooo #YOLO. The pineapple taste in the cold foam topping was a bit too subtle to complement the rest of the drink well but otherwise a decently smooth and quite fruity coffee drink. Cute drink concept but in terms of execution not sure if it's truly worth that $9. Expanding on coffee fruitiness here, I'd say this coffee shop is *the* shop to get your locally roasted coffee beans in Sac if you're a sucker for fruity flavor notes in coffee (like I am). Right on the money on the flavor notes, especially the strawberry jam one, for the Ethiopia acacia coffee beans. Very strong beans too lol. Chill and friendly staff here. Overall I'd say this spot is worth checking out especially if you're feeling adventurous with coffee tasting.

Love this place! The owner Donovan is wonderful and so passionate. The decor is beautiful and inviting. I can't wait to try all the different beans. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
As I get older, I find joy in maximizing productivity in my life. However, with doing so, I have to be real intentional about making sure that I designate time to connect with friends. Therefore, when I saw that a new coffee shop opened in the downtown area, I reached out to a close friend of mine to see if she was available to catch up over a cup of Jane. Prior to meeting up, my friend informed me that she (a coffee connoisseur) did some research and saw that the shop uses an eco- friendly electric roasting machine...her excitement definitely rubbed off on me! Upon arrival we were greeted by two friendly employees that were serving a large party. When it was our turn, both employees were patient as we perused the many options on the "specials" menu. Based on a recommendation, I chose to order the Hippie Speedball Latte which contains 10mg of CBD. I'm not by any means a coffee connoisseur, which often leads to me chugging a cup of coffee just to reap the benefits of the caffeine. However, the flavor of the coffee was so rich and flavorful, that I sipped it slow to make it last (similar to how I would sip a delicious margarita). As a warning for folks that may be sensitive to CBD, you will definitely feel the effects! Halfway through the cup, I felt so relaxed that I could have curled up within the wicker egg chair and taken a nap. I enjoyed the simplistic, hippie vibes of Anchor and Tree Coffee Roasting, I'm already looking forward to my next visit so that I can try the Galactic Sauce Latte!

Yelp
I came in today for a baby shower and casually asked for a funky pour over. Wow oh wow, it did not disappoint. I fell in love with the first sip of my Pink Bourbon. The flavors are very complex and changed as I finished the cup. I often order pour over and get disappointed at other coffee shops because I feel like they do not do the beans justice. Honestly, I wish I could drink more coffee in the afternoon without staying up all night! Then I met Donovan, the star behind the show. From making my own pour overs for years, I can tell Donovan has mastered his craft. The right temperature, technique, and timing for the pour over made it perfect. I immediately bought the 3 seasonal beans and I can't wait to make them at home. I have been meaning to try this place for a long time but got busy with life, glad that by chance I was able to come! Ambiance wise, great little coffee shop. Although it was decorated with baby shower stuff at the time, I'm sure it's wonderful. I also love that Donovan takes care of his employees and every detail to make it eco-conscious. Got a fan from me! All the coffee enthusiasts need to try this place out :)

Yelp
Anchor and Tree Coffee Collective brick n mortar is now up n running... at 1412 16th Street in midtown Sacramento. What a great addition to the neighborhood! My latte was fantastic and the shop vibe was chill. The barista was super helpful and just really down to earth. I was telling him I am lactose intolerant and asked what type of plant base milks they have. He explained that they don't carry plant based milk. Instead they use dairy milk with A2 protein. He explained the difference about dairy milk with A1 versus A2 proteins. His explanation was simple and not a university lecture. I was able to follow even without having my morning caffeine fix yet. He stated that the milk should not upset my stomach. Hmmm being a skeptic by nature I had my doubts. But I still ordered a latte. By golly, sure enough he was right. I had no tummy issues. I ordered a peppermint bark chocolate latte. $8. It was delicious. Coffee was Peru Churupama. My palate is not sophisticated enough to distinguish the flavor profiles. I just knew that it was darn delicious! It didn't have an artificial or over exaggerated taste. It was smooth and clean tasting. And it did not upset my stomach! Final note is that they do not take cash payments. Card payments only.

Yelp
I really enjoy anchor and tree. My partner and I went there for the first time on our morning stroll and enjoyed their hand crafted espresso drinks! They hand their friendly dog in there as well so cute! As you walk in it is so well light and has some beautiful art on the wall that is for sale. They small batch roast their beans it looks like with this super cool new roasting machine, it looks like. I'm always shook by coffee prices but I'd say it was worth the price to be honest. The to two men in front were find and answered all my questions(:

Yelp
The coffee is delicious and the staff are incredibly kind and helpful. I have an allergy that keeps me from enjoying a few things on their menu and the barista helped me find something I could enjoy without settling for boring coffee. The inside of the shop is calm and inviting and the order ahead lockers are really cool.

Yelp
Kind service. we were able to stay here for a few hours with my coworkers to get some work done. It's not super quiet, take that how you prefer. Good vibes. Ordered a cortado. They serve boichick here which is a very famous bagel shop on Berkeley so the bagels are worth it. Good seating for working or meeting friends

Yelp
I was super excited to visit this new coffee collective shop with one of my good friends. I did some research before our visit and saw that this coffee roaster is eco-friendly as they use an all-electric roasting system. The first thing that I noticed when walking into the coffee shop was how the space was decorated. It was bright with lots of natural light, filled with earth- tone color decor & beautiful woodwork, tables & artwork on the walls. The space felt comfortable, quiet & relaxing. While waiting in line, I even whispered to my friend that I felt like we were ordering at a cocktail bar. I even noticed coffee shakers on top of the coffee cart! I informed one of the staff members that it was our first time and he reviewed the menus. I ended up going with one of their special drinks, the Galactic Sauce Latte. It was hand-shaken and chilled to perfection. I truly enjoyed the flavor profile and I really did take my time to sip the drink in order to savor the flavor. I loved how the drink was chilled. It was not watered down with a ton of ice. Shout out to Burnside Coffee cart for offering delicious and creative coffee drinks! I am looking forward to a return visit and I'm interested in checking out the roast -your- own coffee experience!
