We visited today for tea, because we arrived at 4:30 we were only able to order either pizza or fish and chips unless we wanted to wait until 5 to order other meals on the menu. I am so glad we were limited to these two choices as that’s the only reason I ordered fish and chips, our daughter had the chorizo woodfired pizza and every meal was outstanding. Your staff are faultless and the garden and pub are beautiful. Best pub/dinner experience I’ve had for a very very long time. Looking forward to returning.

We called in for lunch 8 days ago. The pub was chilly and we thought it was a poor menu without much choice and expensive. So we finished our pricey drinks and went elsewhere too somewhere that was warmer and more welcoming.

Room was very pleasant apart from incredibly noisy plumbing which erupted whenever someone took a shower. Staff were really nice and helpful. Food was first rate and breakfast very good. Very good value for money. Went with mates this time, will take the wife next time

The anchor is a quaint and historic English pub that serves serves traditional pub food of a decent quality. The service is good, staff friendly and it’s priced comparable to other pubs in the area. I was particularly impressed with its selection of local beers. The only downside is that it’s not the biggest pub and deservedly popular. It can therefore sometimes be difficult to find a table so I suggest booking.

Absolutely wonderful time at Anchor. Service was stellar(!), staff very friendly, food was great. There's definitely a small-town feel about The Anchor that makes you want to take a big detour to eat there even if it's not on your route.

On our North Suffolk holiday we thought The Anchor was the best pub and restaurant in our week long break. Arriving early for our booked table for four we had a pre dinner drink in the snug. The afternoon meal served in the larger bar with a roaring fire was superb. We had cod, a curry and two Venison pies which extremely tasty. The meal and drink service was efficient and timely. The atmosphere was great and all other diners seem to enjoy their meals too. Despite a few TA negative reviews we would recommend it on the strength of our experience.

Recommended by the lovely people running the ferry. They were right. A lovely balance between characterful pub and pub based restaurant. We sat in the bar; coal open fire and punters with their dogs. We drank Adnams and had late lunch. Perfect!

What a lovely restaurant. Food was fabulous and service with waiters and waitresses who want to give you a great time. I had the line caught seabass with chirizo stew. A variety of flavours that was perfect. My dad who can be difficult to please as he is a tradiotionalist loved the fishcakes. Great decor and ambience our favourite place to eat. We stayed in southwold so just a 20min drive.

Yelp
One of the nicest and friendliest pubs I have been in for quite some time. OK, remember I have never been in this pub before. I ordered a drink at the bar and went off to the garden area with my partner while we awaited our friends. Needing another drink I went to the bar to be asked, 'same again?' Now that IS customer service. My daughter arrived and a few more drinks went down too well. Time to order food. Nice menu, not too many items so easy to choose. However, there is a specials board by the bar. The usual procedure is used here. Order at the bar, on table no. and pay. We ordered our food of POLENTA, GOAT'S CHEESE, MUSHROOM AND WOOD-ROASTED VEGETABLES (for my veggie daughter), PORK BELLY, MUSTARD MASH, CHOUCROUTE, BACON LENTILS (because he believes he saw the pig yesterday so it was fresh LOL) and for us two, CRAB LINGUINE (unfortunately they had run out of lobster, next time we will get it). To start I ordered 6 West Mersea oysters for two of us because they are harvested just up the road from where we live. The oysters arrived with a fantastic, unusual, shallot and sherry vinegar accompaniment. Beautiful. In fact the whole meal was wonderful. Especially, because of a nice day, eating Al Fresco. Finishing, the girls had delicious ice creams while I enjoyed a delicious cheese platter of KIRKHAM'S LANCASHIRE, COLSTON BASSETT BLUE STILTON, MRS TEMPLE'S COPYS CLOUD, KEEN'S MATURE CHEDDAR with chutney, grapes, celery and, of course, crackers. Served by an extremely pleasant Czech girl who saw to all our needs. Loved the behind the bar banter by the two young guys. The whole pub was a delight. OK, a little trek for us but we will be back.

Yelp
The Anchor at Walberswick is a very beautiful and cosy Pub & Diner where my wife and I had dinner on Thursday to celebrate my birthday.  They served a delicious fish platter as a starter and we had chosen a nice New Zealand Riesling from their good wine card.  Up until then everything has been almost perfect, very friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere. But then something happened which is an absolute no-go. I had a fishcake as main and when I have taken the first bite it was so unbelievable hot that I have burnt my tongue, it was so terrible. Even now, almost 24 hours later, it still hurts. I can't drink a coffee without pain. I guess that a very inexperienced person in the kitchen heated the cake too long in a microwave. It's the only explanation for this extrem temperature, I never experienced this before (and I hope will never again).  This is the reason why there should be a ban for microwaves in kitchens. An US American would have sued them for damages. Nevertheless I rate three stars because it is a lovely inn and I hope they read it and will change something that this will never happen again.

Yelp
Stay one night here in their lovely eco sheds. A little over priced perhaps considering what you got. Lovely place to stay with easy access to the beach (less than 7m walk). Dinner consisted of Oysters (starter), Fish Cakes and chips. The oyster were exceptional, best I've tasted. The fish cakes were lovely. I was impressed to see not just wine, but beer and ciders being paired with menu items. The cheese board was very good too. Service lacked the little personal touch. The dinner staff seemed a bit rushed and short (but not rude). I had a full English for breakfast, nothing out of the ordinary but still nice. Despite the detractors, I would go again. The place is charming, but then again so is the county.

Yelp
This was raved about by people who had stayed at the accomodation we were in. It definitely is worth a visit. The food was lovely, the outside space well kept, and the staff very friendly. We went with our baby girl, and inevitebly she needed changing. The facilities were well stocked with wipes and nappies, so if you were caught short of supplies, it would have certainly been a huge help. This attention to detail certainly elevated it's rating for me. It's certainly worth the trip out if staying at one of the other main seaside towns.

Yelp
Finally someone got it right. Profesional service, and good staff. Both wines and Food are great, very well priced, not many people have yet to discover in this area that f you are in the Service Industry "you have to give service", and they do this very well. Always recommended.

Yelp
Lovely little pub in Walderswick with very simple but tastey menu and friendly service. Definitely worth a visit and nicer than anything in Southwold nearby.
