Anchor Bar - Best Buffalo Original Chicken Wings Sports Bar & Restaurant

So I've heard a lot of bad things about this place but I had to try it for myself. I think people are being too hard. All of our food was great. I did go at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday so it wasn't busy at all... we did still have a bit of a wait for our food, but nothing in the place says it's a fast food establishment! I would compare their traditional wings to Buffalo Wild Wings, but their boneless wings are very different and I think I like them better than BWW.

We've been here twice in the past 5 days, being from Buffalo I had to compare it to the real stuff back home. I LOVED the cheese and pepperoni pizza we got, the crust is light and buttery, better than home. What I did not love was the Beef on Weck, the "Kaiser Roll" was way too soft (pretty sure it was a hamburger bun) and did not nearly have enough salt or caraway seeds on it, plus I had to ask the waitress for horseradish. Another thing worth noting is the pricing for pizza. We wanted cheese and pepperoni ($15.99 + $2.99 one topping), but they have an all meat pizza for $18.99. Doesn't seem like that would make any sense, asked the waitress if I could substitute the other meats for more pepperoni and I landed up getting less pepperoni :( Overall you can attribute a lot of the problems to being new, but it's definitely a MUST TRY if you're in the area!

My parents are from upstate N.Y. so they know authentic buffalo wings. They told me about this place when it opened up as they familiar with it. I was excited to try it because I love good wings. I ordered carry out but I had a wing or two before I left so I could try them while they were still hot. The wings were fried crispy the way I like them. However the sauce wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping. Kind of bland actually. I ordered the "original" wing sauce so they gave me medium. I was not expecting them to have such a large selection of different sauces either. Almost seemed like another large chain wing that has a large variety of sauces. That was a surprise and took away from the authenticity to me, but I would go back and try some of the other flavors. All in all the packaging is fancy the wings are crispy but I'll need to try some other sauces to find one that offers a bit more flavor. I'd come back if in the area.

Having been to the original restaurant in Buffalo, I was skeptical of their effort at turning it into a chain. The owners have definitely put effort into their investment, but it lacks the real soul of an America style restaurant. Definitely no vibe like the real one, which I guess is impossible to replicate in a chain. The wings WERE AWESOME tho. And awesome service. Great job! The only big issue I have is that its TOO EXPENSIVE. This type of food should not be priced so high.

Awesome chicken! Have ate here a few times now and have loved it Everytime! The flavor in the chicken is awesome, it is always juicy and tatse fresh! Also there is a lot of history with this place and many famous celebrities have been here and endorse it! If you already have the you should go!

I came in tonight and got the Chicken Wrap, and it was amazing! My friends got the White Pizza, which will not disappoint with the amount of cheese, the steak bites and the chipoltle bbq, all of which were an easy 5 stars. We topped it off with the “big chocolate cake” which wasn’t has big as they made it seem, but it’s rich enough to compensate. Pictured is the white pizza size small, it’s the only dish that wasn’t demolished right away.

I'm from Buffalo where it seemed like the wings were bigger but I was a kid then. Food and sauces were tasty! Wait is still a little long but they're new so things are improving well enough to give a 4.5 star review. If you like BW's or Wing Stop you're going to love this place.

I’ve been here over an hour and my 10 wings still haven’t come out. This place is dead. Wth is going on in the kitchen? Edit: the people that sat and ordered after us just received their burgers and wings and apps before I got my 10 wings. Still haven’t received them. Been an 1 and 20mins now.
