LA’s Best Iced Coffees And Cold Brews

"Andante, the coffee shop and roastery on Beverly in Fairfax, serves some of the most potent cold brew around, which is ideal when it’s 6pm and your boss is showing no signs of signing off anytime soon. They’ve also got locations in Echo Park and Downtown LA." - brett keating

Meet 10 Of LA’s Best Asian-Owned Cafes

"Andante Coffee Roasters has been a longtime favorite in the local third-wave coffee scene, with its original location on Beverly Blvd right across from the traffic hazard we call Erewhon. Steve Hyun, Tommy Kim, and Jacob Park took over this location in 2012, and have since grown the business to Echo Park and DTLA, each maintaining the industrial minimal aesthetic. All of the coffee is locally roasted in Koreatown. Order this: The sweet cold brew or a honey lavender latte." - with warm welcome, leslie yeh

Constantly busy throughout the day, but I loved the spot and the ambiance. As always, nothing beat free flow of natural lighting, and despite the fact that I couldn’t spot any power plug, there are tables suitable for working. Prolly also for the best so people don’t stay for too long! I got their Andante, which was their house specialty cold brew sweetened with maple syrup and got its creaminess from the cream top. Smart idea for adding that pinch of pink salt on top, giving that fun mix of sweet and salty. In love!

Google
This coffee shop is a hidden gem! The chic and simple design creates a cozy yet modern vibe that’s perfect for relaxing or catching up on work. Their commitment to quality is evident in their in-house coffee roasting, which fills the space with a heavenly aroma. I tried the mocha, and it was hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly balanced with rich chocolate and smooth espresso. A must-visit for coffee lovers looking for a place that combines style, quality, and great taste!

Google
Extremely overpriced, bad air conditioning, large open space with limited seating. I think they’re trying to be hip with the large, empty open space but it’s not working. Did I mention overpriced. $7-8 for very basic drinks. VERY uncomfortable seating. Hard and uncomfortable seats and concrete ledges. No outlets to charge your laptop. Zero atmosphere. Hard pass.

Google
I often swing by here to grab a coffee before going to see a movie at AMC Grove in the afternoon and have always enjoyed my visits. Big shoutouts to Juno, the barista who is super nice, attentive and efficient, and always makes a great cup of coffee, whether it's a straight cappuccino or some of the special drinks. The shop has an airy space with plain walls, huge windows and high ceiling, although sometimes I feel like it's too empty and doesn't have the warm, convivial vibe that I usually look forward to in a shop. Fortunately there is usually some warm afternoon sunlight coming in from the big street windows.

Google
I had a hot, dirty chai, and it was absolutely spot on—rich, smooth, and with just the right amount of spice. The place isn’t huge, but it’s well laid out, has a loo, and the customer service was first-rate. It's a good spot to get a bit of work done with a laptop, though seating is somewhat limited. All in all, it's well worth a visit!

Google
If LA was the type of market were the best coffee wins, everyone would be going here. They roast it in the same room they serve it, like all the best coffee spots in the world. Drinks are executed perfectly and revolve around the coffee, Unlike many shops that revolve around the additives. If you are looking for a true coffee experience, something like you would find at Café Trieste in San Francisco or in actual Trieste, this is it.

Google
Been living in LA for 8 years. Andante the best in the area for me. Great coffee, reliable, friendly and no lines!

Google
Such sincere and efficient service is sorely lacking. That's apparent when you visit a place like Andante. It's an elegantly rustic place where you're served delicious coffee promptly. I saw a couple homeless individuals shown care by the staff. And a steady stream of regulars quietly come and go as they headed off to their busy days. A nice place to start (or break).

Yelp
Cute coffee shop. Needed to get coffee quick and wanted to try a new spot and Andante delivered! Appreciated the quick service!

Yelp
Torn between two and three stars, but decided on three stars because the cashier was friendly, the atmosphere was clean, drink was pleasant, and they have a nice bathroom. Popped in 1st time, and ordered the chai tea latte over ice. Asked for light ice, and my beverage came only 3/4 full. I stood there over my beverage, as I wasn't sure it was ready. The man who made the beverage, proceeded to tell me that the lids and all of the fixings were to my left. That said, I felt that was really tacky and unprofessional. Never ever have I been to an establishment that doesn't fill your drink up to the top because you ask for light ice. Needless to say, I won't be returning. $6.75 for what would be equivalent to a double shot of alcohol at the bar. I took two sips and I was done!

Yelp
The aesthetic was super unique. The staff were super friendly and very helpful with drink recommendations! The latte was solid and would get again, also would try something new too.

Yelp
On the hunt for the best matcha lattes in LA, I came across Andante. Store wasn't too busy when I went on a weekend morning, and I found the seating inside really beautiful with plenty of natural lighting. I opted for a matcha latte (sweetened), and it came out fairly quickly. Personally, I found the matcha latte a bit overly sweet and wished I could've either made it unsweetened or had it adjusted in sweetness. Not the most-amazing matcha latte I've had, but it did the trick. Ambiance inside was lovely, though, and I'd return to stay a bit longer!

Yelp
I've come here a couple times and I really like this spot! While I wish there were more seating & outlets, this is still a quiet place to get some work done. My boyfriend got a Genmaicha Tea, which is poured warm and then ice is added into it. It has a little honey in it to make it sweet, and it reminds me of a seaweed-y, barley-y, taste. Musubis were the first thing I thought of at first sip. It's not bad and something I would definitely like to drink at home. Their signature drink the Andante -- IT. IS. SO. GOOD. Its smooth, and creamy, and while I was looking for a chocolate-y drink and this ISN'T a chocolate-y drink, it fulfills that taste that I was looking for. Does that make sense? LOL. Street parking only, so you might have to do a little driving to find the right spot, but it's not terrible. Large windows, small & limited tables and chairs, no outlets. If I'm in the area, I've absolutely stopped by for the Andante drink and recommend this spot! Whether you're working solo or meeting a friend, I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Yelp
Clean, sleek coffee shop near the grove. Unique drinks and flavors, on the pricey side.
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
The best coffee shops are the quietest ones, therefore this place isn't the greatest. I don't want to hear piano man blaring in the am. Also 6.50 for a small vanilla latte? Keep the change pal. It was good I just probably wouldn't come back. Everyone else in the neighborhood will tho. Service was fast at least.
google avatar

Yelp
Exploring Matcha Drinks in LA | The matcha latte just tasted like oat milk with a very very slight matcha flavor...
google avatar

Nishat H.

Yelp
Beware: no outlets here!!! Reviews said there were but they seem to be outdated from years ago.
google avatar

Keith H.

Yelp
If I'm ever in the mood for coffee while in the Fairfax District/near the Grove, Andante is my go-to. They serve great coffee and have ample seating, with a sunlight-filled and airy interior. The service is efficient, and during my last visit, I though the employee was helpful in explaining the different pastries available. Most recently, I tried a raspberry pastry that was flaky and lightly studded with fruit inside. The Spanish latte was not overly sweet despite the addition of condensed milk, and I've never left Andante with a bad coffee purchase. If I lived in the neighborhood, I could see this being a great place to read or get some writing done.
google avatar

Roberta D.

Yelp
Pretty straight forward coffee shop. 4 stars for the sweet cold brew. Prices are pretty good compared to most LA cafes. We came at 3pm on a Sunday and all the pastries were already gone. Good place to grab coffee to-go and walk around or head to pan pacific

Yelp
Came here in the late morning on a Saturday. Seemed like there was a lot of parking in the surrounding areas. Short and sweet menu. I got a Vanilla Latte and it was delicious. They also are dog friendly and has little treats at the front. Very aesthetically pleasing with a minimalistic style. The two people working were very friendly and helpful as well. Made sure the coffee was to my liking before I left. Overall 5/5. I plan on coming back as the coffee was exceptionally good... the two handsome baristas are a plus as well. hah! Thanks guys.

Yelp
loved the sweetened matcha latte here! we got it with oat milk and with whole milk and both were great. def recommend

Shayna E.

Yelp
Nice community coffee shop! I got the matcha and thought it was good, not the best you'll ever had, but better than a lot of other places. Lots of seating available and free wifi!

Kendall M.

Yelp
Very kind, helpful service and delish coffee! I had an iced cappuccino with light sweetness and it was very well balanced.

Yelp
- Locale Destination - It's on Beverly Blvd and N Stanley Ave in Fairfax. Ambiance: modern, minimal, airy. Quiet for study with coffee. Menu: coffee and some pastries, other drinks. Very minimal. Service: quick Parking: street parking - Gluttony Expedition - Cortado: very very bitter with very lingering after taste. Light body. Bad. Cappuccino: very bitter, not a froth milk - steamed milk. Barista is clearly unskilled. Bad. - Conqueror's Deduction - Burnt bitter coffee, unskilled barista. Other baristas might be better than the guy today, but his coffee was not good - despite they're a coffee roaster. I give here a benefit of doubt because I know barista makes a big difference in coffee quality - even "Gnarwhal coffee co" has a barista who doesn't create good coffee unlike others. In the sense, Blue bottle offers amazing consistency throughout the branches, which is very hard thing to do and admirable. Anyway, I didn't like the burnt coffee at all. Coffee comparisons #38 (exclude branches): cappuccino w whole milk (though I often try cortado), updated 3/17/22 1. Gnarwhal coffee co. 2. Blue bottle 3. Coffee Memes 4. Cognoscenti coffee

Yelp
Came here around 10AM on a Wednesday and it was a bit busier than I would have expected with most tables occupied, but I didn't have to wait. I bought the Stanley (espresso, maple syrup, and oat milk), which was delicious -- strong in coffee flavor and not too sweet. I also picked up a bag of their espresso roast beans which I tried this morning. They have a really pleasant nutty aroma, and the flavor notes of honey and dark chocolate are spot on (but I didn't really pick up citrus). Overall I'd say they have great coffee, and I definitely plan on coming back.

Parth S.

Yelp
I had an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and it was delicious. Their espresso shots are very well extracted, and the syrups do not overpower the coffee itself. The ambiance is nice and relaxing, although a little sparse and not cozy. Seating is fairly limited, too. The big negative was the lack of any glassware. All drinks are served in to go cups, and that just sucks when you want to sit in a nice spot and enjoy a cup of coffee. I highly recommend the coffee if you are walking by!
google avatar

Jason E.

Yelp
The shop is never too busy and quite relaxing. The cold brew, espresso and lattes are amazing. Service is always friendly. Great spot in a great location.
google avatar

Shahriar H.

Yelp
Poor Service. Ordered one of their seasonal drinks, and all I tasted was syrup. I kindly told them that I didn't like the drink and it's really strong in the syrup, and requested if possible to change the drink to something else. The response was "I would have to charge you."

Yelp
This coffee shop is gorgeous! Beautifully understated, I'm sure it'd be lovely to spend time in and work on your essay, sketches, or what have you. The coffee itself is good as well-- fairly typical LA pricing (I believe my cold brew was $5.50), but the not-too-acidic-but-perfectly-bodied coffee is solid in comparison to other places. The folks working there were extremely quick + friendly as well~ Worth your time, all things considered.

Yelp
Never do this without first trying to work with management, but wow -- Been here a couple times before and experience was great. Today, I went in at 2:45pm to order two lattes. The person in line in front of me tried to order a latte and the barista at the counter told her the espresso machine was off, so she left and went across the street to erewhon. I then stepped up and asked if the espresso machine was broken. The barista said "no, it's just off." I asked them to turn it on to make 2 lattes. She said "no, we're not going to do that. We're closing soon." I asked when they close and they said 3pm. We stared at each other in confusion and then I went across the street to Erewhon, bought my lattes, walked home and wrote this review. You're a coffee shop. Serve coffee during working hours or close earlier.

Yelp
Great coffee and nicest staff. I always stop by before taking the pup to pan pacific. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Morris T.

Yelp
My wife and I always make it a point to stop by Andante before starting our day. It never misses! Coffee and Matcha Latte are amazing. Employees are always helpful and patient. Small and simple space, which I enjoy. Coffee isn't expensive if you factor in the area and quality. I enjoy the feel inside where people are chatting it up and enjoying the day. 100% recommend this spot to all!
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
We made the switch from Verve to Andante a couple weeks ago, and I'm so glad! I had visited once last year when shopping at a crafts shop next door and had been meaning to try it when their indoor seating was back. Now that we live in the area, we gave it another go. It's honestly the perfect neighborhood spot. It's sunny and a gorgeous interior, the espresso is the best in the area, the almond croissants are SOOO GOOD, pour over selection is prime (love their Ethiopian), and the staff is always great (and fashionable lol always get outfit envy coming here). I highly recommend giving this cafe a try.

Yelp
Hosanna and Jay, great customer service! Excellent coffee. Coming back again. Beautiful place and service was quick. Thank you!

Yelp
I didn't have the best experience here. I took my dog to the groomers on a Saturday morning every early. Went for few laps at pan pacific and was looking for a nice treat. I walked past this place looked on Yelp, and it had great ratings. It wasn't packed which was great and the menu had a selection of milk alternative coffees. When I got up the register, I immediately felt like I was bothering the female cashier when I asked for a suggestion of which drink was sweeter between 2 choices. I receive a dull response. "They have the same amount of syrup" I was like ok. Then online I thought I had saw food options on the menu but when I was inside I didn't. When I politely asked is this all the food options you have? and pointed at the baked good display. I received a "yea". At this point I just ordered a ham and cheese pastry and a dirty horchata latte. Drink was good. I was given the wrong pastry, which one of the guys did end up replacing. Most likely won't be going back. The female cashier needs come customer service training. Ps. I checked the photos and the food pics were from 6-8 years ago and since covid things have changed.
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
This place is coffee shop heaven. There is never a line, and yet the place always has a good amount of people in it. The baristas are all sweethearts and make the fastest lattes in all of LA (I swear, from ordering to receiving it's about 1 minute). The interior is calm and beautiful. Also their coffee is my favorite and makes me feel my best. Get the Stanley. 10/10
google avatar

Angie J.

Yelp
I love me a sweet latte--but not too sweet. So they recommended the Stanley, and it is perfect. Great flavor, creaminess from the oat milk, and perfectly not-too-sweet. A lot of cafes I go to make drinks I like, but each time, it tastes a little different. At Andante, they've made it exactly the same each time, and I have not been disappointed. Great job, guys. I will be back to drink some more of my latte as I go over my lines for my class :)

Brett Z.

Yelp
They roast the beans right there in the store! Great coffee, great service. A little pricey. What do you expect for what you get and where you're getting it Few places to plug your laptop in. Maybe that's on purpose. They close early, like real coffee shop hours. This is not Starbucks. Thank god. All the doors say "use other door". I walked to the front and then to the side door and back again twice before I realized which door they meant me to use. Somehow more confusing than if they just wrote "push" on the good door. Whatever. This place is great.
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
Great place to get a good coffee fix. Stopped in for a early afternoon latte and was quite pleased. It's uber casual and filled with the usual laptop set. Lots of table space and not cramped. Everything is as you'd expect at a coffeehouse, but the coffee is a step up in quality from a usual chain (Starbucks, Peets, etc.) Service was very friendly and quick.
google avatar

Krystal H.

Yelp
My bf plays at pan pacific park every weekend. Some days I accompany him. One day I was craving a light breakfast of avo toast and a latte Hopped on yelp and discovered this place was across the way I got their pickled onion and egg avo toast and a honey latte w/almond milk SO good I was hooked. It is definitely a great fast bfast option

Corinne D.

Yelp
I'm hesitant to leave anything less than a five star review as this is our local and we love their coffee! It's really the best I have had in LA. There are some issues though. Most recently, a loyalty program was introduced. You earn points towards free coffee! We were so excited! Coffees here are not cheap, but we'd rather give our business to a local store with an exceptional product. However, over the last week, the system being used for points has been down every single time! We earned no new points and our two free coffees are yet to be redeemed. The staff aren't particularly helpful either... blaming the company that made the software and telling us we can't use our freebies. I am getting rather over it. Many other businesses can figure out an incentive program with ease. Your regulars are everything to your business. Do the right thing by them!
google avatar

Kamilla M.

Yelp
That almond croissant with strawberry, omg the best I didn't like my vanilla latte tho.
google avatar

Mel T.

Yelp
Favorite local coffee spot to walk to! The baristas are always friendly, the decor is SO cute- minimal and tasteful, and the coffee is the best! They're an actual roaster too so the beans are as fresh as can be! My husband and I walk here at least twice a week for their iced vanilla oat latte and they have delicious pastries too except they sell out pretty quickly. I wish they stayed open a little bit later so I can get my afternoon fix of their matcha which is also good!

Leo L.

Yelp
Really good coffee. But the manager treats his employees terrible. It's almost abusive. He needs to be kind. This is not okay behavior. I hope he sees this and changes his attitude.

Andy C.

Yelp
Service was rude and not helpful. Coffee was below average and over priced. Ambiance was stale. Do not waste your time or money on this place.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
this is my neighborhood coffee spot, and it's the best coffee in the area. any coffee drink on the menu is very solid and the croissant pastries are delicious - always super crispy and flakey. I've gotten the matcha and chai before which I thought were just okay, so I'd stick to coffee.
google avatar

Anabell C.

Yelp
I ordered the matcha latte. Plain and simple. It was sweet and delicious. They have other foods in their fridge and baked goods. There is indoor seating and it seems like a chill place to meet up with friends!
google avatar

Ernest M.

Yelp
Nice quiet spot for online work or for school. Inside: There are plugs for phones and laptops. This is LA so people are on the laptops working in the hollywood business or online business that they have. I had the honey latte half sweetened and it was perfect for me. Parking is a pain but luckily we came on a monday and it was right in front of the coffee spot. It is only one hour parking. So make sure to refill. parking: street only verdict: coffee and chill

Jessica D.

Yelp
Stopped by this afternoon for a quick bite and drink and was pleased with the service of my barista. He recommended me drinks based on what I like and I was not disappointed. The iced matcha latte with oat milk was really well made but just a little pricey. Would come back for the quality and chill environment.
google avatar

Ralph H.

Yelp
This spot is perfect so grab and go coffee or quick snack and coffee visits. I have been coming to this place for years now and they never disappoint. The coffee here is great with prices being reasonable. They have plenty of inside sitting and are always very friendly. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but if you look in street you normally can find something close by. My go-to is the Latin-latte which has just a hint of sweetness to it. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.
google avatar

Patrick T.

Yelp
An Iced Cappuccino with Foam is not so easy to come by in a lot of LA area coffee specialty shops as some of the baristas frown while others simply look very confused. I asked and the young guy with wild hair behind the counter said it's not typical but he'll make what his customer wants, and with those words he won me over. Cheers.. my kind of barista. The place is located across the street from Erewon and down the block from CBS Studios. Inside there's an industrial vibe with a behemoth coffee roaster at work.
google avatar

Yoojin S.

Yelp
Dog friendly cafe! There's a lot of people walking their dogs in this area and many came in and out for coffee here. Was thrilled to see lots of dogs at my short stay here. Friendly staff and the latte was delicious. My mom said it was one of the best she's had! Perfectly smooth, topped with cute latte art. Seating's a bit limited though and thought the small tables were too cramped together (it was awkward brushing by past neighbors getting up from the table).
google avatar

Ellie T.

Yelp
I studied at Andante a Coffee Roasters today and got an americano for $4 which is the standard pricing for coffee in the area. Coffee is pretty solid! Apparently they roast their own beans. Great cafe to study at. I love the chill music playing in the background. No one was talking and everyone was working on something so it was very conducive to studying! Tried the Huckleberry donut with maple glaze (unfortunately ate it so fast, I forgot to get a picture of it! I'm so sad!), but it was LIFE CHANGING. It was fresh, moist and not overly sweet. Parking is street parking (2 hours free), I was lucky to find one right next to the shop! Free wifi that is unfortunately a little laggy, but it's doable.
google avatar

Saul M.

Yelp
Superb Zen coffee My regular when I want to spend serous money for a delicious and well prepared Americano or Brazil decaf.......it's worth going just to watch the pour

S Q.

Yelp
The Stanley cappuccino is great. I would suggest adding cushions on the cement platform and laptop outlets. Great coffee. Great service.
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
A good place! Although I'm not a coffee drinker, I have a serious hot chocolate addiction! And their hot chocolate was very good...flavorful and not overly sweet (in a good way). In addition to the typical coffee drinks, they also offer freshly pressed juices. The interior is simple and very minimal, but they have both indoor and outdoor seating. If you're in the area and craving some coffee, I'd recommend going to Andante Coffee Roasters!

Nancy C.

Yelp
This was my go-to on a daily basis for all my caffeine needs. Since they hired new baristas, the quality of beverages has declined. Meaning the portions are inconsistent, parts unbalanced or not mixed at all, temperature off and not as friendly as the previous crew: Slight attitude when I politely ask to go lite on the milk (previously 5 days straight of mostly milk lukewarm lattes). Manager straight yelled at a hobo who was in there asking for food, meanwhile new baristas dress like they just rolled out of bed. Not a vibe I want to tip $ on. Step it back up guys! I miss you!
