Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht

"How did it strike you on arrival?Housed in a former public library, the blocky building that is the Andaz Amsterdam sticks out among the gabled canal houses of the Prinsengracht. There's also no reception area—hotel staff greet you and escort you to one of three standing desks in the lobby for check-in. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Alice in Wonderland meets Dutch traditionalism inside the 122 guest rooms by renowned local designer Marcel Wanders. Features include bright yellow tulip-inspired chairs and walls decked out in Delftware-like blue and white tiles, all combined with lots of negative space. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies?Open the desk drawer and reveal a complimentary minibar with non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. Food: Worth it?Bluespoon Restaurant & Bar does on-site dining. Choose from three, four, and five-course with optional wine pairings. The dishes by executive chef Sander Bierenbroodspot often contain Dutch ingredients, such as the Old Amsterdam cheese in the gnocchi with truffle and egg or shrimp served with halibut, mashed potato, and roasted onion. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whatever stuck with you.Complimentary wine hour takes place in the library. Bottom line: worth it, and why?The Andaz stands out from other local hotels with the one-of-a-kind design by Wanders. You also can't beat the canal-side location." - Meredith Bethune

"Once Amsterdam ’s main public library, the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht looks like a 1970s block on the outside. But inside, renowned Dutch designer Marcel Wanders has transformed the space into a whimsical and grown-up homage to Alice in Wonderland . Decorated with oversized furnishings (including Wanders’ signature Tulip chairs and modern twists on chandeliers), Delft blue tilework and brocade upholstery (references to historic Dutch style), and avant-garde artwork, the design hotel hardly feels like part of a chain, even one as hip as the Andaz. Instead, with its serene herb garden full of quirky topiaries, a checkerboard mural, and chess-piece statues, the canalside hotel channels a fresh take on Amsterdam. But don’t worry, authentic Amsterdam is still out there—take the free bicycles for a spin along the waterways, and know that free snacks await you back in your room."

"Like so many of Amsterdam’s most impressive canal-side properties, the building currently occupied by this whimsical Marcel Wanders-designed hotel had a past life—in this case, as the city library. While one might be inclined to spend all their time in the dizzyingly beautiful lobby, the kitted out guestrooms—with their ample breathing room and generous views—offer a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle outside. While the knowledgeable concierge team can point you in the direction of many incredible restaurants, the on-site Bluespoon and its namesake bar both deserve a visit. Same goes for the spa and lovely gardens. "

A great spot!! We were impressed with the contemporary style of the property. The room is well appointed, yet lacked some of the niceties we were used to such as a cozy mattress! The interior viewing room, called the Atrium view looks out into the interior bar area just like the old Holiday Inns of yesteryear! The location is primo and the food in the bar was excellent! The breakfast spot was good as well. However, be aware, if you get a refill of coffee they charge you for each tiny little bit they poor in your cup! The room did have an interesting sink, where it is in the middle of the room and the mirror was not in front of the sink! Making for a messy beard trim! Cool vibe though! We did struggle a bit with coordinating transports etc with the hotel and they were delayed in checking us in, despite having a hard fast time of 3:00Pm for their check in time. In the end though, everyone was very helpful.

Stayed at Andaz for a girls' trip (3 nights) in March 2025. Got assigned a room at the top floor with unique roof windows (with automatic blinds). Spacious and quiet. Location of hotel is excellent, quiet yet close to many attractions. Hotel decor is chic, modern and welcoming. Hotel Bar serves some great drinks and Happy Hour tastings was fun and generous. Breakfast is very tasty and service overall is excellent. Would certainly recommend Andaz Amsterdam!

Google
Perfect location for our two night stay. We had never been to Amsterdam before, and were using it as a gateway for return to USA. The ambiance of the hotel was amazing - so much so that this was the first hotel we ever stayed in where my wife actually took photos of each wall in the toilet closet! ||||There really is no place to change in private - the shower is in an enclosed closet as is the toilet. But this trip was for our 50th - so no issue for us. If you are shy, there is plenty of room in the toilet room. ||||Minutes from Ann Frank house which was a focus for us to see. Easy to get a canal cruise, go shopping in funky shops, eat on canal side cafes.

I took the train from Paris to Amsterdam on June 30th and arrived in the morning. This is my second time staying in the hotel. The service is outstanding and the employees are so nice to deal with. The rooms are beautiful and very creative, different to every other hotel I have stayed at. The morning breakfast was very nice and overall the experience staying at this hotel was outstanding.

This hotel is beautiful! However, the lack of customer service instantly makes you want to check out. The beauty quickly faded as we moved through the stay. Anything asked of staff was forgotten and/or completed at the pace of a snail. I've never been to a hotel where the staff was so nonchalant about everything. It was pretty frustrating, and I was not the only one experiencing that. Other guests also spoke about how long items were taking or not coming at all. In the restaurant, the staff would forget about you and not remember to come back for orders until you waved them down. We spent the entire stay "thinking" for the staff. I expected the staff to know my needs or have suggestions, and they never did. Honestly, this was my after-cruise hotel, and if I knew what I know now, I would have stayed at my pre-cruise hotel, Tivoli. The customer service was an A+ at Tivoli and was about a D- at Andaz Amsterdam. Please do better.

It was simply the best Hyatt stay we’ve experienced in 30 yrs of being Hyatt customers. What a fun hotel, everything was uplifting and beautiful, the best of the best features, comfort everywhere (bed and pillow included!) - a true vacation! I don’t think paying more in a luxury hotel nearby would’ve really been worth it. We enjoyed the smaller size hotel, down to earth treatment, and reasonable price. We are very happy we chose this hotel for our vacation.

Google
Absolutely fantastic stay! I loved that the hotel truly felt unique and boutique- no generic hotel rooms here! The front desk staff arranged a phenomenal boat tour that picked me up right outside the hotel. They also provided me great local restaurant recommendations. I will absolutely be back and recommend it to all friends and family traveling to Amsterdam!

Yelp
We stayed here with our family during the summer trip and the hotel was wonderful! The location is very convenient; we can walk to all the stores and restaurants nearby. Love the details of city information/map in the bathroom, can't also forget the relaxing canal view! Trang and Alex at the front desk were accommodating and very friendly, the services here are amazing! We'll be back soon this Fall due to this great experiences.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at this beautiful hotel located in the heart of Amsterdam. It was walking distance to key restaurants (one of our favorites was the 4 min walk to Fabel Friet) and sites which helped us avoid having to uber/metro everywhere. The check in and check out processes were very easy. The lady at the front (I wish I wrote down her name) was accommodating and took the time to explain the amenities in the hotel and in our room. Loved that we were able to get a complimentary Jenever cocktail every day between 5-6pm. The lobby was clean and classy. We got upgraded to a garden view room. Located in the corner of the second building, we thankfully didn't hear any noise in the hallway. The room was very spacious with high ceilings, a large closet, and enough floor space to place 2 large check in bags. The complimentary mini bar included 2 bottles each of still and sparkling water, beers, juice, and couple of snacks. We loved the high windows, though there was one part that we couldn't seal all the way to keep the light from waking us up in the morning. The bathroom counter had a double-sided mirror with LED lighting that faced the sink and bed, which gave my husband and I enough space to get ready at the same time. We appreciate that the shower door actually closed all the way, and was spacious with waterfall shower head. They provided lots of toiletries and didn't need to ask for anything extra. The hotel had a rooftop terrace, gym, and sauna which I unfortunately didn't get to enjoy due to lack of time. We had a wonderful stay here at the Andaz and my only complaint is that I wish we stayed longer. We would definitely stay here again if ever we come back to Amsterdam!

Yelp
Why 5 stars? Because this hotel was super classy from start to finish. --- --- --- We only stayed here one night, but really enjoyed it. The hotel is incredibly modern, from the lobby to the rooms themselves. The bathroom was a bit funky, with the counter just essentially being an island with a free standing mirror, a few feet from the bed. Think open kitchen, but instead it's an open vanity. When we arrived, the concierge offered us coffee and any other drink we wanted. She also offered us the opportunity to purchase a canal cruise through them, which we ended up doing and really enjoying. Later that night, we asked them about calling a cab for our departure the next morning, and they did so immediately. Our cab was waiting for us at the exact moment we asked for it and it was a very nice Mercedes. They even offered us another drink on our way out. My only small complaint is that I lowered the temperature a lot in the room because I like to sleep cold, but it definitely didn't seem to match the thermostat, as both my wife and I woke up sweating. And I guess one other thing is that the very low portable shower head was kind of odd, but I'm sure I'd get used to it. We really loved the location too, as it seemed to be just outside of the hectic craziness and more in a neighborhood for locals. Great location, amazing service, a comfortable bed and modern design: all the things I hope for in a hotel!

Yelp
Artistic and creative, the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is a wonderful hotel that's centrally located in Amsterdam. The property is on the smaller side, but offers a more private feel. The hotel is also located near the "Nine Streets" a very popular shopping area filled with boutiques and small eateries. As a Hyatt Globalist, we had complimentary breakfast. Breakfast was served in the lobby restaurant and included a spread as well as one item from the a la carte menu. Everything was delicious. If you're looking for a luxurious and creative hotel check out this property. Yelp
We stayed here and the beginning and end of our Netherlands trip (3 nights the first time and 2 nights the second time. Overall I really enjoyed the property. First, the location is perfect for a base to walk around Amsterdam. Pretty much almost any museum, restaurant, bar, etc is within a 10 mint walk (20 at most). The nearest tram station is not far, and the hotel will gladly call you a taxi if you need one. Second, the staff was friendly and helpful. Anything we needed they assisted with. Third, most rooms have very nice views. Our first room had a garden view. We were upgraded to a larger room and while I was hoping for a canal view upgrade it was still a nice view (plus we saw the canal every day on our walks - so the garden was a nice change). The last 2 nights we had a canal view - the room was a little smaller but we had the canal view we wanted. Fourth, the property is nicely done. The garden in the middle of the property is nice to relax in on a nice day. The restaurant was well laid out (we only had breakfast there), and the bar area was quite comfortable. The beds in the room were great. The decor was interesting with lots of interesting art, wallpaper, furniture, and other artifacts. Was everything perfect? no, but that didn't detract from our stay. The distance from the nearest tram station is a little longer than expected, so it was a bit of a pain arriving with our luggage - taking it over the cobblestone streets and narrow sidewalks from the tram station. So when we left to head to a different part of the country we had a taxi take us to the rental car place (and when we returned) as well as when we left for the airport. Also, the prices are a bit high. But I wanted someplace nice for our trip (and I have Hyatt status). And the statues of the "Prince of Lost Dreams" found throughout the hotel and on every floor were a little creapy - especially when getting off the elevator at night. But they gave us something to laugh about. I would certainly stay again.

Yelp
We recently stayed at the Andaz Hotel, Amsterdam. I only wish I could give more than 5 stars! We had a beautiful room above the lobby on the first floor. We overlooked the canal and watched boats and bikes go by all day! We were helped with everything from best places to eat to a private car to take us to the windmills, the best time to go to the red light district and where to get the best coffee in Amsterdam, by a darling lady named Livia. She and her coworkers could truly not have done more to make this stay any more lovely if they tried! If I had to make any criticisms it would be a rather silly one. There was no dresser (no drawers) in the room so we felt a bit unorganized. But, Amsterdam was the last stop in what had been a wonderful 2 and a half week trip to Europe so, I am not complaining at all! Thanks again, Andaz Amsterdam, we loved your style!

Yelp
It started off bad and did not get any better. We checked in and Maria at the front desk checked us in...she is clueless! Said or room was on 2nd floor in same building as where we checked in, took us to elevators. Once wife and I got to 2nd floor there was no room with our number so we went back and told her this, she then says "oh sorry, it is other building." Two days in a row we had to ask for housekeeping to clean our room. The 2nd day we asked for room to be cleaned, we came back 2.5 hours later and housekeeping had not touched our room even though front desk said they would prioritize it. We were offered free drinks at the bar but we wanted to rest in our room and shower as we had been in and out all day and by that time we had walked 9 miles! We wanted to shower so we could go to dinner, can't shower if no clean towels, wash cloths etc. Breakfast was a joke too!! One day wife ordered omelet and I'm not even sure how they managed this but omelet was raw in parts and overcooked in other parts. Then on another day at breakfast, wife ordered hot chocolate and gets a cappuccino. I even remember one morning at breakfast, a couple at table next to us, the man had to order his eggs 3 times before they got it right. The only reason I don't give this place one star is because after my wife's egg fiasco, the next day the waitress remembered and told my wife I'll make sure your omelet is done right today and it was. Also, when we checked out the male front desk clerk deletes our bar bills because issue we had and the spa was awesome. Spa alone would get five stars. I am sure there are better hotels in the area

Yelp
Came here for a Data & Cloud industry night event (Microsoft & Infosys were the sponsors), so didn't really use any of the Hotel amenities apart from the meeting rooms beyond the garden and their ladies bathroom. So caveat that this review is focused just on those service and amenities. I had two things happen that were annoying me which is why I've given them 3-stars, but it's honestly more like a 3.5. So first the bad and then the good: 1) we were served dinner as part of the event and my first dish was a lovel crab salad but guess what?!? I encountered bits of the shell not just once but multiple times!! Made for most awkward eating and lack of enjoyment, but the dish was really pretty to look at 2) there were 3 sinks in the ladies loo, and one of them was not working! So now the good stuff: 1) The decor is AWESOMENESS! Great out-there and whacky artwork but it made me smile! That inner courtyard garden was an oasis of calmness! 2) lovely staff - very good about offering drinks 3) very nice set-up of the meeting room set up and really comfy chairs 4) Proper mint tea served at end of the meal!! They used mint leaves rather than a teabag. Someone else got chamomile on my table and she was served the real flowers with a strainer! I know there are 4 good things compared to 2 bad experiences and so a part of me wants to bump them up a star..... but eating that crab salad with the pieces of shell in it was just such a horrid start to the event, that I can't get over it and 3 stars it shall remain! Yelp
Stayed at this hotel while at Amsterdam for work. While there, I learned that it used to be a library. So they have a lot of books in the rooms and all around! The theme is a bit spoky but very exquisite. Their service is 5 star, facilities and the overall experience! The staff is very friendly and attentive! Spent some time at the bar too! The barista was amazing! Made the best iced Americano! and super knowledgeable about drinks! The restaurant there is also great! Their honey bread! Yummm There's coffee, tea and cookies always in the lobby and free wine hour at the library from 5 to 7 each day. The room mini bar snacks and non alcoholic drinks are free. Bike rental is free and the hotel is right next to a highly rated canal tour launch. Highly recommend this place. If I'm ever in Amsterdam, I am staying here!

Yelp
Wow. Just wow. This hotel, designed by a Dutch designer named Marcel Wanders, is a psychedelic manifestation of media and furnishings like none I've seen since Philippe Staark. The staff is super friendly, and the beds, linens, and rooms are nothing short of superlative. This place rocks!

Yelp
Beautiful property on the canal. The designer didn't leave on corner untouched by his creativity. We arrived at the hotel at 10:30 am in October. We were early for check in bc our river cruise was over and we needed to store our luggage while we went sightseeing. The check in is a bit awkward. You stand at large tables while the receptionist takes your info. But they did serve us coffee and their homemade cookies which were a lovely treat. We understood that our rooms wouldn't be ready. We were told that our luggage would be in our rooms when we got back. I requested that our two rooms be close together bc we were departing the-next day very early and I wanted to help my 76 year old parents with their luggage. I made our reservations months in advance and requested that both rooms have a king bed. When we arrived back to the hotel around 5 pm. We were told that my parents room would be in the main hotel and that our room would be in the other section and that our room has two twin beds, even though I had reserved two king rooms. The manager apologized and said that he would buy us breakfast......that wasn't going to work bc we were leaving the hotel at 7 am so he gave us a credit off of our dinner. Dinner was still $200 for four patrons. A bit pricey We get to our room and we are missing a piece of our luggage......I try to call the front desk and the phone doesn't work. I walk downstairs to the front desk and explain that a piece of our luggage is missing and I think that it is in my parents room. She says to me in a snarky voice, why don't you go get it then? I explain to her that our phone was not working and I can't into the elevator where their room is bc you need a key. I ask her if someone can go get the bag. We left it at the hotel at 10:30 am and it's now hours later please have a hotel employee bring it to MY room. She rolls her eyes at me and says that it is going to be awhile. Seriously? Roll your eyes at a customer! And it wasn't my mistake to begin with. I tell her that I will get it myself. She lets my into the elevator and off I go to retrieve my bag. Thank goodness it was in my parents room or else it could of been lost. Very disappointed in the rude receptionist. Dinner was a very slow process. Our waitress was very nice and extremely professional. But slow. She had too many tables and we had to ask for more water or another glass of wine or the check etc etc. She was doing the best that she could do so we were trying to be patient but get some more help in the restaurant please. Check out was another slow process......we had prepaid for our rooms but needed to pay the city tax and for our dinner. We weren't given the credit for dinner so we waited and waited for that to be figured out. Lovely hotel and some of the staff were exceptional but need to be better trained to assist the customer better. October 27-28, 2019

Yelp
Great hotel in perfect location. Staff is fantastic. The service is spot on. Rooms are clean, large and well done. Unique art and layout of the hotel makes it feel very cool and hip. This is a price performer in Amsterdam!

Yelp
This hotel has THE BEST beds! Talk about sleeping like a baby! The ambiance is very artsy. A lot of odd-art in the lobby, hallways, and several sculptures throughout. The glass elevator was cool, it reminded me of Alice in Wonderland and there's a theme like that here with art. Super swanky hotel. Very plush towels and robes too. My husband was traveling on business and his company put him here, and he and his teammates could not get over the comfortable beds! When traveling 20 hours, it's the best to sleep in comfort! My kids and I visited him and noticed the hotel gave bottled water, Juice, cookies, and chocolate to guests. The shower is a little odd, as it's door is a mirror. The location for this hotel is near the Anne Frank house, and the hotel room has Diary of Anne Frank book and local books to read. The canal is next to the hotel and there's great restaurants all within walking distance. The restaurant here is delicious!! Very expensive hotel, but I'd highly recommend for couples or business travelers in Amsterdam.

Yelp
This was one of the most incredible hotel experiences in my life! I had a lovely canal facing room and stayed two glorious nights here. The staff was so kind, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. The bed was one of the most fun and comfortable places to rest I've ever been lucky enough to experience. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel! You are right in the middle of everything, and yet you have a true sense of relaxation and privacy when you want it.

Yelp
We loved our stay here, we had an amazing wine tasting dinner at the restaurant, enjoyed the library wine tastings, the availability of an early check-in, and the bicycles!! The staff helped us to navigate our way to our river cruise which left near the central station. Staff is so helpful, friendly and we loved the whimsical art and sculpture in the room and the hotel grounds. Cant wait to stay again!!

Yelp
One of very, very few hotels that I've stayed in that completely blew me away! The moment I got off the taxi, a receptionist was already running to the door to help me with my luggage, and to give me a warm welcome. There are no front desks or reception desks - which is a very creative design that takes down the barrier and creates the most efficient and personal service. Staff members were all carrying iPads or other handheld devices and were assisting customers in different parts of the lobby. If you like, you can just sit back and relax, and they'll also offer you coffee or tea while servicing your needs. When they got busy - just like when I was checking out - half a dozen or more staff members quickly appeared out of nowhere, iPads in hand, and were ready to assist a group of customers who had just arrived. Nobody needed to stand in line - well, there was no line - and nobody needed to wait for even one second. Amazing! Service was detailed oriented and personal. The receptionist didn't tell us where the elevator was. She walked us to the elevator. She addressed me by my name the entire time, and she went over all the details of our room and other complimentary services that they offered. I almost felt like I had a personal secretary with me. The room was absolutely amazing. Large walk-in closet. Huge shower compartment. Large basin and makeup table that was accessible on both sides (smart design). Nespresso maker with many flavors and refilled every morning. Complimentary non-alcoholic drinks in the fridge were also refilled daily. The location is also perfect - within walking distance to where the actions are but far enough from them that the environment surrounding the hotel is peaceful and quite. A lovely stroll along the canal (Prinsengracht) outside the hotel could help you rediscover the meaning of romance.

Yelp
I've had nothing but superb experiences here. I love the quirkiness - there is always something to look at, and all of the artwork and interior design fit so well together. One of my favorite design aspects of the hotel is the elevator. Seriously the world's best elevator in my opinion. The staff is always pleasant and more than willing to help. Really, this is customer service at its best. The rooms are on the smaller side, but this hotel is in a prime location in a metro city - you won't be in your room much. The vanity is outside of the bathroom so there's just a toilet room (I've had this layout the three times I've stayed, not sure if this is standard). Just another quirk that makes Andaz unique. Rooms are bright and colorful, full of history. I've been lucky to have a canal view, but I've also faced the garden. Both are scenic and quiet. The bar and restaurant surpass hotel standards. Watching the chefs table makes for a pleasant dining experience. There is also a library that has complementary wine. The Andaz has it all. Cannot wait for my next stay!

Yelp
I stayed at in this newly build hotel while in Amsterdam on photoassignment with my boss. The level of service was you would expect from a four stared hotel - you never had to miss anything, you were taken completely care of! The hotel was completely thought trough in the very modern design, the breakfast buffet was superb (but very expensive, as in 29€) - but then you also got eggs to order, as you wanted them, and they were perfect! What I appreciated the most about this place though, was how incredibly sincere and sweet the staff was! They really made me feel relaxed and welcome, without the typical stiff and professional attitude! It is a pretty expensive hotel, which shows in the prices - but if you have money to burn, it is a nice way to do it! I'm gonna give it 4 stars, as money wasn't an issue :)

Yelp
My fiancée and I took a train from Paris to Amsterdam where we hopped on a tram and stopped a few blocks from our hotel. The exterior is very unassuming and just by passing by, you would never know it was hotel. The Andaz was quite different from our Hyatt hotel in Paris. Definitely more modern, but a different type of service. We were checked in immediately via iPads and headed to our room. The design of the room (as well as the rest of the hotel) is very funky. Interesting pieces of furniture and décor everywhere. The shower door was so cool-you could see out but no one can see in. There was a separate stall with a toilet and the bathroom sink was outside of the stall. It looked cool but it's not very convenient in the middle of the night. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages in the room minibar were complimentary. Awesome! Maid service was decent. The hotel faces a canal and is just a few blocks away from Anne Frank House. A lot of unique stores nearby in walking distance. They had given us a Andaz museum card which supposedly could be used to skip the line at any museum and the charge would be put on the card. Then at the end of the trip, we would only be charged for the tickets we purchased via this card. What we weren't told is that only a select few museums accept this card. Most of the popular sights were not available with this card, rendering it essentially useless. I wish this had been clarified upon check-in. Overall a lovely stay.

Yelp
I expected so much more. CHECKIN We checked in the afternoon. They let us know it would be a short wait and then offered us some water...but then never delivered. We sat there and waited and eventually just had to ask for it. Not what you want after a long trip to arrive at the hotel. In the meantime, they helped two other people up to their rooms while we waited. The guy who checked us in was very nice though. ROOM Very good use of the small size of the rooms. My husband commented that there were mirrors to open up the space. I appreciated the non-alcoholic drinks and snacks included in the mini bar as a Diamond/Globalist. We had a canal view, but it was sad that the windows didn't open up to it. Everything seemed fairly new though. The shower made a squeaking noise when it was turned on, but that didn't bother me too much. HAPPY HOUR Supposed to be from 5-7 every night. We showed up 45 minutes after happy hour had started. There was no staff, no wine, no snacks. We ran into a couple that said they went to the bar to get their drinks. The bartender poured us a drink out of courtesy but then told us that what he was pouring cost 3x as much as the free wine they were offering and went to see what the issue was. It was only then that the wine came out. There was one snack. I'm not sure how this daily event got so screwed up. BREAKFAST We were told the incorrect time of when breakfast started. Again, this is something that happens daily and that staff should know about. This usually isn't a big deal but we were trying to catch a flight and so time was of the essence. We had to rush through breakfast (and almost decided not to try to get breakfast) when we really didn't have to. Having said that, breakfast was also confusing because the staff had no idea what was included as a Globalist. SPECIAL TOUCHES They acknowledged it was our anniversary, but we got nothing for it like we have before at other hotels. CHECKOUT Since we were checking out early, the process was quick and painless. CONCLUSION Modern room but small, mediocre service with no special touches, breakfast included as a Globalist, possible wine hour. If their service improved (if we were told the correct time that breakfast started, if their daily wine hour started when they said it would, and if they added special touches when it's a special occasion), it would drastically improve my impression of them.

Yelp
We arrived after having flown from San Diego via Germany. Needless to say, we were exhausted by the time we finally got to the Andaz. In hindsight, we should have probably just taken a taxi from the airport, as the train/metro/bus to get to the hotel added about 30 minutes to the already long journey. We were pleasantly surprised with a modest upgrade to our room due to our status with Hyatt thanks to our Hyatt Credit Card. The rooms themselves are super modern and a bit funky. More form over function with the sink and shower essentially being in the main room. The area is very central and allowed us to walk to all of the sights nearby and experience all Amsterdam had to offer. The bar downstairs offered us two excellent evenings after we had taken in the sights. Highly suggest sitting right up next to the bar and engaging with the staff. They had great drink recommendations. Overall the hotel was excellent and the service spot on. Highly recommend and will be at the top of our list if we return.

Yelp
This is as good as it gets when it comes to boutique/luxury hotels. It's located right in the center, close to the hip "9 streets" with lots of cool stores, shops and cafes. The decor of the place is hip and young. The staff is cool. The restaurant is amazing. Highly recommend. A few tips: - if you want to explore the city like the locals do, the hotel will lend you bikes, just make sure to ask for it a day in advance. - when booking, if there's option with a breakfast most definitely get it - it is gourmet, superb!

Yelp
Awesome hotel! So glad I stayed here on my most recent visit to Amsterdam. So many amenities: - location very convenient and picturesque. Hotel on one of Amsterdam's most beautiful canals - staff very friendly and attentive - hotel appears completely new or very recently renovated - in-hotel bar and restaurant - free wine happy hours 5-7 pm every day - free unlimited bottled water, coffee, and home-made cookies in hotel lobby at all times - free in-room mini-bar (except alcohol) and free refills 24/7 - affiliated with the Hyatt hotel chain Highly recommend!

Yelp
Dare I say it? The Andaz Amsterdam is officially our new favorite Hyatt, blowing the Park Hyatt in Chicago (our prior favorite) out of the water!! And Paul, on front desk, was one of the major reasons for it. The Andaz Amsterdam is located in the most picturesque neighborhood of Amsterdam, right on the prisengracht (sp? Means "prince's canal" in Dutch), a beautiful canal lined with bikes and flowers. It was super easy to get to the hotel from the airport with public transportation, and the hotel itself is close to all the sites- the Rijksmuseum, Jordaan district, floating flower market, Anne Frank's house, Van Gogh museum, etc are all a very short walk away. From the moment we checked in, Paul was absolutely awesome! He offered us a drink while he processed the checkin, and made fun chit chat as he took us up to our room. Room 531 is THE best room we could have possibly gotten!! A corner room with tons of windows and light in what used to be the library, in the 2nd building of the hotel. We loved having breakfast on the balcony, overlooking the hotel's beautiful Alice in wonderland-esque courtyard. The concierges MADE OUR TRIP by putting gluten free stroopwafels in our room upon arrival!! My wife, who has celiacs, had been searching the Internet for WEEKS trying to find a way to try Amsterdam's signature treat, and had not been able to find any gluten free option for it. She almost started crying tears of happiness when we walked in and saw them sitting on the table in our room. This was an AWESOME touch, and one of the main reasons we will be coming back very soon to the Andaz Amsterdam! Paul then proceeded to be absolutely incredible by letting us take the hotel's complimentary bikes over to our dinner reservation 4km away! This was the highlight of our trip!! We felt like we were able to see so many cool side streets of the city this way, and loved it. Biking is definitely the best way to see Amsterdam, and biking at night was super relaxing and fun. All in all, this has been our favorite Hyatt property yet (and we've been to tons!), and we cannot wait to come back!!!! Thanks so much Paul & concierges!!!!

Yelp
Sometimes I like a place so much that I'm hesitant to write a good review because I don't want it to get too popular, but the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is so good at what they do that I don't think it will matter. First, the location is perfect. It is on the Prinsengracht canal, a quiet location, great for walking. Amsterdam is a walking city and you can get to Old Town, the Museum district, Central (Red Light District), or the shopping district known as 'The 9 little streets'. the walks were the best part of our stay. It's lovely to walk down the canals just enjoying the city. Second, the room. It was terrific. We had just come from Rotterdam and the hotel there was uncomfortably hot, but the Andaz room was cool and inviting. Also, it was beautiful. Decent size, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the canal. And the bed was incredible! Not too soft, not too hard, just perfect. The shower was very large for Europe, and the wallpaper in the bathroom is ridiculously cool. Good wi-fi, a radio with bluetooth, a nice fridge with complementary sodas and snacks in it. A very welcoming space. Also, the bitterballen were so tasty! And they make a great burger if you just feel like a break from all the great Dutch cheese. Third, and most importantly, the people. From Izzy, who checked us in and checked on us daily, to Lorenzo, Roxy, Willem, and the rest of the bar staff who made us feel welcome and made us extraordinarily good cocktails, to Daiana, who saved our vacation by finding a bag we had left in the room after we checked out and realized it when we were at the airport, then shipped it home for us, and everyone else who made our stay so comfortable and nice. They had tons of great suggestions about places to go. You just can't go wrong here. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The Andaz is a very lovely hotel in the middle of Amsterdam. It is a luxe hotel, with great service and design. There is a nice bar and a very good restaurant as well. I stayed here one night during the Amsterdam Hotelnacht event. Though the hotel was lovely, the service great and the design of the room super awesome I did miss a few things, that I Always check when I'm at hotels thoughout the world. I missed: - A fohn. It is so lame that they did not have this. Even cheap ass hotels have fohns so you never bring them because you know it will be there. But then it wasnt... - No toiletbrush. Whut? Yup.. when one person needs to use the loo in the morning, the second one just has to deal the some stains. Luckily this did not happen to us, but it would have been pretty gross and awkward otherwise right? I'd like to be able to clean after myself if needed. - A comfy bed. The bed was quite hard. It wasnt very comfortable. The pillows were very soft, so we needed 2 per person. And the bedding was so thin we needed to ask for a blanket. I expect way more from a hotel that has these kind of prices. - A bath. A luxury hotelroom that costs 260 euros a night needs a bath. It just does. So..a very hones review. I'm sorry but I just expected so much more. It was a bit dissapointing, though if these things are not an issue for you, you should be fine. The service was very good and the hotel very beautifull. There was also a free soft drink/snack mini bar in the room.

Yelp
A great hotel, made even better by consistently stellar service. I was impressed by the friendly and helpful staff (shout out especially to Julia) who are also very capable. The hotel's location is convenient for sightseeing, close to tram service and walkable to a variety of cafes and restaurants. I'm definitely staying here again when I return to Amsterdam.

Yelp
I did not stay at the hotel but I dined at their amazing restaurant. We started at the super cool bar with my girl friends. The decor, chandelier, contemporary red chairs are a great touch. After our cocktails at the bar we moved to the kitchen and watch the chefs prepare our meal and we washed down with great wine. They have a beautiful view of the gardens,it was winter but I heard it's gorgeous with all the flowers during the summer months.

Yelp
Welcoming, warm and the best service we received in Europe. We've stayed at much more expensive hotels, but Andaz made us feel that they are authentic in wanting my family to enjoy what Amsterdam has to offer. I would give the staff 6 stars if I could --quality people that will make you like you are a wanted/respected guest. We will be back.

Yelp
We stayed here as part of a euro trip for the Christmas New year's break. It was such an unbelievable hotel the staff was so pleasant and made sure we were always happy and in a good mood. Martin the head bartender was really the reason this hotel was so special he was so kind to us and always gave us the best drinks best seats best recommendations you should only hire more staff like him and have him train the new employees. Truly unbelievable experience we will definitely be back and only stay here for the bar and Martin !!! Bravo.

Yelp
Very scene-y spot for a drink (crowd ranged from people in evening gowns and tuxes to regular folk like us in jeans), but a few colleagues organized happy hour here and we stopped by - imagine our surprise when we were greeted with VODKA FRIDAY! I hate giving this tip away as I'm sure the hotel will be flooded with visitors, but it's too good not to share: every last Friday of the month, the hotel bar stirs up an inventive vodka based cocktail which they serve for free alongside passed appetizers (among some of the goodies were beef tartate sliders, herring on toast, various meats and cheeses, and olives). What a steal! The Andaz prides itself on its interior decorating provided by famed Dutch designer Marcel Wanders - the bar itself is a wonderful display of this, but if you're not a guest of the hotel, make sure to hang out near the elevators and hitch a ride with someone who is! The elevator bank is not to be missed, I took a mini tour with a hotel employee and she described it as such: it all kicks off with some book themed paintings in the lobby (to pay homage to the library that was once on that plot of land - the book titles are hilarious) and as you ascend, there are delft blauw style paintings depicting Amsterdam from hell (vices such as the Red Light District) to heaven (churches, bikes, lol). Awesome concept, such thought put into everything!

Yelp
We absolutely loved EVERYTHING about this hotel. Rooms were very spacious and well laid out; very comfortable beds; and huge two person shower (great for the honeymoon). The staff was by far the most friendly, helpful, and informative than any other hotel we've stayed at (and I have stayed at hundreds of hotels). I would stay here again just because of the service. The hotel decor is also very interesting and beautiful. Definitely classy yet eclectic. Make sure you ask someone there the story behind the tall statues in a shouting position throughout the hotel. Pretty funny story. The hotel also does so many things right: free water, soft drinks, munchies in room mini bar (alcohol is by charge); free umbrellas to borrow; free wine happy hour every day. Just a great hotel!

Yelp
The Andaz Prinsengracht is my favorite hotel in the Hyatt system. There, I said it. I've visited over 40 Hyatt locations in the past few years including Park Hyatts on four different continents, and every international Andaz location. This hotel, with its amazing Marcel Wanders design is my favorite. Why? Obviously part of it is because of the great city it calls home, and the great neighborhood around it on the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals but it's more than that. It's the hotel itself. The theme of books and library which owes to the property originally being the Amsterdam public library, to the amazing design, to the food, to the staff, it all comes together. That doesn't mean that everything is perfect. I don't think I've ever had a perfect hotel stay. But this hotel is close. They had some issues with mini bar refilling, their rental bikes are too small for me (I'm 6'4...so it's not unexpected), there was sometimes a wait to speak to a host, and they delivered the wrong tea with room service breakfast. But as you can see by the triviality of each complaint, these aren't things that materially impact a stay. At the Andaz Prinsengracht I feel at home each time I return to the room and in just three days I've fallen in love with the neighborhood. This hotel feels like it was made for me. As a Hyatt Diamond I'll definitely be back, and next time it will be for longer than three nights, and I recommend you do too, as it's bound to be one of the better experiences of your life.

Yelp
Total rip off - $500/night and they don't even have someone stationed at the front desk. In fact there is no front desk, just three round tables and no-one to greet you when you arrive. The room was dark in most places with no central ceiling light. This place is quirky and not guest friendly. It most likely appeals to yuppies with money to burn.

Yelp
I did not stay at the hotel but popped in for a drink with friends one Friday evening. The lounge was swanky and comfortable, and the drinks were perfect. The staff is obviously top notch and I would absolutely stop back in for a drink again. I took a peek at the garden, which came recommended, and the entire hotel seems like a place worth frequenting.

Yelp
The only place to stay when in Amsterdam! From the moment you enter the staff are very attentive and helpful. Nice bar to the left of the casual reception. Was able to get a early check in. The rooms are fun, I liked having the sink in the room very handy. The location of the hotel was down the road from the Ann frank house and some nice side roads with lots of interesting shops. I will stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful hotel in a great part of the city. Jasper, who checked us in after a long flight, was very kind and helpful. The free wine reception from 5-7 each night was great as was the free coffee and cookies at any time. They have very nice bikes you can also use for free. If you are going to Europe get the Hyatt credit card and make these your two free nights, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Best meal I had in Amsterdam. I came here for lunch while we were heading to Anne Frank's house museum. Nice hotel and great garden. Probably nice to eat dinner here. Cool vibe I highly recommend

Yelp
We knew the location was amazing, easy walking to every site. However the pictures on the web really didn't do this place justice. We we got there, they casually seated us in the bar for a free welcome drink and check in. They sent our bags us and after we finished our drinks took us up to our outstanding, unusual and light filled room. Everything was very comfortable and well thought out. From the free minibar and water set out beside the bed at turndown, to the extremely tasty and inexpensive 24 hour room service. Plus, the hotel, rooms, halls are all covered in art, so much that the whole place feels like a custom work of art describing their love of all things Amsterdam. This will hotel will be a highlight of our two weeks in Europe.

Yelp
Fabulous hotel in excellent location of Amsterdam. Charlotte and the entire staff met all of our needs from free bikes to recommending excellent restaurants. If you are looking for a place ... look no further.

Yelp
Was fortunate enough to stay at this GEM thanks to my travel agent. Gorgeous hotel and an amazing staff that couldn't do enough for you. Utterly surprised we were upgraded to a stunning suite. Would recommend this hotel if you are lucky to get a reservation.

Yelp
love, love, love this hotel, which used to be a public library. It is in a great neighborhood, central enough to be walking distance to the Rijks and Van Gogh museums, fine dining, and gay bars, yet far enough from the madding crowds. My room looked out to the canal and cost a lot, but every cent of it was worth it.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel. Great location. Amazing food and mixed drinks. Service was amazing. The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that the lobby fragrance gave me a migraine.

Yelp
I'm traveling a lot, but must say that this hotel is high on my all time favorite list. Great location, great service. Breakfast buffet with superb quality and variety was included. The bar attracts lots of walk-ins too, great for a night cap. Amsterdam isn't on my usual travel route, but I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Perhaps the best lounge/bar in Amsterdam. Very nice and relaxed atmosphere, excellent service, and very knowledgable bartenders. A bit pricey, but most places in this city are; except they're usually not worth it. The lounge is great for semi-casual business meetings, even dates, as you don't need to be a guest at the hotel. You can just walk right in and sit down.

Yelp
This is simply a magical place . The design of the hotel and the staff all join together in creating a wonderful experience. Everything here is simply done to perfection. We took a larger room with a canal view and it is worth every penny we paid . The design of the room as well as the public areas are unique and add to the whole Holland experience . We plan to return even for a few days as we have come to feel so comfortable here . Excellent location we did an early check in as we drove in from the airport and were told the room was available early ! So from the car rid in we felt as though we were being taken care of . Hospitality at its finest !

Yelp
We stopped in for a drink, but didn't stay at the hotel. Interesting decor, it's very comfortable and I had the best gin and tonic I've ever had. Unfortunately, when I came back to the US I found that the gin was German and the tonic was English. Both are going to be hard to get here...
