"At first glance, the lobby is the place to be at this boutique hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter. At check-in guests are offered a selection of local wine and beer—and again during happy hour. Under soaring ceilings supported by leather-wrapped pillars and surrounded by colorful art, you can sip and socialize. But don’t ignore the scene on the roof, either, where you’ll find a pool with oversized, floating pillows; fire pits with food and drink service; and views of the Coronado Bridge, Mount San Miguel, and the old and new architectural icons of downtown. In fact, the rooftop is so special, you may want to book the only accommodation in the 159-room hotel that grants you direct access to it: the Cabana Suite, where a private staircase leads to your own poolside cabana. On the other hand, if you’re traveling as a family, you may find that another option beats private rooftop access: the Star Suite, complete with three king-size beds, two of which form a custom-built bunk bed. Either way, expect ultra-modern furnishings paired with skyline views."

Andaz San Diego

"While the leather-bound lobby and erotic specialty suites (with group showers, for example) draw most of the notice, the voyeuristic vibe is really built around more subtle features at the Andaz (originally the Ivy Hotel). From the overstuffed beds made up with Thai linens, one has the option of gawking at a giant TV or your companion voguing in the translucent shower cube. But substance also accompanies the sexy style. The rooftop sundeck (where after-dark movies are screened) is strewn with daybeds, private cabanas, and a large fire pit. Andaz’s nightlife scene is a hot ticket in the Gaslamp Quarter, with the crowd gathering to watch the city lights (and one another) at the Rooftop bar."

If I could give 0 stars I would. Multiple issues with this place. 1st AC didn’t work in our room. When we put it at 69, it took hours to cool the room even a little, we call the reception, they say we will send fans but nothing. So bad sleep. Next say they say it’s fixed but 69 feels hot in this normally when at my home I sleep at 71. Then the valet service. They try to serve you but there is such a big staff shortage that sometimes it has taken 40 mins ( correction 1 hour) to get our car! Totally ruins plans. I would not recommend this hotel at all. They should either lower the price so we don’t expect anything. Totally unjustified price range for this! Not worth it! Edit: they waived off my room tariff for 1 night when AC was not working. Adding 1 star for staff being thoughtful and considerate

We stayed for 1 night in a king suite which ended up being a small room so I can only imagine what a regular room would be. It's at a great location and within walking distance to restaurants and nightlife. Felt somewhat safe walking at night but definitely stayed aware of my surroundings. I will say it is a noisy hotel and you can hear everything from outside. They provide you with a sound machine and ear plugs and it helps. If you are a light sleeper you will be bothered by the sound. The shower is clear glass which is not a big deal until you realize it is positioned so that opening the door puts you on display to everyone in the hall or at the door. Big problem when you open the door for room service and your partner is in the shower. I also noticed a slight weird smell. It was not overwhelming but for some reason it bothered me. I would get use to it and then walk to another area of the room and smell it again.

Small Rooms...Good Elite Breakfast Reviewed May 17, 2024 We stayed for one night recently at the Andaz San Diego. The room was nice but small. As stated in many reviews the overall room layout and the strange curtain were very awkward. The bed was comfortable. We had planned to use the pool but it seemed to be closed for a private party... The hotel provided ear plugs and a note about noise from the neighborhood...shown in pic. The best part of our stay was the breakfast and service. Jesse at the rooftop restaurant was "Brand Ambassador" in addition to being a top-notch waiter. The valet was extremely slow...unfortunate for the cost. We stayed at four other Hyatt properties on this trip and while the Andaz was not a "bad" property it was our least favorite of the trip. I didn't see the other reviews here on TA before it was too late for me to cancel or I would have changed to one of the other properties. Date of stay: April 2024 Traveled as a couple

Nice, smaller boutique hotel in good proximity to the Gaslamp and the Convention Center. The queen room was small but good for a single traveler. Service was great. My only concern was the neighborhood turns a bit a block or so away, so as a single woman traveler i made sure to be mindful. But the night door staff was always diligent so i never felt unsafe.

If you're planning to visit San Diego and want to be central, this was a nice stay. We attended for a wedding and were between 5-10 minutes by uber/lyft from different districts we wanted to visit. It was a short weekend so we didn't have the need to go too far, but location, room size, decent gym, rooftop pool, etc were pretty good. My only gripe was that we specifically requested our room to be turned one day (we left for a wedding at 2 and didn't return until almost 11:00 pm) - the other days we were able to make due - but when we returned it hadn't been serviced, so we had our dirty cups, no towels, and no toilet paper our last night. That was a bit disappointing. It isn't enough for me to say I wouldn't stay there again, but for an Andaz/Hyatt brand, that was a big fail.

Google
Great hotel - friendly staff, good food, wonderfully clean rooms. A bit noisy on a Saturday night outside in the gaslamp, but with closing the windows you don't hear anything. The breakfasts were great, the staff in the restaurant in the morning were friendly and helpful. There is no parking but the valet team is efficient.

Google
The mattress was one of my favorites in terms of comfort at a hotel. Definitely would buy the mattress for myself.||||Location was not my favorite. For a higher rating Hyatt, the location doesn't match up particularly well. My initial experience with the valet was a tad off but the valet staff who helped me with the rest of my trip was great.

Google
2 night stay for business. Staff were all friendly, room decor is modern /urban. Loved the rooftop pool (small, but never crowded during my stay & hotel was near full) . As globalist was upgraded to standard suite, & enjoyed a breakfast entree & coffee at the restaurant; food was very good. 15 min walk to convention ctr; it’s not a nice area like the other Hyatt, but I never felt unsafe walking to/from conv ctr. Would stay again; I think it’s a better place for adults rather than for a family stay.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel. Super efficient with check in and valet. Very dog friendly. Staff are all very courteous and professional.

Yelp
Very hip vibe. Perfectly settled in the heart of everything that's happening. Decor was nice Hotel furniture is interesting in the suite Selected a suite for 2 adults and a 13 y/o Two nice TV's . The couch "pullout" was absolutely ridiculous. I'm a 20 year soldier & have not slept on a bed that bad! It reminds me of the Beverly hillbilly's bed when they were poor. I wouldn't allow my child to sleep on This subpar bed? You can feel the springs! Stayed 3 nights with 3 of us sleeping in a king bed. This is not a suite. It's a room with a 1/2 wall between the king bed & the living room. I had to call daily for towels I had to call to get my room service since it was past 5pm and I wanted new sheets towels & trash emptied. The room cost $500 per night for this room. And they give me 1 ply toilet paper. Sandpaper on my bottom was not nice. ( definitely bring your own TP). Actually no the hotel needs to step it up! Friday night was quiet, Sat night got loud for a while but they provided ear plugs in the room ( 1 pair) . Sunday night was loud until midnight. But " they warn you" it's a loud part of town so that's cool. The pool on the roof is 3ft deep. The pics look different than actually being there. The restaurant on the roof was great. Drinks are superb. Breakfast was very good. Staff at the front desk gave great recommendations to places to eat around the area. Valet service was very kind and accommodating.

Yelp
Place is the definition of mid. It's not a bad place but the price exceeds the hotel. Room is a standard queen size bed (not a king). Hotel does not smell like animals however smells like petco (rubber toy section). The food here was actually pretty good so that's a plus. The rooftop bar is alright. No jacuzzi/hot tub unfortunately. Views are of the city and no sea. One other good thing is even though you're in party central you don't hear outside noise from the room. The windows must be nice or something . Overall, it's a okay spot. You are in gaslamp district. The hotel offers great location, however, if you're vacationing here you wouldn't want to stay at the hotel all day. I'm from San Diego and did not pay for my stay here, but if I do spend money I would feel like they got the better of me due to price for room/accommodations. 3.7 stars.

Yelp
Stayed here recently for a work trip. First time staying at an Andaz and I was surprised at how underwhelming the entire experience was. I always had the impression that Andaz is a luxury brand but this hotel was most definitely not. The property is showing its age and needs quite a bit of upgrades.

Erika D.

Yelp
My friends and I got a cabana here for my bachelorette party and it was such a fun experience! The service was great! It wasn't crowded at all so we were able to get lounge chairs to be in the sun when desired. There was music and it was a great time!

Yelp
Really wanted to like this spot because I love the Andaz vibe. Unfortunately, this one did not hit the mark. Didn't find an option to self park overnight in the area and valeted for $60. Bad thing about valet, it can get backed up in the morning even with 2 attendants. The rooms needed an update. Also, housekeeping needs to rotate out old coffee pods and creamer because I opened up chunky creamer. Yuck! Killed a creepy crawly bug when I checked in. I am usually not the type to complain about my hotel stays. This time I did complain because everything just added up after waiting for valet for almost 30 mins. I was provided a reasonable resolution.

Yelp
This is without a doubt my absolute favorite hotel in San Diego. Friendly amazing customer service from the minute you hit the sidewalk in front of the hotel from the valet stand to the front desk. The valets happily unload the vehicle you arrive in whether it's yours or a car service of any type. The lobby is beautiful, very aesthetically pleasing to all the senses as they have a beautiful air scent that is not overwhelming but just very slight and in the background where you may not notice it at first but it's very pleasant once you do. As you enter the lobby the front desk is to your right and you will have no trouble finding it as the staff great you immediately. The front desk staff is probably the best I have ever encountered, helpful, willing to go out of their way for you, and truly attempt to make your stay outstanding. The rooms are all different and are not perfectly shaped squares, but are unique in shape, this is a renovation of an older building and the rooms reflect the character of the older building. The hotel is located in the gas lamp district and thus on the weekends there may be some street noise but I actually prefer that and the feeling of being in a vibrant downtown setting. Another difference is that ice is kept in freezers on every floor in plastic bags. So much easier to deal with than a clunky ice machine and probably more sanitary. The rooftop bar, bistro, and swimming pool are wonderful additions to your stay. STK restaurant is attached to the hotel on the ground floor. All types of restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance of the hotel. On the one occasion that I had a problem, a mini fridge not functioning, it was literally fixed within a matter of minutes. An epic boutique hotel without match in my opinion.

Yelp
In A Nutshell: -The Andaz SD is a good hotel. -I was able to get a free room upgrade. -The internet speed was fast & easy to connect to. -I also enjoyed early check in and 2pm check out as a status member. -The room was big & clean. - I enjoyed the free filtered water dispenser in the hallway. -The customer service here is excellent, I enjoyed the hospitality. -The location is in the Gaslamp area, which is close to everything you need. -You will get some really, really good sleep as the windows are soundproof & the blinds are blackout. Overall, there is a decent outdoor rooftop lounge you can check out. Park in the nearby non-associated parking lot for cheap parking.

Yelp
I was excited to try out the Andaz, but was hesitant due to location being Gaslamp. It's not awful, but the interior is definitely showing wear and tear. Pros: + Somewhat modern, but needs a reno IMO Cons: + Tub is so tall, hard for a 5'1 girl to hop in + Tub spout was malfunctioning and would not turn off even as I turned the handle. Figured it out after 5-10 minutes. Will not be returning. Sticking to Manchester Grand Hyatt or exploring other places.

Yelp
Booked a cabana and two day beds for my friends birthday. Terrible service, lame music, and expensive food and drink. There are soooo many other pool and hotels in San Diego. Book elsewhere, thank me later

Yelp
I stayed here for a friend's birthday and as a Hyatt member I was given a complimentary upgrade upon checkin and for my friends birthday a complimentary bottle of wine. This place is too cute and they have nice little packages snacks in the lobby. This place is beautiful and in the prime location of SD close to bars and restaurants. The room I had was a bit noisy at times from the outdoor festivities but I didn't mind at all! The staff were amazing and professional at every interaction. 10/10 would recommend. Parking is at a cost, I don't remember the exact cost but it was added to my folio upon checkout. The best part about my room is the shower sort of in the middle of the room it was so cool!

Yelp
Stayed here recently during a trip to San Diego. We had been upgraded to a suite and appreciated the extra space we had. The room was very spacious and had a separate living room from the bedroom and dining room. Complimentary breakfast (globalist) was served at the rooftop restaurant that was part of STK. The menu was a la carte but they had a huge selection. The food came out relatively fast and tasted delicious. The hotel had valet parking that was complimentary for globalists on a points stay, however I booked a cash rate and was able to find a parking lot fairly closeby. The location of the hotel wasn't the best as you can hear people outside until pretty late at night so if that is an issue perhaps request a higher floor or stay at one of the other Hyatt properties.

Yelp
I have stayed at other Andaz locations but upon arriving to the San Diego location, it was clear that this hotel was definitely most run down. I booked a standard room for 3 nights for my wife and I along with our 4 year old son. We checked in late Thursday night hoping that our room would be ready but unfortunately, upon entering, we saw an utterly discgusting state of the room. Overall, it badly needed a renovation but what really got us was the lack of fundamental attention to cleanliness and detail. First, the pillows on the sofa bed were dirty with some questionable stains (I didnt take any photos but showed this nastiness to the shift manager; and yes, they looked like those kinds of stain) but the worst part was that we used hair extensions left in the sofa (see photo). Given the unsanitary conditions of the sofa bed, there was no way that I was going to allow my son to sleep on that sofa bed so the shift manager helped us move into another room. This new room was a suite so I was hoping this would offer an experience more aligned with the Andaz brand but again, utter disappointment and shock. The carpet was wet as you could hear a 'squish' noise when walking in some areas (we had to wear slippers just to keep our feet clean) and also, there was dirty clothes behind the tv stand left behind from the previous occupant. Since it was so late at night, we had no choice but to sleep in that suite. I requested to cancel the 2nd and 3rd night of our stay which the shift manager was kind enough to assist with. But for $300+ a night, I was hoping for an experience that reflected the standards of the Hyatt Group. The issues we encountered were not only disappointing but also concerning for future guests considering options in the San Diego area.

Yelp
Nice hotel near GasLamp. Hate all the hidden fees. $65 for valet parking. 3.5% bump for Minimum wage. 20% gratuity added, $9.50 coffee in morning, $35 destination fee. 13.5% TOT tax etc. Plan to add another $150 to your stay per night
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed this hotel. We stayed on the 5th floor at the very back but still had a decent view. The customer service was great and the rooms were super clean and spacious. I loved the bathrooms and bathtub! I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
*** Yes, I'm a fan of Andaz. Overdelivered. *** I was in room #212. It faces out onto the street. King bed was comfortable and desk serviceable. What l really like was the glass enclosed shower. It separates bedroom from the vanity/bathroom. It is clear then shaded once hot water showering. *** Rooftop restaurant/bar is an added plus. ***

Yelp
Oh the noise, the noise! I have stayed in many urban hotels and few have noise levels from the street or their own disco steak restaurant quite at the decibel level as here. They do provide ear buds and trust me you will need them. The room was fine and very clean. You will get a text from the car valet to expect it to take 30 minutes to receive your car which really is not acceptable. This hotel feels more like a Hyatt Centrix than an Andaz. Also, the hotel is on the edge of a blighted area with many boarded store fronts and many homeless.
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
Andaz Hyatt overall is a nice hotel right in the middle of the gaslight district. Staff were friendly and very accommodating even offering an umbrella on a rainy day. The room and bed was comfortable and staff volunteered an upgrade. The only two downsides were street noise and mechanical equipment howling. Also, there are no proper chairs if you need to do work.
google avatar

Melody K.

Yelp
Andaz, absolutely loved. Located in the downtown area of the Gaslamp Quarter. Convenient to restaurants and entertainment. A boutique feeling hotel that was renovated. Check-in went smoothly and was easy, nice touch of the offering of a glass of wine, beer or water. Our room was very nice, felt clean. The room had a coffee maker, mini refrigerator and complimentary snacks. LOL housekeeping was on top of their bed making game with perfect hospital corners. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I've been noticing more and more hotels have complete rooftops: swimming pools, bars, sitting areas, like this one, in addition rooftop dining. My friend and I were able to find a spot by the pool the first day there, tried again the 3rd day there (Saturday) and it was packed. I took advantage of the gym everyday, small but sufficient, treadmills, ellipticals, Peloton and stationary bike along with weights... plenty of hand sanitizer and wipes with towels and a water station. The valet service was good, very nice. LOL it better be at $60 a day. To note if you do use the valet service call down 1/2 in advance if you don't want to wait. So now for the things to keep in mind when staying at this hotel location, which has nothing to do with the hotel itself. If you never lived in the big cities and are use to the city sounds or the homeless, this may not be the place for you. Yes, it's loud at night, hence that is why the hotel supplies you with ear plugs. Yes there are homeless (tent city) like every big city (NYC, LA, San Fran., Chicago, Washington, Seattle). My friend and I have lived in the big cities and there was no time I felt unsafe at this San Diego location, just practice common sense. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, loved everything about it.

Yelp
Excellent customer service! We only stayed for one night. Check in was quick and easy. Parking is $60 for valet. There is a parking structure down two blocks called Park It On Market that is secure and safe (for the area). We ended up parking there around 11pm and picked up our car the next morning at 10am and paid $13. I believe the max is $20 for a 24 hour period. The room was clean. The bathroom sink was kind of annoying, it was really small and the faucet covered half of it lol You do hear some noise outside like cars zooming by loudly or people walking by with loud speakers. The hotel provides a white noise machine so that should tell you how loud it can get... We stayed with our 9 month baby and luckily it wasn't an issue for us. I saw a lot of other reviews among the area not being great and there being a lot of homeless people, but I didn't think it was that bad. It was like LA. The street that the hotel was on didn't have any homeless people that I could see. The parking is the most annoying part but that comes with the area. I'd probably stay outside of downtown in the future just to avoid the parking situation. Aside from that, the hotel is beautiful and service was great!

Becky S.

Yelp
The hotel is a bit run down in the lobby. We stayed in a suite and the room was nice but had no mini bar and definitely was not worth the $900 (including taxes and fees) per night charge.
google avatar

Ally W.

Yelp
Andaz is a modern hotel in downtown. My room looks beautiful, but it is not the most functional. For example, the towel hooks are located far away from the shower and installed very high on the wall. The bed, the most important part of a hotel room, is boggy and soft. When I lie down, my body sinks into the mattress -- not comfortable at all (1 star off). As others have mentioned, there is a ton of street noise (1 star off), and my room doesn't even face the street! The hotel is located on a busy part of downtown, where F street would be blocked for loud street fairs or holiday celebrations. Even when there is no loud street noise, there is some mechanical machinery noise constantly heard from the room (1 star off). There are earplugs in each room. I guess they already knew there would be a lot of noise. Too bad the ear plugs do not help with the loud vibrating bass.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
I've stayed at Andaz in Hollywood before and it was so noisy and bright that I vowed never to stay there again. Unfortunately Manchester Grand Hyatt was all booked up so we decided to give Andaz San Diego a try. Wish we hadn't. Didn't realize the homeless shelter was next door with tents all around. Before 6 AM, because the sun is out, the homeless start turning on their music speakers, dogs are barking and I could see them already shooting up drugs in broad daylight from my window. I don't feel safe going on a walk to get breakfast due to the location. While the room is fine and there are many amenities, first and foremost I came here to sleep. I don't know what it is with Andaz, but it's impossible to get a good night's sleep here. Visited: June 2023

Yelp
I really enjoyed this hotel as far as the location and the service. The staff was very friendly and shoot the people hanging out at the restaurants were even a great time lol. The only thing was my bed was not that comfortable. It was a little hard to sleep. I believe there is only one bed type here so for that reason I might not stay again. My sleep is everything to me lol but besides that, everything was great. I came here with friends and the hubby and I believe I was the only person besides the hubby that did not sleep well.

Yelp
Ok. We arrived later in the evening. First impression was seeing the lines of homeless tents across the street and the smell of urine, not cool! Not the hotels fault either. Checking in to our room, the staff was excellent!!! They were so friendly and accommodating. We went to our room and there was an overwhelming smell of fabreeze or some sort of room freshener that was unbearable. I went back downstairs to the lobby and they were very accommodating and gave us another room. Our new room was underwhelming and def needed some updates/renovations. Our suite which I booked online directly with Hyatt was $500 a night and was a rip. This room was an interior room that faced the air conditioning equipment and other interior units, so we needed to keep blinds closed the entire time, which made it extremely dark inside. The lighting in the room was absent. One entry light and a standing lamp with a few lights on it and two bedside lamps, oh and the bathroom light. Very dark. Loved that the had complementary snacks as well as a few bottles of water, coffee, tea. We appreciated that. Wine at checkin was a nice touch as well. We have stayed at the Napa Andaz and the 5th Avenue NY one and this had a different feel. Not as quality. We did enjoy the lobby Tequila tasting one night while we were there and the roof top bar was a fun spot to have snacks and drinks. Valet is expensive ($60 per night) I asked the first night and was told $50 but when we got our bill it was $60. It also took close to 30 mins each time we needed the car.

Yelp
Literally the worst hotel ever. We booked from month in advance and the day we checked in the gave us their worse room which felt like a jail cell. I don't even know why they would even offer this room to anyone. Of course there is no other rooms to even move us to clearly because no body wanted this room. The room smells old and like smoke. The bathroom window is broken which they tired to cover by a box of tissue. Extreme amount of dust in the room which you can clearly tell how disgusting their air filters must be, the entire night we were coughing and couldn't sleep. The hotel is extremely loud all night long from noise outside and of course they don't tell you this info until you check in and notice a sound machine and ear plugs (go figure). Staff was no where to be found to talk about issues. After checking out and providing feed back they have the audacity to reply saying "will let maintenance know". I'm sorry but this should be something it should be taken care of before putting a guest at $450 a night rather than wanting to fix it aftermath and given "they are a fully committed hotel". This room should not be available to use, especially the fact that there is mold and it's a health hazard. ( see photos of everything below. And in return they gave me some Hyatt points back haha. Is this a joke? Shouldn't the manager be embarrassed to even offer this? Will definitely be taking this further to Hyatt and higher as I wouldn't want anyone to experience what we did. Do yourself a favor and DO not bother staying here.

Yelp
Lovely hotel. Went to a fashion show here. They keep this place circulating with AC, pretty cold but of course rather that then the heat. There is always someone coming in and out of the bathrooms to clean it which is nice and they have a conference room that is huge where you can comfortably have meetings!
google avatar

Yelp
The house cleaners stole my laptop while I stayed at this hotel during tableau conference in 2024. I cannot recommend anyone to stay at this hotel or the safety of your belongings in the room. Please use the safety deposit box if for some ungodly reason you need to stay at this hotel. I have evidence of my laptop being taken while I was away from the hotel. There are find my iPhone notifications which clearly show my MacBook being left in the room. After entering my room after the conference (the room cleaned), my laptop is missing. Somehow after 2 years of owning this laptop, it disappears from the face of the earth after a house cleaner enters on find my iPhone. I am pursuing all sorts of avenues for a resolution, including police + legal action. Please be weary of your belongings. Do not trust any staff members with your valuables. There are NO CAMERAS except for in the lobby and rooftop. There are also outdated locks on the doors which do not show detailed information on who enters your room. Please, lock your valuables or you will be in for a roller coaster of an experience. I really regret staying here.

Yelp
Lot's of pros, but some cons about this property. We've stayed at other Andaz properties before, Dubai and Maui- this one is more subdued. First, the location is excellent. It's in the Gaslamp District, so it is mere steps away from lots of dining and nightlife. But, it can get loud at night. We had a suite facing the courtyard which was very quiet, but other members of our family stayed in a room facing the street. They wound up requesting to move because the sound was loud. The hotel does take steps to mitigate the noise. They have blackout curtains that can cut out the noise as well as provide earplugs. The room itself felt a bit sterile and missed the flair we had come to associate with other Andaz properties. Things such as the knobs for the water faucets were not well designed and the shower experience was terrible. It took a long time for the water to get hot and it was hard to gauge just how much the knob had been turned. Also, the shelf above the toilet was not well placed. My husband lightly bumped his head on it. The pros are definitely the location and the front desk was very nice and professional. Also, the rooftop restaurant has AMAZING! These factors were 5 star, so overall it helped to bump the overall rating of this hotel. I'd still definitely stay here again, but understanding that the design is a little different then other Andaz properties.

Yelp
Highly recc stay here. We loved the rooftop pool. Love the rooftop brunch. Upon checking in the staff provided complimentary wine. It was a great way to get greeted after a long ways to get to that front door. Our stay was amazing and housekeeping did such a great job for our room service. Requests for items and supplies were easy via app and quick after requesting for them.

Yelp
No one to help with luggage, no liquor in the room, and not even an hr given for late checkout. Would not stay here again.

Yelp
Great location!! We arrived to the hotel on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised to see/feel the vibe of the Gaslamp Quarter!! And the Andaz is smack-dab in the middle of it! With that being said, expect it to be noisy throughout the night and early morning hours but the hotel has sound machines in the rooms and ear plugs if you need them. For us, the sound machine worked just fine. Room was clean and decent size. They have a fantastic roof top bar w/ ample outdoor seating and a giant firepit to relax by while taking in the views of the skyline. The staff were all friendly and check-in went smooth. Great location to take in all the Gaslamp Qtr has to offer and a quick walk to the San Diego waterfront. Close to airport as well. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Andaz is nice! The staff is very friendly! My team stayed here for work and they were able to arrange for the 4 of our rooms to be on the same floor last minute. The decor is beautiful, valet is quick, front desk is attentive, what more can you ask for! The room was spotless and cozy! I would absolutely stay here again!

Yelp
Just returned from a stay in San Diego and we were so pleased with our experience at the Andaz. Karla was so helpful getting us checked in and provided great service. Looking forward to visiting again!

Yelp
Do not leave your vehicle with Valet service. I found out that there are missing items from my vehicle after retrieve my vehicle. Trying to let the management knows what happened but it seems they do not care because the third party is operating valet service. I left my vehicle with Valet service without any second thought because it is worldwide hotel chain. but it is my mistake toI trusted them 100%. Stay away from this hotel and management.

Yelp
This hotel was everything and more! I travel often and my hotel is an important part of my trip because I like to feel "at home" and comfortable. This hotel exceeded all expectations. Our flight landed early in the morning so we decided we'll just drop our bags off at check in and hit the streets. Upon arrival to the hotel we were told we could check in early at that moment AND our room was upgraded at no additional charge. I was blown away by this. The room was very spacious and clean. The staff was great. The rooftop bar was nice but the staff was slow and not as attentive. Pool area is small but we only went once during our stay. I would definitely return and recommend this hotel.

Yelp
This was during the height of covid and housekeeping was by request. The room was clean and well decorated. The shower with multiple heads was AMAZING AND NOT TO BE MISSED! We greatly appreciated the complimentary drinks and snacks. We didn't get to enjoy the rest of the amenities like the restaurant or pool, but guess that leaves more to be explored on our next stay. Huzzah!

Yelp
This was a great hotel to stay at for a couple nights with friends. So close to everything downtown and the staff is crazy friendly it's perfect. Shoutout whoever let me borrow glue for my heel - which saved our entire night to go out. I would be back again for sure

Yelp
3.5 stars but more 3 than 4 for the hotel itself. This Andaz is located in the heart of Gaslamp so it's a great place to stay when it comes to location location location. All the food and drinks within walking distance makes it so convenient. Valet parking here is expensive though at $52/vehicle. The lobby area is small but modern. They offered complimentary wines when we checked in, which was a nice touch. The vibe of this place is reminiscent of the W chain of hotels. We booked two double rooms, and I've never stayed in a double room with a double bed as small as these. The mattresses were comfy, but the pillows were way too high and stiff. Walls are a bit thin, but they provide earplugs by every nightstand. The rooftop bar/lounge is nice too! Great place to hangout and relax when you're done with Gaslamp. Wouldn't mind staying here again, but I wouldn't consider this a super luxurious experience.

Yelp
Used the resort pass for their rooftop pool/bar and had the most friendliest and fun waitress Keilani! She was so attentive and helpful, definitely a keeper for the company! The rooftop pool was very nice with a cool view! Definitely will be coming back

Yelp
We brought our experience to maintenance team who were fixing an issue... They sprung into action... went out of the way to make it right! Great Team. Also the hotel executive chef was fantastic... They had left a fruit basket and some dessert (in spite of us insisting on not wanting anything) when we had gone out for the evening

Yelp
Celebrated our anniversary here in San Diego and as a Hyatt Globalist, it was a no brainer but to stay in the Gaslamp Quarters at the Andaz by Hyatt. At check in, Bryan truly accommodated us by giving us an upgrade to make our anniversary stay a memorable one. The room was spacious and clean. Even though we had no city view, we very much enjoyed our room and stay at the Andaz.

Yelp
I originally wanted to give Andaz SD 3 stars, but I think the factors that I didn't like in Andaz hotel SD is not from Andaz itself, it's the environment around the hotel. The hotel itself is pretty good. It has a very convenient location in downtown San Diego. The room is very cozy. We had a 1 King Bed Deluxe room in the 4th floor. The host was super friendly, she provided us a complementary drink right away. And gave us the warning that the noise from outside we may encounter at night and gave us the solution with ear plugs. She even sent us to the elevator after check-in with hotel. They have a rooftop pool, bar and restaurant, where we had the breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was pretty good. At downstair, there is a STK Steak house that we had a dinner at Sunday night, was pretty good. Hotel has valet parking at the front entrance. The disadvantage is the bar which crossing the street down to our window, it was too much noise at night and made us couldn't sleep at all until 5am. I was not sure if it's Saturday night special event or something, the whole night, we heard very loud talking, shouting and siren on and off. We checked the windows, the shades and the curtains all closed complete, but it felt like we were just outside the building. In the beginning, I thought only our room faced the bar had this issue, but next morning, when we talked to our friends who had a room in the other side of building heard the same noise and stated that "The Hotel gives you the living on the edge experience". And they almost wanted leave the hotel without staying the other night because of those loud noise at night. We asked the staff next day why there were so much noise at night, they didn't really gave us any explanations. I guess they couldn't do much since they don't own the bar crossing the street. My advice is if you a night person, this hotel should be OK for you, but if you need a good sleep without any noise, this hotel may not be a good idea. I maybe wrong since I only stayed there at one Saturday night, not sure how quite on other days.

Yelp
I recently stayed at Andaz San Diego and unfortunately, it wasn't exactly the experience I had wished for. We decided to upgrade our room upon arrival, but on entering we stepped into a puddle in the bathroom and that was pretty gross. We then turned on the bathroom light and observed a leakage in the bathroom running down the floor with a brown puddle. Our call to the reception was not answered which forced us to clean our feet and grabbed all of our belongings back down to the hotel lobby. We were assisted by a different staff member, whom upon hearing our complaint quickly moved us to another room on the same floor. While the switch was hugely appreciated, there were other problems in this new room: The desk and mini-bar area were highly dusty, not exactly what one hopes for in a hotel of this quality. It gives the impression that cleanliness is not taken as seriously as it ought to be. We were then awakened at about 2 am to some extremely loud noise; presumably from music somewhere, because through the walls, we could feel the bass. This disrupted our sleep and really impacted our overall stay. I was expecting a much better experience, especially upgrading as I did; unfortunately, this turned out to be not great because of issues in cleanliness and noise. We love staying with Hyatt Hotels and have chosen Hyatt for most of our vacation stays. However, we will not likely be staying at Andaz San Diego in the future.

Yelp
HOTEL 5/5, but the Location is 0/5 **** UNFORTUNATELY, this hotel is literally across from "Tent City" now; it's so sad to have these views from your room, so our curtains stayed closed. The Andaz is so lovely, yet the location is very scary....Downtown San Diego's unsheltered population continues to grow, so sad. The Hotel is near Gaslamp (one block) away, which is convenient. The STK restaurant above on the rooftop has the best food, and the pool is cute. Parking is $60 a day (too steep).

Yelp
This review is specifically for the roof top. My family from OC came to visit and they often stay in downtown. They said the service and rooms are way better here than Hilton! We attempted to eat at the rooftop for breakfast but ended up going down the street to experience downtown life. The rooftop restaurant is STK. The outdoor patio is modern with furniture and on the hidden side by the bar is a small 3 feet pool and cabanas. The view was all angles is also very nice. For a second, we forgot we were in downtown surrounded by homeless population. Once you enter the lobby and go to the pool, the decor is modern chic. You get to vacation in style. For parking, they have valet but depends on what time of day, you can find plenty of free street parking. Just be aware that there's an increase in homeless population in this area.

My favorite hotel in San Diego. This hotel has the best vibes in all of Downtown! Also, check them out for San Diego Pride Weekend!! They have an amazing pool party on the rooftop. Thanks Andaz. San Diego. we'll be back.

Yelp
This hotel is a bit of a walk to get to the convention center and seaport area. The noise level makes it really challenging to get sleep. The front desk gives you a warning and provides ear plugs but it was still a problem.
