The 38 Best Restaurants in Dublin, Ireland | Eater

"Andhra Bhavan brings a bold, canteen-style taste of southern India to Dublin 1 at unbeatable prices. The gunpowder dosa is a must; it’s crisp, golden, and packing a hit of spice, served with coconut, peanut, and ginger chutneys. Thalis offer the full spectrum of textures and flavors: creamy dal, fiery lamb curry, crisp fried cabbage, and mellow paneer that rounds it all out. Start with mirchi bajji (fried green chiles dusted with peanuts) or pani puri for a tangy crunch. It’s the kind of place you’ll return to again and again. Best for: A thali with your mates." - Corinna Hardgrave

My first visit to Andhra Bhavan was nothing short of spectacular, proving that some experiences are truly worth the wait. Despite standing in line for over an hour to secure a table, the moment the food arrived, any memory of the wait evaporated—the experience was utterly rewarding. The culinary quality here is exceptional. Every dish we sampled was expertly seasoned, showcasing perfectly balanced spices that celebrate genuine South Indian authenticity. The portions are substantial and the ingredients are fresh, making every bite flavorful and completely satisfying. While everything was incredible, I would especially highly recommend the lamb biryanis to anyone looking for rich, aromatic flavors. Two dishes, in particular, stood out as highlights of the meal. The Pepper Lamb Fry was outstanding, featuring robust, fiery flavor paired with a remarkably tender texture. Meanwhile, the Gunpowder Masala Dosa was a delightful masterpiece—perfectly crisp and generously coated in spicy gunpowder, leaving a delightful and lasting impression. Beyond the food, the ambience and service contributed significantly to the memorable evening. The staff handled the busy environment efficiently, and our server, Prachi, provided the pinnacle of customer service. She was polite, attentive, and quick, ensuring we felt well cared for throughout our meal. Andhra Bhavan is a genuine celebration of quality and tradition. I will undoubtedly be back again soon to dive deeper into their menu.

I visited Andhra Bhavan today without any reservation and was pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious . I had mutton pepper fry, idli, vada, sambar, and dosa, and everything was perfectly cooked and full of authentic flavour. It turned out to be a wonderful dinner overall. A special mention to our waiter, Pashri who was exceptionally respectful, kind, and gentle throughout our visit. Her warm service really added to the experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving genuine South Indian food!

The special Thali (hand for scale), pani puri and samosas. The thali here was a platter of incredible variation of dishes, all unique, flavourful, and delicious. This was way more different dishes than I expected, plus two type of rice and two parathas hidden under the poppadom. Don't ask me to name or say what I ate as I'm clueless, but it was all delectable. 🙈 They also had gulab for dessert, as well as something that reminded me of sweet bean paste, but with chocolate added. Samosas were great, but the pani puri was fantastic. I've had them once before elsewhere so didn't think they'd be that much different, but these were way better, fresh and balanced. The waitress was super helpful, including letting us know which dishes had tomato in them, and giving us an extra gulab when we asked, as the thali only came with one.

Our booking didn't go through but the staff at Andhra Bhavan was extremely kind to get us a table and serve us amazing Indian food. Prachi a staff that looked after us was so kind to run through intolerance my husband had with the chef to ensure he was able to eat something good. The atmosphere and staff made me feel home on the day of Deepavali.

I went here because I was craving the thali, and to be honest, I was not at all disappointed (you can see in the photo attached). They served a good variety of dishes, and each one was flavorful. The only thing I noticed compared to the other location is that the portions felt a bit smaller, and the thali was warm but not piping hot. Other than that, no complaints—the experience was solid overall, and the pricing (around €23) felt fair for what you get. Food – 4/5 Plenty of variety in the thali and everything tasted good. Just wish it had been served hotter. Ambience – 4/5 Simple and straightforward, nothing fancy, but comfortable enough to sit and enjoy your meal. Value for Money – 4/5 At about €23 for a thali, it’s fairly priced considering the variety and taste

Comfort food heaven — highly recommend! Andhra Bhavan is a busy spot, and for good reason — the food is absolutely delicious. The aroma hits you the moment you walk in, and it instantly feels like home. Every dish we tried was flavorful and comforting — just what you’d hope for from authentic Indian cuisine. It’s definitely a popular place, so I’d recommend booking ahead, especially on weekends. Despite the rush, the service was smooth. A special mention to the gentleman at the entrance — warm, welcoming, and very polite, which set the tone for a great meal. This will definitely be my go-to place for comfort Indian food in the city. Can’t wait to return!

Had a fantastic dining experience at Andhra Bhavan! The food was absolutely excellent—bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. The service was lightning fast, which made everything smooth and hassle-free. The Indian-themed decor added a vibrant and cultural touch to the atmosphere, making the place feel both cozy and unique. The staff were super sweet and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in. Must-try dishes: The Chicken Biryani was rich and aromatic, and the Chicken Lollipops were crispy, flavorful, and addictive! Overall: A very happy customer here. 100% recommended if you’re in Dublin and craving quality Indian food with great service.
