The 38 Best Restaurants in New Delhi, India | Eater

"Price Range: $$ Delhi’s favorite thali restaurant is a bustling, raucous affair that dishes out more than 3,000 plates a day. Andhra Bhavan brings home-style cooking from the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh — the home of some of the spiciest food in the country — to diners in the capital. Get a thali, which consists of rice, pooris (deep-fried flatbreads), and two kinds of lentils, along with fragrant sambhar (lentils cooked with vegetables) and the spicy tamarind soup known as rasam. Like other thali specialists, the restaurant offers unlimited vegetables, as well as chutneys made from beetroot, yam, and okra. Best for: A Sunday afternoon when you’ve got an empty stomach. Custom demands you eat several portions and finish everything on your plate." - Sharanya Deepak

"Traditional Andhra Breakfast at AP Bhavan Andhra Pradesh Bhavan (or AP Bhavan), as the name suggests, offers traditional dishes from the state of Andhra Pradesh. AP Bhavan is absolutely packed on weekends with lines of 100+ people waiting for an authentic taste of thalis and biryani. The space is more like a canteen instead of restaurant and an unlimited thali will cost under $2/person. Biryani is served on Sundays, but visit by noon. There is very little elbow room past 1pm."

It’s one of the most hyped place but i found food below average. We had lunch meals which costed 220/- per head which is reasonable but taste wasn’t as good as expected. It’s near India gate, don’t plan to go there specially. The only thing I liked about surroundings of restaurant which gives you feel of old times south India, even policemen wearing Andhra police uniforms😊

I ordered biryani. Biryani was very delicious and flavourful. The staff initially tries to speak in their native language but dont worry they are very polite and also speak in Hindi. The place has waiting line sometimes mostly during rush hours

This is the best Bhavan restaurant in the whole of Delhi. For vegetarians a sumptuous Thali and for non vegetarians the Chicken Dum Biriyani. No other Bhavan will match the price and taste combination. this is the only restaurant that is liked both by me (vegetarian) and my Son (Non-vegetarian). The only issue is the crowd during Lunch hours understandable because of the location and price taste balance.

Let's start with the food. Hands down, the best Andhra food you'll find in Delhi. There's no competition there. Veg meals 5/5 The thali is absolutely delicious. Each and every item is good. Savory kura (sabzi) to dessert (pineapple kesari bath), it's finger licking good. Recommended! Chicken biryani 5/5 I don't like most of the biriyani sold in Delhi. The biriyani here is nothing like you've tasted in popular biryani places. Everything in the biriyani is balanced. I am going to say this is the perfect biriyani. Must try. Recommended! Now let's come to cons: 1. Hard to find parking in this area. Took us sometime to find a good spot. If anyone has any tips regarding this, please do let me know! 2. Wait time! Ridiculous wait time and insane crowd. Be prepared for longer wait times during weekends. But overall, i definitely recommended this place. The food is worth the wait!

Although the food is supposed to be good, I find it not that exceptional as much as it's hyped. It's good in the sense that it's not bad, and you will probably not mind eating that. But at a budget, you can get the taste of Telangana.. which is not a bad deal. The servers are really quick and nice. The place can do with some renovation to make it look a bit more hygienic.

We’ve visited here for lunch at 2:45Pm at that time almost dishes were completed. If you’re looking for pure South Indian flavour then you can visit here but you should go early to get all the items.

Had breakfast at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan Canteen recently at Rs. 140/- which consists of one small Masala Dosa, one piece each of Idli and a Vada and option of having one cup of tea/coffee/milk (fixed menu); with unlimited sambhar and chatni quality of which was just OK. Mind it, it is a canteen and not a restaurant; do not expect good ambiance and neat and clean washrooms. Best part is its location which is situated primarily near the Iconic India Gate. Canteen opens at 8 am; one can walk early morning near India Gate and then have BF here.

Authentic Andhra Food at Its Best! If you’re craving real South Indian flavors in Delhi, this place is perfect. The vegetarian thali is super tasty and unlimited—just like home-cooked food. Non-veg lovers should try their chicken or mutton fry—spicy and full of flavor! It’s clean, fast, and affordable. Gets crowded during lunch hours, but totally worth the wait.
