Joe Vicari Restaurant Group pays $88,000 for minimum wage and child labor violations | Eater Detroit

"This Bloomfield location was included in the Department of Labor probe (covering June 1, 2020–May 31, 2022 for this site) that contributed to the employer being required to reimburse 127 employees across multiple restaurants; the broader investigation identified below-minimum cash wages for non-tipped workers, overtime and recordkeeping violations for cash-paid staff, and a child-labor violation involving a 15-year-old working too late and exceeding permitted daily hours. The operator says payroll errors occurred during the pandemic and have since been corrected." - Serena Maria Daniels

We had an amazing dinner at Andiamo! Our server was Nicholas and he was very personable and helpful! He explained it all and we never needed to ask for anything! Great service! Who wanted a shrimp cocktail, but he brought us some special shrimp dish that wasn’t on the menu that was delicious. We also had the gnocchi and also the fettuccine alfredo pasta! All the food was great, in the live music was also really good!

We had a great experience at Adiamo this week. The food was excellent, both with meat or vegetarian. My chicken parmesan was excellent, flavorful, fresh tomato sauce with a large serving of tender chicken. The bread and bread sticks were fresh and hard to stop eating. The wine selection was excellent, table service the same. A few beer options in bottles. The final impressive offering was the dessert cart. It is not an inexpensive place to eat, but priced fairly for the quality delivered.

I don’t usually write reviews, but Michelle absolutely deserves one. From the second she approached our table, she set a tone that made us feel like VIPs. She somehow balanced being lightning-fast, incredibly attentive, and genuinely warm without ever hovering. Every detail was flawless — she knew the menu inside and out, anticipated our needs before we even asked, and made each of us feel like we were her only table, even though the restaurant was packed. Michelle has that rare mix of professionalism and personality: she’s sharp, witty, and effortlessly kind. Drinks never hit empty, food came out exactly as ordered, and when a friend had a special request, she handled it like it was no trouble at all. Honestly, she turned a simple dinner into a full-on experience. If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would. Michelle is the kind of waitress who makes you want to come back to Andiamo.

Google
My experience here was great. We arrived a little earlier than we reserved, but we were still accommodated. The staff here is friendly and the food was great. I had the 20oz steak med/well that comes with mushrooms and onions on top, potatoes mixed with zucchini. The salad with the house dressing had a good taste. The bread with the oil was good and fresh. My friend had some kind of shrimp pasta. They loved it. The free cannoli I received for my birthday was good as well. This place is pricey, but it's worth it.

Google
One of my favorite spots! The pasta is always cooked just right, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The customer service is consistently top-notch — professional and welcoming. Great place to enjoy a quality meal whether you’re with friends, family, or on your own. Highly recommend!

We recently hosted a bridal shower at Andiamo. I was more than impressed with the entire process from planning to completion. Tracey, their event manager, answered every question I had promptly. On the day of the shower, Michael was invaluable to us! The wait staff was excellent, as well. Tables were all set and ready for us to add decor as we arrived. Guests were able to choose from 4 different entrees, which was unusual compared to other places we checked out. The food was very good and more than anybody could eat. Overall, a great place to host an event.

Google
The entire experience here was lovely. I went with my family, we are a party of 7 and we were accommodated beautifully. The only thing better than our food was the service. The host and waitress were so lovey. Couldn’t have had a better experience or meal!

Google
The service is great, attentive and kind. Food delivery was slow, and the food just okay. Duck was dry, pasta too salty, cool whip instead of whipped cream on the dessert. Manager offered to bring different food, but who wants to wait after already waiting an hour? They packed up the dining room so it could be vacuumed 30 minutes before close.

Yelp
The food was good and the presentation was even better. The staff in the service was very knowledgeable and very friendly. The restaurant was very clean.

David G.

Yelp
The white fish was served in "scraps". 2 of us ordered white fish and both of us were not served a whole fish. We were both served scraps. I called the manager over and explained and he said that next time we should tell the server we want a whole fish (one piece). He offered nothing for our displeasure. He could have offered free dessert or coffee or something! Disappointing!!

Yelp
We made a 7pm dinner reservation to celebrate our anniversary. They had asked my husband if we were celebrating anything at the time he made the reservation so he told them. We arrived a bit early but they were able to seat us. They hadn't reserved a nice booth or anything, even though they knew it was a special occasion. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant at a 4 top where they proceeded to clear the other 2 place settings while we sat down and watched. They were numerous open tables so I'm not sure there is a point to reserving a table or providing information about a special occasion. The gentleman pouring water came to the table, poured my husband's glass first, picked up my glass, turned to another guest at another table to answer a question, put my empty glass down, wandered off for a moment, then came back to pour my water. Why is it so hard for restaurants to teach a basic service lesson...ladies are served first. And secondly, at a fine dining establishment, unless there is a fire, the server should complete the task they are handling before moving on to another table's request. Our (meal) server was very nice. He also asked if we were celebrating anything special (apparently, the hosts don't communicate this information) and took our drink order. At no point was the restaurant going to do anything about our celebration so I really struggle to understand why they asked...twice. They brought bread and oil...I love a good bread basket and was really surprised they didn't serve sourdough or focaccia. It was a warmed loaf type bread and some bread sticks. Despite the bread not being more flavorful, it was at least served warm. There are lots of choices on the menu. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts and the clams for appetizers and Five Pepper Chicken and Tortellini for entrees. The artichoke hearts are cooked and presented uniquely but they weren't fully fried - just sort of flattened in a pan. The sauce that was on the plate was really good. My husband had the clams - they were like a clam version of crabcakes, but served in the clam shell. He said they were good but nothing special. The Five Pepper Chicken is actually a pasta dish - panko fried chicken on top a bed of Angel hair pasta with slivers of red, orange, and yellow peppers. It's a very large portion. The chicken was really good - panko breading is my favorite. My husband had the tortellini - he did not like it at all - he said it was very basic tasting. Because of how the evening went and how unimpressed we were with the food (which is seriously overpriced for what you get) we opted to skip dessert. I used to go to all of the Andiamo restaurants in Oakland County years ago but they began to close one by one. We came back to this one hoping to have a nice anniversary dinner and finally return to a place I used to enjoy. I was so disappointed with everything, and felt the price wasn't worth what we got, that I just don't see returning.

Yelp
I returned to Andiamo and enjoyed another lovely dinner! The atmosphere was lively, including a fantastic vocalist at the bar area. In addition to the sautéed portobello mushrooms and very large sausage and peppers appetizers, I loved the garlicky gnocchi with shrimp entree. Andiamo is still a great dinning experience!

Yelp
Great service and ambience here at Andiamo. The whole table thought our food was delicious. The bread service is nice, we could go without the breadsticks in the basket though haha! The table side pasta is always a good expierence. We will ask for light truffle next time we come. I'll come back and I'd recommend you try it out!

Yelp
Came here for dinner not long before Christmas, and this place does not disappoint. The food: check. Had the filet, cooked perfectly. The apps, awesome. And the cheesecake was excellent. Also had the kit-kat bar and coconut cake for dessert, not so good. The cake was quite dry. The service is very good here and attentive. The ambiance is very nice, and can be romantic. I'd come back!

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance are always great. Menu is varied and there are lots of tasty choices. Happy Hour is really fun

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed our lunch here. We were seated in a booth. The dining room is bright and open, yet private and intimate. Our server was Anthony, he was kind and friendly. We started with the Suppli. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We dipped our bites with the sauce, they were delicious. I got the garden salad, topped with fresh ground pepper and Parmesan cheese. My husband tried the minestrone soup. Both of them were great and tasted fresh. For our lunches, I got the 6oz filet with potatoes and vegetables. My husband got the same. We ate everything! Each dish came out fresh, tasted great, and our service was excellent. We've always loved Andiamo and have enjoyed many wonderful dining experiences here. Today was no different. I highly recommend stopping in for a meal. You're sure to have a great time!

Yelp
It started off well turned but turned into a nightmare. The ladies at the bar are lovely, but there was a very foul mouth cocky man engaging in profanity/vociferous language. I asked one of the ladies to address the issue. She didn't do anything. I kept looking over at him as though he were offensive he could care less. I had an 84-year-old woman sitting on the other side of me who was offended as well. He caught me snapping a picture. It was such an uncomfortable experience so We ended up leaving. I can't believe for a high establishment place that we patronize frequently that guests these are tolerated. Management and of lack of employee response is unacceptable.

Marie K.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday a while ago. The food was wonderful. I ended up having the Alfredo. We also ended up trying Olivia's chicken. Our server was very kind and made sure we were taken care of. I would definitely recommend this place to people.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
I give this four stars because the service and atmosphere were both excellent. Nice wine selections. Went with co-workers and we got fried calamari and sausage and peppers as appetizers. I got the frutti de mare, and while the seafood was good, the "red sauce" wasn't all that good. Same for the sausage and same for the calamari. I grew up in an Italian family, and feel it didn't have much flavor to it. As my Italian mother would say. "Meh". Some others had the Pollo Olivio and really liked it, so maybe next time I will skip anything "marinara" and try a different entree.

Gasby B.

Yelp
Real or Fake? The Ribeye is questionable. Two giveaways: 1) No Marbling(what Ribeye is known for) and 2) Pre designed Grill marks. When I complained to the General Manager, he was nasty and defensive which reminded me of the phrase "Thou protests too much"-- a sign of guilt. If you want a real insteak choose Morton's or Ruth's Chris.

Yelp
Ok this review is based on total non-service. Over Independence Day weekend, we wanted to celebrate with some Italian food. We ordered takeout online--fettucini alfredo and lasagna meals, with 2 minestrone soups. The ap took our order and also demanded our credit card as payment. The ap said it would take 50 minutes for our order to be ready, and later updated this to say it would be ready at 7:01. I arrived at 6:58 only to find the restaurant CLOSED! It is now 7:30. I have been driving all over Oakland County. I have not eaten and yet you took my money. Who was that answering our order and saying when it would be ready? Was this caused by incopetence or deliberate deception? I urge everyone reading this --DO NOT ORDER TAKEOUT HERE!! Andiamo--any thoughts for me? And yes. As you might guess.... I am very very unhappy.

Yelp
Came here with a party of four- our server was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable and very very polite. The ambiance was nice inside & not too loud. For the appetizer, we got the burrata, which came on a paper napkin? I'm not sure if this is standard or a mistake but I'm not sure why you would ever want a paper napkin to soak up all the good stuff from the burrata. We also got calamari- which had fried banana peppers that looked like calamari- definitely my first experience eating banana peppers with calamari but it was decent. I got the short rib for my dinner which was significantly lacking salt & was super oily. The food was ok, if someone else was paying, I'd come back again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend to anyone.

Yelp
Decided to have a late dinner , besides the hostess, being very cold and unwelcoming, everything else was great. The staff don't seem to smile . Luckily, Our waitress Michelle was excellent even though the food was very slow. The food was delicious. They have great bread and breadsticks. Took them home to my groundhog Frankie, he loves them too!

Frank B.

Yelp
Four in our party went on a Saturday night. The place was hoppin! Band was playing it was cool. Place was packed. Lucky we had reservations. We had Scallops and Risotto. Braised short ribs. Salad. Minestrone soup. Lasagna and a whole Rosemary chicken. Food was top notch. Our server Janelle was excellent. Huge props. Only problem was it took too long for the entrees to come out. But that is nit picky. Great food and ambience. We will be back.

Yelp
I have been a customer at Andiamo's for 30+ years. In fact, I was a member of their dining club, Gratzie until it was eliminated. I have had showers, parties, etc. in the Bloomfield location. I was also a frequent customer during Covid to help Andiamo's stay afloat during the difficult time. However, that opinion has changed. The prices seem to keep increasing substantially; in March a plain, meatless pasta dish was $29. Most recently, Andiamo's sent me a text announcing a BOGO for Sunday, September 1st (since they were going to be closed on Labor Day). As instructed, I made a reservation online in the text. I also confirmed the reservation in a phone call on Sunday. When I arrived at 7:20 for a 7:30 p.m. reservation, neither hostess could find the reservation, nor could the manager. I explained to the front desk I followed the instructions inside the text message and although they said they have had trouble with "Open Table" they did not have any room, "they were totally booked". I then suggested maybe a carry out and was told Andiamo's would not honor the BOGO for the carry out and the wait time was between 45-60 minutes. I know the mission is to "create made-from-scratch, simple fine Italian dining with the freshest seasonal ingredients every day" but what happened to Andiamo's customer satisfaction & customer service, and fair pricing? I will not continue to be a frequent dinner in the near future if every again.

Yelp
A fairly mediocre Italian restaurant. The worst is their poor wine selections, but, after all, it's Michigan, not California
google avatar

Yelp
I go to this particular location a lot. I love the bar area/I love the entertainment! The staff is always polite. The Bolognese pasta is absolutely five star! The biggest disappointment here they do not have a quality minestrone soup which I don't understand why?? Its absolutely horrible... I am Armenian and I can make an outstanding minestrone.. just by going on the Internet! Which I did today it's easy!‍ pasta, nice vegetables, beans, broth, Italian seasoning, fresh herbs. to Andiamos chef here, please ..you can do better I want to see a quality minestrone at one of my favorite restaurants! Here is mine

Yelp
The food was amazing. I enjoyed the Frutti di Mare Fruits of the Sea Pasta Pan seared scallops, mussels, shrimp, calamari, garlic, white wine, tomato, homemade pasta which was exceptional. It was more than I could eat in one sitting. We split a colossal shrimp for an appetizer. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. Mask were required when not eating and everyone was adhering to that. If I return to the area this is definitely on my stop.

Mitch K.

Yelp
Been coming to various forms of this location for nearly 50 years. Always felt welcome. Not this time. The waitress was very slow to the table in the bar. She forgot to put in our order -was rude after she discovered her mistake. Kind of like they didn't want us there. The food was still good.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my father's birthday, and we had a great time. Michelle is our absolute favorite waitress to have, and she always makes sure we have the best dining experience. The food was delicious, and the drinks were good too. The salmon was literally melt in your mouth good. I'm biased to the tiramisu being the best dessert there, but the others were great also.

Kyleen C.

Yelp
We ordered carry out two nights ago, 3 lasagna, 2 Mr Aldo's bolognese a fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and a fettuccine Alfredo. 1) we were missing a lasagna, 2) the portion sizes were really disappointing and small. 3) mr Aldo's bolognese was so boring, very bland and not a lot of flavor, 4) they didn't give us any bread at all! The bread is what we look forward to the most and 5) the minestrone soup sides had leaked all over the bag and everything under it. All in all, super disappointing and probably won't return.

Pam H.

Yelp
Took a Bloomfield Hills client to lunch at Andiamo's. Superior service and with Nicholas as the head server there is no way we could've gone wrong. Definitely will return when in town for business

Angela C.

Yelp
We celebrated my dads 80th birthday here, and all the guess raved about the food & service. Special shout out to Anthony for his attentive service. Our party grow from 14 to 22 people, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating in managing the changes in our plans. It was my first time there Rocky and the team were best in class. Thank you making my Dad's day so special.

Yelp
I love the colossal shrimp, but this time it was cold and the bread was so hard that I could not cUt through it. The really nice bartender brought me over some nice warm bread to make up for I it. Thank goodness, Aldi brought over some fresh and soft bread. The bread served with the shrimp is a toast, like a slice of baguette, but you should be able to cut thorough it. So, not one of the better days at Andiamo's. The wine, a Malbec, very good, the calamari and minestrone soup was veery good. My friends love the straight up margarita, looks great. Just not happy about the bread, it should not have been sent out. Or, the chef or someone should have inquired about my concerns.

Dominique D.

Yelp
This is the same message sent to the owner of Andiamo: This was by far the worst dinning experience I have had in my life. My family and I were in town for a funeral of a loved one. We had expected a nice family dinner to ease some of the tension and pain that my family was experiencing after leaving the funeral home. We are accustomed to high-end restaurants and having fresh pasta while traveling in Italy. The experience of dinning at Andiamo Bloomfield made our day worst and was by-far below standards for a restaurant within this price range. After getting out of the car, I fell on the lifted step pavement in the driveway of Andiamo, right in front of the door of the restaurant. This should have been a warning to me... Before coming, I called for a reservation and asked for a booth. When we walked in we were greeted by a hostess who seemed to have a bit of an attitude and gossiping with a co-worker. She sat us at a table in the middle of the room instead of the booth, that we reserved. At this point, I went back to the front desk to ask someone else why we weren't seated in a booth and if we could instead be seated in a corner at a larger table (Specifically for my father, who is disabled, to have accommodating space, as well as conversational space while still in a state of mourning after attending a viewing for a loved one earlier in the day). It was odd to see the general manager, Rocky Mestari, at the front desk instead of managing the staff. His demeanor was very aggressive mixed with unfriendly and misogynistic from the beginning. He said he couldn't find my reservation and seemed to be scrambling. I had to show him the text I received from the restaurant showing my reservation for him to believe that I had made a reservation. There were multiple things that were wrong with the experience my family and I had at the Andiamo Bloomfield restaurant. I spoke directly to Rocky Mestari, the general manager about these issues within his restaurant. He had no remorse, empathy or compensation for the overall terrible experience at his restaurant. They are as follows: 1. Demeanor of all staff and conversation slightly racist jokes made at an attempt to lighten the mood. The personality type within this location doesn't fit the caliber of the restaurant with the hostess, general manager and staff talking badly about guest in front of guest. There was not a happy demeanor inside the restaurant but instead an annoyed mood amongst the staff. 2. The staff was not knowledgeable to their own menu. I was served a Lambrusco that was flat. The second glass I received was bubbly. I asked the waitress why this was and she stated, "it was probably because the bar tender had opened a new bottle." I told the general manager about this (along with other complaints) and he told me "there was nothing wrong with the glass I was served, it was served correctly and he was not going to do anything about it. And the experience I had was a good experience." The misogynist tone in his voice as he mansplained and disregarded my own experience was unsettling. 3. Due to the unpleasant experience we were having, another server stepped in to help our table out. She was very lovely, friendly and personable probably the only person in the restaurant that understood the persona of a well trained server. She offered to pay for two dessert for the table to help with the bad experience. It was my understanding, she was paying, out of her pocket, for these two desserts. None of the three managers ever came over once, to try to make the experience a little better through conversation, compensation or explanation. This experience was not a one-off experience. Listed on the Andiamo Bloomfield Yelp account multiple people have mentioned the bad service and terrible experience they have had while dinning at this location. I would advise others to save their money and not waste it on a guaranteed bad experience at this Andiamo location.

Yelp
Never had a bad experience here. Love the live music they have every Friday. Ladies at the bar are very nice and get you want you want. The food is fresh and delicious.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience. Our waiter, Avery was an absolute delight and provided the BEST service we've had in a long time. I have celiac disease and he was so quick to note that almost anything could be made gluten free. He even brought me gluten free bread! We did have a slight issue with my steak but as soon as we told Avery, he quickly fixed it for me without hesitation. After dinner, he brought out a dessert and champagne toast for my birthday (without us asking about any specials or anything). The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Absolutely recommend coming here and if you have a gluten allergy, it is safe and delicious.

Yelp
This was my first time here, but it's one of my aunt's favorite restaurants, so she took me for my birthday. We went at an odd time -- 4:00 on a Friday afternoon, so it was nearly empty. I was impressed with everything on the menu; it was hard to choose. I ended up getting Pollo Olivia, and it was wonderful. The vegetables were plentiful and crisp, the chicken was tender, and the sauce was delicious. I also enjoyed the salad. I wish the bread had come out a little sooner, but otherwise, it was very good.

Smita A.

Yelp
We have been going to Andiamo's for over 2 decades. It used to be iconic Bloomfield Hills restaurant to go. Lately its been only going down. Went to dinner last night (June 13 2023) with a bunch of ladies and it was really not a good experience over all. The serivce and food were both bad. I ordered a "pasta all-andiamo" to go for my daughter and the waiter was beyond rude. She said I had to pick the pasta and sauce and kept being dismissive, was slow and unresponsive, and then the box came without any soup or salad. If its an entree then it should have come with all the sides. I can't believe i spent $40 dollars on the worst looking pasta I've ever seen and rude wait staff. Michelle then even added a 20% tip to the separate take out order (the order for the in person dinner was entirely separate). Never again.

Yelp
Carrabba's has better food. There, I said it! The vibe here is definitely the older crowd (like "early bird special" older.) My braised short ribs were tender but extremely bland. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to eat it. The white onion soup needed tons of salt as well and was basically a raw onion bomb and inedible. Any good chef knows you have to cook the green onions in the broth not just throw them in raw at the end. Who enjoys eating raw onions? Nobody! The tuxedo chocolate cake was good so thank God for dessert. The service was fine but the lackluster food and elderly vibe will make this my last time here.

Yelp
Four of us arrived at about 1pm this past Thursday. We were willing to step up to a more formal luncheon after a ceremony at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. The restaurant has an elegant but reserved interior sort of in the idiom of a classic supper club. The hostess and the server were very professional and attentive. The food was excellent. The Bolognese was so fresh, the salmon was tasty and huge, the chicken breast special of Chef Aldo was strong, and I can't recall what Zita had but she was impressed. I recommend the white onion soup but it was actually too much as the meal portions are rather large. I can give this restaurant an unqualified recommendation for quality and value. It is a testament to the ownership/management of this organization that they can maintain such quality while operating five or more establishments. Kudos and thanks.

Yelp
We stopped in here recently on a Saturday night without reservations and got seated promptly. Incredible meal. Service was a bit slow, but the place is huge and that was easily forgiven. I did order three different cocktails as the first two they couldn't make, but then finally got one that was quite good. The calamari app was excellent - perfectly cooked and super flavorful. I opted for the braised short rib seasonal pasta, and it was excellent. Big flavors on everything, good service, highly recommend. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food was out of this world, the service was excellent, and the ambience was perfect. What I loved about the place is they did not try to hide the fact that Jimmy Hoffa got snatched there, but they have a dish as well as a drink named after him. Gotta love a business like this that has a sense of humor! :-)

Yelp
We regularly dine at Andiamo in Bloomfield, but last night was over the top. I am gluten free, not by choice, so finding something to eat is not alway that easy. Jackie, our waitress last night, and the kitchen staff were absolutely fantastic! They substituted roasted potatoes for the risotto that came with the dish and made sure everything was safe to eat . AND I have to say, the dish Jackie suggested, Olivia's Chicken, was absolutely outstanding. So so Good. Seriously one of the best meals I've had in a long long while. Everything was perfectly done. I can't wait to go back. Thanks Jackie for making it a great night.

Yelp
A few words here: Lasagna; Linguine con punti di manzo; Roman Alfredo pasta originale. That's all I have to say. Eat well. Recommended

Yelp
Half-effort on this takeout. Pretty average bolognese for $30, which includes 2 pieces of shrimp... 2 pieces. Don't go for it. Side salad was good enough. I expect better from Andiamo's.

Yelp
On or around 4:50pm February 27, 2023, I called the andiamo's 6676 Telegraph Rd Bloomfield Hills MI 48301 (248) 865-9300. Spoke to an initial representative and provided information of concern with my carry-out. She asked if I would hold for moment while locating a manager because she did not have the answer to my inquiry. After 10 or so seconds, someone ended the call. They placed the phone on the base. You cannot confuse that sound. I returned the call and another associate answered. I asked for a manager and the associate wanted my reasoning. I told this person; I had previously stated my case to another employee and preferred not to provide another long dissertation of information to simply end up with the same result (having to get a manager.) I was placed on hold this time. The manager eventually answered the phone, but very unprofessionally. The other representatives answered the phone with what I believe is the traditional greeting...thank you for calling...etc. He said, "hello" with this agitated tone 'loaded for bear' (so to speak). In his tone and mannerism, it was obvious he was ready to shut down any customer issue 'by any means necessary'. I inquired about the new smaller portion size and smaller container for the spaghetti Bolognese. He quickly answered with an industry standard answer, 'it's the same portion but in a smaller container'. I could not believe what he said. With the managers logic where speaking 'square peg in round hole'. Logic being, andiamo's is now able to fit 2 cups of food in a 1 cup container. Now, I understand and as in the movie 'My Cousin Vinny', 'the laws of physics cease to exist in adiamo's kitchen'. I was than floored with the thought andiamo's marketing team must have used smoke and mirrors providing a larger container previously to give the average consumer the illusion they were getting a value. The manager than provided a 'Coup de grace' with a statement that was the equivalent to 'deal with it or not'. Of course, I appalled and threw the statement right back at him and ended the call. I wish I could remember exactly what he said. It was unbelievable for a management person. I had to quickly remember this is the new way of doing business. I DO NOT AGREE AND WILL NOT EVER AGREE WITH THAT TYPE METHODOLOGY. I am thankful for technology and will quickly state, "You do not have to believe what I say. listen to the recorded conversations and view videos of the employee and manager mannerism with me over the phone. What is sad is andiamo's went from two spaghetti Bolognese for the price of one which was a little over $17 total in price to one serving for $25 in a very short period. But of course, everything is blamed on Covid (as they did with 'El Nino' some years ago). After adiamo's raised the price, the customer now receives less food. I ordered two spaghettis in the new smaller contiainers, and the portions varied enough to notice there is no measuring process. In other words, you may even get less depending on who is preparing the food like I received and what prompted the call. I have ordered enough take-out spaghettis to know the weight difference also. If I were treated with a little respect as a paying consumer, I may have simply gone about my way quietly giving a portion of my business to restaurants such as 'Sposita's Ristorante'. Thank goodness for competition. I get carry-out because the reception and dining experience at andiamo's various locations are less than amazing to say the least. You're only as good as your management team. My wooden nickels worth...

Yelp
We went to Andiamo with a group of friends. They were eight of us who each ordered a couple of drinks, three appetizers to share for the group, and an entrée each. The service was between good and very good. The server was attentive, but the pacing of the meal not perfect. Once the food started coming out it all came out fairly fast. So we weren't done with the appetizers when the soup/salad course came, and we weren't done with that when the side pastas came. I was too but it's in to the side of pasta when the entrees came. Of the things I eat, I thought the calamari appetizer was between a 3 1/2 to 4 star. I didn't try the other two appetizers. The salad was "OK." The pasta, which I only ended up having a few bites of because the main course came, was very good. I actually wish I had had more of that. The problem was really the steak. I ordered a filet. It was an 8 ounce filet for $40. If I'm spending that much on a piece of meat, I expect to be tender, juicy, and excellent. This was not. It looked to be closer to medium/medium well, but mainly it just seem relatively dry and course. It was not tender. It didn't have that melt in my mouth type taste like a Capital Grille filet, which is apparently similarly priced. Does that come with some relatively bland mashed potatoes (no garlic of anything) and a few pieces of broccoli. I was pretty bummed. And I definitely wouldn't rush back... Especially not for steak. We split the bill four ways, and it ended up $160 something per couple. For this amount of money, I expect better. It was great to have a night out with friends and the environment was pleasant, but next time I have other restaurant I'll probably suggest.

Yelp
Let me first start by saying ive been in the past, but never had been back. And I was reminded why that while they tout 'fine dining' the place sounds like a cafeteria. Dishes banging around from being dropped off. A loud long beep sound going off for a few mins, stopping for a few seconds, then coming back again coming from the kitchen, and cheesy yacht rock music playing (this is suppose to be an Italian restaurant right? So I dunno, maybe play some 'Italian' music like 99 percent of other places do?). Focusing on my dinner, I came here specifically for the Parmigiana wheel fettuccine they advertised just a few days ago on Instagram. Part of their 'new menu' apparently. IIRC, it was called 'Roman Fettuccine' or something like that. I said to the waiter 'The Roman Fettuccine' and he said 'Fettuccine alfredo' and I said 'yes the Roman Fettuccine'. I didnt see any other menu item that said 'Fettuccine Alfredo' so I assumed he knew what I meant. Nope. About 30 mins later, a dish comes out with Fettuccine Alfredo on it. I said thats not what I ordered, I ordered the Roman Fettuccine that was to be done tableside. He said they didn't have that. I told him to take it back cause that's not what I wanted. Manager comes over and explains that they don't have the ingredients to make that dish. I said that should have been explained when I ordered it, but somehow the waiter assumed I ordered something that was not on the menu, and didn't ask to clarify. One other thing of note, my GF asked if there were any specials and got an immediate no from the waiter. Yet other waiters explained that they did have 1 special after he told us no. Anyway, everyone else ate and I got to watch while waiting another 10-15 for them to make short ribs and pasta. Short ribs were fine, pasta was undercooked barely al dente. And this place seems to have a problem with salting their dishes. Manager said he would take care of it, he didn't, was still charged for everything. They offered desert, didn't want that. Disappointing dinner experience, will never return.

Yelp
First let me say that our waiter was fabulous! Answered our questions, and was kind. The reason for the 1 star? We couldn't hear ourselves think let known hear each other. There were 6 in our party. They sat us in their back room which I think they use as a banquet room. They sat us at a long table which was fine, but then there were also other parties of six and they had lined up the tables one after the other. People had to shout at each other at all the tables to be heard and even then we couldn't have a conversation with each other. On top of that, they played very loud music and personally we couldn't wait to get out of there. As for the food, it was only OK. The salad I had ordered had so much dressing that it was soaking wet and couldn't be eaten. I ordered the Andiamo pasta (build your own), which I had requested it to be made with oil, garlic, basil, and spinach. You couldn't taste the garlic, it had absolutely zero flavor and I had to season it myself to get any taste. The dish tasted like they rinsed it in water and didn't mix the sauce into it. I was very disappointed. my husband ordered linguine with clams, and he said his pasta was extremely dry. Ordinarily, we would not mind paying money for something that was mouth watering, but neither of these dishes were. On the way home we all agreed that we would not be returning.

Yelp
During my visit to Michigan for the lost of my beautiful niece. Several of my friends invited me out to dinner at Andiamo Restaurant. I ordered a Caesar Salad. To my surprise I was truly disappointed by the fact that they gave me a Head of Lettuce cut in half along with a flat bread with cheese along with anchovy. For this reason I expected a beautiful salad in a bowl with croutons in addition to the flat bread. This dish was Not aesthetically pleasing I was thoroughly disappointed in the presentation keep in mind people first eat with their eyes. I expected above and beyond for an Italian restaurant. This dish and the experience saddens me. I noticed during our dining the Maitre of the restaurant that oversees the flow and ensuring the Guest needs are exceeded all expectations. Walked around every table ensuring that the guests were taken care of however; he did NOT stop at our table it's sad to say was it due to our ethnicity. We truly thought he would at least say hello how was your dinner and he walked right past us. Very poor experience I do not want to give one star however to complete my review I have to give a star.

Yelp
I got the gnocchi, was delicious. I wouldn't try new things here, know what you want, this is an expensive place but good for date nights and hangouts.

Yelp
Bartenders are awesome and do the best they can, but general service is far too slow and portions are less than inadequate. Manager is useless ( on Thursday evening this past week).

Yelp
My wife and I went to Andiamo in Bloomfield and I had their baked clams for the first time. They were cheesy and excellently seasoned. If you are a fan of baked clams, you have to try this place. The service is always spot on and the ambiance is very nice. I.e. Don't wear a hat to the restaurant, they will politely ask you to remove it sticking to their traditional values.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick bite to eat, so I sat at the bar. Delicious glass of wine, but my food was cold. I asked for dressing on the side for my salad and it didn't come out that way. They appeared short staffed and extremely busy so I didn't complain, but simple things that aren't hard to give a positive experience. Also I was looking forward to a bread basket and was never even offered one.

Yelp
So great that Andiamo is continuing to offer their delicious dinners via curbside pickup. They are helpful when ordering by phone and prompt to deliver curbside was on time. Dinners were delicious as when served in the restaurant. Chicken Marsala was tender and had a tasty sauce. Their pasta palmina sauce is my favorite, and served with a piece of perfectly grilled salmon, made it a real treat. For now we are not dining in restauduring the pandemic but a treat from Andiamo's makes it more tolerable during this crazy time. 8.20.20 So it is about two months since we reviewed our delicious take out dining choices at Andiamo's Bloomfield.... and we can't enough great things. Plentiful portions. Freshly prepared. Each dish has a distinctive flavor. (You know how at some restaurants everything tastes the same no matter what you get?) Both our Chicken Parmesan and Pollo Olivia (with a lemon wine sauce and yummy artichokes) couldn't have been more plentiful and delicious. Well done

Yelp
Pleasant decor, pleasing to the eye . I got the beef tip pasta, could've been from Gordon Ramsay! Definitely recommend. As a long time Michigan citizen, this place is a staple.
