Gorgeous traditional village! Definitely worth a visit to see this window into Korean culture. The mask dance performance at 2-3pm is also a must-see. Caught a taxi from Andong Bus Terminal for 27900 won. Although it’s more expensive than the 210 bus, catching a taxi only takes about 20-30 minutes compared to the hour plus on the bus. Stayed overnight at Jisan House Hanok. Really enjoyed this experience. It was a beautiful Hanok surrounded by green mountains. The host even provided rice cakes and coffee for breakfast and helped us call a taxi in the morning.

very beautiful and super peaceful village. not so much wait for the shuttle but it was in may, week day. if you want to eat, only place where you can find food is near the ticket office, not in the village once you too the shuttle bus. you can go out and come back with the same tickets though and the shuttle takes max 15min (drive is very short but you need to wait either for the bus to be full to leave or wait to get a in)

Amazing to see in person. Nice to walk around and see the different buildings. Incredible that people actually live there. Shuttle bus there and back was a bit too crowded for my liking, but the ride is short…3 min. Well worth the visit.

Must visit this historical village!!! Getting a car is much easier to approach but there’s local bus to this village.(210 bus, 30 minutes) And if you arrive in Andong station or bus terminal before noon, you would be able to visit Byounsan Seowon(Check time table!!) first then visit this village. For me, renting a bike is better to look around than walking. (Plus you can save time if you don’t have a car!)

Hahoe Village in South Korea is a haven of peace and tranquility. Nestled in a bend of the Nakdong River, this traditional village is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers visitors an authentic glimpse into Korean life and culture. The relaxing atmosphere is palpable, with well-preserved traditional hanok houses, quaint alleyways, and breathtaking scenery. The village has a rich history, dating back to the Joseon Dynasty, and has been inhabited by the Ryu clan of Pungsan for centuries. As you stroll through the village, you can admire the traditional tile-roofed houses, inner courtyards, and manicured gardens. You can also visit the Confucian Academy, once a center of learning for Confucian scholars. Hahoe Village is an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in traditional Korean culture. The relaxing atmosphere, rich history, and cultural heritage make it a must-visit destination for anyone visiting South Korea.

Was nice to look at the old architecture, but maybe it was just when I went, but I visited during the daytime on a weekday, and I felt like I was out of place. There were no other visitors. And all the doors to the villages were closed, so you couldn’t really see anything. The signage was a bit confusing as well. A lot of hype that didn’t really live up to it.

A well preserved Hanok village, showing how the houses and streets were like back in the days. Some people are still living there so be considerate when exploring. The folk village is particularly famous for its mask performances, which is regarded as a UNESCO cultural heritage. However, it’s a little slow-paced for me and I only watched about 3/4 of it. To get here, one can either drive and then take a shuttle bus in, or take bus 210 from Andong bus terminal / Andong KTX station.

This charming Korean folk village, set against the backdrop of a scenic river, offers a truly beautiful experience. Visitors can even dress up in traditional hanbok, adding to the authenticity of the visit. Highly recommended!
