POV: Bringing a group of 120 7th graders and 15 chaperones to a dinner. If you are not someone who is in this situation or has large catering needs, please disregard this review.
We called a number of different places, asking if they can accommodate a group our size. &pizza assured us that they could and even cater to our students who have dietary allergies and restrictions.
Our reservation was for 6:30pm, which means they knew that 130 people were going to be arriving at 6:30pm. We arrived at that time, climbed up 5 flights of stairs since their elevator can only hold 4 people at a time, and got to the rooftop. Water, lemonade, and fruit punch was available for the kids to drink, but the first of the pizza didn't come out until 6:55pm. This place has flatbreads which were delicious, but they cut them up in a way that really made it look like pieces of crust. Again, I'm trying to feed 120 teenagers, so trying to have them line up orderly like they asked us to do, ration out the pizza so that everyone could have some before allowing them to get seconds was a tall task. They also had us line up, and wait there for another 10ish minutes before the pizza even got there. They brought up 3 large trays of pizzas, all cut up, and they were all cheese. After 20 minutes, and all the kids had their first round of 2-3 pieces each, they were asked to line up again, and they brought up 3 trays of all pepperoni, which was not great for our vegetarians or non-pork eaters. Again, it all went fast, and all the while, my dietary allergy and restriction kids (vegans and dairy allergy) had not gotten their food at all. Another 20 minutes go by, and the final 2 trays of meat lovers pizzas arrived. Again, not great for our vegetarians, vegans, and dairy allergy folks. I find it an interesting choice to not have all the options out at the same time, so everyone had something to choose from.
Look, the pizza was very good. If I were to come here on my own or with a small party, I know the experience would be great. I know the employees were trying their best and you can only cook pizza so fast, but management needs to be more realistic before offering to accommodate a group as large as ours if you can't have the food ready.
