I wanted a quick dinner after work, and I wasn't expecting much. It's &pizza. You put some sauce on some dough, add some toppings, pop it in a toaster oven. Simple, right? Wrong.
My order pick-up time was 6:25. I walk in, and it hasn't even been started yet. I think, "okay, no problem. How long can it take to make an &pizza." 6:30 comes and goes. 6:35. 6:40. Meanwhile, I'm seeing people literally walk in and have their pizzas made right away and walk out. I'm waiting for an &pizza that was due 15 minutes ago. An &pizza. 6:45. At this point, I ask if it's been started yet. The answer? "We're short staffed." There were at least four employees. How many employees does it take to make one &pizza in half an hour? The problem, quite clearly, wasn't that they were short staffed or receiving too many online orders. The problem was that no one was doing the online orders, at all. No prioritization, no organization, no leadership, nothing.
A poor DoorDash driver, who was picking up an order scheduled for 6:30, was losing money every minute he waited beside me. Thankfully, I could just cancel my order having lost only half an hour of my life waiting for one &pizza. In that time, I could've picked up a frozen pizza from Giant or Wegman's and popped it in my own oven.
One star for the refund. Like Squisito's before it, this place likely won't last long here with this kind of service. Not with all the other dining options in the neighborhood. But good luck!
