Andrea Aprea

"On the top floor of the Fondazione Luigi Rovati (housed in a magnificent historic building that is home to the Foundation’s Art Museum), talented chef Andrea Aprea has achieved his life-long dream with his eponymous restaurant. The setting is visually impressive, with a superb panoramic window boasting views of Porta Venezia park and Milan’s urban skyline. The large central dining room is dominated by a sparkling circular chandelier made from Murano glass and gold leaf, while the walls clad in black “bucchero” ceramics (from which the Etruscans used to make vases) lean slightly, directing the gaze towards the open-view kitchen. Here, guests can admire the chef and his team at work as they prepare the different dishes for the three tasting menus: Contemporaneità, a 5-course menu which explores the relationship between memory and innovation; Partenope, a 6-course menu focusing on specialities from Campania; and Signature, an extraordinary 8-course experience which expresses the chef’s culinary philosophy. Lastly, the palazzo’s hidden green courtyard at 52, Corso Venezia is home to the Caffè Bistrot where Andrea redefines family-style cuisine via a selection of classic favourites." - Michelin Inspector

This is obviously a five star restaurant but a two star Michelin restaurant gets a curve. The dining room is outstanding. Large tables with an open kitchen is great. The service is excellent. The Neapolitan tasting menu was enjoyable. A couple of dishes were underwhelming but the rest were exceptional. I would definitely go back.

Simply perfect meal. Flavours were complex and developed and we loved the ambiance and perfect match between the dining room and seeing the staff work together. The service was top notch. I think they will be 3 Michelin stars soon! Thank you again Andrea and team!

I very rarely hand out an all 5-star review, but Andrea Aprea certainly deserves it. From the moment I entered, I was greeted warmly by name, setting the tone for an exceptional evening. Jessica, who managed our table, was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the experience for us. I had preselected the ‘Signature’ set menu for our group of five, and each dish took us on a mesmerizing journey—both artistic and flavorful—traversing from sea to land and air. The menu’s genius lies in its balance of acidity, sweetness, bitterness, and savoriness, masterfully curated to offer dynamic contrasts and harmonious flavors. Every course spoke to Chef Aprea’s impeccable craftsmanship and the deep understanding of Italian heritage, with thoughtful modern touches that earned the restaurant its two Michelin stars. This dining experience felt like an indulgence in both elegance and artistry. I cannot recommend it highly enough, and I look forward to visiting it again on future trips to Milan!

The ambiance and service are impeccable, total Michelin standards. As for the food: 1. The ingredients are all quite ordinary, and they haven't been transformed into something interesting or more delicious through cooking techniques; 2. The flavors are completely unbalanced, some dishes being overly salty and others being too bland; 3. The whole experience rely on unimaginative gimmicks like dry ice, cracking, and pouring sauce. It's 2024 now! Keep up with others or focus on perfecting the food itself. Considering the price, it's really not worth it.

The food was outstanding and I would definitely recommend people to try. Everyone is friendly; however, the waiter who served us failed to politely interrupt our conversation before introducing the meal. Instead, he started speaking, regardless of whether we were paying attention. After the introduction, he left suddenly without saying 'please enjoy,' which made the whole experience ended very abruptly. Additionally, I was a little surprised that some guests lacked the etiquette of not wearing perfume at a fine dining restaurant. The guests seated behind us somewhat ruined our experience. Much of the flavor of food comes from smell, so when we can't perceive the aroma of the food and wine, we lose a significant part of the ability to experience the flavor. The food is savory and satisfying but I hope the restaurant can request guests not to wear any perfume when coming in.

This place is not only cozy but also with a high quality of wine and tasty food. Starting with the service of the sommelier which was impressive and unique once she tried to ally our personal preference with the food they offered. The bread is by far, the best I’ve ever eaten. The temperature, taste, and the combination with the olive oil from Sicily make this experience unforgettable. Every detail is carefully thought out to give us (customers) a great experience!

Simply outstanding from the beginning to the end of the meal. A stunning way to delve into Italian cuisine. The non-alcoholic pairing that you can get with each course is definitely worth it.
