NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Andrea’s Pizza in the East Village is from a chef who worked at Scarr’s and L’Industrie for a long time, so we’re pretty excited to see what they do. They have a short menu of slices—including plain, margherita, pepperoni, and a daily special, in addition to Sicilian and Grandma-style pies, and a calzone." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Andrea's is the pizza my family always wants. We have had great pizza around the block, but Andrea's is our favorite. Been coming for years, and it keeps getting better! Best bacon pizza hands down!

Google
This is the real deal Pizza anywhere. Crispy New Haven style crust, great sauce, premium toppings, & best mozz cheese browned to perfection. Very very good pizza. Hidden gem. And Andrea is the best.

Google
Ordered the boneless wings and they look like meatballs that were fried and tossed haphazardly in sauce. The chicken was bland and had chewy bits in it. The lady who took our order looked as if we were inconveniencing her by ordering. I wouldn’t recommend.

Google
This food was horrible! Irregular cuts on ham on my over toasted panini sub (it was very confusing) the curly fries were over done and didn’t taste like potatoes and the BBQ chicken pizza was literally an entire bottle of bbq sauce on pizza crust a few pre made chicken nuggets and a sparse sprinkle of cheese not even all the way melted! They did have diet Canada Dry so shout outs to them for that!! When I called the restaurant to inform them the young lady was very dismissive and said ok we’ll pass that on to the own! No type of resolution or sincere apology for my inconvenience!!! 2/10 won’t try again!!!!

Google
Definitely one of the best places to get pizza in Meriden. Recommend the sweet heat pizza

Google
Good cheeseburgers but horrible meatball grinders the bread. They cut it all the way through you ask if they sliced the meatballs they say yes but they cut The meatballs in half The meatballs look like they're not cooked all the way

Google
I love the pizza here how ever service is a 2 because the phone is always busy. They are super nice but you’re going to have to go to the restaurant and wait for the your order because the phones are busy so if you have time to wait it’s super good

Very friendly, quick service, good food. what more could you ask for.

Yelp
Best pizza an food I have had so far in this city, the pizza is like a cross between NY n New Haven to me. We always get the onion rings get them fried hard. Great food an service.

Yelp
This is the second time I've eaten here. Delivery was quick! The menu options look amazing! I want to come back for the pizza but today I was feeling a burger. The burger was cooked perfect. Not dry at all. Fries were so good! I will be back with an update for that pizza for sure. I tried to get a good picture. The burger was messy but worth it!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite pizza spots in the Meriden area. The sausage pizza is my personal fav. The sausage is actually a nice size and not sliced. Andreas gets a 4 out of five only because there are times where I try to call for hours to place an order with no answer or the line is busy. Most times I'll just go there and order but other times when in a rush I have to go elsewhere. Other than that the food is amazing the best meatball and chicken Parm grinders ever and great customer service.

Yelp
Local spot.. taste good could use more sauce in your pizza flavors are on point. Staff is friendly.

Yelp
It has been 4 years since my first visit and the quality and pricing remain excellent. My go to order is the luncheon special of 2 slices of cheese pizza plus a soda for $3.71 including tax. The slices are large and grease free.

Frank I.

Yelp
Great Food!! From a basic cheese pizza to full dinners the food here is amazing and made with attention to detail. Great flavors and amazing Panini's. And the owner and staff are the best!!

Yelp
Good food, but the never answer the phone. I call the two numbers listed and the phone always just rings. Most of the time I have to go in person, this is a big let down.

DL W.

Yelp
Awesome pizza and huge dinners! They also have slices and even give little cups of parm and crp for atop your pizza

Yelp
Update after several years and dozens of orders- Andrea's has become one of the top 2 or 3 pizza places in town and is probably my go to favorite. Pizza is excellent. Fresh dough, great sauce, and unique specialty pizzas. The delivery is consistant and correct. The staff is courteous. My wife LOVES the chicken and broccoli rabe and every combination of pizza I've tried is fantastic. There are some interesting combinations and even a cheese pizza is great. Give them a try. It's worth it. Easily one the best around.

Yelp
The food is always fresh, the owner is very friendly and the delivery people are always friendly and precise with your order. Always a go to when your looking for good fresh food from the salads to the pizza and everything in between.

Yelp
Andrea's serves up classic new York style pizza that is well executed. It's a no frills type of place that offers slices, salads, grinders, pastas, wings and everything in between. In addition to the pizza, I've tried their chicken parmesan grinder and ziti with marinara and chicken. Both of these dishes were NOT good. The chicken parmesan lacked flavor, but the bread was decent. As for the other dish, it was the worst pasta I ever had unfortunately. The marinara was soooo bland and the pasta was overcooked and mushy...so mushy that it fell apart when I tried to pick it up with my fork. I don't plan to eat here again ever because there are better options for pizza within the same vicinity and wouldn't recommend anything other than the pizza from Andrea's. On a positive note, Andrea's has much more convenient and later hours than the other options. They also deliver.

Yelp
Andrea is the owner and she works very hard. There is something for everyone. She is very nice. She has the best of the best when it comes to her grinders. There was a Subway a few doors down from her they are out of business now. For the same money there is no comparison. Her meals are good. The pizza is ok. I'm very fussy when it comes to pizza. She is in a good location but terrible parking. I think she would do very well in a larger setting. I would double up on the stars if I could.

Yelp
For meriden this is the best you gonna get tbh, just order it well done and you wont be disappointed, their slices are really good too, overall there food is pretty good

Yelp
Delivery is a bit long I ordered a chicken chipotle panini it was really dry I couldn't taste no chipotle on it, I can say fries were really good. Pizza was hard it's wasn't bad though I guess alright.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
It was my first time going for a sweet heat chicken spinach wrap. I was expecting it would be more spicy it had a lot of onions but not quite the heat I was looking for. It was priced well and I would order it again. It came with a small bag of chips and the wrap took two sittings to eat! So quantity was good for the value under 10 with tip. Seating inside was limited but would be cozy for a quick bite or if you had small children. Parking is accommodations were decent. It is in a small plaza with plenty of parking but can get busy on nights and weekends. I would go back!

Yelp
Probably the best pizza you can get for your money. I mean c'mon 11.75 for a large cheese pizza after tax?!? Granted I only had a large cheese pizza it was very good and wasn't too extremely greasy. Crust was very delicious which is my favorite part! Staff was super friendly and pizza was made in 15 minutes!

Yelp
I have ordered from here before but have never written a review. What prompted me today is that I had placed an order for a future date. The young lady on the phone was terrific. I was a pest. Wanted to make sure it made it to my Daughter's school on time. It was delivered on time. Correct. And delicious. There are many places in this area to choose for pizza, but Andrea's is one of the best. We have never been disappointed and their grinders are just freaking awesome too. Give em a try. Your taste buds will thank you and your belly will be full and happy.

Yelp
We usually order on Friday's and they always do a great job with dropping off food according to our lunch schedule, the food is always fresh, the delivery girl is awesome and fast!! We love the chicken salad wrap, sweet heat chicken wrap and the California breakfast wrap!! Truly a great place to order from!!

Yelp
Andrea's pizza is a solid pizza place. Can it compete with some of the best in New Haven...no. It is what it is...a very good local pizza restaurant. They have a very extensive menu full of tons of option. For $5.25 I got a delicious Chicken Parm sandwich. It was nice to see the chicken get hand breaded. No frozen service food at Andrea's. Overall what I've tried has been very good and the prices are great. Give Andrea's a shot. I think you will be surprised.

Yelp
Was headed to subway when I noticed this restaurant and decided to try it out. I've only had the Steak and Cheese wrap (probably 4 times now) and can't complain. I recommend trying this place out if you haven't yet.

Mark G.

Yelp
Called at 630 pm. Was put on hold listining to workers background noise. Called back and asked to speak with manager. Supposedly owner answered. I mentioned what happened. And that person said because they were busy. That was the norm. I proceeded t say I would not be a customer any more. Management hung up before conversation was over. Bottom line. If you call when it's busy. They cannot handle it. Your better off going somewhere where they can c handle the business. I will not be going to this place anymore. You've been warned.

Yelp
Really good food and reasonable price. I don't usually eat bread but their bread is tasty!

Steve E.

Yelp
Hey Owner! I just call tonight to place in order to try your pizza for the first time in I was told by a young lady that delivery would probably be around 60 to 90 minutes I said thank you not interested - I can deal with waiting an hour but was obvious that she didn't want me to order from your business, to bad.

Adam V.

Yelp
Like many other people leaving reviews, I have been very pleased with this place. Every order has been extremely good, and very hot (temperature wise). No one hates cold food more than I do.. Hats off to the crew for fast and fresh food.

Yelp
Andrea's Pizza on West Main Street is so much more than just Pizza. I have yet to order a dish that did not please me and more than meet my expectations! Their grinders ( I am more than just partial to the eggplant ) are on the large side and certainly filling for any appetite at a very reasonable price. On our last visit I ordered the Calamari salad which is done quite well and is almost a meal in itself. The boneless chicken appetizer is Homemade and really very good. The entries are many and varied covering the whole spectrum from chicken ( various ) to seafood. The Shrimp Fra Diavolo is done with just the right amount of spice and heat to please any pallet. Know that all entries come with one's choice of either soup or salad as well as a generous helping of really good bread. Various Wraps and Panini's as well as great Pizza is also available. Virtually the entire menu is available for takeout! In my opinion the pricing is very reasonable and all offerings a great value with friendly service in the bargain.

Yelp
Such amazing cheese pizza! Highly recommend! We got two large cheese pizzas thinking we would have one left over for the next day and we ended up with 2 slices extra.

Toni V.

Yelp
Andrea's does a good job. I'd give them a 7/10 - Pizza is typical brick oven fare - crispy bottom, nice, chewy cheese, and light on the sauce. - Yummy pasta/meal dishes such as Baked Ravioli, Chicken Francese, and Shrimp fra Diavolo are comparable to a mid-level sit-down Italian place. - They make their own bread, which is divine. - Their grinders use freshly made rolls and are HUGE - easily big enough for 2 meals. - GREAT meatballs - Sauce is okay - could use a bit more herbs, but I like the texture and that it NOT too sweet or salty - Huge menu which usually is a turn-off, but there's something for everyone. - Any mistakes are always corrected. - Prices are fair for most items. Only problem is that their menu says they are open Sundays, and I know I've ordered on Sundays, but online it says they are closed on Sunday. This might be something new?

Yelp
We have loved everything we have tried. Superb food and astounding value.

Yelp
So very much disappointed.... 1st & last time. I ordered lunch meatballs parm W/pasta & meatballs were from frozen section!! I kid U NOT! And the sauce was super watery. $28.00@ 2 of us & couldn't eat my food. If u sell meatballs anything they should be REAL MEATBALLS, SO NASTY!

Glum P.

Yelp
I can't believe the ratings. Please listen to me. If you get a sandwich from here chicken parm or sweet and hot chicken or whatever ... it'll be one of the best you've ever had. This place is so good. I work close by and love stopping here to get food. I just wish it was closer to where I live. Cheap great food! Don't listen to these other crazies. I'm looking for your tastebuds and stomach.

Yelp
I needed pizza to serve about 50 employees delivered thru out the day. I called only about 5 days before and they gladly helped me out. They have great sizes for great prices. The pizza is very delicious too. They are very polite. I see someone stating their main language. The person i have always dealt with speaks fluent english. Very great service. I dont know how better to explain their food and service other than the best. Good luck to your business.

Yelp
Ordered a grinder meatball was very bland no taste at all only given it 2 stars for young lady behind counter was nice other than that it would have been one star the owner andrea is very rude.

Yelp
We drove by Andrea's Pizza one day and said we would give it a try as we have had terrible luck with good pizza in Meriden. We ordered wings and a pizza to be delivered. They said it would be 35-45 minutes, which is reasonable. After an hour and 15 minutes we called inquiring where I pizza was, the response we got back was that the delivery guy left a long time ago. Finally, showed up about 15 minutes after that. Strike #1. The food was luke warm at best. The pizza was okay, nothing particularly special, and the wings were terrible! They were soggy from sitting in the styrofoam container for so long. Strike #2. About 2 hours after my husband ate the wings he started feeling sick, and was up sick all night and the next day. He didn't eat anything else, so we know that it had to be the wings, I didn't eat any and I was fine. Strike #3. We will never recommend this place and will not try it ever again. One very bad experience was enough! If you are going to try it, pick up your food, and don't order the wings!

Justin R.

Yelp
Good quality, fresh ingredients cooked and prepared properly. Their gourmet pizzas, wraps and grinders are all delicious. Illianos was a "no one feels like cooking" staple for years but Andrea's has replaced it.

Yelp
This was our second visit to Andrea's. Our first trip was fabulous! We ordered a red and a white pizza. I can't recall exactly what it is. Today we ordered the chicken fajita and supper excited about the order. It smelled so delicious. We were told 15 minutes (strange-- cooking chicken would take longer). We got there approximately 20 minutes after we called. When we went in to pick it up it was kept in the bottom part of the oven in the box. When we got home the pizza was so dry and tasteless that we actually heated up canned pizza sauce to give it flavor and that didn't work so we actually through the entire pizza in the garbage. We eat out very often, but I have to say this pizza was the worse we have ever had. I do understand that different companies may have different cooks, however this was really bad! I know I won't go back. I used to think that there is no such thing as a bad pizza! WRONG. Hope they do something to make it better.

David T.

Yelp
The only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes for my delivery and the pizza was lukewarm by the time I got it. I'll give Andrea's the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up as an unusually busy night. On to the food. I ordered the Spicy Shrimp pizza and a chicken parm grinder. The Spicy Shrimp pizza is a white pizza with shrimp, bacon, fresh garlic, spinach (instead of asparagus) and chili powder. Even though the pizza was not hot it was one of the best tasting pizzas I have ever eaten. I loved the sleight afterburn in my mouth from the chili powder. For me it is very important that my pizza crust is a little on the softer side and chewy. Andrea's pizza crust is exactly how I like it. I saved the chicken parm for lunch the next day. Even reheated in the microwave it tasted awesome. Fresh ingredients and it looks like the grinder roll was baked in their pizza oven. Needless to say I was very impressed and I think I found a new go-to pizza joint in Meriden and the prices are reasonable..

Mike S.

Yelp
Horrible. I ordered a Ham grinder. It came 1:45 minutes later. It was cold when it arrived. The bread looked great. It was a nice thick N.Y. style grinder roll, but it literally had 2 pieces of ham on it. I called to ask if it was normal and when the girl said it was. I said I'd like to give some constructive criticism seeing how it's a brand new place in a town that has at least 20 other places to go, you should really put more meat on the grinder. I was going to say, especially since the bread is so thick, but the girl hung up on me before I could finish. You're throwing money away if you order from Andrea's on West Main Street in Meriden. I'm not upset about the $5.00 tip even though it took so long, the delivery driver was very nice. I don't think it was his fault it took so long.
