Masso Osteria Lands a New Chef, General Manager | Eater Vegas

"I've noted that Devin Hashimoto joined Andrea’s (the sushi and Japanese restaurant at Encore Las Vegas) after leaving Mizumi, and that Joseph Elevado earlier departed Andrea’s to become chief culinary officer at Prep Kitchen after running Andrea’s for almost six years." - Susan Stapleton

Hands down !! The best Italian food in sarasota. Quaint small place. Must have reservations. I had the best gnocchis in town that came places in bread bowl. To die for. I would eat here every night. Amazing. Will not disappoint.

Seriously one of the best Italian meals in Florida! A real hidden gem. Small restaurant so not great for larger groups but intimate setting with great food & wine selection. We lucked out with the street food of the day being Arrancini Bolognese which were delicious! Loved everything from their bread starter to their fresh al denti pasta.

We loved our food overall! Had a couple specials and they were great! Italian wine list is very expansive. Server very friendly and attentive. Not busy on a rainy MON night but would be different vibe with a full dining room. Looking forward to coming back and trying more menu items!

So my experience here was part of a larger group of people and both the service and food was impeccable. I had the octopus and it was grilled to perfection. Like no place I have had it before. The eggplant appetizer was so good I could have eaten it for a meal. I have read some of the comments on cocktail napkins being needed, with nice tablecloths to absorb any condensation from my ice tea I liked them not wasting the paper napkin so many others do under the drink.

We had three different pasta dishes which were all outstanding. Wine, bread and dessert were likewise excellent. Our server, Dom, was knowledgeable and attentive.

Im writing this review in hopes the owners can better educate their staff on the importance of food allergies. While the food was delicious we specifically told our waiter of my allergies, then reiterated again when we ordered, and then checked again when the food came. One of the appetizers looked like it had something I was allergic to so I asked the waiter again to check with the chef. He never comes back so my friend goes and finds him to please ask so I can eat or not. I bit into another appetizer when he comes back and says nothing here has nuts except and points to the appetizer I just tried. Luckily I’m not anaphylactic but now I’ve been sick all night. The waiter was so nonchalant never apologized and just said oh it only had a little bit of nuts not a lot. I’m sharing this story so others with food allergies can be extra diligent here and the owners can better train the staff. Food allergies aren’t just an aversion someone could die if not taken seriously.
