Mexican restaurant takes over Andrea’s in 2020 | Eater Vegas

"A pan-Asian, “vibe dining” restaurant on the Encore side that opened in late 2013 and was named for Andrea Hissom Wynn; it features a futuristic, sleek interior (notably a photo of Hissom Wynn’s eyeball behind the bar) and positioned itself as a stylish dinner-and-drinks destination. The venue took reservations through OpenTable into late 2019 but is slated to close in early 2020 to make way for a new contemporary Mexican concept." - Susan Stapleton

To start off, I believe that I have been here before, but maybe not. This was before I started writing yelp reviews though, and i'm here now! Andreas is a local staple in Waldwick, NJ, that serves Italian Fare food. Went here on Thursday July 17th 2025 with my parents and my cousin, and his friend. We made a reservation in case it was busy there, and good thing, because around 7 or so it was starting to get busy! Highly recommend one does make a reservation. Was greeted by a host, who sat us at a table. Duly note, I did feel a little chilly, but always bring my sweater for that reason. The table was set with a wine glass, and a water glass, and silverware. perfect for an eventful dining experience. Our server came over right away and introduced himself. Only con is I really couldn't understand him that well, especially when he stated the specials. Anyways, we started with 5 waters, and some also ordered titos with sprite. My cousin also brought some wine with him- not sure if this place is BYOB (bring your own booze). We started off with Fried Calamari, Tomato and Mozzarella, and Zuccinhi Fritti. Food came out in a timely manner- we also took a while to look over the menu. I enjoyed the Zuccini and fried calamari! Finally we decided what we wanted-- I ordered the Zuppa De pesci, which was pasta with mussels, salmon, calamari, shrimp, and scallops. Some of the other dishes my party got was the scallop scampi, and some veal dish. I very much enjoyed my seafood entree- oh and the salad came with it too! I ate most of my meal, but then also took some leftovers home with me. Oh, and the server didn't quite communicate with me that they box the leftovers, but once i got the message, it was all good. Paid via a gift card, then the balance with a credit card, and left a cash tip. Highly recommend stopping at Andreas in Waldwick! If we are ever in the area again, would definitely go!

Google
Online menu prices do not reflect what the lunch prices actually are in-person. Was very frustrated to see prices were actually nearly 5 dollars more than website listed. Kids chicken was 19 dollars, more than a regular adult entree which is absurd. Nice service decent food but was disappointed with mentioned.

Google
I had my baby shower in the private room upstairs. Ben was so accommodating and flexible when some guests cancelled due to a snow storm. Everyone raved about the food and atmosphere ! Thank you Andrea’s for making my day so special !

Google
Delicious food and great service! I had the chicken parmigiana and it was very tasty! The service here is top notch we didn’t have a reservation and they went above and beyond to make room for us. Also the banana dessert is a huge plus! Our entire party enjoy their dishes! I would definitely come back again!

Google
Great Italian place. The veal chop parmesan was fantastic and pounded very thin. You could tell it was super fresh. Staff was friendly and the service was great. Dessert was also a huge hit. Get the chocolate covered bananas

One of my favorite Bergen County ristorante. Been coming here for over 25 years. Never had a bad meal. Always delicious and hardy.

Google
Every dish we’ve tried here has been incredible. The service and atmosphere is classy, and they allow you to bring-your-own-wine. It’s a great place for a special occasion, or if you want to experience excellent Italian food.

Google
While I love this restaurant and frequent it often, I find it extremely annoying when I make a reservation Specifically for downstairs and Izel can’t seem to get that straight and seats us upstairs. Normally would t care, but when the reservation is specifically made downstairs to accommodates a disabled individual, it’s disappointing at best.

Yelp
Great food one of the best in the area. We greatly enjoy their lamb chops and filet mignon Murphy! Service is good. Ambiance is cozy In a day when everything costs a lot they provide bruschetta, biscotti, and chocolate covered bananas. Delicious!

Yelp
This is definitely a great place! The food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful. The portions of food are very big ( which isn't a bad thing! ) and we're all cooked perfectly. I love my entree. One of the best fish dishes I've had at a restaurant. And their desserts were divine. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great place for a function with a price fixed menus. The food is good but the service is fantastic. Everyone was so kind and helpful from start to finish. Would highly recommend for events.

Yelp
Beautiful local spot in Waldwick . Went today for a private party with fixe menu. Caesar salad good, enjoyed penne in vodka sauce, had veal entree which was good veal Dessert was trio of cake, biscotti and chocolate banana. Service attentive and fast . Highly recommended

Yelp
Beautiful place, great service and amazing chicken parm dinner! One of my favorite places for an Italian dinner.

Yelp
Very nice typical Italian restaurant. Drinks are awesome and service was good. Decor was a little old. Nothing extravagant food wise but everything tasted good and prepared well.

Yelp
Went here again and got here at 825pm for dinner. They won't seat you past 830 and try to close at 9...so we quickly ordered our things and despite being so late everything was on point as usual! They serve complementary bruschetta and olives upon seating to prep your hunger game. The bees knees is prob my fav vodka cocktail and they even found a modelo for the hub. The bronzino special with asparagus, is a go to item for me! Get the "Bronzino Alla Stagione" which is a Bronzino Filet sautéed with Endive, Asparagus, Fresh Tomato, Black Olives & Garlic in A White Wine Sauce served with Spinach. It's delish and I'm not the biggest fan of fish but it comes out pipping hot and will not disappoint! The calamari was good but the bronzino will bring me back every time!

Yelp
We dined here years ago before it moved locations, the menu was more classic, and the food was outstanding and memorable, but pricy. The ambiance was old and ran down, but the service was warm and caring. We dined recently, and the menu was more modern with unorthodox sauces and flavors that were under whelming, food lacked soul, and full flavor. The ambiance was modern and stiff, the prices were rediculously expensive & overpriced. The service was on the mark, but cold. Was reqlly looking for the experuence had had there before it moved.

Yelp
I've been here several times for lunch with clients and this was our first dinner reservation at Andrea's. We experienced the worst customer service at this restaurant. The staff is confrontational and they do not value your business. There is no manager or owner present leaving the inexperienced hostess handling customer interactions in a very unprofessional manner. Going as far as talking back and insulting customers is an immediate dismissal in my business! I called the manager and left a message and still have not heard back which further solidifies this review and the lack of respect and customer service required to run a business.

Yelp
First time here, came with two friends i ordered linguini with clams, which was perfect. tastes delicious. nice size portion.. my friends ordered shrimp scampi and chicken franchise. they both enjoyed their dinner. we order a blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert which was very good and perfect ending . overall food was very good. our waitress was Jasmine and she was excellent. the ambiance was very nice. very warm and inviting. i will definitely be back as there was plenty of items i'd like to try on the menu. i would of given a 5 star to my first visit here yet I asked to be sit downstairs and they sat me upstairs. their upstairs. It was very nice but not like downstairs. no apologies when i told them. and they didn't even try to sit be downstairs as i requested.

Yelp
Great Italian food Best I've had in a long time. Great Service and wonderful ambiance. 5 star

Yelp
When you make reservation for the first floor due to physical issues, it is terribly disappointing to be told that you need to climb stairs to the 2nd floor. Food was good. Service was very good. Ambiance not so good.

Yelp
I've been coming to Andrea's for years & can honestly say I've never been disappointed, and it remains one of my favorites go to spots. The food is GENEROUS portions, sometimes lasting 2 full meals (lookin' @ you, Chicken Milanese). I'm a sucker for solid cutlets, so naturally gravitate toward any dish with those. Some of my fave complimentary items are the bruschetta to start + the biscotti and choc covered bananas with dessert. Inside the restaurant is very family friend but also good for a date night or catching up with friends. The bar area is super small, so comfortable to grab a drink but I typically don't love eating dinner there.

Chris F.

Yelp
Eat downstairs if you can. The upstairs is a little sterile. Downstairs felt homey. Dishes were good, not great, and you will have leftovers. It's a solid place for a standard night out. By the way, salads come with most entrees so consider that when ordering.

Yelp
My 3 friends and I went for the first time as a group not first time as individuals and had amazing food start to finish. Appetizer, dinner and dessert was perfect. Had a few cocktails and they were just as good as the food. Waiters were super friendly and service was awesome! It was a busy Thursday night and we never felt rushed. Definitely a place to try on a date night too.

Yelp
Great food! Server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was very very delicious and good portions for the price. Salmon was cooked perfectly. Byob wine which is nice or they have a full bar you can order from

Yelp
Came here with the family after my grandma's funeral, staff are friendly, restaurant is clean, and they have a nice little tent area for outside seating. Apps we had were the zucchini sticks, grilled calamari, and prosciutto wrapped melon. Zucchini stock were not crispy enough for me, but flavor was there, calamari was actually cooked well but under seasoned, and the prosciutto and melon was more melon than anything. Main course I got veal sorentino, which was thinly pounded veal with prosciutto and eggplant. Pretty good, everything cooked nicely, but very salty. Overall a great experience and nice atmosphere, but very high prices.

Yelp
The service, the atmosphere, and most importantly, the food, suburb. I have been there twice now and have enjoyed every second of my meal. I had the veal braciole with gnocchi. Brought me back to my days with my grandma. The Neapolitan at dessert was the best I've ever had. My husband had the fruit de mare with capellini pasta. He also loved the tiramisu. I just love the food here. Cheers to Ben and the entire staff.

Yelp
We've been coming here for 40 years. The food is outstanding and the waiters are great. Everything is fresh and service is perfect. Great cocktails!

Denis A.

Yelp
Been coming here for decades, since Andrea was still cooking. They are a go to place for me even though I now live 300 miles away lol. Great food and great service. My now 33 year old daughter as a little girl always ordered the chicken parm and they cut it up for her before bringing it out to the table. I always come back. The veal chop Milanese is excellent. But the seafood is great too.

Yelp
Attended a baby shower here. The lunch was held upstairs. The capacity was about 50 people. It was split among two long tables. The back wall was used to place a lovely dessert table. They had a nice sized bar. Staff was on point bringing out the food and drinks. They had a great handful of staff members on the floor attending us all. I liked that they offered dinner menus for their guests. These menus included the current date and full coarse options. Food was good. My only downfall was the pasta. It tasted a bit hard. Parking was super easy. I found a spot right in front of the restaurant. I did see an area for back parking. The downstairs appeared to also be nice and spacious. The decor gave it a nice classy look.

Yelp
Their Chicken Parmesan in Vodka sauce is my favorite entree! Love it! Can't get enough of it!!!!!!!

Yelp
Delicious! Can't wait to go back. So many things on the menu I want to try - glad our friends brought us here

Yelp
Ate there last night for the second time... We were just recently turned on to this place. The food and service was excellent!!! However, we have to give a shout out to the hostess Gail that we hear is fairly new. She was absolutely AWESOME!!! Very accommodating and has a great sense of humor!!! What a hoot she is!!! We can't wait to go back!!!

Rami S.

Yelp
Awful. I heard this place was good but I can't say to others to 'come here'. Overpriced. Poor cooking.

Yelp
Enjoyed my meal here. Had blackened salmon and spinach which was presented and cooked perfectly. Multi level restaurant with a nice atmosphere and very good service. They have a bar but we were allowed to bring our own wine. Hope to return soon.

Yelp
I came to Andreas for a Tuesday night work dinner. We called a few days ahead and made a reservation -- I would definitely recommend making a reservation, as there were not any open tables even on a Tuesday. Andreas has a nice ambiance and is dimly lit with very quiet background music. Service was friendly and prompt. We ordered several appetizers for the table (zucchini fritti, eggplant, shrimp cocktail, burrata) and all were very good, with the exception of the scallop special being absolutely phenomenal! The table ordered a variety of entrees, and everybody seemed pleased with their selection. I went with Cavatelli Estive. It had a nice flavor and was incredibly rich -- that coupled with the huge portion sizes, I barely finished half of it. Also a nice touch that entrees came with a green salad as well. Complementary dark chocolate covered bananas for dessert was a great way to end the meal. Overall, I had a positive first experience at Andreas. Decent menu selection, large portions, and attentive service. While on the higher expense end, Andreas did live up to my expectations for a finer dining experience. Great option for a date night or other special occasion.

Yelp
Small intimate place with outstanding food. We were able to bring our own wine even though they have a bar. Pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly. My wife had the salmon and loved it. Looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
I hate to write a negative review but think it's important for this restaurant which is known to be higher end to note how disappointed we were after dining here last evening. This was an early valentines celebration with my family and we were looking to change it up. We sat on the high tops by the bar section as we hadn't made a reservation for 5pm on a Sunday. Totally understandable. Our drink orders were taken right away but then it took 20 minutes to take our food order. I ordered a blackened salmon over a bed of lettuce. My husband inquired about a seafood pasta and specifically asked if there was any fish in the dish as he doesn't eat any fish. Our server replied no only selfish. Great! Shortly after our apps came out (no issues) but what got me is that when our entrees came out after waiting forever our apps were not cleaned off. Half the dishes remained on the table through the course of the evening clogging up the table. First major issue. Clock is ticking and ticking... where is our dinner? Finally it arrived. The seafood pasta had lots and lots of salmon. Huge chunks. Maybe due to the flavor it gave the dish but my husband couldn't even stomach it. He isn't one to send it back so ate a few bites and then left it. Issue number 2 my food wasn't what I ordered. Something completely different. So I had to sit while my family ate while they went back to cook it. When everyone was done eating mine finally came out. Issue number 3 our drinks were not refilled once through our entire dining experience. Issue number 4 no apologies. My kids said their meatballs were the worst they ever had (they are not picky eaters). My dinner was delicious as a side note but not what I would call a blackened salmon. There also wasn't any dressing that I could tell on the salad but that is okay because I prefer mine dry. Once all our dishes had been packed up and cleared away no one brought our check. Sat for another 15 minutes until we saw someone to flag down who brought it. Now this is 5pm on a Sunday shouldn't be that busy yet. For the price $$$ and the quality of food we will never ever be back. There are enough 5 star Italian restaurants that are always on point within minutes of this establishment. Yes one bad time doesn't mean future bad times but again when there are so many other amazing places no need to risk it.

Yelp
4.5 Stars (Rounded up) They have a full bar as soon as you walk in but the best part is its BYOW (wine). We sat down and immediately the waiter opened our bottles. For the apps: Fried Calamari - Fresh, Crispy, hot and marinara was plenty flavorful Stuffed Artichoke - Decent sized and full of flavor and cheese. Burrata - Soft, creamy and nice and cold as would expect. Sausage, Long Hots & potato - The long hot and potatoes were amazing on its own, the sausage I was assuming was homemade and had a nice flavor just was a little over done for my linking Mains: Stuffed Rainbow Trout - Fantastic, stuffed with plenty of seafood and super fresh fish. The scampi sauce sat below and complemented it perfectly. I would get this again Surf and Turf - Average, as the meat was overdone but lobster was cooked well Swordfish - Another great piece of fish. Super fresh and had a nice sear and sauce to complement Steak Giambota - I did not taste this but looked really good!, huge portion. I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the meal. Everything was seasoned well and had a great taste. The only negative points was the place was pretty tight and felt a little rushed with the service. I like to relax and enjoy and not worry about rushing my apps to clear room for my main. The menu is a typical Italian restaurant but this if a par above your local Italian restaurant. I will be back.

Yelp
We recently held our daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner at Andrea's. Food was delicious and service was excellent. The staff had no problem addressing certain dietary requests and changes to the menu. The upstairs room is perfect for an intimate family party. We were more than satisfied how everything went.

Diane G.

Yelp
Always consistently good food. Ample servings and pleasant wait staff. It's our go-to restaurant in Bergen County.

Richard R.

Yelp
Best Italian food I've had in years. The service is excellent and the chicken parm is to die for. It's perfect for date night with low lighting and that romantic Italian feel. 10/10 will eat here again.

Yelp
So disappointed with this spot , looked promising but did not deliver. Walked into a great decor really hip. We had reservations , I was excited to see a "fancy, hip" vibe. My excitement didn't last. We were brought upstairs to a big empty room that one would hold a repast dinner in! Brightly light no decorations and a huge flat screen tv that wasn't even on. Funny I seemed to notice that all the "younger" couples like us were ushered up there while all the "older" couples were sitted downstairs! Backwards no? The food was well, not great at all. My boyfriend had penne with vodka which tasted like cardboard. For the first time in nine years I saw him use salt! My salmon sounded promising but it looked more like salmon soup ! The beer I preferred honestly tasted like soap, maybe not rinsed enough? We wanted to stay originally when we saw it on Yelp so that we could sit at the bar after dinner and have martinis but we just left and went elsewhere. The only positive is that our waiter was very good and the free chocolate covered banana at the end. Not somewhere I would go again. It's just a shame we were put upstairs like children because we go out to eat three to four times a week and they could have had new customers.

Bob R.

Yelp
Recently, we had surprise birthday party for my wife and 16 family members attended. They served 4 trays of cold antipasto and 5 trays of hot antipasto followed by salad and choice of 5 entrees. The food was ample and enough for many to take home. But most importantly everything was amazingly delicious. There were five waiters and they couldn't have been nicer- the service was flawless. Highly recommend Andreas for parties like this- wonderful. Bob Rizzotti Waldwick

Yelp
We've dined here several times. The food and service is always exceptional. Thanks again !

Yelp
Had my baptism celebration at Andrea's- I had never been but had heard good things. It was absolutely perfect. Many people from my party said it was the best chicken parm they have ever had. Also got rave reviews about the salmon dish and the veal. Great staff also made the experience perfect. The inside was also beautiful. I couldn't be any happier with the event or food! We will be back!

Yelp
A wonderful Italian restaurant with superior food and service. On a Monday night the place was busy--Andreas is great for a business lunch, ladies lunch or romantic evening. Will return to this establishment. Our waiter Bill has been with the restaurant for a long time and he deserves recognition as an accommodating server. He goes above and beyond to ensure that all goes well with your dining experience.

Yelp
Excellent service. Good terrific. Swordfish cooked to perfection. Pasta just right. A must the Napoleon for dessert. I serving will serve at least 3.

Yelp
Great restaurant! My family has had many celebrations here. They have a big room upstairs for private parties. Great food and service

Bonnie K.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Nice atmosphere. The food is always delicious and the red gravy is honestly one of the best in any restaurant. The only downside, beware of Zuppa Di Pesce. Not much shellfish at all and they loaded up with cheap monk fish.
google avatar

Joanne G.

Yelp
The food is consistently excellent, and the options are endless. From apps to dinner to dessert- there is something amazing for everyone at your table. The servers, bartenders, and hostess are all very friendly and accommodating. Prices are a little high but it's worth it for the overall experience. This has been our favorite local Italian restaurant 20+ years.

Yelp
Palm Sunday/Easter Dinner. Ok we broke the fast just a little, but Ben from Andrea's out did himself! We just had to do our part to support our local business owners. Amazing food like always! Although we had to settle for take-out, and missed the country farmhouse ambiance, if you closed your eyes you didn't know the difference. Everything was piping hot and cooked to perfection, from the sear on the New York Strip and lamb chops, to the rich mushroom and artichoke flavors infused in to the Snapper Alla Etna! A home run! Thank you Ben! Ok we had one caveman at the table...

Troye H.

Yelp
Recently ordered the Seafood Ravioli. While good to eat, there were only 3 ravioli's served. The dish was $25, and only 3 Ravioli's!!!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL AND SHAMEFUL. This is not anyway to hold onto patrons. Beware eating here.... hefty pricing for little food.

Scott A.

Yelp
Dined at Andrea's for the first time and enjoyed our time there. Good food and very friendly staff. Food was brought to us a reasonable intervals, timed perfectly. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the quite. Andreas is on our places to dine list.

Yelp
Another visit where they've overbooked! We had an hour to grab a quick dinner. The bar area was jammed with several couples and groups who also were told their reservation time was pushed back. Two groups were 45 min past their reservation time!. Both groups asked for the downstairs weeks in advance and when they showed up- offered the upstairs because they had filled up downstairs already. This has has happened to us also. The food is boring, tasteless and tired. it's not worth the aggravation at all!

Valerie P.

Yelp
We went for lunch and enjoyed it to the extent that we would go back. The blonde woman who served us was lovely. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we decided to get information on having an anniversary party for about 35 people at Andrea's. The website instructed us to call the restaurant and speak to "Ben" about private events. I left a voicemail for Ben several days ago and have not received a response...because of this I am giving only a 2 star review.
