A True Detroit Treasure! Andrew's Restaurant in downtown Detroit is a family-owned gem that’s been around since 1918 — and you can feel the love in every detail. The food is amazing, full of flavor and made with care. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the best part is that the whole family works there, keeping the tradition alive. You’ll even see the owner nearby helping out in the parking lot — it doesn’t get more hands-on or heartfelt than that! Just a short walk from the beautiful Detroit Riverwalk, this spot is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic food and genuine people. Great, great place!

Went for my grandma's birthday and everything was amazing. Good food, wait staff and bartender.

Google
I highly recommend Andrews on the Corner! Great food, efficient, friendly staff & clean restrooms. Another plus is the easy walk it is from the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater. Also close to the relaxing Riverwalk. We will definitely go there again, concert or not! Perfect destination lunch or dinner spot.

Google
So glad we stopped in! Met the owner Tom, who is fantastic. Family feeling and great customer service. He really cares and it shows. Warren our waiter was attentive and great at his job. The walleye basket was cooked perfectly and fresh fish, my husband loved the Ruben and the chicken strips our family got were delicious. Bathrooms were super clean as well. We will be back again and highly recommend to stop in here!

Google
Food is basic quality but prices are riverfront prices. Has the perch dinner $30.00 not good at all. Perch was suggested as one of the favs. Had the burger it was standard but not great. If you’re not wanting to just drink and snack go someplace else. With tip for a burger and perch fish spent $60 something dollars

Google
Nice laid back place. Food was great. Ruben was perfect and my wife's perch sandwich was "exactly how their supposed to be." Our server was so nice. Our family always samples local establishments when on vacation and I'm glad we stopped here. It's now on our list of places to revisit when we're back in Detroit.

Google
This is one of our favorite places! We ride our bikes from corktown around belle isle and stop off at Andrew’s for a cocktail or catfish! I’m gluten free so it’s so nice to be able to eat catfish with cornmeal and the best ranch ever!!!

Google
I had the perch sandwich, which is easily one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had. Toasted bread, crunchy fish, fresh veggies. The pretzels were hot, soft, and delicious. The service was genuine, kind and welcoming. I will definitely come again!

Yelp
An excellent classic bar near the river a short trip from downtown. My fiance and I visited last year while on a Detroit adventure. We sat at the bar for a drink and had a great conversation with the friendly bartender (I can't remember her name). A great historic bar worth a stop if you like historic bars or great dive bars.
google avatar

Steven J.

Yelp
Asked for a vodka martini and the bartender if you want to call him that just poured vodka into a small glass. This will make for a great story in laziness!!
google avatar

Yelp
Really great old school ambience, this restaurant is family owns, which is always great to support also! The food came out really fast and everything was great.

Yelp
I would love to give Andrew's more stars. Well, I'm actually adding a star for the wonderful waitress. I can't recall her name, but she was very warm and hospitable. We sat outside for appetizers and drinks before a concert down the block. In fact, we paid to park in their lot for the show. It was super convenient and only $10. I didn't have a chance to go inside. Therefore, I can't offer any review on the interior. The drink that I ordered, an Old Fashioned, was ok. What I didn't care for at all were the pretzels with cheese. They reminded me of something one would order at a block party or small fair. The "cheese" was that bright yellowish orange stuff one would find in a can. It tasted like metal and was overall a complete turn-off. The table we sat at was next to a sewer grate. The smell made it a super short visit.

Yelp
Went to Andrew's with my Mom and I thought it was fantastic. We both had the Perch and it was some of the best Perch I've had in Detroit. It was also relatively well priced. The perch was fresh and flaky and the batter on it was tasty, and not to thick so it could interact well with the lemon. I also had the Clam Chowder and that was excellent as well. It was freshly made (which isn't always the case) and wasn't overrun by potatoes like many other iterations. Tom is the Owner and he's a great guy. He checked to make sure everything was up to snuff and our waitress was incredibly attentive. Combine that with the awesome riverside atmosphere and you have an amazing spot for lunch and drinks. Great job!

Yelp
Went here on a trip to Detroit on the recommendation of a local. It was a great spot. Everyone was friendly, the drinks were well made and the location is right off the river walk. Hit up this long time family owned joint when you get a chance

Yelp
Yelp to the rescue! Nate and I were in the area looking for some food and drinks before a show at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre down the street. I hopped on Yelp and this place came up. I gave them a call to confirm they were open (highly recommend for small family owned spots like this) and indeed they were - score. I asked if they had on street parking and the bartender told me they have their own private lot - double score! We pulled in to the private lot and the owner was out there letting people know they couldn't park there for the concert. No worries for us, and we appreciated the heads up. We walked in through the back and got seated right away - it wasn't too busy yet around 5 pm on a Tuesday. It got quite a bit busier as we were leaving with lots of concertgoers. The tap list was more extensive than I was expecting, which was nice for Nate. The food menu was pretty basic bar fare; wings, sandwiches, burgers, and fried food baskets. No complaints here, it was just what we were looking for. The whole place gives a very Birch Lodge vibe, for any Grand Rapidians reading this. I ordered the chicken tenders and Nate got the corner club. Our food came out super quickly which was appreciated, as we were both pretty hungry. The chicken tenders were not quite what I was expecting; they looked like long chicken nuggets that you'd get at a school cafeteria. And that's basically what they were. But I am being 100% honest when I say I loved them! Probably a bit of a nostalgia factor there. They were super hot and fresh, and the fries were too. The club was stacked and had fresh lettuce and tomato and perfectly crispy bacon. We couldn't complain about these simple bar meals. Our bartender was super slammed at this point but was doing a great job keeping up. The owner also stopped by our table to chat with us and was greeting everyone as they came in. This is a great spot for a pre-game meal or post-game drink. They do have some outdoor seating on the sidewalk in front which is nice. I'd come back!

Yelp
A friend from out of town recommended this pub. Right by the river. Bar food was very good & would recommend their "famous" lake Erie perch sandwhich. Stick to beer and wine when ordering alcoholic beverages, so to minimize chances of being disappointed with a cocktail that may not be your liking. The service was good, but Staff can be overwhelmed if it gets too busy. (Expected during these times.) Met friendly owner who said business had been in the family over 100 years!!! Now that's saying something.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
The perfect dive in on the river walk that I was hoping to find!!! Amazing prices for drinks and good food every time I've stopped in. TV's to watch football and a great environment to hang out and grab a bite to eat in.

denise m.

Yelp
Food and service were great! Had perch and it was delicious and fresh.. service was great for our large party! Thank you

Barbara B.

Yelp
This is the most amazing neighborhood bar in every sense. Great staff and great food. My friends and I love taking a short walk here to enjoy a great night of drinks, food, and friends. This is a total non judgment zone venue you can speak your mind and no one cares lol.

Valerie W.

Yelp
Food and service are consistent. Open on Sunday when most restaurants are closed. Nice outdoor seating with fun people watching

Tom F.

Yelp
I have been coming into Andrew's since Tommy opened it. The perch is awesome and so is the rest of the food. It's a great hockey bar and all around sports bar too. When the Joe was open the bus rides were half the fun. Before Archer ran everybody out Andrew's was happening, lucky enough it still does great. Thanks Tommy!

Yelp
Love this place. It is especially convenient when going to concerts at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre. The food is always hot and fresh. And the drinks are good. And prices are reasonable for everything.

Scout O.

Yelp
Delicious fresh fish. at our table, we had perch catfish, and walleye. Excellent service.
google avatar

Yelp
We were hanging out in the area when I said, "hey Andrews is on my list. Let's have lunch there". The customer service is phenomenal. The owner came to our table, and we had a conversation with him for a while. We had the buffalo wings as an appetizer. They were your regular buffalo wings. I also had the Cajun fish and chips and loved that catfish. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. My friend had the classic Reuben with fries and said that was very good also. I also had the Tequila Mockingbird cocktail and loved it. I'm definitely keeping Andrews on my list.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was good especially the perch dinner!! The atmosphere had a old downtown bar feeling including an old pay phone!! The server was attentive and friendly!!

Yelp
My first visit to this 4th generation, family-owned business now in its 101st year. Abby was working the bar and Tom was working some (inventory?) books. Good, friendly people. Her service was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable. I could not decide between the burger or yellow perch sandwich - Abby recommended the perch. It was an excellent recommendation. It arrived quickly, direct from the fryer; hot food, hot. It was a generous portion served on a toasted hoagie bun, with both French fries and small containers of creamy coleslaw and tarter sauce. Yeah, it's $12.95 ... but it is a damn good perch sandwich. There is plenty of fenced parking in the gravel lot directly behind the building. WiFi is available; password: redwings The beer selection is extensive. CCW/CPL is not specifically disallowed by signage, but I am GUESSING that more than half their revenue is alcohol sales; so I secure my EDC in the car. Will I return? Absolutely, yes.
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
The food was alright, the chicken looked like it was microwaved though. The toilets were absolutely foul but it was otherwise good. They had decent service.

Yelp
We started our Dive Bar tour of the city at Andrews on the Corner. What a cool spot with so much history. If the wall could talk, I can only imagine what stories they could tell. We decided to take a seat at the bar as we waited for our friends to join us. The bartender was great and we enjoyed talking to her. They have a nice selection of beers on tap and bottled. We decided that we were going to hold off on food as we had quite a few spots to visit. If you are looking for a cool spot in the city, Andrew's on the Corner is great little hang out located close to the Detroit River. The location is fantastic with so many things to do right by the water. As for us, we have many places to go. On to the next one.....
google avatar

Mitch P.

Yelp
7 of us came here on my first visit to Detroit in years. Had never heard of it but my sister said it was good and had a hockey atmosphere, so we said "great" and walked here. The atmosphere was 'sports' and the food, including salads, sandwiches and fish 'n chips, were good. Shannon, our server, was both very helpful and very friendly, and the prices are very fair. I don't know when I'll be back in the city, but if you're in Rivertown, especially going to a ballgame, stop here!

R J.

Yelp
The food was surprisingly good. I ordered the double cheeseburger, which was very satisfying. The tomato soup is also recommended. Definitely pay this place a visit if you're downtown and looking for some quality bar food. They have parking behind the building
google avatar

Jeffrey G.

Yelp
Nice little bar & restaurant in Detroit near the Detroit River Walk. I had a classic Rueben and my better half had a corned beef stack sandwich. We ordered yummy fried zucchini sticks and panko crusted egg plant. Pictures to follow.
google avatar

Gavrilo I.

Yelp
This is a great bar in Detroit. I have been here several times and every time the services is quick, atmosphere is buzzing and the food is fantastic! Last time I was here I ordered the Pountine and it was delicious. Must try if you are here.

Yelp
I recently stopped in Andrews for a beer and some snacks with a friend and had such a delicious time! There were a ton of people out and most of the tables outside were taken so we just sat at the bar and got our day drinking started. There were a lot of people inside too but it wasn't crowded or loud and you could still hear music in the background. We had the nicest waitress/bartender who was very friendly, talkative and attentive from the time we walked in until we left. We decided on three different apps to get, the chicken wings, potato skins and spicy fried mac and cheese balls. I can't speak for the chicken but the other two apps were amazing. Potato skins are always a winner in my book, and they had no problem adding the bacon to the side for me. The mac and cheese balls were crazy good, so spicy and I loved it! My lovely bartender informed me that the cooks all make them different and I was so thankful that I got them when they were extra spicy. This is such a comfortable place to hang out at and I'll definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Gritty and real is what you can still find in the D. The Detroit of yester year will be missed when places like this are taken over and updated. Andrew's is low key, clean, untouched since it's inception, the food is surprisingly homemade and good. All around good vibes. They have a patio too.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Andrews on the corner we had a great meal my associate had fish and chips and it looked totally amazing I had chili and the Reuben sandwich which was very good the chili was seasoned ever so spicy and the Reuben would make any Irishman proud. We're also greeted by our waitperson who did an awesome job taking care of us to make sure we were completely satisfied every step of the way helping out with menu items as well as getting things to our table prompt and hot. My associate had to get back to Joe Louis Arena so she did a very good job of making sure everything went smoothly.
google avatar

Carolyn E.

Yelp
I needed a new place to go near work when They Say acted up, so we walked down the street to Andrew's. It's clearly old, but I don't mind that. Eventually, to keep up with the bar scene, they may need an update...but it's fine. Our server was super friendly in a great way. He had suggestions for us, and had a sense of humor, which I always love. The food was quite decent - we all ordered salads and fries. My friends ordered the chef salad, and they do make their dressings in-house, so that's a major plus for me. They were basic with iceberg, but looked fresh and adequate. Mine really was tasty - I got the special spinach strawberry chicken salad. (I love a place with weekly specials) The strawberries were perfectly ripe and fresh, as were the rest of the veggies. The raspberry vinaigrette was really tasty and tangy, and less sweet, which I enjoyed. The chicken on top was meh...almost as if it hadn't been grilled fresh, but it wouldn't stop me from ordering it again. If you're going to order fries, get the waffle fries! They're perfect! My comment was, "These taste like Cedar Pointe." My guess is, if the salads at this basic bar are this decent, the regular bar food like burgers and wings is probably pretty darn good. So, I'll be back to check them out again, especially with the fast, friendly service we received.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Thought the Owner was joking About no dogs, with a dog on the patio. But no no dogs on the patio...just saying it's weird.
google avatar

Fabian G.

Yelp
Found this amazing gem the other day, when a friend of mine recently moved back downtown. This amazing bar, has got the eats, this ridiculous hot bartender Abbey and oh ya, she's got the touch. If your looking to pregame for any local sports event, or just trying to throw some back, check this joint out. They do provide shuttle services for all games. They support Detroit as we should as well by being at Andrews. There at Andrews, you got your touch tunes jukebox if needed for your jams. Outdoor seating is available and again the food is top notch. Abbey thanks again for showing us a good time, taking care of everyone even while you were slammed. Savage!
google avatar

Brad L.

Yelp
We love being able to enjoy a great meal outside and so close to the river. Great service, tasty food and drinks. I would LOVE if they would add a couple vegetarian entree options; the menu is otherwise very diverse and way better than "bar food", so a good veg burger or other vegetable based meal would guarantee more visits from me.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
After a bike ride around Belle Isle we stopped at Andrews for lunch. It's bar food that's done really well. I had one of the best reubens I've ever had and my parents had the fish sandwich which they both liked. The waiter was excellent, very attentive, and I think it was the owner who stopped by to talk and check on us. I would definitely recommend and would go back again.

Amy R.

Yelp
Best fish n chips since Duffy's. Service was super friendly and accommodating! We just had our Bookclub here and had a wonderful time, the Belle Isle Tea was excellent too! Thank you Tom and Abby for making our occasion special!

Yelp
Great! Location. 1/2 a short business block from Park Place parking - $ 4:00 for none residents, just a 4 min. stroll to River Walk, and 8 min.to the Roberts Hotel on the river. Pre gamed @ Andrew's for the Prestige Automotive Concert Series @ Roberts. Called made reservation outdoor seating. The cocktails ' Andrew After Dark ' and the Polish Eagle ' their version of ' Moscow Mule were both very tasty and refreshing. Their Buffalo Wings were generously sauced up, they were good! and yes! they made my nose run and they also made my eyes water up. Lots flavor and heat in their Jerk Chicken Bites. Enjoyed more tasty heat in their Cajun Fries. Loved their Hot Pastrami, Egg Plant Fries and Craft drafts - the Woody Wheat Ale was really, really smooth and thirst quenching. The Jai Alai was slightly bitter like IPA's but it was good! too.
google avatar

Eric R.

Yelp
Every time I go to this place, I have a good time. I'm generally a Tuesday afternoon guy. Most of the time ABBY is our bartender. Super friendly and ready with my beer as soon as I sit down. Great service and the food is real good. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Shai S.

Yelp
I had the Cajun fish and chips. Very tasty. I also had a pint of Bells Two Hearted IPA and a pint of Founders All Day IPA. Both very smooth. The service is impeccable and they even offer a shuttle to Comerica on any game days.
google avatar

Love L.

Yelp
I will start by saying the staff was great! Very attentive and friendly! They advertise that they have been family owned and run since 1918 and I believe it. I ordered the chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese bacon and avocado and it was great. My friend had the antipasto salad and that was good as well. Both items were recommended by the chef who came out personally to take our order, very nice man. The drinks were good as well. I managed to clumsily spill mine and they were quick to clean it up and replace it. I swear it only my first drink lol. They also offer shuttle service to red wings games. A little Detroit bar that is a must to check out

Pamela B.

Yelp
Andrew's has become our go to for perch dinner when we have visitors in town. Upgrading to 4 stars because their food is consistently tasty. It is hole in the wallish in a very good way.

Joanne M.

Yelp
A great find for lunch outdoors -- a very friendly family- owned business, delicious sansdwiches. Bar.
google avatar

Alexa M.

Yelp
Andrews is literally on the corner for me. This is deemed our local bar. The cool thing about this bar is they have free shuttle rides for major sport games. Just make sure to tip the driver because she's cool. I enjoy going here so much. Drinking there isn't expensive which is always a plus. They always have fun events planned. Such as AHS nights on Weds at the bar. The food is pretty good too! Matt the bartender there is always super helpful & friendly. Helping you decide what to eat or drink. There's locals that go quite often & are also great to share a conversation with.
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
This is my favorite dive bar of Detroit!!! It so reminds me of places I've been to in Redondo Beach. The staff is down 2 earth and attentive. It's hidden enough to make it a go to when you just wanna chill. It's right off the river (would be awesome if on) but still a skip walk.
google avatar

Glenn P.

Yelp
What a great place to eat and enjoy a drink. The grilled chicken sandwich was excellent as was the perch. The customer service was as good as it gets and the overall experience was one of the best in the city. I give Andrews the highest possible recommendation.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Called to ask if the kitchen was open and got a budding comedian of a bartender on the line who let me know I was ridiculous to call and ask at 11:00 pm on a Tuesday. There are far too many bars opening every week in Detroit and shuttles to the game (which once was this bar's forte) are now commonplace to spend any money here. When will bar owners understand that their blasé-this job is beneath me- I'm really a rapper-realtor-indie film star- bar staff kills joy??!!!

Darla D.

Yelp
Came out from Los Angeles and when we were exploring my gf fell off her scooter nearby so we stopped in for a beer. This cool chick suggested the Atwater dirty blonde and gave her a bag of ice for her wrist. Love this place and the location. Great service and beers!
google avatar

Cynthia R.

Yelp
Meh. Dated and poorly taken care of (antique bars can be wonderful if cared for), I felt like it smelled of mold and definitely haven't been clean around me and at the bar. I figured the food would be bomb but it was very average, Coney Island style. Four similar beers on tap. I don't want to discourage, I think it just wasn't a place for me. In an area where rattlesnake and Atwater are just few steps away I created a higher expectation. This is a very basic, casual pub. I think many people can be pleased with this place
google avatar

Sloane L.

Yelp
LOOOVVVEEE Andrews! Old bar, easy access location, food/drinks are delicious and staff is friendly!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
A recent addition to my list of "Favorite Spots in the D!" From my first visit, I was hooked! Food is always terrific and reasonably-priced, drinks are strong and delicious and the staff is out of this world. Niceguy Mike, the bartender, actually started carrying the brand of vodka I prefer as I frequent the place so often and they didn't have it on the shelf. I'm sorry, but that's awesome! Be sure to check the board for the daily Happy Hour specials! There's a cute patio area in front of the building that is home to the Drink N With Doggies event every Tuesday night. Andrew's invites everyone to bring their four-legged best friend down to hang out with them while they enjoy a cocktail or meal. They even have dog biscuits on hand for the dogs! Tuesdays also seem to be very popular for the dart-playing crowd! Thursday nights focus on live music with an alternating cast of area musicians, while Fridays are home to karaoke or open mic night, depending on the week. Saturday nights tend to have live comedy or musical performances, and Sundays from 11a-4pm, they've started a jazz brunch with $2 Mimosas and Bloody Mary's. If you're not feeling social and just want to zone out with a cold beer, there are numerous tv's scattered throughout the place with a variety of programming on at any given time (Palladia, news channels, sports, etc) as well as a couple of the touchscreen video game machines. Real Detroit and Metrotimes are also on hand. Sports fans, rejoice! They also have free shuttles to the Tiger and Red Wings games! (They also seem to have some some extra food and drink specials on game days!) Also, check out the Detroit sports memorabilia on the walls. Other highlights? They sell Atwater, both on tap and in the can. They also serve locally-made Valentine Vodka. They support local musicians! When the jukebox isn't running, listen to the overhead music! That's Detroit rock and roll, baby! The owner is pretty cool as well. Every time he comes in, he's always stopping by tables to make sure everyone is enjoying their food and having a good time. Andrews, me gusta! Thank you for maintaining such a unique charm!

Yelp
I wish I could give 3 and a half stars because I feel 3 is a little shy but 4 might be pushing it for Andrews. There is nothing spectacular about it but that's part of it's charm, and the menu for both food and drink are about as straightforward as it gets- burgers, sandwiches, bar food etc. This particular day (Thursday) was 2 for 1 fried fish sandwich day. A piece of whitefish battered in drakes and cooked to perfection between a soft roll and lettuce and tomato. Sometimes that's all it takes and this really hit the spot. The highlight of the trip was the audio/ visual lesson from the waitress, manager and cook all simultaneously trying to figure out how to get the volume to work on the TV for the ballgame. Apparently it's pretty tricky to play the sound from a 60 inch flat screen thru a kenwood tape deck from 1985 who knew? After being thoroughly schooled that it needs to be on the tape 1 setting, we got to watch the tigers finish off the Yankees like I just took down that piece of fish. Hell yes. Andrews is on the fast track to another star with a few more stops. The staff is amazing, the food is tasty and it's a perfect spot to stop for a high carbohydrate energy drink and a snack when riding bikes down the spectacular Detroit riverwalk.

Yelp
Andrew's on the corner is the most local local spot I can describe to you. Most of the time you walk in there will be 2 guys sitting at the bar and the bartender is washing glasses. Not much going on. They however do have a full restaurant and menu. Maybe the best part about this place is the free shuttle to tigers and red wings games so you can get your booze on with cheap parking before the game. I sadly have never participated in this but I definitely need to. Drinks are a bit pricey for the dive that it is but not to the point where it would deter anyone. The food in general is classic bar food but done very well. I usually get the Turkey Reuben with fries. A bit greasy but it helps grill the bread well. Fries are always hot and crispy. Overall: Great place to go before a sports game and always easy to get in to eat at.
