Great little store. Yes I'm not a City dweller. Good produce, deli. Friendly staff. They carry what they can for such a small space, but they do have nice selection of goods.

I’ve been shopping at this location for years, back when it was a true community market that prioritized quality, local products, and genuinely cared for its staff and customers. Since being acquired by Safeway, the shift has been disappointing. The quality of the produce and goods has noticeably declined, with shelves often understocked or poorly maintained. What once felt like a vibrant, welcoming space now feels impersonal and disorganized. Most concerning is how the staff seems to be affected. There’s a visible decline in morale, and several longtime employees have left or seem overworked and undervalued. This not only affects the customer experience but reflects a bigger issue with how the new ownership is managing the store. I hope this feedback is taken seriously. This store used to be a pillar in the community, and it would mean a lot to see it return to the values that once made it special.

Google
A solid neighborhood store. Super nice employees ready to help. Maybe the prices are a bit higher than other places, but you pay for the convenience of a full supermarket right in the neighborhood. And there's a real CVS still op n next door!

Google
Employees were extremely rude, they barely had anything that was on my grocery shopping list... which was super basic. Everytime I had asked for help finding something the employee that had helped me had to ask another employee where it was located. I eventually just left without buying anything I got so frustrated and when I did the manager accused me of stealing! She didn't even apologize after I let her look inside my purse she just brushed it off like it was nothing

Google
Clean, well-stocked, and very organized, but most products are overpriced. Produce is fresh, but generally low quality. Good spot to pick up essentials when you're short on time though!

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and outrage regarding the unacceptable experiences I recently had at your store. I used to shop at your supermarket frequently two years ago and never encountered any issues. However, during my recent visits this year, I was shocked by the decline in service quality. At the checkout, the cashier failed to return my change — without saying a word. Even though the amount was small, this is absolutely unacceptable. If every cashier started doing this, what kind of situation would that lead to? This points to a severe lack of management oversight. Either the supervisors are not doing their job, or worse, they condone such behavior — possibly even benefiting from it themselves. That is a terrifying thought. What’s even more outrageous is that after returning an item, I waited for days without receiving my refund. When I inquired about it, I was met with extremely rude and dismissive staff. Their attitude was not only unprofessional but downright disrespectful. What is going on with your store? How can such a poorly managed supermarket continue to operate this way? I am appalled and furious. I demand a thorough explanation and expect appropriate action to be taken regarding both incidents. This kind of negligence and disrespect towards customers cannot be tolerated.

Google
I like the dry goods selection here but feel like the meat & seafood counter always has a poor odor that permeates through the store! Owners/management need to fix whatever is going on with the smelly meat counter !

Google
Solid supermarket - except they need to properly designate the lines for each register. Sometimes there is one line for two registers and sometimes not. It’s not consistent. Plus there are a lot of displays in the way which makes it even more confusing. It’s not rocket science to figure out a floor-based signage or marker solution for this issue.

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - The upper end division of Safeway and Albertsons. Departments - Bakery, deli, floral, liquor (of course), seafood, meat, coffee shop, etc. I also liked the fact that their coffee shop serves Peet's. Atmosphere - Good size higher end supermarket. Plenty of free 1 hour street parking. I am told they have a parking lot on the other side...? But I never had to use it. Love the sinks outside the bathrooms, thank you! Open 7 days a week from 6am to 11pm. Service - 5 stars. Everyone was friendly, especially Lincoln working the self service registers. Curbside pick up available, but then how will you take your Yelp pictures? LOL. Wine tasting?!?! Price - Above average, but that is the cost for quality and service. Owner Comment - I keep forgetting that you are owned by Safeway Supermarkets (now Albertsons). Safeway bought Andronico's on 11/2016. And it probably has NOT been the same since... LOL.

Yelp
It's Christmas Day. They are closed which is surprising because to me that means they respect their employees. The checkers behave as though they are treated horribly here based on how they treat customers. I made my annual trip here yesterday. It was either here or drive to Draeger's to get the specialty items I needed for the holidays. I have vowed to never come here again after previous bad experiences checking out. This year I had grown daughter with me so I begged her to go in to get the two items I needed (and then technically I wouldn't be breaking any vows. Sneaky and kinda mean) She agreed. No I didnt tell her how very very much I hate shopping here because maybe she'd think it was fine (snickering.) Wow the complaining when she got back! When she went in she was in a good mood full of Christmas cheer. Andronico's killed that. This is just a horrible place to shop.

Yelp
Andronico's Community Market has been serving this community for a long time. It's a market that has some quality products. Usually, I've gone mostly for soft drinks, water, fruit, and pastries/cakes. The also offer a sit down area to relax and chill if you need to. Also, they have separate men & women restrooms with a communal sink just outside the restrooms.

Yelp
Walking the Inner Sunset strip on an Autumn stroll, I went to Andronicos in San Francisco . I come here to shop for groceries . They have a good selection of produce like fruits such as fresh berries , oranges and many different varieties of veggies. Foods here are cooked, frozen , melted, and raw. There are lots of drinks available and have a good wine selection for a grocery store. They also have a bar ( food bar) which has anything from chicken , fish, mac and cheese and soups . You can also grab fresh made to order poke at their fresh food counter. There is lots of desserts made daily at the Andronico's Bakery like cheesecake , fruit tarts , and muffins. There is also a place to eat your food inside Andronicos along with a Peet's Coffee inside . This Andronico's you can use your Safeway card to get discounts on items throughout the store. They also have a deli and a descent seafood section. When you go to Golden Gate Park and the Sunset strip on the Autumn Strolls which can go for miles Don't forget the cheese and wine at the Andronico's cheese and wine aisles

Yelp
Growing up, Andronico's used to be where we would go if Safeway didn't have some nuanced specialty item. Now I'm happy to say that this become my go-to grocery store (minus those TJ-specific and Rainbow Produce-specific items and bulk goods you can only get at those other two). A-plus for a big, off street, easy to navigate parking lot. Great staff and very helpful mangers. Always impressed by the cheese "section" and samples. Solid in-store bakery and great fish and meat counter. Really casts the perfect wide net for all the basics you would want to get from a more traditional big supermarket with the specific speciality and imported brands you might not find at a normal Safeway/Whole Foods. And competitive prices (for SF). Tip: the produce section is large but the layout is a little confusing and cramped. Recommend walking through it and parking your cart on the far side before the deli counter THEN strolling the vegetables and fruit stands.

Yelp
I don't know who's responsible for prices in this store/company but this is just outrageous. Downright ripping off your customers is bad business. These chocolate chips can be bought for 5 dollars a bag not very far from here. The normal price at Andronicos has been 7.50 for awhile just like the semi sweet chips are still priced at. 12 dollars a bag is just saying fuck you to your customers. It's shameful. Why are you ripping people off? Why?

Yelp
I was looking for a place to buy flowers daily -- this is the place to go! The staff here are so nice and welcoming
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
I do like they are part of Safeway now. Nothing too special about this store, but it's your standard store. The only thing special about it that I can think of is that they have a Peet's in the store (not a Starbucks like most Safeways). The hot bar fries are not bad. I also enjoy their dolmas in the deli. Overall, a good spot to drop by if you need some of your regular groceries.
google avatar

Yelp
So I go back and forth on this place....its a great market and in an ideal location. The store is very well appointed and somehow keeps its gourmet roots. Not a perfect market...by any means...but it's a jewel in the Richmond. Even though it's run by Safeway. Greta liquor and wine section ...great produce and prepared items. Great seafood and meat counter as well. Service is kinda mid...nice people but generally grumpy! I wish the decor was more upscale .
google avatar

Joel G.

Yelp
It's a grocery store. They have some other items that are a bit more fancier. They were better before Safeway took over. The workers were happier. The spirit is still there.

Jonathan N.

Yelp
A short security guard stood next to me (just now) and smiled at me as though r had every right to watch me super close and right in my face. Then he moved so he could watch me while I was in line. This is annoying and it's not the first time. Other security guards have watched me few times till they see me come into the store a few times. I am a regular. I don't usually have time for this since I'm a busy father. But this is annoying. Please train your security guess better. Watching every black man who comes into your store is racial profiling.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my FAVORITE grocery stores in the Outer Sunset area! Be sure to download their app because they always have the BEST deals and it changes every week! I think they're related to Safeway because Safeway also has the same deals as well. I've gotten free russet potatoes, more than 50% off of large cage free eggs, 50% off of mandarins clementine tangerines (these looked old and wrinkly but BOY OH BOY were they juicy! don't judge a book by its cover!!) and 50% off chips. SOO many great deals that just makes me excited every week!

Yelp
Shutting down the men's bathroom every single day at lunch time because that's where they fill their mops. So they shut down the tiny bathroom during the most crucial hour. I'm sure it saves them work but it's LAZY and CRUEL. It's been going on for at least 2 years.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm confused about the negative reviews here. Andronico's is one of the best grocery stores and the inner sunset is lucky to have them. Before Andronicos was bought by Safeway, I never shopped here because it was very overpriced (hence why help shows the 3 dollar signs). But after being bought by Safeway, the prices are much more competitive now, yet they are still differentiated from Safeway in that they carry tons of local, specialty brands that I LOVE. They have all of the new ones. It's far from perfect, but Andronicos is doing a fantastic job.
google avatar

Mary V.

Yelp
Clean, well-stocked, upscale market. The last time I saw/shopped at an Andronico's was when I lived in Palo Alto years ago, so I had to stop in when driving by recently. They offer lots of local products. I grabbed a Pressed green juice, Urban Remedy soba noodle salad, and Rustic Bakery pumpkin cookies (only available in the fall, and oh-so-good)! Do visit this market if you're in the area; Just be careful and patient when driving through tight-ish parking lot.
google avatar

Saj P.

Yelp
Best grocery store in SF? Well stocked, responsive and available customer service, reasonable prices. I know our standards are low here in SF but Andronico's feels like a suburban grocery store for all the right reasons
google avatar

Yelp
Great neighborhood grocery store. Everything you need is here. Has hot food and a meat counter and a wonderful bakery with creative cakes.

Yelp
Hello Andronico's! I haven't been here in awhile, but I was pleasantly surprised at the selection here yesterday. Andronico's produce was looking extra robust. I grabbed a couple of cartons on raspberries - they looked so fresh. I was also able to easily find frozen blackened salmon, coconut wraps (these are so hard to come by in stores), Urban Remedy green juices, and a plethora of other fun finds. The place had a nice stream of people coming and going and it seemed to be a regular grocery stop for many. The staff helping me check out - were great -and they packed and double-bagged my groceries so superbly - that I was able to run a couple of errands, while carrying the heavy loads. The check-out guy even personally inspected my raspberry cartons to make sure there was no mold on any of them. Customer service FTW! Trust.

when a store worker tell you what a crap staff they sell one wonder shell I go back there

Yelp
Are you familiar with the "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" universe? Are you also familiar with the concept of Safeway? If you answered both of my questions "Yes", then let me thank you NOW in advance for you having already made my job easier by reducing the number of concerns I might've had in mind with regards to the efficiency of this review coming from me, significantly. * Given; Safeway = Prince Adam Andronico's = Princess Adora then, He-Man would be your Safeway, and Andronico's would be your She-Ra, depending on what exact category of goods you are looking for. ** Same concept, different colors. Same promise, different spaces. Andronico's is Safeway's sister business Displaying courtesy on top of offering goods & services ** This store always - and quite MAGICALLY - manages to maintain the availability of the best bananas for San Franciscans. In addition to that, my priority for grocery shopping is - with no exceptions - to always be able to shop some supermarket where a good selection of lactose free and non-fat dairy products are shelved among their offerings. And Andronico's supermarkets are fantastic in that regard, in both of their stores, in Sunset and Outer Richmond, SF. Thank you Andronico's for sharing your vibrant colors at the checkouts as lively staff members while your fresh fruit & vegetable offerings have already polished the picture for US shoppers during our shopping! HELPFUL TIP: Your Safeway membership card would apply to the members' discount labeled promotional items you've added to your cart! Remember to use it. ;)

Jean-Yves F.

Yelp
Unfriendly, rude and non professional staff at the deli section. Serving customers is really not their priority. They slice cheap turkey hams and tried to brand it as the French ont, that's more expensive.
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
This place is legit. Top notch friendly service in the heart of the Sunset District. Great selections and prices. Definitely a go-to spot to grab a sandwich and bottle before spending an afternoon in the park. Has a community oriented atmosphere as compared to some other Safeways and Andronico's.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the local market I go to when I'm at my Mom's. They are higher end than Safeway and we like the quality and what they offer here. I think it's owned by them though. They have a good produce area, a bakery and nice meat section. They usually have everything you need. They have a nice size parking lot.

Mike Z.

Yelp
Rude cashier just admonished me for bringing one item to his checkout line. He was just finishing up with another customer; it's late so very few customers and nobody checking out. He directs me to the self-checkout line...I said I'm right here. He lectures again that I only have one item. I said exactly, I have one item. Transaction took 30 seconds. I don't need to hear this crap. If he hates his job, then quit otherwise just do it. Rude.
google avatar

Maci H.

Yelp
This place is great to get all your dinner needs if you're local! They have so many different choices and they look awesome!! I love their banana nut muffins. Very clean and has just about everything. I only redacted a star because it seemed unusual to me that they didn't have phone chargers of any kind which wasn't great for me since I hadn't packed mine. I like that they are open for long and everyone there seemed friendly!
google avatar

Riya A.

Yelp
Ordered lots of pumpkins from here for delivery. The pumpkins were good and very carvable. Would recommend, at least for pumpkins. Thank you Andronico's.
google avatar

Cheng Z.

Yelp
Very cute grocery store. Good juice and smoothie section. They also have plenty of fresh flowers.

Loffe 4.

Yelp
This place just needs to be closed down. Almost every employee is aggressive and has no idea what the store has or where it is, from the fat Pepsi girl stocker who yells at customers to the bald, arrogant manager. Won't recommend anybody going to this overpriced place. For these type of prices you can get much better service at many other stores. Save your money and time.

Grubhub S.

Yelp
Expensive for no reason and rude workers. Selling Safeway product at Whole Foods prices.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
Go elsewhere. This place is incredibly overpriced, to an absurd extent. The produce is awful, if you buy greens they may as well go straight in the compost when you get home. The layout is bizarre, but especially late in the evening. No handbaskets?! Damaged/expired items are commonly found. Just go to a regular Safeway. It will be exactly as unpleasant, but they won't pretend to be a premium shop. All that being said, the butchers are great, and most of the team is friendly.
google avatar

Roca P.

Yelp
The store is adequate however security is lacking. Yesterday as I drove into the lot, I watch a couple walk in and a few minutes later as I picked out my mangos watched the same couple walk out the front door with two 12 packs of beer, two 50(?) packs of toilet paper. Was in disbelief of the audacity but not surprised. As I paid for my groceries I felt compelled to tell the cashier. His response, "meh, not my money." Sure, but I'm sure it affects MY prices. Again, not surprised. But this attitude and us as bystanders just accepting it is why this is so common. Point being, get some real security. It affects me as the consumer.

Rudy G.

Yelp
Dear Andronico's: Why do you insist on forcing Christmas decorations on your customers in September? It is now mid-October and Andronico's is an orgy of simultaneous Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas displays. Do you REALLY believe anyone wants to see Christmas cr*p already??? It's really horrible. How about New Year's and Valentine's Day? Why wait?
google avatar

Tom J.

Yelp
A note to Sarah, store manager: Whoever hired and trained Rosalyn in the floral department and Jordan who runs the liquor department ought to be getting a big pat on the back. I came in yesterday with three vases and a budget of $100 and explained to them that my girlfriend is coming home from a long visit with her grandchildren and I need something to brighten the place up. I didn't have any good ideas about how, but I'm enclosing a picture of the work that Roslyn did with my sincerest appreciation for her outstanding work and Jordans excellent customer service covering for Rosalyn when I placed my order.

Che V.

Yelp
I consistently have issues with the deli department. Not only are they extremely slow they are rude. In particular a woman named Susan who works there- instead of listening to me when I told her I was next- pointed at the man next to me to serve him, and he- bless his soul- pointed at me because I was there before him. I told her that I was next- and she again- pointed at the man to serve him, I couldn't believe it. I asked for her name and she yelled her name and yelled back "WHATS YOURS". I have no idea why she wanted to serve the man before me, TWICE, but I felt a level of prejudice I have not experienced before in a Safeway or grocery store for that matter.
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
They have a fabulous selection of grocery items. Market is always clean and staff is friendly. My favorite items are the Rice Krispie treats and brownies from the bakery. So so good. I've tried making both at home and it's just not the same. I also love their milk selection (Strauss organic) and their Asian section is impressive.

Lauren K.

Yelp
Meat department is bad!! We recently had bought a pork butt from here for 4th of July only to open it up a few days later to a rotten smell. We thought we would try it again, and bought some pork ribs. Again, a really rotten smell from the meat. I'd never purchase meat from this store again.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Think twice about using their shopping service. This is $2.99 worth of celery if you use the pick up option and have Andronico's shop for you. ‍ Maybe three stalks? I shop there regularly but thought I'd try the pick up service. I won't use it again.
google avatar

Raquel C.

Yelp
I've had 3 experiences with the deli department. All are bad. I am currently without a kitchen. I have been eating here twice A-day for a month and every time I've actually had to go to the deli for any kind of service it has been God-awful. Obviously the hot bar is essential when you don't have a kitchen. It is over priced at 11.99 per pound. However it's decent. I would never go to that deli again. 3 different incidents where they cheaped out on me. Or how can I say the only way that they can heat up a sandwich is to pinini press the s*** out of it. I'm not even gonna get into it but needless to say. I spend $60 A-day on food from the hot bar and various juices and their deli is awful. I would never recommend this to anyone.

Alison C.

Yelp
Andronico's ought to make up its mind about what sort of grocery it wants to be. Sure. Because it's owned by Safeway they offer some Safeway type items. The majority of their items, however, are very expensive. Some of it like cheeses and wine are high end (expensive for sure), there is hot food but is hit or miss on how they're cooked, the deli section is tiny and the clerks can be moody. Quality is another story. The produce, for example, is never first quality from what I experience. The vegetables and fruits oftentimes are very stale especially the vegetables. Perhaps it's due to low turnaround which is due to those extremely high prices. As for the meat section, do not bother! Poor, useless. They hardly have any self serve packages of meats both in selection and quantity. And the meats that are offered are so stale (e.g. the beef started turning gray). Because I think Andronico's wants to stay high end and look as though they offer gourmet items, the meats they offer is an entire array in their butcher section meaning that you have to deal with one of their clerks who can be indifferent. The worst thing again are the prices of those meats. The seafood section is either frozen or in a showcase, and the ones in the showcase are not only highly expensive but not at all fresh; if you're paying those high prices then you expect fresh seafood but not here. The store also does not carry all that much. It's like just a little better than a convenience store at times: Canned vegetables and fruits are so limited and again overpriced unless Safeway has them on sale. Looking for a particular item (whatever it may be) that another grocery chain like Safeway carries results in frustration because Andronico's does not carry it. So you have to make another trip to a different grocery store to find that item.
google avatar

Liam W.

Yelp
It's basically just an expensive Safeway. However, it was quite clean and they had some really good deals on candy. I got a whole bunch of candy for very cheap. For most regular grocery items, this is just an expensive Safeway.

Lia P.

Yelp
First of all, I've been going to Andronicos for decades. My son went to school across the street so therefore I shopped there every day. And still do. But lately, a certain butcher lady has been so rude to me. I think I'm not gonna go to Andronicos anymore. She is the epitome of lazy acts like she don't see me and walks away. Then gets aggressive with me the next day by asking me do I need help over and over till it's obsessive following me across the floor. Talking crap about me to the other employees. Yes I could hear her and I told her off. Yes I did. I just want my ground beef, which actually has been tasting pretty gross lately. I get a piece of chicken in the morning and when I go to cook it at night it stinks the quality is downhill. I just want my groceries and get out of there after an eight hour shift. I don't wanna have to deal with snobby, entitled, abusive employees.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
It's always one of the most busy times in the Judaic religion to shop for the designated Kosher foods. I was pleased to find that the "Andronico's" on Irwin street in San Francisco, was well stocked for most all my needs!

TJ T.

Yelp
This store serves rich people, and people who don't care about clips the deals. People who use the Safe Way coupons should be more careful because after you check out you realize that your clipped coupons cannot be applied. When you have your concerns, they treat you as if you are not honest. It's sad but it happened to me many times when I intended to use the store deals.

David C.

Yelp
It's a good market, I rarely have complaints. They have a good selection of prepared foods and packaged foods. Their cheese, wine, beer, liquor selections are really quite good. It would be nice to have a bigger produce section.
google avatar

Jimmy C.

Yelp
When it comes to quality than quantity, Andronico's Community Markets was among the best grocery stores which was almost as good as Real Foods and Good Earth. Think of Safeway, but a bit more sustainable purchases that was more expensive. Nothing special about this supermarket in the Sunset district. I would've wanted the staff members to keep the açaí machine, just plenty of days after, they replace it with a freezer filled with mochi selections. Wonder if they replace it later on. The current visit to Andronico's was to buy Monin's blackcurrant syrup. Like Ribena, one taste of it sure hits the spot. Followed up with three good purchases of Amy's Kitchen cuisine, I get what I paid for. I be more than willing to go to Andronico's the same way I go to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. It's one store I still gonna visit.

She B.

Yelp
I've been shopping at this store for almost 17 years. They have some rare items here that I can't find elsewhere. They also have some great weekly deals. I'm mainly writing this review to say Thank You to Sean who was my cashier the other day. He's very kind, respectful and conscientious. I observed him cleaning the area and being very polite to all his customers. That means a lot to me because it's so rare these days. THANK YOU SEAN! I do miss the holiday decor that this store used to do. I wish they'd start doing it again. It was awesome!

James H.

Yelp
At the Irving Street location. The one star is referring to my one complaint about the store. Why is the wine fridge in the wine section locked, and no employee working around the area will open it up, saying we have to find someone "from the front" to open it? I was told by store personnel that the regular Andronico's wine steward, who is suppose to be responsible for the wine area, doesn't work there every day. If that is the case, why doesn't management have a backup person available for the days the regular wine steward isn't there? To Note: This has nothing to do with the regular working personnel at this Andronico's, who are all outstanding and wonderful to work with. My only complaint is with management's very misguided policy concerning the locked wine fridge.

Yelp
Great speciality grocery store that stills carries some of the staples at reasonable prices. Yes, even though they're owned h Safeway, the prices are still a tad higher for some items. My gripe right now with this location, though I still continue to go because they have the yogurts my local Safeway does not carry - it is with Gregory or was it George...he is well, not friendly or considerate. I'm not looking for someone to chat it up with me or anything ... I have a broken wrist and have a cast on. Everything is basically done with one hand/arm. I placed my basket on the conveyer belt and G was just about done with the person in front of me when I got into line. We had that awkward pause and he said "you need to take the items out of the basket." So I did as I was told - removed the basket, placed it on the ground, took the items out one by one, and then went to the end of the line to place the basket with the rest, paid and left. Please someone tell me if there are parameters about baskets on conveyer belts.

Yelp
I generally shop at other grocery stores, (which will remain nameless here.) I shop at Andronico's for two specific reasons; they have extremely good meat and seafood departments, AND they are the only place that I can reliably find Acme Bread. Of course, there are other places that carry Acme's sweet baguettes, but often they are sold out by the time I am ready to shop. Also, because Andronico's was formerly an independent, and rather specialty type store, they still carry items that one cannot find at other stores. So when I want to buy baguettes, I can also purchase other things that I normally shop for, and unusual items as well. I don't mind the lines, when they happen, and I really do like the store.
