We recently came here with a group of about nine. Parking was a challenge, as the surrounding streets and lots were packed- we wound up parking and walking from a few blocks away. We came in a slow time between dinner and lunch, so there was no wait. Overall, the staff was very accommodating and welcoming. The one hostess/bartender/waitress was so sweet and helpful!
The waitress who actually served us, however, left something to be desired. She wasn't the most friendly. She spilled water on an empty chair, then made no effort to clean it up. Most egregiously, we told her one member of our party was deathly allergic to carrots and so he shouldn't have the veggie mix with his entree (after an app came out with carrots- no offer to get him a small portion sans the carrots, btw.) When the entrees came, sure enough, there were carrots on his plate. When we brought the allergy up to her, she said "nobody told me." Umm..... yes, we did, we all heard it and heard you say "ok." And, even if we hadn't, why would you say that to a customer? Luckily, the kitchen hadn't finished plating all the meals yet so it was a pretty fast fix.
The food was ok. The portions on the mains were pretty generous and most of us took home leftovers. I got the fish and chips, and the batter was perfectly fried and crispy. The fish had a bit of a metallic and fishy taste, not to the point I was worried or totally put off, I just prefer a milder fish flesh flavor with my fish and chips. Appwise, the cheese sauce for the pretzels and marinara for the mozz sticks obviously came out of a can, and the apps seemed super processed too. Many people in our party had the steak- I cut it for one of the kids and it seemed pretty fatty, though everyone said it tasted good.
I thought the price tag was a tad high for the quality of the food and overall quality of service. This place has been around forever apparently though, and has a certain kinda charm I guess. Probably wouldn't be my first choice to dine in the area, but I wouldn't be totally opposed to going again.
