"Andytown Roastery was one of the first to raise money to provide meals to first responders, all the way back in March. They raised $40,000 and ran that program for a few months. With the money they raised, they were able to keep their staff employed while simultaneously feeding first responders in those scary first few months. That level of quick thinking is impressive and even started a movement that many other food businesses like ours emulated." - Eater Staff

Google
I saw Andytown coffee in an article on Belfast Telegraph. Whilst visiting San Fran I thought I’d check it out. Great to see someone from home doing so well.

Rosario Juan

Google
Delicious coffee roasted and prepared by the most wonderful people makes for a great combination! This homegrown roastery has grown from one shop to three and for good reason! They also bake their own breads and pastries. The soda bread is to die for. Have that and a cortado and you're all set!

Lara Reichman

Google
The coffee is wonderful and the staff is really nice. My favourite thing about this location though (besides incredible proximity to the beach) is the various pop-ups they do! So fun and a great way to encourage recognition of other local small businesses. Plus they always pair well with coffee 😊

Google
I ordered a ice coffee with cream and sugar. Tasted awful. I had to go home and add sugar and creamer to be able to drink it. I also ordered a huckleberry muffin and it was very dry. Didn't taste fresh or sweet as it was implied on the sign.

Nandita Bhargava

Google
Loved this little coffee shop- it’s tucked away next to a larger store, but don’t skip it! Had a coffee with almond milk and an espresso which came w. A bubbly water. Loved the merch too!

Ro Lo

Google
Very artistic coffee brewing. Unique method to bring you a different way of coffee drinking.

Frances Peterson

Google
Delicious medium roast coffee, hand roasted right there. Sumptuous flavors. Nice gifts in case you forgot a birthday. Yummy treats but they are mostly with gluten. Try the drink the Snowy Plover! What a surprise!

Google
$7.75 for a pumpkin spice latte with oat milk. tasted disgusting. I was *this* close to asking for a refund but didn't want to be a jerk. honestly my coffee at home is better. and i tipped the barista a $1. i shouldn't have. ($8.75 total for a tiny cup of sewer water). thanks for making a spectacular morning. whatevs man, i'm not spending money here again.

Yelp
We come to this Andytown location a lot and the drinks are always on point! I have to say no matter who is working here the drinks come out tasting perfect. The baristas here are very consistent. The Snowy Plover is one of my favorite things to drink in SF! So unique. The expresso with the sparkling water and their magical homemade whipped cream just hits every time! If you see the cheddar jalapeno corn muffin in their pastry case that's also amazing! If you come later in the day it's slim pickings for food but there's a bakery like two doors down.  Their mochas are also excellent. This store has all the cool Andytown merch which is fun to peruse and can make for great gifts. They even sell greeting cards here. This location has their roastery so it's not a sit down cafe. There are benches outside you can chill on.  -1 star for the service though. The baristas here are not all that welcoming or friendly waaaah (no greeting when you walk in and nary a smile) which is a slight bummer but I do keep coming back for the drinks.

Christine S.

Yelp
A friend grabbed me an iced matcha latte and a chocolate chip cookie from here and wow! I'm not much of a coffee shop person but I was impressed. The matcha latte wasn't too bitter or too sweet but the cookie was sooo delicious! I'm a fan of cookies on the crunchier side and the salt on sprinkled on the face of the cookie helped balanced the sweetness. I saw that there are so many options for drinks (I hear a lot about snowy plover? seems interesting!) and pastry like foods here and I'm excited to come back and try more!

Peggy L.

Yelp
Awesome snowy plover! Homemade whipped cream topped of sparkling water, brown sugar syrup and espresso... what could go wrong as you take a sip. Highly recommend anyone who enjoy extra fancy drink... to get snowy plover! Well a latte with oat milk is also very good as it's smooth and strong! As you ponder on whether if you should take a pastry or not... I dare you to try their chocolate chip cookie. It's the BEST as it's both crispy on edge but soft in the middle with perfect structure of chocolate and cookie content. BUY THESE COOKIES with no question. Service was quick and easy! The barista was very friendly and very interactive. The ambiance was very chill and I enjoyed window shopping their merchs such as cute stickers and shirts. I got some stickers last time, they were perfect small gifts for friends.

Yelp
The original bird (iced espresso with brown sugar syrup, soda water, and whipped cream) was wow, amazing! The whipped cream was incredibly thick, sweet (with a tad saltiness), and creamy; it tasted very fresh. That, mixed with refreshing soda water, was a delightful and exciting combo on a warm lazy morning. Latte (hot, with oat milk) was delicious too. It tasted a bit lighter than the other lattes I've had but also seemed to go down smoother. The texture was *incredibly* smooth with a thick creamy foamy top. The other thing I noticed immediately about this drink was the lack of any "burnt" espresso taste. I actually generally like the slightly burnt (dark roasty) taste, but I did enjoy how this latte had no trace of a "burnt" taste and yet was still roasted dark and deep enough for my taste.

Natalie R.

Yelp
Now that several other shops have sold out to investors (Philz) and also started cutting expenses to pay off the gatekeepers, we found this to be one of the better alternatives to corporate chains. Thankfully places like this exist. Hopefully they continue to remain independent and delicious.

Jack R.

Yelp
You know that feeling of pure Bliss when you discover something new? Like climbing Mount Everest or finding a hole in the wall joint that has the best food? Andytown has my favorite drink, the Snowy Plover. Any chance I get I come here and grab two to go. Parking can be very difficult, but it's worth it for that sparkling coffee rush!

Jessica L.

Yelp
To plover or not to plover, that is the question. Regardless if you plover or not, pick up a drink of choice and walk on over to Ocean Beach to see actual plovers scavenging for food along the shoreline. It's quite the date. My fiancé is a FAN of the plovers. It can be a coffee or a matcha, with pelligrino sparkling water. It is an acquired taste, but he enjoys it. So I can't tell you that you will or will not. I was not a fan. I did however enjoy their latte with brown sugar syrup. Delicious and would grab again! Especially hot, when it is cold and windy at the beach. My tip: order online. The line is almost always crazy. Their timing if notifying you that your drink is ready is pretty spot on.

David S.

Yelp
Love the coffee, the wind and sea blend is one of the best locally roasted blends around. Which is why it pains me to give them a less then great review. But the manager (and maybe she is the owner) has very poor customer service and communication skills. She made me feel unwelcome and had a hard time expressing what it was that I was doing that she did not like. It turned out she was trying to tell me that I could not bring my dog to the back outdoor area - which is fine and I would have been ok with that, had she just said that - but instead she told me that I was not allowed back there, when the rest of my party had already gone back there. I see other comments with a similar theme about customer service issues. In short, come for the coffee - but don't expect good service or a friendly staff - and if you complain about the service don't expect them to care - expect more of a condescending attitude where they feel superior to you and don't really want your business anyway. If that is ok with you, then the coffee is good.

Erica K.

Yelp
It saddens me to write this review because: 1. I used to be a huge Andytown fan and purchased their iced matcha lattes from different locations 2. I recently purchased their espresso beans and ended up with a migraine I finally decided to purchase espresso beans in hopes of pulling my own espresso shot, frothing my own milk, only to result in a migraine from this all. I reached out to Andytown's customer support to share my dilemma and was met with countless questions surrounding my nonexistent past history of migraines, if I was hydrated and ate throughout the day I experienced it, all in hopes of receiving a refund or even store credit. Through the 13 back & forth emails we've sent, I've experienced themes of defensiveness and gaslighting, which I would hope is not how they treat their staff as the restaurant and hospitality industry is notorious for. It felt like I was speaking to someone who wanted to diagnose my health, even though they would eventually share that they could not understand the correlation of espresso beans and a migraine. This overall experience taught me that there is a big difference investing $13.25 at Andytown vs. Blue Bottle, Starbucks, etc. I like supporting small businesses, but it's hard to do so when there's a lack of empathy.

Bob B.

Yelp
Great coffee & drinks The GF options could use some help but at least they have them. The 4 is due to the disgusting years of accumulated dog hair, cigarette butts, nasty outdoor sitting area that just needs a little steam cleaning. It's extremely gross to pay for a $10 coffee drink then stare at dog hair & whatever else the years of yuck have collected. Please clean your outdoor sitting area

Cindy C.

Yelp
In the Outer Sunset, Andytown boasts several locations, including this hipster coffee shop with no seating. It's perfect for grabbing a quick to-go order, which is my usual routine there. My go-to drink is the Snowy Plover, a delightful concoction of sparkling water with shots of espresso and a hint of sweetness, topped off with their homemade whipped cream. Mixing it creates a creamy, fizzy delight. It took a few tries, but now I truly appreciate its unique taste. Distinctive to Andytown, the Snowy Plover drink adds an extra touch of exclusivity to the place, making it even more special and the reason I keep coming back.

Carolyn L.

Yelp
Came here several times and I enjoy this coffee spot! It is located in the Sunset and gets busy with locals who stop by for their morning coffee with their doggos! I love their Matcha Latte! I'm usually a cold brew or ice coffee drinker, but their Matcha Latte is delicious and lightly sweet! I've tried their Original Bird and Iced Oat Milk Latte. The Original Bird is an iced espresso drink with brown sugar syrup, soda water, and house-made whipped cream! The original is slightly carbonated which makes it unique and refreshing. If you're looking for a pastry, I love the Soda Currant Scone! It is crumbly and light with currants inside and has a golden brown on top!

Josh M.

Yelp
Early = Surly! I know it was early, but don't sign up for the opening shift if you don't want to interact with people early in the morning.

Vivian C.

Yelp
Came here because we wanted to go to the actual Roastery! And we heard about the Original Bird! The Original Bird also known as a Snowy Plover is an interesting mix of espresso, sparkling water, brown sugar syrup, and whipped cream. It is in essence... an ADULT MODERNIZED FANCY BOUGIE COFFEE LOVERS SODA FLOAT HAHAHA The whipped cream is the like ice cream in a root beer or coke float. The brown sugar syrup and espresso mixed with sparkling water is like the coke/root beer. It really started tasting like a more elegant and delicate cola. In a really good way!

Chris R.

Yelp
Best coffee spot in the bay area. It is a must when visiting the city. Wish there would be a location in the east bay

Julie M.

Yelp
Very basic menu but really good coffee - smooth and not too acidic or bitter. They roast beans at that location and it smells great. Even after sitting a while my second cup from here was excellent (I got it right before a meeting and didn't drink it until after).

Bea B.

Yelp
Hey, Andytown! Here's a tip on how to make change: If I hand you $20.50 for a drink that costs $5.50, and you start pulling out singles from your till, then you're doing it wrong. (Btw: I have a few singles already in my wallet & I'm putting one in your tip jar right in front of you.) Also, you, the cashier, need the ones more than I do. If you need guidance on how to give appropriate change AND you're mute with the customer (read: me), then you've the problem. LOOK at what's happening during the transition & behave accordingly. Being absolutely silent throughout the transaction doesn't help. Rant aside, this place is OK. This is, after all, a 'training lab' and we are the 'lab rats'. Drinks are either well made or not. Counter staff is either communicative or not. You get what you get. I've given up on ordering a baked good. The Lawton shop, when it was getting off the ground, had delightful, freshly baked goods on the regular. Now, at the Taraval outposts, one either purchases a day-old (Wah! Wah!) or something more recently baked. Again, you never know what you'll receive & that's a bit of a turn-off. Pre-pandemic saw benches out front the roastery for those to sit and sip. The roastery has some lovely cards & coffee table books, if one is looking to buy a treat for someone. Credit cards are preferred*, masks are required & customer limit is in effect. *I didn't have one on hand for today's transaction & I sorely wish I had.

Eric B.

Yelp
As usual with Andytown, their coffee is decent, I'd choose it over any non-pumpkin spiced drink from Starbucks. I would just ask for less milk in most of their drinks, they usually run a bit on the milky side. I particularly like this location because you can see how they roast their beans and is within walking distance. I wouldn't come here if you expect fast service, especially if there's already a line, it might run you 10-15 minutes. They're usually pretty polite, not much conversation which is fine. I don't like their rewards program, 10 drinks get you 5 dollars off an item, but 5 dollars can't even cover a drink unless you like straight-up black coffee. I find that a bit odd, but whatever I can get off I'll take. I love their snowy plovers, It's more of an acquired taste, but once it's acquired there's no going back! So definitely stop by and give it a try.

Lizzie S.

Yelp
I love Andytown downtown, but that location is temporarily closed because of Covid and honestly I haven't been downtown in a while because I'm trying to explore other parts of SF! After playing tennis near the Sunset one weekday morning, I noticed there was an Andytown there. That was it, I was going to treat myself! I usually get the matcha plover but seeing the seasonal option, I ordered the huckleberry plover. It was so refreshing, cool, fizzy, and also yes sweet. I love that cream! The matcha plover has some Andytown competition now! Service was good, it's very clean. They sell different SF and coffee drinkers and gifts. I will be back just for a new version of the plover.

Franz T.

Yelp
This is where I usually buy my coffee. The medium roast beans are very much to my liking. The staff also brew very good coffee drinks, including my usual...a decaf mocha. The line for coffee has never been too deep and the baristas prepare patrons' coffees promptly. In addition to coffee and beans, they also sell coffee prep materials, fun stickers, t-shirts, cards. Street parking, right out front, or on the side street.

Micah W.

Yelp
Absolutely not. Came in for a quick coffee. Quick being the key word. This is not the place to come for such an order. They take their sweet ass time at this place

Naomi L.

Yelp
Definitely feel like this Andytown is less busy than other locations, yet it's the same great taste and feel of the other Andytowns. Sorry I'm not a coffee drinker! But I do love the Match Snowy Plover with extra whip. That homemade whipped cream is literally gold. It adds the perfect creamy texture to the drink. Also if you're like me and always forget to pack a reusable straw, make sure you grab two of the paper straws to use. You'll thank me later :)

Ange G.

Yelp
Thank you so much for making a generous donation to our lab at SF General! My first time having it and I'll definitely be visiting them soon! Coffee was great! I tried the soda biscuit(?) and I liked it. I didn't get to try the ice brew but my friend it was really good with 1:1 ratio of coffee and milk.

Lani S.

Yelp
I've been coming here since it opened earlier this year. This location is Andytown's Roastery but they have barista hours everyday (M-F 7-12 and Sat/Sun 8-5). There is also another location at Taraval/46th. We live between the two, but closer to this location. My husband and I are regulars (him: latte, sweetened; me: regular coffee if it's morning, but snowy plover if it's afternoon). The baristas are friendly and know us, at least by face. We sometimes come with our little Pomeranian. That's usually how people remember us. :) The coffee is good: smooth, yummy. The Snowy Plover (espresso over ice, sparkling water, brown sugar simple syrup, topped w/ fresh whipped cream) is unique, light, and refreshing. Matcha Snowy Plover is avail now, but seasonal. It is by far my fave! It is the same as original, but matcha tea replaces the espresso. They do pop-ups on many weekends. Churn Urban Creamery (ice cream) is there every Saturday from 12-5. Affogatos are avail! Needless to say, we are there almost every Sat! I look forward to the pop-ups, but either way, you'll find me (and/or my hub) here.

Tina S.

Yelp
Been meaning to try this place forever. Location is kind of in the quieter part of sunset but there are still establishments on that block. Much prefer the Matcha Snowy Plover over Snowy Plover. I'm no coffee expert, so I definitely can't tell if it's premium or not, but the coffee has a sour taste to it. Never tried a coffee/matcha beverage with carbonation, so that was pretty cool.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Most of the time when we go to SF we don't have a car. This time we did so we made it a point to drive out to the Sunset to try places we don't normally get to go to. We came here as our first pit stop. We've been to another location but came here this time. Decided to come here instead. No reason. We ordered the matcha plover and a regular coffee. The matcha plover was pretty good. It was pretty refreshing. We decided that we will order the regular plover next time. It is nice that they offer items other coffee shops don't.

Elaine Y.

Yelp
Snowy Plover. On first sip, I admittedly was not a fan. Seltzer water and espresso? Not great. Sips 2 and 3 didn't go any better, but I paid $5 for this thing. I was going to drink it no matter what. And so, I snapped on the plastic lid and gave it a little shake to get the whipped cream settled and tried it again....now THAT was good. It was smooth, slightly creamy, and had just a little bit of tingle on the finish - very refreshing! But the best part is after you've finished the coffee in my opinion. The housemade whip is now infused with the espresso and tastes amazing as you try to clean up the cup and not waste a drop! Would definitely have it again!

OnlyatBrandei S.

Yelp
I ended up here by accident- I wanted to try Sweet Passion Bakery, and then realized I'd heard about this coffee shop next door, and it smelled amazing. This is both a two and a four star review, averaging out to three stars. I'll start with the positive- my partner was having an out-of-body experience and ordered an oat pumpkin spice latte. I sampled some and it was perfect. It was unique and well-flavored, without being too sweet. I got a simple drip coffee with oat milk, with just a little sugar added because I wanted to try the coffee itself. Only after leaving the shop did I realize how sour it tasted. I'm not certain whether it was the coffee, or I got a bad carton of oat milk, but even after adding two scoops of sugar the coffee was still undrinkable and I dumped more than half the cup. In addition to the coffee drinking experience, this may be the worst-operated coffee shop I've experienced, as others have noted. When we arrived there was one person taking, and making each individual order, though the flow improved a little when a second staff member arrived.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Same good coffee as the other andytowns. I think this is where they actually roast which is cool. Didn't have as many food options as the other shops but did seem to have more swag. Nowhere to sit inside. A couple benches outside. No one was here around noon on a weekday. On weekends I'd bet it's less busy than at least the Lawton shop.

Belinda C.

Yelp
This place is so cute, it is a little place, but they also sell other items like books and stuff. I got the Matcha Snowy Plover and my friend got the regular one. I wanted to see what rave was all about. I took a sip and felt it wasn't as sweet as i expected. I took another sip and decided to mix in the cream. It tasted better when you mixed it. So i took another sip and another. But the end, i still cant' decided if liked the drink or not. So i went back two weeks later and ordered it again and sip after sip, i was still undecided if i liked it or not. Conclusion- I can't decide. My friend didn't really like her drink. However, the service was super nice. Maybe the third time will be the charm

Karen B.

Yelp
This is way cool fun crowd. The coffee is amazing. The employees are extremely very nice. Love living across the street. Stop by enjoy a real good cup of coffee.

Pete R.

Yelp
Super friendly staff who look at you with just the right amount of annoyance when you try to make a dumb joke. Delicious drinks, with a perfectly pulled shot of espresso and served at the correct temperature.

L M.

Yelp
Nothing great The biggest disappointment was the Ginger Tea ...why? Because it was just ginger Julians & hot water NO TEA of any sorts or form. That was an expensive ginger water I ever had

Dipesh G.

Yelp
Situation - On a Sunday, met a friend for coffee Pros - The coffee is very good (I'm not a coffee conneseuir, so I'm not the best judge, but it was very good) Cons - If you're not in the area, it's a bit of a way to travel to

Allegra T.

Yelp
Great Espresso, Traditional Macchiatto, Dry Capuccino and their signature Snowy Plover (Espresso, Sparkling Water and Housemade Whipped Cream) is the coffee treat you never knew you'd love! Went to both locations in the last two days and we loved this location the most! It's right across the street from the beach, which is great considering the small size of the shop. While the sister store has a few small side tables for when we want to enjoy our coffee in store, we loved grabbing our java and walking down to the water in the morning.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Decided I would try this place out since it was new in the neighborhood. I'm not a huge fan. It looked pretty nice but I wasn't impressed with the product. I see that it is listed as a "training lab." Maybe the coffee served or brewed here is an experiment? I just got a plain cup of coffee. It was really bitter and sour. Maybe I'm just not hip to the hipster type coffee but I wasn't impressed with the flavor. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I think I'll pass next time when I'm searching for my morning coffee. The girl working the counter was friendly at least.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Both versions of the plover were good. There's a nice bubbly and refreshing taste to this drink and the homemade whipped cream has a nice balance of dense and rich sweetener.

Desiree C.

Yelp
I love me a good matcha latte, but the one I ordered today was lacking both flavor and richness. The drink was lukewarm, and the dominant flavor was sweet - so sweet I could only get through a third of it. No wifi and only outdoor seating available. 3 Stars for the friendly barista. Room for improvement in the world of mean, green matchas.

Sol P.

Yelp
While in the neighborhood, I came across this little hole in the wall of a coffee roaster. Purchased a cup of regular drip coffee. Black of course! The only way coffee should be drunk. To my surprise, without even asking about how they roast their beans. I was able to notice that they do a light to medium style of roast. Which isn't half bad, considering I am a French roast pour over kind of dude . The flavors were subtle, at the beginning you're able to taste the tangible notes of the beans natural fruit. After a few seconds the tangy notes begin to settle in. It created a unique mixture which I've tasted a few time with light/medium roast beans in the past. Apparently they have a few more coffee shops around the district. The key is to keep the same consistency in making a wonderfully tasty cup of joe. The test will be to see if the flavors and notes be well balanced. I would recommend this style of coffee to anyone who enjoys a light/medium roast to their bean.

Bella B.

Yelp
Really great staff. Not as amazing as my fav spot close to the house but great nonetheless. They have an impressive storefront. That makes up for it lol. Overall I'd go back here but still prefer my fav spot :)

Nancy M.

Yelp
Rude employee who did not open on time. Could have been polite if running behind schedule. Plenty of other coffee shops to go to.

Seth T.

Yelp
Went to get some coffee per friend's recommendation and they didn't have sugar for my coffee! Seriously!!! What kind of coffee shop doesn't have sugar! This seems like an unorganized shop and not coming back.

Vanessa K.

Yelp
Great location, however it is missing seating space. It has even less than the Lawton location, if you can believe it. I love the snowy plover at Andy. It's like coffee and something refreshing at the same time. The baristas are always so nice and jovial :)

Catie F.

Yelp
The only reason this spot gets 4 vs. 5 stars is the lack of seating. While there are a couple of outdoor benches, there are no tables and no indoor seating. To be fair, seating isn't really the vibe here (although I would if I could). This satellite "roastery" location serves up all the same beverages as the first two Andytown locations, but none of the food items ... save the occasional cookie, or weekend pop-ups (which always rock). In addition to the snowy (or matcha!) plover, you can pick up bags of coffee or an assortment of small, cute gifts from local vendors. You can also peek into the back to get a glimpse "behind the scenes" at Andytown. I love this little spot, and their weekend events! I would visit more often if there were seating, and a little more to the weekend (food) menu.

Albert H.

Yelp
Andytown is one of the best coffee shops in the city - every location is great, though this one is typically the least busy. I love the lineup of pastries and locally made goods, and they make my go-to drink (an espresso con panna) better than anywhere else I've had it. Great coffee, great service!

Ada C.

Yelp
Nice spot. I only had their drip coffee. The beans are a bit in the acidic side which isn't really my thing. But good spot for an afternoon if you're in the area.

Toby B.

Yelp
We've been waiting for this day to come... Andytown is on Taraval! Now we can roll in to either Taraval location in our pajamas. YES! This is a dream come true from some hard-core Andytown fans (namely, me and my wife) :) We've been fans of the Lawton location since it opened, and our excitement about these new spots can barely be contained. I believe I shouted "I'm jumping out of my socks with excitement" as I entered the space yesterday! Is that even a phrase? Well, now it is. The roastery is a giant, beautiful space with great skylights. The bar is gorgeous, and now I will stroll down the street to get my decaf almond milk latte in my PJ's. Did I already express my excitement about that? Yes, I think I did. The espresso is top notch, as always, pulled to perfection by the fabulous Chelsea. We are looking forward to joining in on one of the coffee tastings here in the near future... Michael and Lauren, great job on the new space(s)! You're bringing joy to the neighborhood. Now, no pressure, but we can't wait till the OTHER Taraval location opens. We're jumping out of our socks! :)

Roderick T.

Yelp
First experience + No pour over + Apathetic attendant = Meh. I've experienced better. Let me start off by saying their beverages were good. I see they have a loyal and satisfied fan base, but I'm just being nit picky because.. Yelp. Why not. I was really excited to try this place out for the first time. I found out about them through Yelp's new business notifications, so I quickly bookmarked their listing to save as an option for a future coffee outing. Girlfriend and I visited them today, and I came away with mixed feelings. I browsed their Yelp listing before we arrived, saw a picture of their menu, and I knew I wanted to try their pour over option. I was disappointed to hear that the pour over was not available because they didn't have the set up ready yet. Ok, that's understandable. We also tried ordering a soy latte, but unfortunately they didn't have soy milk, only almond milk as an alternative. Well, ok, that's fine: almond latte it is. What rubbed me the wrong way was the dude behind the counter: a tall, slender man who just seemed uninterested and cold. The lack of options is totally understandable, but the way this guy talked to me just made matters worse. I asked him a couple questions about some of their offerings, and he answered with a dull, straightforward attitude. No pour over? Ok, cool. Maybe cross off the option on the menu so customers know not to bother. It'll save you the work to explain. Also, I get it. It's hard to be upbeat and excited about coffee all the time. But the extra effort to be a little more pleasant goes a long way, especially for first time customers like me who are being introduced to Andytown products through you. Your dim attitude reflects poorly on your business. The lady who prepared our beverages was night and day different in comparison. She was cheerful and nice, even giving me tips on how most folks like to enjoy the Snowy Plover. Again, I know I'm being picky, but my interaction with that guy definitely spoiled my experience. I'm so conflicted because their beverages were honestly enjoyable. Drinks = 3-4 stars. But damn, that guy ruined it for me. /rant I ended up ordering the Snowy Plover because of the many photos from their listing. Wow, was not expecting that! This drink is interesting. It's like a coffee root beer float. Espresso over ice mixed with Pellegrino, brown sugar simple syrup, and topped with a dollop of thick, homemade whipped cream. It wasn't exactly what I was in the mood for, but I'm glad I tried it because it was delicious. A tasty alternative to your run of the mill iced coffee. Hopefully my experience here was just an anomaly. Maybe we'll opt for their other locations in the future. I overheard one of the workers say that this place is where they roast their beans. Perhaps their normal coffee shops provide better experiences.

Yelp
I was very excited to see a small business, a small Sunset centered business move into the spot at Taraval and 40th. I miss the produce market (the one before the one before the one that closed before Andytown arrived) but was happy to welcome the new kid on the block. I went there on one of their soft opening days. They didn't have much, but luckily all I drink is regular coffee and cream; brewed is fine. I am not one for fancy coffee. I went there the next day, and then the next weekend. I wanted to like it. I really did. I just don't. The coffee is really bitter, and not in a good way. It is super smokey, burnt, over-roasted. I wanted to give it one last chance so I went there on a day when they had a pop-up ice-cream vendor there. That was the last time I was there. Over-priced, burnt coffee served with over-priced overly fancy ice-cream (hey ice cream folk, please perfect the "regular" flavors before you try to get all fancy making up flavors) The way the line flows is not congruent with the way the front door is situated. A bottle neck is created by the outgoing folk with their hot coffee, those waiting for coffee and those standing in line with those trying to come in the door. Such a cluster of people makes this not at all the ideal place to grab a quick cup before hopping on muni. I will stick to "it'll do" coffee at Sweet Passion when I'm trying to catch Muni or hoof it down to Java Beach; their coffee is way way better. Stop trying to make fancy. Just make coffee good. At the end of the day, coffee drinkers who drink coffee out of habit, rather than out of chasing the latest fad just want a good cuppa joe. Andytown doesn't have that yet, which is disappointing. We need good coffee on that part of Taraval.
