How Couples Across America Are Budgeting for Date Night | Eater

"For one couple, weekly date night is going to the movies: “Our most common date night is going to the movies together once a week — we love to sneak food into [the local movie theater],” making cinema outings a steady, low‑fuss way to connect and carve out regular time together." - Bettina Makalintal

This has to be one of the most dysfunctional movie theaters in Northern Virginia. I’d strongly recommend taking your time and money elsewhere. They had a fully functional self-ticketing kiosk, yet refused to let anyone use them. Instead, everyone was forced into a single slow line at the café—where one employee was handling both drink orders and ticket sales. After waiting more than 15 minutes with no movement, I asked to use the kiosks, only to be told by security and management that they were off-limits because a Santa workshop display was blocking access. Ironically, there wasn’t even a line for the Santa setup.

We love the National theatre performances and invite always a group of friends, but they are not often enough. Avalon cinema in Bethesda offers them a lot. I wish you could change that. It is lovely that you offer comfortable reclining chairs.

When I purchased my ticket to see Hamnet, I was entirely unaware I was signing up to see the movie in 4D. What better way to fully immerse the viewers into a movie with a black plague storyline than to have rodents scurrying around the theater? I felt like a true medieval peasant, thank you Angelika film center!

Google
Popcorn was oversalted (and this is coming from someone with POTS), mozzarella sticks were undercooked, and marinara sauce was fridge-cold (expected it to be hot or at least warm --not chilled). 2 of 3 drink dispensers were out of ice, 1 of 2 butter dispensers were out of butter. The lights in the theater were flickering and failing as though they weren't properly maintained. They did nothing to enforce turning off cell phones/lights/talking. A few of these items being messed up due to a large crowd from ST finale on New Years Day makes sense, but too much went wrong even for that. I try to wait to review til I visit a few times but this was my first time & too many things went wrong on this 1 visit. It would take a lot of visits for my impression of this spot to successfully improve & there's no way I would feel safe trying to eat meat from here.

Google
Honestly the worst movie theater experience I've ever experienced and this is coming from someone who used to work at a movie theater...This place is like a shell of a theater, the only thing this place has going for it is its rare movies it shows bc other theaters aren't showing them. I got "greeted" by the weirdest worker at the cafe who asked if we had tickets and we replied not yet as we were headed to the kiosks. But he insisted we had to check out with him, so we purchased tickets through him. He didn't even ask if we had a membership, so we didn't even get points for the purchase. He had a monotone voice and an aloof demeanor and made the situation so awkward. The interaction really turned me off to this place. As an avid movie goer, I understand why less and less people are going to the theaters bc even the people working there don't want to be there. If theaters want to fight back against streaming and limited theatrical releases, then stepping up customer service will really help. I prefer Alamo or Look for good movie experience and customer service....0 stars if I could

I have enjoyed going to this theater for several years. More independent and foreign language films tend to be shown here which provide a welcome variety from what major chains show. Early viewing and matinee prices to be largely competitive with other theater brands. Self service kiosks function as expected without much trouble, although I do find having to purchase tickets one movie at a time when seeing more than one the same day just a bit inconvenient. I do like the lean staff model employed here, leaving people to attend to appreciated services like concessions and cleaning rather than menial ones such as selling and taking tickets. The location uses two floors for its eating and viewing areas with adjacent and nearby restaurants for pre- or post-meal meals plentiful. The sound in the various auditoriums delivers well. Seats tend to be softer and easy to lean back without fully reclining. The floors appear to have chipped paint in a number of locations from wear and overdue maintenance I suspect. Overall though a pleasing look and feel has been preserved over the years. I look forward to coming here in the future for those independent and foreign language films of interest to me and those like me.

Ordered some hot drinks prior to getting to the establishment, the guy upfront said “I already closed the Machine, no more hot drinks” Is that the right response? Could’ve been better sure but that wasn’t What I took offense too, I tried to come up with the solution since I’ve already paid online prior to getting there so I asked what else you have so I can swap it he Said, Nothing. I asked, what should I do? His response was, I don’t know, but I told you we’ve already closed it and just left me and started helping other people. I waited for him definition get back to me, Sad to say he didn’t. He might have had Long day but He completely ruined our date, I was super Friendly but he chose to act like me being a customer there didn’t matter, made me feel unwelcome. I don’t see why anyone shoot spend their money for someone else’s energy to Ruin their night.

Google
Great theater. Senior and other discounts, depending on your eligibility. Varied and a bit pricey menu. Friendly staff. Getting fancy food can't take most of the length of a feature film to have cooked. But! All in all, it was a good experience.

Yelp
the lobby of the theater is so beautiful and modern. i went to see the fantastic four movie. didn't get dinner beforehand but i did get some cauliflower bites. they were super hot and yummy. definitely will be going back to see some of the older film specials they run throughout the month

Yelp
Angelika is a fun theater, even if it is a bit dated and rundown. Located in the lively Mosaic shopping district in Merrifield. We came here yesterday to watch "Brutalist". Brutalist is a powerful movie with great acting and some stunning scenery shots (I especially loved the scenes shot in Venice and the mountains of Italy). But beware, this movie is nearly 4 hours long! I'm curious about the inclusion of "Café" in the theater's name. There's a refreshment bar downstairs and one upstairs, but I haven't seen a café. Maybe there's one hidden around a corner I don't know about. You can get your tickets at a kiosk downstairs. I'm not sure if you can even buy one from a staffer. Matinee prices end at 2:00pm. Regular prices as of this writing are $17.50/adult, $14.50/senior and $14/child. That's notably higher than at other theaters in the area. We saw Brutalist in theater #2. In theater #2, the best view is in the third row from the top. Nice large screen and a very good sound system. But an ADA alert: the elevator was out of order on our visit yesterday. So if you can't walk up an escalator or stairs, you couldn't see a movie! And to go back down, there is not an escalator (the escalator only goes up).

Yelp
This was My first time seeing a movie at this theater! It was lovely! The popcorn was fresh and salty and they had updated fountain drink machines where you can pick from a huge variety of drinks! The theater was clean and the screen was huge! The people working there were super friendly as well!

Yelp
I have not been to Angelika since LOOK (previously known as Showtime) opened up at the Boro in 2020, but a recent showing of Moana 2 reminded me why this local theatre is so beloved by the area. Things to Know: + Prime location in Mosaic makes a visit to Angelika feel like a full experience. You can grab lunch nearby, play on the lawn, and browse the book-store and Target afterwards. Park once (for free!) and you've got a bunch of activities right at your fingertips. + Stunning venue with two floors that look over the entire center. So beautiful, especially with the twinkling lights during the holidays. + Kid Friendly: They have several sensory friendly and crybaby matinee showtimes for young children. In addition, they offer little cinema booster seats for toddlers. This made my three year old's first movie experience so much more enjoyable. She LOVED being able to sit in her own seat. + Special Movie Events: This theatre is known for their special showings of classics, anime specials, and more. Everyone gets dressed up and in the spirit which makes it extra fun. + Things that could be improved on: More bathrooms, reclining and heated seats Overall, a really convenient place to experience movie magic.

Yelp
This used to be such a great place to see a movie. The last two times I've been here it has not been enjoyable. Here are the problems: -- The cinema is very dirty. The plexiglass steps are completely disgusting smeared with stuff. -- The concession stand on the second level is in disrepair. The napkin holder was duct taped to the counter. There was tape on the refrigerator display to hold it together. -- Bathroom had no soap or paper towels. -- Concessions were out of pretzel bites and hummus. -- Mozzarella sticks were inedible. They were cold after waiting for over 20 minutes. We threw them out. -- Paying close to 50.00 for concessions would make one think that they would be good. -- I'm glad the movie theatre was dark so I couldn't see what it looked like.

Yelp
Excellent theater with fine food options. We came for the Complete Unknown matinee (1pm).

Yelp
Drove an hour to watch a David Lynch movie and was not disappointed. The theater was fairly large with 3 rows in front and 12 standard rows. Buying tickets was easy at the self serve kiosk and despite trying to force attendees to buy tickets directly next to others I was able to get to my movie quickly and easily. The programming at this theater looks pretty cool with lots of plays I don't normally see. Previews were 20 minutes long for an art house movie, advertising wasn't excessively annoying and did have events I would return for. The area is really cool with great options for food so I didn't need to purchase food for the movie but it did seem like they had a decent alcoholic drink selection. Parking on a rainy Friday wasn't bad at all, was completely free and there is a lot to enjoy in the area on foot before heading to your film.

Megan S.

Yelp
They have rats. Overpriced and gross. We saw a rat during our movie in the very back row

Nancy L.

Yelp
star poor customer relations. Their Mosaic location had issues with internet, so could not process payments. They would not even accept cash. The less than helpful or polite staff insisted the only option was to go on their app and buy a ticket with the added fees. Remember... they had no internet! This was for an 11 a m weekday movie. No one was there, except for me and my friend. The lack of common sense of how to treat customers was confounding. There are so many ways this could have been handled in a professional and polite manner and allowed us to see the movie (it was playing fine). They have plenty of competition from much better theatres in the area. Train management and staff on the importance of customer experience. They lost 2 loyal customers.

Yelp
I'm glad Mosaic has a movie theater, but this one's pretty expensive, lacks some amenities, and booking online/ tickets is a bit annoying compared to other theaters. I'm an AMC A-List member, so I really only come here to see films AMC isn't playing (indie/art house/ events / Netflix-produced content). Pros: - Convenient location with a better selection than most theaters around here. -WAY nicer than the Manhattan Angelika. This theater actually has cup holders! What a world. Though I did run into Marion Cotillard in the bathroom of the Manhattan Angelika, so maybe they're about even. -Clean interior - Lots of snack options. Good alcohol options. Cons: - Expensive. Paid 19.99+ with fees for a Saturday matinee-time showing. Food is expensive too. -My flatbread wasn't as tasty as the AMC Theaters flatbread, which is sad because they microwave theirs. - Seats don't recline or anything, pretty standard theaters. - When this theater first opened, they served the world's most amazing caramel popcorn. Where is it and who do I speak to to get it back??? Overall, Angelika Mosaic is a good option, but I wish they were either less expensive or offered a membership service like other theater chains. For the price of the food, it would be nice if they had a delivery-to-seat system like Alamo.

Yelp
This movie theatre was absolutely massive! We walked up two flights of stairs to get to our theatre. There is an elevator available. Because our movie was at 10:20, we arrived around 10:05. The only food available: bakery items that were in the display case, popcorn, and hot dogs. The first food area where the bakery items were would not make coffee because it was after 10. I admit I was excited when I saw the chicken club but I understand needing to shut the kitchen down. The popcorn was delicious. The ambiance was interesting. I've never been in a movie theatre that huge. We went around three hallways to get into our specific theatre, I assume to lift you up further but it was a bit ominous due to the darkness. The music at that hour was also a bit ominous. The seats were okay, could definitely be wider for how high-quality the rest of the place looks. I'll most likely return but during the day when it will feel less vast and empty--and when the chicken club will be available :)

Dana H.

Yelp
The Angelika was a nice theater when it opened, but the place needs a facelift. As an example, only one of the men's room stalls actually has a door that closes (and this has been the case for a year now). They have a good selection of films, and play some unique showings, but the owners should be ashamed about their poor upkeep.
google avatar

Corine H.

Yelp
Still my favorite hideaway, especially during a weekday, when you can possibly have the theater to yourself (useful especially if you remain Covid-cautious). It could use a refurbishing soon, as the seats are beginning to feel their age a bit. The outside of the theater is surrounded by beauty and, at night, can even border on whimsical. The concessions bar is cute; the prices are high.
google avatar

Mike R.

Yelp
This is an extremely nice theater in the mosaic district. A big improvement over the Merrifield theater years ago. It's hard to believe the number of changes. Here you reserve your seats online. My preference is the back, but we are all wired differently. Seeing Maverick here was pretty good. There are some better screens in the area, and the sound system is okay here. Seating is tremendously comfortable. Parking isn't always easy, but you should be able to find a spot in the garage. The upscale look is appreciated too. Also you can get beer and wine here. As you can imagine it's expensive. Yet that's demand, and pony on up. I like this theater, but it's not my personal favorite. Yet if in the area it gets my recommendation.
google avatar

Rebecca F.

Yelp
This is more on the premium side, small, specialty theater. No IMAX, no reclining seats. But the do have special showings in addition to the main releases. I can't speak for their cafe but given that this located in Mosaic, I'm sure you have better options than a movie theatre cafe. Because it is a smaller theatre and ticket prices are on the expensive side, there usually isn't a crowd. The facility is very nice. It had self service ticket booths. The time I went, I got matinees tickets which makes the tickets more on par with big box theatres like AMC or Regal. But they do show older films from time to time. They seem to have a soft side for Anime. For example, this past summer they have been playing Studio Ghibli films. Nearest parking would be the free parking garage at Target.

Yelp
I came here with some friends to watch Barbie. The theater is located in a modern multi-story building. There is a cafe on the first floor and the film center is on the second floor. There's a snack stand right outside the theaters. The menu seemed to offer a lot of fast food style options - hot dogs, burgers - as well as popcorn. They were a bit overpriced but hey it's a movie theater. To the right of the snack stand is a hallway with a bunch of movie theaters. There is a bathroom towards the end which was giving airport vibes. It was super quick and easy to enter. The guy just scanned our tickets and we were allowed up, no bag checks or anything. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would come again to watch another movie!

Yelp
My wife and I love the Angelika for several reasons: 1.) clean and well-managed facility; 2.) great selection of premium food/drink/adult beverages; 3.) amazing selection of offbeat and "arthouse" films; and 4.) special events like "Angelika Classic" nights. Last night, we attended a screening of "Pretty in Pink", with about 75-90 other 80's generations "kids" and their families. What absolute fun! The crowd oohed and aawed, laughed and clapped, and cheered and jeered. it was a fun atmosphere driven by a wonderful idea: bring old movies from our teenage years back to the big screen. I cannot wait for the next Angelika classic night!

Amber D.

Yelp
Communication between staff and customers was off. The theatre was freezing cold almost as cold as it was outside! My 5 year old son coughed the entire time and had to keep his winter coat and hat on. The manager wasn't accommodating only saying she didn't know and it takes awhile for the theatre to warm up. I live across the street and will not be going back I'll take my business elsewhere

Yelp
11/28/22 "Wakanda Forever" will forever be imprinted in the mi as of kids and adults. Chadwick Boseman will live on in our hearts and minds until the individual forgets him. Hopefully not. Seeing Black Panther: Wakanda Forever very memorable indeed. The move honored the memories of Chadwick Boseman in the movie more than one time throughout the movie. I can't see Disney stopping the making of more of these movies. The clothing, the colors and the overall beauty of nubian culture and other races in this movie makes this move stand out more than any other marvel movie. Disney has a very good thing going. I look forward to seeing more films of Black Panther. It isn't just Black Panther that makes this movie good, but the people/actors (Meaning women and men) in the film that give the Wakandan world life. Now ask for the Angelika Movie Theater, we came in for the early morning matinee showing of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I am glad they didn't call it Black Panther 2, but I digress. The Angelika Theater had employees working in the food courts, but no one checking for movie tickets. Evidently, at the early hours, checking for tickets or getting them in person is a thing of the past. Cleaning the bathrooms and taking care of the theater rooms are more important. The Angelika Theater is one clean movie theater. I do suggest that the men's urinals have anti-bacterial floor mats on the ground. This would help keep puss on the floor that would create puddles. Keep up the great work. I will say I have never really seen anyone use the third floor for drinks. This is a shame, because it is nice up there.
google avatar

Shannon S.

Yelp
I like this movie theater. I came with friends to see the Woman King. I didn't eat any food or snacks, so I can't speak to that, but the decor and ambiance of the theater is really nice. It's different from AMC and Regal. I would definitely return. It is in the mosaic district.

Scott T.

Yelp
Most people can stream all day long. As the Academy Awards demonstrated last week, Independent Film is a treasure. Support Independent Film, all cinema, and this a great venue to do so. Weekends can be crowed with farmer's market and inquisitive browsers.
google avatar

Stephen J.

Yelp
The theater setup is reminiscent of a orchestra theater. Jazz played in the outside theater area. I really enjoyed the pre previews music soundtrack. The non reclinable seats were comfortable and I had a good seat from row K. The theater has a cafe on the first floor and real food concessions on the 2nd level. The matinee price and independent movie offerings are top notch. Treat yourself!
google avatar

Kevan S.

Yelp
Came here on a whim needing to use up time waiting for my cats to get spayed. Matinee was $10 plus tax. Prices seem more reasonable than other theaters. Has an indie art deco feel like the AFI Theater in Silver Spring or Alamo Drafthouse in Crystal City. Very clean, very chic from the floors to the bathrooms. Just a cool place to be. Will definitely come again. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Insane overpriced food beverage tickets, Customer service is lacking, no answers or resolutions for management we found unacceptable
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
I love this theater and have been going to the Mosaic District since before the movie theater opened! It's only about 20 minute drive from home for me. I especially like going on Sunday morning matinee is only $12 and you can pick your seat online and secure your ticket before going. Especially on Sunday mornings when there's a farmer's market till 2 PM year round that's also dog friendly! Parking is easy in the Target lot next door and always a breeze getting in and out of. They also show a lot of classic movies and the cafes are nice as well but can get pricey. My only real complaint is they need to overhaul the seats as the last couple times I've gone my back shoulders hurt from the chairs there! Not sure how often I will be back until they update the seating which is a shame because I love this theater so much! Great options for dining next door -- I generally go to Sheesh and there's a new Te Amo bubble tea place now and the ever-lasting Pastry Xpo is always a hit!
google avatar

Mischa J.

Yelp
Very nice little cafe on the bottom floor of the movie theater, but they do not carry brown sugar or have a recycling bin (as of this writing at least). Some people, like me for example, prefer putting all natural brown sugar into our beverages. Also, recycling is very important, whenever possible. Some of the items were also overpriced in my opinion. Other than that, this is a great and cute little cafe, and their cappuccino was awesome.

Alexandra M.

Yelp
they mislead us on the phone that they could merge tickets onto the same day, only to refuse to do it when we showed up with our whole family, the greasy grey haired manager immediately was snippy with us and had so much attitude. we have liked this theatre for 12 years but none of us are coming back here again.
google avatar

Frances S.

Yelp
They still have matinee prices here, making them likely the most reasonably priced cinema in the area if you go early. They also have some LEGIT looking snacks, so he'll, go early, splurge on snacks and have a lunch date.
google avatar

Nneka M.

Yelp
Very stylish theater! Perfect for a matinee with plenty of free parking and restaurants nearby. Prices are comparable to other theaters, but I love the $8.00 "coffee club" price for showings before noon. You can also preorder tickets online and reserve your seating. The theater is clean and so are the bathrooms, but attendants have to be thorough in order to maintain these areas. Food is expensive here. But overall, my first visit was great, and I'll look forward to many midweek matinees.
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
One of my favorite theaters in the area. They show a mix of blockbusters and indie films so there's something for everyone. It's one of the the cleanest and best looking theaters as well. The snacks, food, and drink options are pretty good, slightly elevated compared to the other chains. Also, if anyone at concessions is reading this, please bring back the tandoori yogurt flavored popcorn, it was A1 but for some reason you got rid of it. Parking can make getting to your movie on time tricky depending when you go so plan ahead. Perfect place to head to before or after dinner.

Becker C.

Yelp
Just awful. On a 100 degree day they didn't have AC. It was 90 in the theater. They said it had been that way for a week. No refund of service fees. No fans. Not able to (unclear why) switch to another room despite plethora of auditoriums. Bad customer service. We wanted to like this place and were excited to see their offerings. Beware - this place doesn't give a flying crap about their customers' safety. Trying to impress with expensive food options when they should worry about heat stroke and doing business honestly. . Lost money, time and they don't give a rat's ass.
google avatar

Taylor D.

Yelp
I was here recently for my first visit to a movie theater in years. I had actually been to this theater a few times before. The theater is nice. They have both a little cafe downstairs and a concession stand upstairs. The concession stand had beer and wine as well. The staff were friendly at the cafe. When I bought tickets online I was able to choose my seats. My only complaint is there was not a ton of space in front of the seats so you can't stretch your legs at all, but the seats themselves were comfortable and the theater was clean.
google avatar

Jordan N.

Yelp
My new weekly movie theater. Much better experience than the dirty and trashy AMCs nearby. Great service, reasonable pricing, and perfect for Mosaic residents.
google avatar

Morgan C.

Yelp
Extremely rude upon entrance at the café. Immediately was questioned when I walked into use the restroom. I explained I was going to purchase something afterwords as I didn't want to hold my coffee while going to the bathroom. The lady said "oh yeah what are you going to buy?" I said I didn't know as this is my first visit. She spoke to me like I was 14. I said forget it, you're being rude. I left and went to get my food at the little mom and pop eatery next door. Everyone was nice there! I would give this café no stars if I could. Not welcoming, ageist and argumentative. Don't waste your time.

Barbara K.

Yelp
Food, ambience and service were the best on this area. The location is great for the other restaurants and shopping
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Large amphitheaters and wide screens that immerse you in the cinematic experience. Angelika film centers is a chain but only has a handful of locations. Interesting exterior and interior design. It has a different vibe than most of the traditional commercial cinema chains; it has clean cut futuristic/modern style. One thing that I'm not too satisfied about is the small number of machines to buy tickets from. Nor are there sufficient food stall attendants especially when there's many, many moviegoers.
google avatar

Nora A.

Yelp
Awesome location but geez please upgrade to recliner seats ! If I'm paying full price for movie tickets in this area, I fully expect recliners and not those awful hard back chairs. I only visit this theater if something rare is playing (like The Exorcist in October), otherwise I'm going elsewhere until the seats are updated.

Yelp
I've been here twice and prefer the AMC Theater at Tyson's II. The movie theater is quite small and compact. Although I like the wide selection of wines, ciders (the pear cider is quite good!), and cocktails, I'm not a big fan of the layout and concession stands here. Keep in mind that they stop serving drinks/food 15 minutes after the last show starts. During the middle of the movie, I wanted another drink and was declined with a sigh and a frown. I don't know why you have to go upstairs to get a cocktail? I would prefer getting cocktails and food in 1 place. I didn't like the Moscow Mule and after a few sips, I handed it to my husband. The popcorn is extremely salty and tastes stale even when it's made "fresh" in front of me. I still haven't received a good batch of popcorn. I also didn't realize that the bucket of popcorn is twice as expensive as the bags. The "gourmet" food looks quite sad and a far outcry from the appetizing pictures and scrumptious descriptions. I have yet to order anything. I can't remember seeing any candy. With so many restaurants around the block, I wouldn't bother ordering any food here and generally head over to Cold Stone before going to the movies. If I'm in the area getting dinner and a good movie is playing, then I'll head over to Angelika to grab a drink and catch a movie. Otherwise, I'm AMC Tyson's II all the way! I prefer the large theater, nicer bartenders, better cocktails and popcorn, and wider selection of candy and snacks.

Josie B.

Yelp
Angelika appears to be getting a bit long in the tooth. The entire facility needs a good cleaning. Theater 6 had a strong odor, which we determined was rancid popcorn butter. Disappointing for what used to be a great place to see a film.
google avatar

Maggie R.

Yelp
I have only been here a few times. I can't speak to the quality of the food or alcohol because I haven't tried it yet, but I can speak to the rest of my experience. The staff is friendly, the seats are comfortable, and the presentations are high-quality. Most recently, I went to see a matinee where parents brought their babies. The ticket lady warned me that it was a "crybaby" showing, but I honestly didn't think it detracted from the experience. Parents were responsible and took their children out when necessary. One of the best things about this theater is that they offer showings of films that you can't find anywhere else. For example, this theater is where I saw Makoto Shinkai's "Your Name." I salute any theater that shows a new anime film. Thank you, Angelika!

Yelp
Date night excursions.... Looking for a change of scenery but want to stay local, then check out the Mosaic district in Fairfax, VA. This area is filled with vibrant people busy shopping, checking out a movie at the boutique theater, Angelika Film Center and Cafe, or grabbing a delicious bite to eat. When visiting the Mosaic district you must check out a movie and have a glass of wine or beer while enjoying the show. I say skip the popcorn and indulge in the hotdog. Not sure if I was very hungry or the hotdog was just so damn good. The seats are comfy and the atmosphere is cozy, modern and trendy. A new theater favorite. Afterwards take a walk through the lawn and head over to one of the best restaurants in town, True Food Kitchen. Step out of your box and get ready for a medeterranian cuisine, food adventure. The food didn't disappoint and our waiter was great. Loved how he aimed to please and made all of our request come true. The energy was high. The restaurant was busy and booming. The wait for a table wasn't long which is always an added bonus. We will definitely be returning soon. #fullandsatisfied #meandmymrglenn #datedsywithbae #fallynsfoodieexcursions #truefoodkitchen #mosaicdistrict #angelikafilmcenter

Yelp
This place was very rude when we wanted to use the space for homework. They up charged the drinks that were displayed on the menu. Will not be returning. Water bottle was 7$. No coffee flavors and the coffee tastes horrible. Do not come here!!!

Yelp
saw the Movie "The Creator", left my mobile phone, cleaning staff recovered and returned timely, overall a positive experience. Great place to see a movie and to get a bite to eat at a reasonable price. Respect and shout out to "Frank", the manager(s), and everyone that contributed to the result

Yelp
A Saturday night well spent watching Black Widow at the Angelika Film Center and Cafe at Mosaic. It was our first movie at a movie theater since the pandemic, and we both give it a thumbs up. Food was good too...loaded nachos, barbecue boneless chicken wings, and popcorn. Angelika is one of the nicest movie theaters I've been to, but I was missing the cushy recliners with tables and I'm still complaining about the $10 I spent on our two water bottles!!

Yelp
There's is a difference between a Theater and a Cinema. A theater is the basic package of what you get at any other business that screens movies. Angelika is a cinema as in it provides an entire experience. The beautifully designed building provides multi levels of entertainment and is not short on natural light or beautiful views! Well worth the price of the ticket and food in my personal opinion. They offer a wine and beer bar on all levels so you don't have to worry about carrying your Pinot up or down the stairs to your seat. They appear to also do showings for more indie and old school films as well which is refreshing and looks like it could be a great evening out! I can't wait to visit again!!!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite theaters. The amenities they offer are nearly unparalleled. Recently I went to see Venom. I've been here a handful of times and never realized they have a bar at the top level. You can order cocktails and the bartender makes them to your liking. You can also take that drink with you into the theatre which I really appreciate. The food they offer is also great.

Yelp
Angelika is one of the two main indie theater chains, and I've been to their NY flagship location a few times. Purchasing the tickets online was a piece of cake, or you can always go up to the ticket stand once you're inside. They have a concession stand with popcorn, candy, as well as 'gourmet' style treats, and drinks, in which you can also get half off after watching your movie with your ticket stub. The theater rooms are smaller and more intimate. Some of the issues I've had with this theater is the off-putting smell in the theater rooms and the lack of attention to the bathrooms' cleanliness. Patrons are a hit-or-miss in terms of being respectful and courteous throughout the viewing, depending on the type of film you're watching and the crowd you're sitting with. Located in the Mosaic, there's plenty of free parking. +half-off at the concession stands after viewing with your ticket stub +convenient online ticket purchasing +free street parking around Mosaic

Yelp
This was my first experience with an Angelika theater and I was pleasantly surprised. It had an upscale vibe without being too crazy modern. I like that they have the Coca-Cola freestyle machines so I could make my own crazy coke concoction, and the bathrooms were clean and spacious, with plenty of room for you to put your stuff down without it touching the floor. My drink did cost like $6, which is nuts for a soda, but I refilled it like 4 times to really get my money's worth.

Yelp
We went for a Friday night showing at 10:40. First off, there's a serious lack of customer service throughout the theater. There were only 2 people working the food counter, line was long. The guy who scanned our tickets didn't speak one word - completely mute motioning for our tickets with a grumpy face. The bathrooms are filthy and smell disgusting like they haven't been cleaned for days. The worst part of the experience was the fact our theater had no AC. It was terribly hot and humid and smelled. You would think for $17 a movie ticket they could turn on the AC. If AC was broken in that theater, don't use it. Just go to AMC - at least you know you'll have a level of service minimum there.
