Let's call this what it really is, Tex-Mex. I've been to enough Mexican restaurants in my day to tell authentic from not. Yes the chips and salsa were good, but the food left me wishing I had gone somewhere else. Our waitress, was new, and had to ask us what kind of drink we had ordered because she had no idea what "Negra Modelo" was. She was friendly enough, I just think the training was a brief review of menu items and she was thrown to the wolves.
When we got our food my chicken was really dry. They made sure it was really dead. I hate dry chicken and if you can't make it better than me, your place is off my list. The refried beans looked like they were fresh out of a can... and reheated. The rice was flavorless, which is typical for a lot of Mexican restaurants, but there was no hiding it.
The review could have been a 3 star, but what drops it down to 2 for me was my wife's meal. Her burrito came wrapped in aluminum foil, and cut in half like that. I'm sorry, but an entree that cost $11 should not be presented like that. She wasn't going to pick it up and eat it like a wrap, come on. She had to peel off the foil to eat it, and get sour cream all over her hands. Maybe you think I'm being a snob, but seeing an aluminum foil cylinder flanked with orange color rice on one side and a dog food plop of beans on the other does not make your mouth water.
