15 Best Restaurants in Atlantic City at the Jersey Shore | Eater Philly

"It’s always 1981 at Angeloni’s in the best way possible. This recently reopened Ducktown bar and restaurant has kept the ambiance of its golden days and added a sexy dinner and drinks service, late-night DJs, and pop-up events with guest chefs. Jersey Shore staples like clams casino and short rib pappardelle are a great start, but go for full Angeloni’s vibes with brunch at the bar; the pancake special goes great with a Garibaldi, orange juice, and Campari, or Girl Dinner — a dirty martini with a playful side of gummy worms." - Annemarie Dooling

What an amazing experience! This place was like walking into a time capsule. The staff, the food, the atmosphere was such a wonderful experience. The whipped ricotta was one of the best I’ve ever had. Seafood specials dish was nothing less than a feast for royalty, fresh, tasty and delicious. Raviolis were seasonally delectable and so was my sisters pasta. This place is a true gem to Atlantic City and I will certainly be back. Oh! The cocktails were all delicious and the house wine was perfect for the table. I believe the GM here greeted us at the end of the night and gifted us tiramisu 100/10 I HIGHLY recommend 😌

Vibes are immaculate! Also, great Italian food well prepared along with creative appetizers and very attentive service. Very well decorated and Instagram worthy. Worth a visit whenever you are in AC… don’t forget to try a cocktail or three from their unique selection.

Not worth the money! Beautiful decor but doesn’t make up for the food. We flew in from Florida just to be disappointed. My fiancee was charged twice!! To find a number for this place to speak to a manager is almost nonexistent! They offer no special accommodations for birthdays other than a blank postcard! We’ll never return and do not recommend! Response to owner: Unfair? We had to go through hoops just to communicate with you! You probably wouldn’t have responded to our concerns regarding the second payment transaction, if I hadn’t done a review! Why isn’t your number listed?! We had to search for your number. We called, texted and messaged you on Facebook. The texts had an automated response. That’s when you saw my review and asked us to take it down. In my opinion, you, as an owner should have answered the first time when we called instead of texting back that you were in a “loud area” and couldn’t talk. Regardless of how you process the payment transactions, I stand by my POV on the food! The broccolini from my fiancé’s dish had too much vinegar and the pork was under seasoned. He agreed. My dish tasted like the sauce came from a can; there was way more pappardelle than short rib, which was under seasoned. The waitress saw how much food was left on my plate; asked if I needed a box and I declined. The bruschetta had way too much cumin or some other spice that overpowered the dish. We didn’t enjoy it and it was taken off the bill. (Thank you) My step-daughter’s dish had shrimp (I’m allergic) so I couldn’t try it. However, she said she wouldn’t come back because the food wasn’t worth the price. (She resides in AC) Also, the cheese on the salad was excessive. If we would have complained to your waitress while we were there, our entire bill would have been compensated! But we paid and decided never to return. We didn’t want to cause a disturbance to others so we paid the bill and left quietly. Receiving a blank postcard for a special occasion was not very exciting to say the least. Now I know why your number is not listed!

A Late-Night Gem with Retro Vibes & Unforgettable Flavors! My partner and I stumbled upon this place during a late-night craving in Atlantic City, and wow—I’m obsessed. From the moment we walked in around 10:30 PM on a Saturday, the retro 70s/80s decor & music transported us to another era. The vibe was electric, thanks to a DJ spinning throwback tunes that matched the aesthetic perfectly. We started with drinks, and I was thrilled they could craft a -passionfruit martini &mocktail*—it was divine, served with a cute little shooter of Sprite (such a classy touch!). For appetizers, the crabcake (with butter and arugula) and meatballs were both delicious, but the real star was the rib tip pappardelle. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the homemade noodles were perfection, and the rich sauce had us savoring every bite. We took tiramisu to go, and it might be the best I’ve had in years. Shoutout to our server, who was an absolute doll—attentive, warm, and added to the fantastic experience. This place is nostalgic, fun, and serves food worth raving about. We also got two beautiful post cards to take home when the check came. If I could teleport this restaurant to my hometown, I would. 10/10—will be telling everyone to go!

Google
My first time in Atlantic City and I really thought there’s no way I ever need to come to this town again for anything except then we came here to Angelonis and now I must come back. The atmosphere is my favorite of any eatery ever- the vibe the decor the mirror ceilings, the lighting is perfect, the records and the velvet and the powdered soap.. all of it! The drink menu was lovely, I had the girl dinner complete with gummy worms. The food was literally the best Italian I’ve ever had. The sauce on the eggplant is something I will not soon forget- so fresh and flavorful and I will come back to Atlantic City for that alone. The mozzarella-OMG. The chicken cutlet hell yes. The meatballs oh yea. That pesto with pistachio I stuffed my face I’m telling you it was so good. This is a must visit type of place and I’ll tell everyone I know about it anytime AC comes up in conversation.

Had a great time with my wife and another couple. Cool spot with friendly service and very good food. We loved 7/8 dishes we ordered - try “a little bit of everything” and the pastas.

Google
We had an absolute blast at Angeloni’s Club Madrid! We visit AC twice a year and always make time for favorites like Dock’s and Knife & Fork, but this spot is now firmly on our list. The short rib pappardelle was outstanding—deep, rich, and packed with incredible flavor. The fresh pasta in the cacio e pepe was simply phenomenal, and the fried calamari was perfectly crisp and delicious. The music was another highlight—an amazing mix of '80s alternative, mainstream hits, and R&B that any fan of the era can sing along to. The vibe here is fantastic, and if you're looking for great food, great music, and a great time, this is the place to be. We'll definitely be back!

Google
5 of us came here from out of town for a friend's bday drinks and dinner before hitting up a casino. I am truly obsessed with vibes and decor--sultry, whimsical, laid-back, cool. The drinks were nice and strong. We all got different pastas and had no complaints. The spicy vodka rigatoni was actually spicy which was so appreciated--nothing worse than a menu claiming spicy and it's just blah

Yelp
Angeloni's Club Madrid is my new boo thang! The deets: * Drinks: Uhg, their seasonal Aaron Garcia ! If you want a unique spin on an old fashion, this tequila old fashion will change your life! It's got a touch of sweetness with the gingerbread rim but the bite of tequila and smokiness of the drink perfection. This drink is served around the holidays. Don't sleep on their other drinks though, their Girl Dinner martini hits! Food: Their short rib pasta. Get it, you're welcome. I love you too! Ambiance: Their ambiance gives all the 80s vibes. Unique bit with all the class. Sit at their bar for a little bit of a low key vibe or sit in their dining room area for more of a full service vibe. I've visited several times and each time, the service is amazing! Parking: Parking is tough. There is street parking available but it's limited. As always, so excited to you! -A

Yelp
Everything is amazing. The ambiance and vibe of this place is my favorite of anywhere I've been- they cut no corners when designing the space to be relaxed and nostalgic and inviting and so comfortable. Mirrored ceiling, velvet chairs, the perfect lighting, fun bathrooms, records playing. The food is amazing and I'm gonna go back to Atlantic City again because I will be thinking about the sauce that was with the eggplant for the rest of my days. The mozzarella also and the pesto pasta OMG YES GIVE IT TO ME! Fabulous drink menu and the dessert was excellent as well! If you are in AC and want the best Italian and the best vibe you gotta go here no doubt there's nothing better!

Yelp
This bar & restaurant is located in the Ducktown neighborhood of Atlantic City & has a private parking lot across the street. It'll transport you back to the '80s & the vibe here is unmatched. Bartenders are super friendly & helpful. Kate whipped me up an amazing espresso martini that's called the Cavalieri here. All of their cocktails are handcrafted & absolutely delicious. They're always coming out with reinvented menu items, so I need to go back & try out some more drinks as well as their food. They serve Italian style dishes with specialty ingredients that make it spicy which I love the sound of!

Yelp
When my love and I visit a restaurant for happy hour, we normally stay for an hour or so then bounce. We stayed at Angeloni's from 4:00 PM until nearly 10:00 PM. Unprecedented! On Friday through Monday, they offer an aperitivo. You essentially receive a complimentary "snack " with your cocktail. And let me tell you, these snacks are delicious. There are about 8 options, ranging from olives, to focaccia, to pickled vegetables, to deep fried pork belly (think pork rinds but far more delicious). We sampled the Rigatoni Bolognese at dinner time. Fantastic! The positive energy increased as the evening proceeded. Everyone was in a good mood, mainly due to the incredible energy of the staff (especially the bartenders). The bar and back area are aesthetically pleasing. If you grew up in the late 70's - 80's, then you'll noticed and appreciate the tastefully crafted décor. Well done! Restaurants like this breathe life back into an otherwise challenged city. Cheers!

Yelp
As I stepped into Angeloni's Club Madrid, on a very chilly November evening I knew immediately that I liked the vibe!! There were couples around an art deco style bar area profusion of deep reds and lighting that is dim but not dark. Cool! We were brought to the dining area behind the bar area and that room was also spectacular. Polished wood plays alongside patterned walls with so many varied surfaces that although individually are "busy" they play well together to create a harmonized space. So for AMBIANCE....5 stars ON to service and cocktails... our server was lovely, and patient, gave us suggestions and we think she listened to our concerns... so service ... 4 stars I deduct one-due to timing of some entrees. More of a kitchen issue actually. Drinks... cocktail offerings.., 5 stars So many cool drink offerings! Appetizers... we had 4... would rate them 4stars as well! Main Entrees... one was sent back due to being SALTY & inedible! The mgr. offered to take it off the bill. And they did. SO they are concerned and want to please their customers. Other entrees were about a 3-star Nothing special but each one ate theirs. Food: just average. Some choices better than others. OVERALL a very cool ambience, would recommend.., fun place to enjoy cocktails, apps & great atmosphere & vibe. As a cocktail bar rating: 5 - dining 3. Avg. 4. BTW, we parked on the street but this spot also has its own parking lot.

Yelp
I called at 6:45pm on Friday, June 13th. I haven't even eaten here, but I do not want to after the phone conversation I just had. I called ahead to see if I could make a reservation for my 2 girlfriends and I. I was met with an employee/staff member who asked me "okay, can I ask you a bit of a personal question," and proceeded to see if we wanted to eat in the lounge or the dining room, and said we would be expected to pay at least $50 a person if we were where the DJ was (the lounge). I was okay with that until the staff member kept talking about how they have to pay the DJ and how they had a bunch of cancellations last weekend, and they can't pay their bills if they don't take deposits. They then said we would be expected to pay a deposit of $20 a person. I have never been expected to pay a deposit for a resultant that I haven't even stepped foot in. I, once again, would have paid it if the staff member didn't keep going on and on about how they had 57 cancellations last weekend and how they don't want to take deposits, and how they need to pay their bills as a company and pay their staff... I was immediately turned off, tried to end the conversation, but I physically could not because the staff member would not stop talking about how they needed to pay their bills as a restaurant. I said "I think we're going to go somewhere else because I wasn't aware this was going to be so involved," to which he said "well it wouldn't be so involved if people came to their reservations," and I just hung up. I don't do that normally but I was not interested in the reservation and I couldn't get a word out to this staff member. Then he proceeded to text me on the company phone number and I have those texts below. It is EXTREMELY unprofessional to say those things to a customer, especially if so many people have canceled, there is probably a reason. I don't know who the staff member is but they're not great at promoting their restaurant by sharing how many people have canceled their reservations. This was absolutely insane to experience. 10/10 for entertainment, but I won't even consider coming here.

Yelp
I took my husband out for a unique birthday dinner. It was hard to find a menu online. The menu is pretty small, but we enjoyed everything. The one knock that I have is that they do not adjust any menu items. The staff really did try hard to accommodate me to find something I could eat. They were very kind. The cocktails were wonderful. The ambiance of this place was pretty awesome. It reminded me of an old lounge and there was a dj starting at 9. Overall, we had a really nice time.

Yelp
The absolute COOLEST concept!! Kudos to their incredible designer that hit a home run with every vintage detail!!! What an insane throwback! Bury. Me. Here. Homemade pastas, homemade ricotta, local desserts, White House sub wedge salads + bread, pizza dough by Tony's Baltimore. The local pride is second to none. Our waiter was an unbelievable human, Julia is stunning, sassy, + sweet, the entire staff LOVES their jobs, + I could not get enough!! Every bite was super delish...Wedge, ricotta with eggplant, crab + shrimp pasta. Hubs loved his eggplant parm. This is the place to splurge + not GAF!! Mocktails/Cocktails were on point. Local brews offered from down the street. Head back for wild club vibes after 10pm, but an early dinner HAS to be on your list either way! Lovely lil two top for a sexy date night, but it would be great with a group of friends, and definitely a Fab girls' night.

Yelp
What an amazing amazing new members social club in AC. This reminds me of Palizzi with a more 70s/80s vibe and is done very tastefully. We loved the cozy couches, patterned walls, and vintage vibes. We were blown away by both the food and the service. Our server took the time to make reservations, pop a bottle of cava, and socialize with us. We ordered the spicy rigatoni, the Caesar salad, and the appetizer platter. I'd order all again and again and again. Cool to get this kind of vibe in AC - outside of the casinos. It definitely addds to a unique and quirky culture. We also thought the price of our final bill was a steal. I think this may be my new favorite haunt!

Yelp
It's dark. It's retro. Food is amazing!!! Great people working there . Worth the trip out of the comfort zone of the casinos

Yelp
I visited Angelonis for a birthday dinner and have not stopped recommending it since. Anytime someone is looking for somewhere to eat in AC I point them to this place. The wait staff was beyond nice, the food was good, and the drinks were unique and tasty. However where Angelonis stands out is its ambience. The interior is very interesting but also tastefully done and fun. If you like to get dressed up and take a nice photo, this restaurant has many places for you to do so.

Yelp
Ok all the staff was great.. very helpful even if they weren't my waiters.. I enjoyed the bruschetta it was very different though but in a good way. The vodka pasta was just ridiculously spicy, to be fair they did warn me but I like spice and I couldn't eat it.. the pasta was also not cooked fully and yes I like Al dente too but this was not cooked.. they offered to exchange it and even gave me a percentage off my bill. I would definitely give them another chance because they were very accommodating and I liked the vibe in there

Ryan G.

Yelp
A notch below mediocre. While they make a solid cocktail, watching the bartender scoop ice with her hands was an immediate red flag--and things only went downhill from there. We started with the fried calamari, which was well-seasoned and surprisingly not greasy, but unfortunately, it had the texture of rubber--likely a sign that it wasn't fresh. My rigatoni vodka arrived cold and had to be remade (at least they didn't charge me for it, which I appreciated). That said, the sauce was far too sweet for a spicy vodka dish, and I ended up discarding most of it The highlight was the meatballs, but even they suffered from the same overly sweet sauce. I'm giving it two stars because they seem to be trying, but it's not a place I'd revisit.

Yelp
I haven't written a yelp review in forever-- but I had to share this story about some amazing human beings and the even more amazing restaurant that they have graced us with. I first stopped in to the new Angeloni's Club Madrid after reading about their opening in the newspaper. The cocktails were incredible, so I came back the next night for dinner. I was completely blown away. I had family coming to town later in the week for my nephew's 17th birthday. My parents aren't into dining out AT ALL. I had originally booked another well known restaurant in town, but decided to reach out to see if Angeloni's could accommodate us. Not only did they provide us with reservations with only one day's notice, but they went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time. Keeping in mind that our group was 8 people of varying foodie experience, including a teenager and a vegan. The owner stopped by and spoke to us about options for our group (a la carte, the whole menu for $399 or a family style dinner for $65 per person). We chose the family style option and absolutely everyone at the table was pleased. SO. MUCH. FOOD. Hard to even list our favorites, but I highly recommend the "a little bit of everything," the bruschetta and the chicken parm. On par with the food quality was the quality of service. EVERYONE IS SO DAMN KIND. Like imagine taking your loved ones to dinner and the staff treats them as if they were their own family?!?!? This is an experience that you just don't get anymore in most restaurants. The care and pride that the owner and staff takes in providing for their customers is something I will never forget. I will be back again and again...and yes I am getting the membership. You want good food, good cocktails, good vibes, good people? ANGELONI'S CLUB MADRID OR BUST!

Yelp
It was a minor hullabaloo getting the reservation confirmed, I had to reserve with $40 (two people) because rude people keep making reservations, then not showing up. I did that, and it was so worth it. We decided to go a little early to dig the bar vibe. It's a sort of horseshoe-shaped bar and the bartender made excellent drinks. Very low-key and glamorous, good music that fits the theme of the retro restaurant. There is a lounge area, which we scoped out, and then we were escorted into the dining area. (There is also private dining available, a small room just to the right of the main dining room.) The service and food were excellent. Gorgeous, sweet older hostess could not have been nicer. The decor throughout is a fabulous nod to the worlds of glam rock/Boogie Nights/Xanadu/1970s and it was all beautifully executed, not one false note. Amazing "bisexual" bathroom (one at a time)! Our waiter was personable and helpful. They take the $40 off your final bill, so it's all good. Like all small businesses that have specific requirements to make it all work: if you're cool, they're cool. If you don't get this, like one little princess who posted on here, then go to Hard Rock instead.

Yelp
I cannot leave one star because we did not stay to try a thing. After a $40 uber ride we were sat in the lounge which is super cute, great music, but we were then completely ignored. There was one other couple, restaurant was NOT full, many employees walked by us and not ONE said hello. No drinks offered, no can i help you, nothing. Then they ALL watched the four of us get up and leave. Very, very disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and services were great, fantastic food and drinks, all employees were very friendly and very polite

Rocco P.

Yelp
Went for meatballs and martini night (Thurs) the martini was tiny like half a regular martini they did not have Apple Pucker did not have Chardonnay did not have items on the menu. Overall very disappointing. PS the only Chardonnay they would have had is $18 a glass

Mimi D.

Yelp
Extraordinarily cramped seating in the main dining room. Excellent service. All of the water glasses appeared filmy and unappealing. I thoroughly enjoyed my crab cake and arugula salad. Limited bar selection. Charming retro decor.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
This place is a vibe! Tried it on a whim during restaurant week. Had the spicy rigatoni & chicken pomadoro. Food was delicious. Drinks were great and service was awesome.
google avatar

Marissa S.

Yelp
If you're looking for huge portions of lackluster Italian food you can keep it moving and head on down the street to Tropicana to stand around the slot machine patrons who are rummaging through their casino vouchers outside of Carmine's. Julia & the team at Angeloni's are crafting up cocktails & dishes that make you want to come back every Thursday night for martinis & meatballs (regardless of the Friday morning hangover that might await you). I've tried every pasta on the menu, and the Short Rib Pappardelle was the star of the show with the Crab Orecchiette following at a close 2nd. The Chicken Parmesan was perfectly crispy and is offered both spicy & original - the spicy has more of an acidic spice (like pepperoncini rather than red pepper flake) - but both equally delicious! Long story short, bring your Tums, split a few pasta dishes, and end your evening with an Alibi cocktail at Angeloni's. Money well spent.
google avatar

Mitch S.

Yelp
The food sucks but the vibe of the place is really cool. I'd go here for drinks but not food. Reminds me of the type of food you'd find at a cheap golf course that has someone answering phone calls, bartending but also cooking hotdogs, we had the spicy rigatoni and it tasted like someone mixed hot sauce with vodka sauce?! Gross. Neat original spot though for drinks after work

Spencer B.

Yelp
Atlantic City is a place for experiences, and Angeloni's Club Madrid tops the bill. This spot is fucking cool. It's truly somewhere you need to go check out at least once. It may not be your thing, but you need to appreciate the work that went into reviving this staple. The interior design and decorating were brilliantly thought through. It's comfortable yet funky, and does a phenomenal job of sending you back in time four decades. Every corner is filled with something new to find from Atlantic City's long history. In a word: vibes. The menu has plenty to offer, but don't expect a 16 page jersey diner style menu. Nor should you want that from a place like this. The chicken pomodoro is definitely one of my favorite dishes. The sweet tomatoes and spicy sauce are a phenomenal complement to each other. Get the garlic cheese dip. Just get it. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted by the entire staff. They're constantly checking in and offering me anything I need, always grateful for me stopping by. It's a small team, and the benefits show: these are real people working their asses off for you. Appreciate it. Opening a restaurant is fucking hard. Opening any business in Atlantic City is even harder. Yet this team (Julia/TBG/etc) have nailed it here. If this is what they're offering with just having their doors open a few weeks, I can't wait to see the caliber they reach after a few more months of working out the kinks of any new business. A great man once said "but maybe everything that dies some day comes back"... Club Madrid is fucking back, baby.

Francis T.

Yelp
Shadow of its former self. This is certainly no longer a signature east coast "red sauce joint." The entrees are pithy, over priced, not properly cooked, and best characterized as slightly elevated kids food. No staples like veal parm? Really? Don't waste your time or money on this place.

Maria A.

Yelp
Food disgusting. I figured I'd look at the menu before I go to the restaurant and was looking forward to ordering the eggplant rolantini and when I saw the menu it was nothing I saw on the menu online totally different. Bruschetta was gross which they only served it with 2 pieces of bread and we were a party of 4. We asked if we could have some bread and they didn't have it what kind of place doesn't serve bread at the table. I ended up ordering the chicken cutlet entree at first I thought it was like a parmigiana dish but no. It was a frozen chicken cutlet smothered with tons of roasted cherry tomatoes with some parm cheese that was it no pasta with it I had to get a side of spaghetti and when they brought that it was disgustingly smothered with roasted cherry tomatoes and had a spice to it so nasty. The photos online are nothing compared to what they have at the restaurant. Everything was so overpriced the water glasses were dirty too. Music way too loud. Was better going off going to the White House across the street for dinner. I could go on about the other dishes but please do not waste your money there so so disappointed.

Snack E.

Yelp
The atmosphere alone here sells it. As soon as you walk in the front door, and through the curtain, you are transported to a different world. Weather you're looking for a drink with your friends, going on a date, or just seeking something different, this is the place is it. The vibes are immaculate. Make sure to walk around and check out the different rooms, there is a side dining room that is so picture worthy - everything here is picture worthy! Try the Steelman drink or the Pistachio Negroni.

Dani C.

Yelp
Food was ok. Service was ok. Great atmosphere and awesome vibe. Would definitely come back for drinks but not for food.

Casey H.

Yelp
I downloaded the Yelp app just to write this. I am not one to write reviews but this is a different story. Worst dining experience of my entire life. As soon as we walked in, I gave my name to the hostess who then proceeded to forget and ask me for my name three more times. She couldn't find my reservation which I most certainly had and I had to show my reservation confirmation I received on my phone. Upon sitting down, we ordered drinks which took over 20 minutes to arrive. We placed our food order about 5 minutes after sitting down. 3 appetizers 4 entrees. When I tell you the APPETIZERS alone took nearly 2 hours to come out I am not exaggerating. Not to mention the table next to us which sat down AFTER us received their food first. That's when I got very upset. They apologized to us but then we still waited for another 20 minutes. Food portions were tiny and finished in 5 minutes. We probably ate for a total of 10 minutes and left hungry. They compensated us by giving us 3 free donuts. By that point I didn't care and just wanted to leave. We waited then 15 more minutes for our waitress to get our check. We had to ask another waitress who was close by to take it because of how long we waited. Will 100% never be stepping foot back in this place. Don't come here unless you want to wait almost 2 and a half hours for your food!

Kim A.

Yelp
the best ! julia and crew are such the vibe! makes me feel young again coming here! alibi always flowing ..food is delish ! best cocktails , great music and decor that's a must see !

Mary C.

Yelp
OMG where do I start. If I could do a zero star I would. The menu on line is not the menu in the restaurant. Very limited menu in the restaurant, and if you want a side of marinara sauce you're out of luck. The manager stated she couldn't update the website. What a joke. Apparently, they are creating an atmosphere of having to actually go to the restaurant and see the menu, like in the 80's. If you have dietary restrictions you can't plan ahead. There is some kind of membership going on there but you'll never know it from the website. The website doesn't work. They purposely hide their phone number. When our food was served 2 of 5 dinners came out. 2 more came out 10 minutes later, the 5th one never came out. Pork chop was over cooked and underweight of the menu description. All our portions were extremely small. I've never been to a restaurant that serves warm water, we couldn't drink it. When we brought our concerns up to the manager she didn't care. Food expediter was extremely rude. Everyone beware, reviews are for the original establishment.
