Wife and I stopped here for lunch. She had the Cobb Salad and I had the Sliders and Fries. Everything was pretty good. Place was clean and staff were friendly. Decent prices too. From sit down to getting order, was quick. I recommend this place.

Anita Cadez

Google
The food was good. They had a lot of daily specials. The booths were very tight to sit in. I didn't see any tables in the restaurant.

Anna Nini

Google
Ate breakfast and lunch on separate days, and food is hot and prepared the way we wanted it. Server came back for coffee and drink refills, she clearly likes her job too! The restaurant is very clean, seating areas look brand new, clean bathrooms also.

Linda Taylor

Google
Sat ourselves, nobody greeted us. After 15 minutes, got up and got our own menus. Soup and salad were good. Spaghetti sauce tasted odd and not fresh at all. Stir fry was very spicy, but nicely put together. Server never came by to ask how anything was. Will not be back. Old and outdated, not very clean, poor service.

Chris Stann

Google
I always eat here when I’m in the area. The service has always been great. And lookee there, pierogies!

Tonia Manriquez

Google
Angelo's is our go-to place. All the food is good but we love the polish selection. And their breakfasts are good and filling.

Jason Tost

Google
We went out to take my mother in law to dinner for mother's Day. I ordered fish and chips it was cooked well and I enjoyed it the prices were reasonable to my mother in law is 96 years old and everything takes time with her . I was impressed with our waitress she was patient and took it all in stride so all in all the night went well and I'd eat there again.

Pamela Hallman

Google
I have to say this is the fourth time I've been to Angelo's the food is homemade it's hot it's excellent the soup the salads are Fresh Sandwiches me and my mom had and the dinners the Polish food the Greek food we've been there for and you have to try their fish and chips the french fries taste like Idaho potatoes are waitresses are always excellent and they give you senior discounts and Senior specials very clean very calm and nice atmosphere I suggest you go there and the prices you can't beat them check out the restaurant you will really like it a lot

Yelp
My family has been coming to Angelo's for years, mostly doing carry-out. The place has gone through some ups and downs regarding the food/pricing. But it seems to be a staple in the Sterling Heights community. My most recent visit was for lunch during the week. It was slow and not many customers. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Lots of side conversations going on within the wait staff - hearing all about their personal lives and what not. On cell phones and what not too. Inside has high ceilings and clean but outdated. Baby blues and light wood colors with booths for seating. Menu wise, lots of options with a variety of cultural foods like Polish/Greek/American. I always get the pierogi dinner which are very good. You pick the fillings and it comes with a side of sour cream. I add grilled onions too. They are soft and filled nicely. They also have a senior menu and overall prices are very affordable.

Yelp
Oh.... after having Angelos as my regular place to eat - I am a steady customer who tips very well, my last visit was terrible. No, not the food but service! It was busy the last time I visited. I sat down at a table, and for 15 minutes not a single commemnt or hi from the waitress, Karen, who usually serves me. Oh, wait her coworker did ask if Karen was taking care of me - NO I SAID. Up I got and just left, as both waittreses stood there watching me leave. A side note - a friend who recently had bearkfast there was amazed at one point that the cook was yelling at a waitress very loudly for some reason. Are local private restaurants going bye bye eventually - such lousy service.

Yelp
Every time we go the food is hot and delicious. The staff is very nice and on top of everything you need. We will definitely go back there again. The prices are very reasonable. But we wish they had the deserts that is listed.

Carey C.

Yelp
Can't beat the prices, and frequent this place anytime I'm in the mood for dill pickle soup or moukassa. Huge menu, diner staples, but have a lot of German & Polish dishes.

Janette D.

Yelp
I used to come here all the time and always got the same salad. The Avenue. Loved it. I moved away so only get it to go when I'm working near by. The last 2 times I've gotten it the tomatoes have been bad. Taste rotted. Which then gets all over the rest and ruins it all. I unfortunately will not be back again. 2 rotten salads at $12 a piece is enough of a lesson.

Yelp
Our second time at Angelo's was better than the first, and that's saying a lot. Unpretentious setting, outstanding food. A wide variety of menu items, all day breakfast and daily specials. First time had Polish Cuisine, today Greek - an excellent Cevapi, nicely seasoned beef and pork with rice, red sauce, diced tomatoes and onions - warm pita too! A nice attentive server took great care of us. Oh stop in on a Friday for the best beet soup ever. All done on site.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. We used to live around the corner many Years ago and before that went to the old location in Warren. They have the best potato pancakes and fried chicken wing appetizer. We live in California now and it's much harder to get Latkes/potato pancakes every time I'm home visiting family and make sure to stop by here at least once.

Medina L.

Yelp
Came in to Angelo's for the first time in quite a while, surprised to see our favorite server back! Kendra is a wonderful waitress and always is very informative when we have questions regarding the food! We got dill pickle soup and some pierogi (the best in town). Will definitely make this our regular spot again!

Yelp
The Best Polish menu outside of Hamtramck. You can't go wrong with the menu, strongly recommend the City Chicken.

Donald S.

Yelp
Clean place. Okay chicken parmesan. My fault, thought Angelo's was an Italian restaurant. Service was pleasant and quick. Very inexpensive to eat here. The cool staff should practice being a bit more quiet and not throw out cuss words.
google avatar

Yelp
So so sad that I have to leave this bad review but it is what it is. My kids and I all got breakfast and it was all cold , we had to send it back. Then when we got it back it was completely inedible! Waitress never came back to check . It's sad bc we have really enjoyed this place in the past, but sadly we won't be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
I really appreciate this restaurant, it has almost anything you want. I normally either order the Smelt dinner or city chicken, but today they offered chicken cordon blue. My dinner was so good that I was glad I almost filled up on bread and butter and cream of mushroom soup or else I wouldn't be able to take half of the dinner home! Even when it is packed this place has very good food. City chicken is always very good because it is one of the few places that use offer gravy over it. Mmmm. Best smelt around. Some days the vegetable of the day isn't that great but it's always a surprise. Glad we walked out of Olive Garden to come here today. Updated 10-05-2020 Had a great lunch today with my aunt at Angelos this afternoon after my doctors appointment! I had the delicious Country Omelette but tried her crepes and they were fabulous also! The coffee was strong just like I like it and the service was phenomenal! We both could only eat have but took the rest home. I'm glad because I'll get to enjoy it all over again! The whole restaurant was very precautious and well maintained due to Covid, with every other booth taped off for spacing and sanitizer available. Bathroom was Spic and Span clean from top to bottom. I really love eating here. Great staff and the cooks smile and nod instead of ignoring you.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
My brother took me and my kids to provide some passable ethnic food without going to Hamtramack. The service issues must vary by day and time because I was there near lunch on a Saturday and the service was pretty good. My order was a bit complex because we took food to go but they got it right. Is it a 5 star place? No, but for a diner that tried to serve a lot of different tastes, it was pretty darn good.
google avatar

Dee T.

Yelp
I meant to say the one cook dropped the "F" bomb not the D bomb. It's a shame too, no one should have to hear that language or anger issues while they are eating their meal.
google avatar

Reneh G.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Came here a month ago after The Pantry was closed and I'm so happy I found this place. I come here at least once a week. Food is good and cheap. Good portions. It can be busy sometimes but I know the servers are doing their best! The corn beef hash, chocolate chip crepes, and Avenue club are all delicious. Food always comes out within ten minutes. Give this place a try!
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
For a family dining restaurant, it's good. We frequent here a lot due to its location and food quality. Good polish meals.

Dan P.

Yelp
This was a great place to eat - good food, good service, and great prices - not anymore. They REALLY raised their prices a lot on July 18th, 2022. There was a sign on the door that they were doing it, but I figured maybe a dollar or two would be about right- NO. My normal 3-piece fish and chips use to cost about $9.70 - now it is up to about $13.70. Oh, and I asked for another tartar sauce like I usually do, and they charge me extra for that. But, I guess I was lucky they did not charge me for the extra napkins I asked for. Not sure I will be going back to Angelo's anytime soon.
google avatar

Lynn B.

Yelp
I was here about ten years ago and wasn't impressed. I was out with a friend who suggested to stop in and grab a bite to eat. I'm so glad we did. We both ordered the breakfast special (under $4) and it was really good. Eggs cooked perfect and portions just right. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. Ordered food and it was at our table in no time. I will definitely stop in again. Nothing fancy but good food.

Yelp
I don't get the draw to this place. They sell themselves as a polish restaurant, but the menu has a little bit of everything. Kind of has a coney island feel to it overall, and didn't really impress me one bit. I came here with my mom and my grandpa's friend Melvin to get some good food. Melvin had recommended this place, and I was expecting a bit more. Walking in the place is kind of blandly decorated, and quite loud from all the people in here. The menu does have some great Polish dishes on it, like Pierogis, kilbasa and a few other dishes. I wasn't starving, so I went with a Gyro, because it sounded good at the time. My mom went with the spaghetti, and she loved it! I forgot what Melvin had, but I know he got a stuffed cabbage, so that was cool. The service was good, but I felt like our server was a bit overwhelmed and busy, so she came back twice to check and see if we were ready to order. Overall, this place was decent. I don't know that I would go out of my way to return, but the food was just okay. Also, they had TV's in here, but they kept them on mute. I was trying to watch and see what was going on with the news, but I couldn't since I couldn't hear.
google avatar

Victor L.

Yelp
Abso-freakin-lutely. Polish and Italian food and "plain old American". For your first time, order the Polish sampler plate. I still do, after many years. Anything else I order makes me wish I had room for all the other stuff on the menu, and there's a lot. Even things as simple as potato soup are better than any I've found. Being only 1/4 mile away, the wife often sends me down to bring back a quart( wed. evening). Yes, it's that good.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Food here is mediocre. Service is less than mediocre. Asked server for water. Watched her run food, bring another table condiments and extra plates, have a conversation by the kitchen with another server - never got the water. Asked another server for it. She brought it and asked if I needed a box. As of right now that was 6 minutes ago and I don't have a box and I'm watching the server talk to the woman at the register. Hadn't been here in years. Thought I would try again. Huge mistake. Never again. As we were paying watched our server doing her prep work while someone else had taken care of us. Absolutely awful service.
google avatar

Kimberly K.

Yelp
I've been coming to Angelo's since their original location near 696 and Van Dyke. Followed them to the current location and they still have the best home cooking. The Polish and Greek food is some of the best in the city. Yummy perogi's, crepes, and city chicken like my Polish grandma made. For Greek selections the gyro and moussaka are delicious as well. Excellent homemade soups too! The mushroom soup and dill pickle soup are my favorites. The waitresses are all friendly and have worked here for years which tells me they love their job and their customers and it shows!

Yelp
Horrible service. Waited forever just to get a glass of water. I nearly had to beg for someone to take our order. The waitress that was supposed to be waiting on our section got upset and basically plopped the glass of water down and threw the straw stormed off and screamed from across to room that we had NOT been waiting 20 minutes. She was rude and clearly very angry. That was enough for us. We left while management pretended not to notice. Will not be back.

Tabatha K.

Yelp
Went in for breakfast/ lunch. It was a day when the air conditioner was on the fritz. But it was manageable. The cooks came out to see if we liked our food. There were 2 waitresses and they were working with each other like they could read minds. So busy but yet so attentive. Shout out to Rosie and Ann, keep rocking it. I will definitely be back to see you.

Emilee H.

Yelp
My family and I have been here a couple times, nothing memorable. We came back to give it another shot. BIG MISTAKE. It wasn't busy when we arrived. There was no hostess and three waitress. My family waited fifteen minutes to get our orders ordered. We got 2 eggs with bacon and two chocolate chip pancakes, a small plate of stuffed cabbage, a small plate of Roast beef, and the SPECIAL OF THE DAY which was a Chicago style beef sub. Usually you're supposed to get soup to pass the time BEFORE getting your entree, correct? No. Not here. You get it as a side dish to your meal after you waited a half hour. And it'll be the only WARM thing you'll eat here. We waited for thirty minutes to get our food. THERE was probably three other tables in the whole restaurant. They brought the food. My mom's SPECIAL OF THE DAY (THE FREAKING SPECIAL) was dry (like they microwaved it for an extra five minutes dry) and STILL COLD somehow. She refused to eat it and sent it back. She worked the nightshift at the hospital & hadn't gotten any sleep or anything to eat since the night before- needless to say she was already agitated with the timing & the ruined meal was the last straw. My meal of stuffed cabbage was cold- but I was starving and swallowed cold chunks of it- I had just come from appointments in the morning. My three little sisters had the rest of food- and them being minors in elementary seemingly did not notice anything wrong with their food- but how could they? They were ravenous after waiting for me to finish my appointments. My mother was visibly upset, and told the ALL of the waitresses how terrible this experience was. She was tempted to NOT even leave a tip- and that's a far fetched thought in this family because we do know ans understand the restaurant business & we do appreciate the hard work of running in it BECAUSE we & members of our family have OWNED one. The fact that that thought crossed her mind labels our experience. But they're lucky we understand it- because my tabld did leave a tip. We aren't inhuman, and we know the struggles. Throughout the whole ordeal- since we stepped in- the waitress staff avoided my family. It was extremely poor. After they served the food, it was like they tag teamed who got to deal with us. They gave us a 15% discount as an apology & told us that the reason why this had happened was because they were training. But let me ask you this. Does training excuse horrible service? Horrible food? We saw no one TEACH each other anything in this situation. My family is forgiving. But we're NEVER coming back & you bet your last dollar that we are NEVER recommending this place. We walked out. We're never walking back in. We got McDonalds for my mom. What a shame.
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
We are disabled and use a walker. Could not even get out of the car. The handicap spots as well as all the parking lot had a thick layer of slush and ice and snow. Several inches. We will have to wait for better weather to go here and try a few other places that do a better job.
google avatar

Yelp
Well, as you can see, I have been spending some QT with the fams! Hitting up all these family type restaurants, togetherness at it's best. I have to say Angelo's Avenue Grille is a pretty great restaurant, for it's type. We all had nice lunches. Pierogi, grilled chicken, salads, quesadillas...YEP all that mix-mashup turned out great. Our server asked us if we saved room for dessert... Our stuffed mouths sighed a collective noooooo...and she said "Really...it comes with all of your meals"? Well then....some room just opened up, thank you very much~! haha.. Tapioca, rice pudding, jello...all pretty much comes standard with any meal you order. Nice touch Angelo!! Customer service! Shooooot...go in!

Yelp
Location/Parking: Located on east side of Van Dyke on front of a Michigan turn light. Pretty good amount of parking and you can also park in the empty former Wendy's parking lot behind the place. Pricing: Pretty reasonable Cleanliness: The floors aren't always well swept but they always have a pretty good crowd so I'll give em a pass. Service Quality: Very welcoming and friendly Ambience/Atmosphere: Clean and open with a cathedral ceiling and windows around the place with natural light coming in. Lots of seating available. Crowd: Pretty diverse crowd...maybe a lil older than average. I mean, the place is convenient. The food: HUGE menu but there chicken pitas are pretty delicious and their chicken noodle soup is some of the best I have had anywhere. You can get Greek, Polish, Italian and American fare.

Kaitlyn O.

Yelp
horrible, horrible service. the service is so bad i dropped my order and will never return. i even went in to place more to more order but they were so rude to me i left and said never mind. asked to speak to the owner and the owner did not even care to help the situation. some lady said she was the manager but i highly doubt it. the lady named lorrie was so extremely rude on the phone. i tried placing my order and asked to see what soups they had today and she said "you need to know what you want before you call" when their soups change on a daily. NEVER GO HERE!!!!
google avatar

Kalaida H.

Yelp
The customer service here is horrendous. The wait staff doesn't greet you when you walk in or introduce themselves when they approach your table after being passed by several times. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded, but the food was slow and so was the server. An elderly couple next to me was complaining that food must be free because no check had come after some time. I had the most sub par omelet there ... I only went there for breakfast because I thought they had grits. The omelet took over 20 minutes to come out once I ordered... eggs don't take that long to cook. The waitress was eating her lunch between tables - disgusting-... She also put down a clean bowl of soup on a table that wasn't cleaned yet while she served other dishes from her overcrowded tray. I won't be going back... ever! Not even if the meal was free.
google avatar

Teddy-Hannah D.

Yelp
My husband and i decided to give this place a second chance. Just not worth it. Maybe back in the day. But, the miserable looks on every single workers face is just sad.. Thats what reuins the experience every time. Unpleasant workers. But good food.
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
I have only been here for breakfast so I can't comment on lunch or dinner. Their prices are reasonable and the polish sausage omelet is so good! However the service always seems to be lacking.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
We go here because they have a huge selection of dinners. They have most types of food you would think of. Their prices are really good. We get some Greek selections or their Polish selections are always good. Their soup selection is good too. Hey always have a selection of daily specials too. The service is quick and good. You get a bread basket with huge chunks of bread.
google avatar

HannahElizabeth P.

Yelp
Worst place yet! I worked here for a few months. Angelo and Susie are super sweet and kind. They care a ton for their customers. But the girls working behind the counter? Wow. You wouldn't believe what goes down. That bread basket that you're eating has been touched by at LEAST 40 other customers. The waitresses talk shit about every customer that goes in. They don't care. They yell, scream, cuss, and throw silverware at each other. As for the food, if you find something on the menu that was actually prepared and cooked in-house.. then props. Not to mention, all carry-out is cold by the time you get it. Oh, and waitress hand washing is not a thing. Also, every waitress is on pills or drugs. And I'm talking cocaine, crack-cocaine, narcotics... They show up late and drunk/high. Have fun being served by people who don't know what hygiene is. ;)

Sam G.

Yelp
Great place with a great open atmosphere! I've only been here a couple of times but I have always had a great time, and one time was with a group of 10 and we all know how things can get sideways with groups all ordering at once. The food here is great and service was a breeze. I will be back Angelo's, you can count on it.

Dick B.

Yelp
Average food decent prices but slow service Heavy seasoning on some food. Good Greek dressing. Skip the lamb. Stuffed peppers only fair.

Kara G.

Yelp
Don't come here! If you don't like your food, the management and wait staff will yell over if you or the waitstaff will pay for it- so unprofessionally managed! This place needs help! Comping orders at least once a day is a price you pay for having a restaurant- or any business!

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Dirty. Air vents in the ceiling have black dust all over and around them. Rugs are filthy. Service is very, very slow. Used to eat here a lot. Gave it another shot and we were reminded why we left.
google avatar

Scott G.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and really enjoyed myself. I got the lunch special, sloppy joe, and it was delicious. I was pretty surprised they would offer joes because I don't recall seeing that anywhere but I loved it. I came here again today and ordered a Greek omelet and, again, I was blown away. Lots of flavor. It came with a small cup of tziki that made it even better. Super clean restaurant and great fast service. Definitely worth checking out.

Karen R.

Yelp
I don't want to rate this restaurant. I walked in about a half hour ago and I stood to read the upright menu by the door. A waitress told me to seat myself, so I did. I sat there for 8 minutes watching the waitresses wiping down the table next to me, I watched another waitress cleaning the pop machine, I watched a waitress cash out a customer. At one time or other they all looked at me, not one waitress acknowledged me with any kind of gesture. They all saw me and not one person would wait on me. I gave it another 2 min still no one!! I got up and walked passed the waitress wiping the table. I said to her I'm sorry but I'm leaving it's not good for your business to keep customers wondering if the are going to be waited on. Mind you I was pleasant about it!! Do you know what she replied...., nothing!! She just looked at me... Her biggest mistakes were She should of apologized She should have said please have a seat someone will be right there, what can I get you to drink? If that would of happened that way I would not be writing this complaint. I've been in there at least 3 times and all three times the waitstaff was not at all attentive. I've read the comments and a lot of customers have received the same treatment! Advice to Angelo.... retrain your staff

James C.

Yelp
This place is always busy so I gave Angelo's a try. The big problem that I have is that the food is very bland. The cook needs to learn how to use salt and pepper. There are a bunch of senior citizens who eat here, so the discount for them must be the reason why the place is so busy.
google avatar

Lauri J.

Yelp
I went there for lunch today with my boyfriend. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Friends of ours go there and love it. I ordered the Angelo's Polish platter with chicken noodle soup, and an appetizer of potato and cheese pierogis because the platter didn't come with them. My bf ordered the meatloaf sandwich with a bowl of cream of mushroom soup. The waitress we had (an African American woman) was fast but did not spend anytime talking to us just took our order and poof she was gone. The soup was really good although she brought my bf chicken noodle not cream of mushroom. He ate it anyways. My food came and the city chicken was half cold, the stuffed cabbage had no flavor, the kielbasa was overcooked and the sauerkraut was just nasty. By bf liked his meatloaf sandwich although he wouldn't complain if he didn't like it. The pierogis weren't bad but you couldn't taste cheese in them at all. There really was no time to tell our waitress how we felt because she didn't spend more than a second each time she stopped to drop off any of our food or the bill. I'm sorry but I will not go back to Angelo's :(
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
I was told how amazing this restaurant was and I just walked out from sitting up at the bar waiting for someone to acknowledge me for over 10 minutes not one person said a word so I got up and actually walked out so I will never eat at this establishment and I will never promote this establishment even though people say it's good the three girls there walked by me and not one of them said a word and I would have been the biggest tipper.

Theresa B.

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER THE BROASTED CHICKEN....the menu says freshly broasted juicy chicken....NOT....they got it from Meijers down the street around 11:00 when the chicken came out of the fryer and just nuked it when someone ordered it. I felt like National Lampoon's Christmas where everyone was dunking their turkey in their water glass to soften it. Popcorn is softer than the crust was. I had a cup of their beet soup, and it tasted good, but now I'm having stomach pains and sitting on the throne while I type this. We were there about an hour ago. We should've waited an hour and a half at the new Polka Restaurant Bar and Cafe on 15 and Dequindre.

Dionis D.

Yelp
We are back I'm full motion and ready to serve all the customers with their polish food needs. Suzie and Angelo are back with the same great food as before. We specialize in authentic polish and Greek food! Some of the best around!! If considering calling Angelo's Avenue Grille for a fast and speedy carryout our new number is 586-698-2481. Hope to see u soon. We are open 7 days a week with great breakfast, speedy lunch and wonderful dinners!

David D.

Yelp
Been here many times. They offer a lot of stuff- primarily mediocrity. I Like polish food and it's near work so I go more often than I like. It's an inexpensive family diner so my rating scale is easier. Basic rule- if the bread comes in a plastic bag don't expect much. Larger selection, lot of stuff is decent nothing to rave about though - city chicken was tasty. I find their potato pancakes disappointing I like them crispy with onions. Theirs are soft and bland but if you are the applesauce kind of eater you'll find them palatable. Fries are ho hum. Sandwiches are decent. Soups are above average. Cabbage rolls are decent. Wish the food was warmer but when it is it's usually microwaved- no surprise though. Salads are poor. Iceberg and dead tomatoes- typical diner fare. Service is hit and miss. Sometimes decent usually slow. I like to tip better at low priced restaurants but it's hard to rationalize when they are so slow and inattentive. Prices are low to keep the retirees gumming the chow daily.

Yelp
Do not go here! Wait staff is arrogant and will not accommodate a group of eight! We decided to have a Sunday brunch here and the place was busy. Well, instead of switching the sign to "please wait to be seated they kept it on "please seat yourself" so everyone coming in were taking whatever they could, leaving my party waiting! It was a free for all. I asked politely if they could switch the sign so we could get two booths together to accommodate us, a small wait would have been fine. The waitress was rude and yelled at me "there is nothing I can do". Yes you can, turn the friggin sign! I'm the type of person who "harbors no ill will" towards a restaurant that serves bad food. However, if the service is terrible, I will spend the time and write a review if i really believe if they simply "just dont care". I cannot comment on their food. But, as in my case, I would rather eat sub par food and be treated decently instead of waiting 30 minutes and being belittled by some ditz and a establishment who does not care about the community. Go to The Pantry, Country Inn, or National Coney Island instead of this Dump!

Yelp
I love this place! It's my go to for a yummy breakfast. I was surprised to see such low ratings. The potato pancakes are the best! I went this morning and service was fine, we were sat immediately, and got my much needed coffee right after. Love it!

Yelp
I'm going to Angelo's since it was on Martin and Van Dyke beet soup is great on Fridays. I enjoy the Lake Perch wife enjoys the city chicken and the stuffed cabbage. Service is always good Angelo is usually there make sure he stops by to say hi. A nice family place to go eat
