The 15 Best West African Restaurants In London

"We’re not sure when bakeries started selling jollof rice, stews, and fresh-off-the-grill meats but Angels Bakery—a staple across south east and east London from Peckham to Plumstead—executes this concept perfectly. Almost nobody walks out of Angels Bakery with just baked goods. Even though the bread and fish/meat pies are what they specialise in, their jollof rice, which is deep in flavour, not too tomato-heavy, and vividly seasoned, and succulent grilled suya is better than many takeout and dining spots. For a more-ish, homely snack, the soft sweet bread spooned with some Ghanaian shito (that you can find in many shops nearby to all their stores) is a must-try." - riaz phillips

A stale food was delivered, I called the customer care and she kept saying the sticker was a mistake and next time I should indicate if I want the food microwaved and not just place order. While on phone with her she said I should call back that she need to do something. Just imagine the nonsense customer service. No remorse no accountability. She did t even care if I get food poison as a result. Angel bakery should better refund my money.

It would be nice if all Angel Bakery had the same consistency. I’ve bought suya from here from time to time, but I always get fat instead of meat. I will try one more time and will make another review to see if changes will be made, it’s not everyday serve plenty fat compared to meat ratio, basically paying £7 for fat, which is not okay.

Terrible. Ordered takeaway suya and was given burnt dry meat, I don’t understand how they find this acceptable to serve customers. Couldn’t eat it, had to go in the bin

I’ve had the worst experience with this shop and i will NEVER order from them again. The first time I ordered the put my drinks with the food and the delivery driver had mishandled it and it smashed. So I didn’t receive anything. The delivery driver told me someone new is working there, maybe that’s why it wasn’t packed well. So I got a refund and ordered again stating for them to put the drinks in a separate bag. When the food arrived the food had spilled in the bag, there was no cling film to secure the package, so essentially I had scraps of food that I could salvage out the bag…. I remember buying from this shop years ago many times when I lived in Plumstead now to come back to order and to receive this type of service is disappointing.

Today I went to Angel's Bakery on Plumstead High Street at approximately 14:00 and purchased meat pie for my child. Getting home, I opened the meat pie and this is what I found: Mouldy meat pie with spores. My daughter was about this in her mouth, she would have gotten food poisoning. Five minutes later, I rang the manager and explained what had happened, he said they were all freshly baked today. Please sort out your pastries or your customers would get food poisoning.

I bought Moi Moi from Plumstead store, they are not fresh, straight from fridge/freezer. I got home to eat, they were so cold, I heated one of them up to eat, tasting the moi moi, it tasted like water. I called the store to inform them about what I was given. I saw some moimoi in the show, why would give me moi moi from the fridge without informing me about what to expect, he said I did not ask if they were fresh, am I supposed to purchase unfresh item like Moi moi from a restaurant? He ended the call without even any remorse. The particular moi moi was not made the same day I bought them contrary to the information from the WhatsApp team.
