Angkor Chef

Outside of Cambodia, this is the most delicious and authentic Cambodian food we have had. The service was great, and prompt. The fish amok was divine. The fish noodles were yummy. The tofu and green veggies was excellent. We also had fresh orange juice and the mango sticky rice, both were amazing. We will be visiting again.

We Came for lunch. Got the Lemongrass chicken stir-fry. Fresh, delicious, and a nice kick of spice. Also got the Amok catfish (which came wrapped in a BANANA LEAF BOWL…). Very tasty, and an awesome presentation. We’ll be back for sure!

I stopped in here based on the high Google reviews and my love for trying new types of food. I’m a fan of SE Asian food, but had never tried Cambodian food before. So glad I stopped in! I had the Amok per the server’s recommendation. It was delicious! Perfectly balanced flavors and perfectly cooked. The mango sticky rice was also highly recommended. I don’t normally order dessert, but I went with it based on how much I liked dinner. No regrets! It was the meal I was hoping to find. I was dining alone so I just wanted a casual place without crowds. A great meal without all the hype. ✔️

Skewers were heaven. Reminds me of some of the families I grew up near that always had birthday parties with these skewers. The green curry was unique, but very tasty. The chicken dip (sorry don't know the name) but had this fermented sauce taste not for the unadventurous! I loved it :)

I traveled from out-of-town and wanted to support a Khmer-owned restaurant and was so happy to make that trek to Angkor Chef. Chef Channy is such a lovely person who puts such loving effort into her food. The Cambodian sausages were excellent. My mom loved the vegan papaya salad (bok lahong). Enjoyed the jackfruit rice dessert. Beautiful, business-lunch environment and fairly intimate.

What an absolute gem! I stumbled across Angkor Chef when I was stuck in San Jose for a day due to flight delays. The food was truly exceptional. I had the lemongrass stir fry with tofu and the rice pudding steamed in banana leaf for dessert. Both were so fresh, delicious and authentic. I will be remembering that meal for a long time! The service was 5 stars as well. Kent and his wife were so warm and welcoming. Going for lunch again tomorrow before I head back to the airport!

A great find! We were looking for a place to eat ahead of heading to show and we stumbled across this place. No Yelp or Google reviews, just a menu that looked great. The good was amazing! Everything was fresh and delicious. We ordered scallops, fried rice, a couple of noddle dishes and pineapple curry. Everyone's favorite was the mango salad and mango rice.

This was my first time trying Cambodian food, and I came across this restaurant in the vicinity. I liked the nice ambiance and had high expectations. We ordered Amok and Angkor Noodles with Chicken. The Amok was absolutely delicious - a must-try! We chose it after seeing many positive reviews. The Angkor Noodles were good as well - flavorful and tasty. It was definitely comforting food, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for comfort food in a pleasant setting with a view of trains passing by. The service was good too. The only downside was that we felt it was a bit expensive for the quantity; for two dishes, it came to around $60. We may give the Prahok dishes a try on our next visit.

We had a wonderful meal at Angkor Chef last weekend. It was my first time having Cambodian food in a long time and this restaurant was a perfect refresher. We ordered amok and pickled mustard greens with pork belly. Both dishes were outstanding. The service was friendly and the restaurant was nicely designed. We'll definitely be back to try papaya salad with beef skewers, homemade sausage, and sticky rice desserts.

Was looking for yummy food near San Jose Civic right before a show. Interesting that we were last table seated at 7pm? Sad that San Jose closes that early? Papaya salad was good but perhaps heavy on the fish sauce Satay was good but the free papaya salad that came with had extra heavy fish sauce. Fast service. Nice people. Generally good food. minus 1 star for too fishy of fish sauce. sorry!

We came on a Saturday looking for a different cuisine and were pleasantly surprised that there were lunch specials (30% off)! Having traveled abroad, this establishment was a complete disappointment. The dishes were just salt upon salt upon even more salt. All you tasted was salt. The eggs in the noodle were MASSIVE to the point I shrieked when I thought it was chicken (I do not consume poultry). On top of that, service was a major let down. Service-wise (via a male), he took his sweet time. However, food-wise (via a female), she was attentive, caring and thoughtful. We were in a hurry and food came out quickly (whereas the table next to us complained of the sluggish food prep). Additionally, if we needed something, the female handed it to us fairly quickly. However... regarding the male, you want to order? You have to walk to the counter. You need take out containers? You have to walk to the counter. You want to pay? You have to walk to the counter (this happened to the other table as well). Very modern decor. Casual dining (almost bordering on fine in comparison to the other establishments in the area). Due to how expensive each dish is, I wouldn't come here for parties or in a group setting. Located in downtown SJ (near SJSU), parking is complicated. During the weekend day hours (with no events), no parking garages were opened (at least when we went). There's street parking that's only free after 6pm on Saturdays and all day on Sundays. Will I come back? Heck no. Afterwards, I literally went to Subway and purchased a sandwich--now that's just sad. If you love salt and love walking, this place is for you.

I'd walked by Angkor Chef a bunch of times and I'm so glad we finally made time before a show at the SJ Center for the Performing Arts. I actually left my credit card here after by accident after the meal but they messaged me in Open Table from my (completely unnecessary) reservation right after we left so I popped right back over. Special thanks for that too. The space was very sophisticated and clean but most importantly, the food was great. Our server was super nice and talked us through the menu, which was important because we didn't know what to expect given our unfamiliarity with Cambodian cuisine. We started with the Plear which was described on the menu as "Khmer Ceviche" (with salmon, red onion, garlic, string beans, red bell pepper and cilantro) and it was awesome. The dish was served with fried rice noodles shaped like diagonal cut slices of bread to scoop up the lovely bits. It really was like a ceviche - pleasantly sour but completely delicious. For entrees I had Angkor Noodles cooked in a chile paste sauce that was a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy. Really great. My wife was more adventurous and tried the Amok which was like nothing we'd ever had before. It was like a little catfish stew served with rice and was really interesting. Our server said it was one of their most popular dishes and I loved it but my wife was less jazzed, I think because it was so different from what we're used to. For dessert we had a Lotus Blossom Cookie called a Nom Pkah Chan, which is a sweet rice flour cookie that the restaurant served over Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. How could you go wrong with a cookie and vanilla ice cream. Awesome place with wonderful service. I can't wait to come back again soon.

This place is like a hidden gem in Downtown SJ. They re-did the interior, feels elevated, clean, and has good central AC very cool inside even on a hot day. My bf noticed this place while passing by and we finally got to check it out. We got the spring rolls, Amok, and Papaya salad. Everything was very good and fresh. My bf described it as tasting healthy and not oily and heavy like some places. This Cambodian food tastes true to its origin yet elevated western. The papaya salad was refreshing with a kick of spice. Not overly fish sauced, not sure what sauce was used but it was good! The spring rolls was so well constructed the cross section looks like art. The sauce is not normal peanut sauce tho, tamarind sauce, so unexpected and unique. The Amok is their best seller and it is a Casserole steamed curry fish dish! Unique but so tasty and packed with fish, comes with nice sticky rice that isnt too sticky. I also enjoyed the sticky mango dessert! Mango was sweet and rice warm with sauce on top. Def recommend to check out on date night to impress with unique Cambodian food and elevated ambiance.

I had the green curry . It came with a swirl of rice noodles, which was my choice instead of rice. It was delicious, not too spicy. Service was friendly. Ambience made me feel like I was in an authentic cafe---clean and Cambodian versions of songs were playing. Highly recommend!

Came here for a quick dinner as we wanted to try something new and it did not disappoint. Service was rather quick. It's modern style inside. And the seats that we had were nice and comfortable. I enjoyed the beef skewers and the amok. Highly recommend. The amok is like a soufflé with catfish that was perfectly cooked. The beef skewers were tender and easy to chew. Did not enjoy the crispy rice on the natang. It was too hard. However, the shrimp and chicken were good. The ginger chicken was just okay. I do like a good spicy heat to my food and all these dishes could have used some chili. Would definitely come back for the amok.

We came downtown for a Friday night dinner. After a bit of wandering we decided to visit Angkor chef. The interior is clean and modern and well designed. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was good and different. Dishes were smaller but that allowed for us (3) to sample quite a few dishes. The group favorite was the sausage trio and the Angkor slaw.

The food is absolutely delicious. The vegetables are fresh and crisp and the meat seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of spice. The service is fast and the meal was served hot. The ambience is nice and modern.

It's been awhile since I've been pleasantly surprised by a restaurant--brava. My friend and I stopped by this place before a concert and ordered the Sausage Trio, Mini Egg Rolls, Pineapple Curry, and Angkor Noodles. The standout was the homemade sausage, how they pack so much flavor into each one is INSANE!!! Kent, one of the co-owners, was our server and was so intentional with the pacing of the food and provided lovely conversation with the history of his passion project. I will absolutely be stopping by again.

I took my work team for holiday lunch at our favorite Cambodian restaurant in Downtown San Jose, Angkor Chef. Dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients by co-owner Chef Channy Chhi Laux. We each ordered a dish and shared with each other. We've had meals here before and have totally enjoyed what we ordered. This time around we had the Lok Lak (Steak and Salad), Angkor Noodles with shrimp, and Salmon with Mango Salad. We ended the meal with desserts that we shared: one called Nom Pkah Chan (a seasonal dessert, lotus blossom cookie with vanilla ice cream), and Jackfruit Rice, sticky rice made with mung bean topped with Jackfruit sitting in coconut sauce. The ambiance is warm with friendly service. Chef Channy's husband and co-owner Kent comes out to greet patrons to ask how their meal was. It's rare to find a Cambodian restaurant, and one that has vegan options. If you're ever in Downtown San Jose, check out Angkor Chef!

This is a very cute little restaurant, and the chef and staff are nice. We came for lunch, and the food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Perfect for vegetarians, vegans, pescatarians, and meat eaters too. We were three people, and we had: Vegan fresh rolls with tasty dipping sauce Amok: Catfish, egg, kale, and coconut milk in a banana leaf bowl Ginger tofu with rice Lemongrass tofu with rice Mango and sticky rice for dessert Each item was beautifully plated, fresh, and perfect amount of spice and flavor. All of them rated 5 stars with us. We also each had a glass of wine with lunch, and all three wines were great and paired well with the food. We'll definitely be back again soon!

Fantastic service and such a great intro to Cambodian cuisine! The mango salad was a standout--it reminded me of Thai papaya salad but had its own unique twist. Light, refreshing, and absolutely delicious! It wasn't crowded during lunch, and we were taken care of right away. Our waiter was so personable and made us feel like family! Such a great experience overall and can't wait to come back!

Pricy little spot. Perfect for a second date (maybe a little to 'spensive for a first date unless you really like the person?) and definitely not for kids. They did accomodate, though. We came during a weekend lunch and the resto had just opened and was empty. We got the Green Curry with Chicken, Angkor Noodles, and Salmon. All were seasoned and sauced gracefully. However, I was perturbed that we agreed to a side of angkor sauce and tuk prahok sauce, which were $5 each, making the salmon entree $10 more expensive. Yes, I can do math without AI! That made the salmon entree a total of $31, and while I wouldn't have minded, the server did not make it clear that each sauce would be an additional $5, and also for $5 I would have expected a larger portion. But what do I know, maybe those sauces are made with the fingernails of ancestors I really don't know, but it was a surprise expense for me.

Angkor Chef is a must visit if you're in downtown San Jose. We had Steak with rice and their rich, savory Angkor sauce grilled to perfection. The Lok Lak was tender and flavorful, and the Beef Skewers marinated in Kreoung Prawlak were smoky and paired perfectly with the green papaya salad. The Sausage Trio chicken, pork, and Twah Ko was delicious and balanced beautifully by the fresh pickles. And the Mango Sticky Rice was the perfect sweet finish. Chef Channy and her husband were both incredibly kind and welcoming hosts, making the experience feel even more special. You can tell this place is built on passion, culture, and love. Can't wait to come back!

I went here with my extended family during their soft opening earlier in the year. Even though the restaurant is small, our party of 6 got seated immediately near 7PM, an hour before they closed. Everybody was friendly and there was a decent amount of people inside. We ordered a lot of things, including amok, beef skewers, plear, egg rolls, green curry, and somlaw machu. After our initial order we got added on some stir fried pickled green mustard with beef and lote cha. Some spelling of the menu items are different from other Khmer restaurants in places such as Long Beach but we still knew what they were. The chairs felt a little bit short and the restaurant had a clean and modern look to it. Service was also quick, with our first items coming in less than 10 minutes after ordering. The beef skewers came in orders of 3, so we got 3 orders. The beef skewers are something that my family almost always orders whenever we go to a Cambodian restaurant. They were on the smaller side and not as good as some other Khmer restaurants, but still tasted good. Steamed rice came in a big bowl. The plear came with some crispy rice that I liked a lot and also some green beans. The plear itself was pretty good. Pickled red cabbage that came with the beef sticks and egg rolls had a hint of mint, which was pretty cool. I'm used to seeing pickled daikon and carrots instead of red cabbage but it still tasted good. There was not much to write home about the egg rolls. The soups that we got (curry and somlaw machu) were individual sized. We asked for some soup bowls so we can share and they accommodated. The curry had tender chicken and a mild taste. The somlaw machu was under the prahok section in the menu and did have a zingy smell, as expected. The amok was my favorite dish of the night. The coconut cream makes it so creamy. The rest of my party expected a bit more of a spicy kick, but I didn't care. The lote cha was good too and I especially liked the sauce. We got a sample of pickled mustard green. It didn't feel pickled enough for me. By special request, they made us sautéed pickled mustard greens with beef (my favorite dish at home). It had a sweet tang to it and it was pretty good. I am used to and like it more acidic, so this was a cool interpretation. Overall I'm happy that a modern Khmer restaurant opened in San Jose and I really enjoyed my experience here. Not only was the food good, but the service went above and beyond for us.

Still disappointed in the flavor profile... Given the location and ambiance +1 I feel like they did not give Khmer cuisine justice. Every dish we ordered lacked umami & flavor bombs. Although the service was friendly, I will not come here again to support. IF you are new to Cambodian cuisine it is worth a try...

San Jose has even more choice when it comes to Cambodian restaurants, and Angkor Chef does the job. I convinced my friend to come here with me. We shared a trio of dishes: 1. Beef skewers - so savory 2. Tuk prahok with beef - get a beer to enhance this, thank me later 3. Somlor machu kreung - I try to get this soup everywhere, and it was full of umami These dishes are Khmer staples for me, and Angkor Chef made them to spec. I was thrilled everything hit the spot, especially since my friend hadn't experienced Cambodian food before. Me: (eyeing my friend) Like it? Her: YES. Me: What a relief! Credit accepted.

Didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised! Small place, nicely designed and decorated. I don't remember the names of the dishes, but they were all pretty great. - sausage trio as a starter - papaya salad - mango salad - green curry - another soup.. - ginger stir fry with beef - steak salad - mango rice - jackfruit rice - mochi (?) type dessert My Cambodian friend gave this a huge thumbs up on the authenticity of the food. The chef took the time to welcome us and even chatted in Cambodian with my friend. The chef was so sweet! The menu items are on rotation and we can't wait to go back and try even more dishes! Service was top notch, friendly, helpful. Public parking lot was close by, too.

This had been on my list to visit and I'm so glad I finally made it by. There are a lot of great looking menu items and it was hard to choose. We started with the mini egg rolls, but there's a great selection of small plates. We then had the Pickled Green Mustard Stir-Fry and the Lote Cha noodles. Both were so good! The stir fry had a great blend of flavors the the noodles were not like anything I've ever had, so tasty! They also come with a great little hot sauce on the side. The restaurant also offers beer and wine selectinos.

Fantastic food, and service. The restaurant is also decorated in a very sophisticated and relaxing style. This is a great place to have a date or a small dinner party. I highly recommend the salmon dishes as well as the sticky rice desserts.

We had to try Cambodian food after reading the reviews and while it was good, I can't say it was amazing with the spices a bit muted. Service was not special or overly welcoming. For someone new to their menu, I would have liked a bit more...here's some favorites. Maybe it was an off day but the service was reserved and the two kept to themselves. The setting was comfortable but a bit cold, too. It's located on light rail corridor so parking was easy off a side street. The red curry soup was a bit watery with chicken, bamboo, string beans and paired with rice. The Amok took several bites to come more to life as it seemed prepared in the banana leaf bowl and reheated. All things considered, it was a decent meal but not necessarily wanting to come back any time too soon. YMMV.

I recently spotted Angkor Chef when my husband and I were walking around downtown. I bookmarked the restaurant to hopefully go for a sit down dinner in the future since the place looked pretty. A few weeks later I saw that Angkor Chef was on Doordash, so rather than wait indefinitely to go in-person I decided to place a delivery order. I'm not familiar with Cambodian cuisine at all and honestly didn't have a clue as to what to get. The description of Lote Cha intrigued me. It was called a traditional Cambodian "street food" noodle dish. I figured it was comparable to Pad Thai. Since it was off their popularly ordered menu, it seemed to be my safe bet. What a unique noodle dish! It's nothing like Pad Thai in terms of flavor and even texture. I've never seen the short pin noodles before, which were cooked perfectly al dente, and the flavor of the sauce was heavier on the fish sauce. I enjoyed it, but it was too fishy for my husband. He loved the taro bites that I got as a side though! They weren't extra crispy as I imagine they would've been if we received them fresh out of the fryer (unfortunate downside to Doordash), but I was also pleasantly surprised by the flavor and texture. I've had taro fries before, but I liked how Angkor Chef cut them thinly into matchsticks. Interestingly the taro bites had a nice sweetness to it that reminded me of churros?! I'm glad I got to try Angkor Chef and explore a different cuisine.

First time trying Cambodian food and it did not disappoint. It's been on my list to try for a while and a little dinner reservation mishap led us here. So glad we decided to stop in and give this place a try to support a local business. We got the natang as an appetizer and the crispy rice was definitely homemade and had a little taste of coconut. With a little lime squeeze on top of the natang and crispy rice, it completed the dish. Steak with their special Tuk Prahok was great and salty and fishy just the way I like it. Pineapple curry was sweet as the pineapple chunks were fresh and did not taste like from a can, but would prefer it to be a little spicier. Both dishes came with a small side of rice that we also topped with natang to really explore all the flavors. This is a great place to grab a nice dinner before heading to some bars within walking distance.

We stumbled upon this restaurant when we had reservations for another nearby restaurant and they were not able to seat us. So we went to Angkor and were not really familiar with Cambodian cuisine. Geographically, Cambodia is located in between Vietnam and Thailand. So, if you love Thai & Vietnamese food you'll love Cambodian cuisine as it is basically a mash-up of these two foods. They did a nice job of redoing the look of the place from the previous restaurant. All of the food was good. The green curry was very flavorful, the salmon was perfectly prepared and we really liked the mango rice dessert. I would have given them 5 stars but they need to work on the front of the house as we had to wait to be seated in what at the time was an empty house. They did however filled up quickly after we arrived. I was unable to make a reservation online as we already had a reservation at the other restaurant but I would highly recommend it. They also need to place a sign in front that says "Wait to be Seated" as there is no hostess stand and everyone that comes in is confused as to whether to stay up front or go to the back bar. They have effectively used every bit of space in this small restaurant but it also leaves no space for waiting guests to stand until a table is available. A bench or some chairs outside would be good solution. The service was efficient but a smile goes a long way. All that being said, I would definitely go back!

It has a calm and pleasant atmosphere with extremely delicious food ñ, as well as the kindest serving team. We will definitely will be coming back!

I didn't know this was in the heart of downtown San Jose until one afternoon! Walking by, I wasn't expecting the authentic Cambodian food to be on the same street as the heavy bar scene in SJ. Walking in, their restaurant was so cute with the modern and light-toned decor and comfortable seating for such a small location. While they had bar seats and several tables, my party of 6 had the misfortune of coming in while there was already a reservation of 8 sitting at the long booth seating. Even though we crammed onto one table, the staff was helpful to bring us another table to combine and spread out to enjoy the meal! The staff was extremely helpful in explaining and recommending the items available. He identified some popular items and explained more of the intricacies of dishes that I never knew! I loved getting to experience the food with him and my friends. We tried many of their popular menu items and my favorite would have to have been the catfish and pearl noodles! The catfish was extremely tender and had so many good flavors. I enjoyed the soft texture and authentic flavors. The pearl noodles had a smokey flavor but the noodle texture was still on-point! They were chewy and famliar. Overall, all the items were great and this spot would be on my recommendation list for Cambodian food!

Super CUTE little restaurant located in downtown San Jose. On a weekday night there was PLENTY of seating to my surprise. Pearl Noodles - The shape of the noodles makes this so FUN, reminds me of pasta Amok - This was delicious, although I do prefer Chez Sovans a little more Jackfruit Sticky Rice - SURPRINGLY good, nice to switch it up from the mango Anyways, I definitely recommend y'all stop by and try them out while you're in the area!

A modern, comfortable and very clean spot. We have a pet peeve about store windows and it sparkles. The beef salad was good. The tomato raised the quality of the salad. It's the little things that make or break the experience.

Food 5 Service 5 Ambiance 5 It has been a long time since I've had Cambodian food as I traveled to the country a few years ago. While visiting San Jose, I was thrilled to know that there were a couple of Cambodian options that I could try once again. I tried my favorite, the papaya salad, also known as the Ngom Lahong and was pleasantly thrilled that it was just as great as I remembered. It contained the fresh basil and the sliced papaya that was chilled and in the delicious dressing. For my main dish, I tried the Ku Tev Cha which I think the best way to describe. It would be something very similar to a Pad Thai as most people would know as it contains the sprouts, rice noodles and peanuts. The tofu was well cooked and very complementary to the noodles. Our server was a young Cambodian woman that was very very nice and the restaurant was very clean with a nice, modern decor. The menu had a lot of options not only meat eaters, but vegetarians as well. My friends had tried the steak salad, which was probably the best pieces of meat I've had in a long time and my vegetarian friend ordered the green curry that tasted as delicious as it looked. They had never tried this type of cuisine before, but were so grateful and appreciative that I brought them out to try something so delicious & different! This place is definitely on my list whenever I come back to visit! Go try it now!

I am generally the kindest person and will give the best reviews ever but this is the first time I am writing such a review . I'll give this place negative stars if I could . We sat in the restaurant for 20 mins and no one came to offer us water or even give a menu . The folks were busy cleaning tables and talking to everyone . Then just as we decided to leave , a couple came in and they were offered water and a menu at once . This is the first time I have faced such racism . The lady in charge said sorry but I wonder how she missed seeing seeing us sitting there for 20 mins that too with a kid . I will never come here ever !!

Second time here! Still great service and food. Tried the Salmon cabbage salad with glass noodles and that was the right selection for a hot day! So good! My friend had the mango salad with salmon. Salmon was great!

Nice people Kent and Channy. They alone deserve a 5 star, but I save those for when the food truly blows me away. The food here is was solid as expected from a Cambodian restaurant. All items were cooked well and not too overdone. Flavor was decent, I would definitely come back and try more and hope they can blow this up to a 5!

This has become one of my favorite restaurants in downtown San Jose. The food is delicious and fresh. Lots of different options of any body. I have tried a good amount of the menu and haven't been disappointed. A great starter is the Plear or Tarobytes if you are looking for a good entry way. The Amok is fantastic too! Of the meat lovers the sausage trio is a great opener! The service is great! The owner and chef is great and her family recipes are yum! She also has a great book about her and her Mother surviving the Cambodian genocide[ I would also recommend. Everyone is friendly and great. The ambiance could be both business, friends or date night. Can't recommend this place enough! Come and visit! Note: this has become a default place I now bring visiting friends and family and they have all loved it

After trying my cousin's husband's bok lahong and absolutely falling in love with it over the Thai style som tum, I was delighted to find a Cambodian restaurant not too far from home. Bok lahong is a rather frequent staple in my household, and I'm proud to stay I've received the Cambodian stamp of approval from my cousin's husband's family. Nonetheless, I made a decision to try Angkor Chef this evening to taste other Cambodian dishes. My table ordered the 1) sausage trio 2) bok lahong and 3) amok. The sausage trio was delicious. The smallest of three was on the savory side with the two larger sausages featuring notes of either lemongrass, or something of similar profile. They were moist! Pairing it with pickled vegetables was a nice touch of acid to cut the savory, fatty-ish nature of the sausages. The amok was a hit. Catfish had a clean taste. Presentation was alluring, arriving at the table carefully nestled in a banana leaf. Notes of coconut greeted me when the dish arrived to the table, however I was pleasantly surprised to taste only mild notes of coconut. I'd order this again. The bok lahong was decent, though I prefer mine with more acidity. This version is very prahok forward. Not bad, just not entirely what's preferred for my taste buds. I love prahok, but a touch more acid would do the trick. Now on to quality of service, I'd certainly say subpar. My table was served directly by the Business Manager, Kent, and the experience was certainly not desirable. He started with a greeting of "hello boys" followed by a failure to check in on quality of dishes, no water refill until the table was practically cleared, and then slamming the late-refilled cups of water on to the table. Excuse me? I'd rather DoorDash the meal. The chef, however, was more hospitable than the server. She delivered extra red chili to the table, and was friendlier than Kent. I'd take her service and tip her beyond 20% any day. Overall, food gets a 4/5. Service sits at a 5/5 for the chef, and -1/5 for Business Manager. Let's work on decorum toward paying guests.

I miss home, so I wanted something that reminded me of the wonderful flavors of Cambodia. This spot didn't disappoint! While it's not my grandma's cooking, I still loved the flavors. It was nostalgic and made me really happy. The Teuk Prahok made me the happiest because of the fermented fish flavor and the mixed veggies in the sauce. The salmon plear exceeded my expectations. The amok was a bit milder than I remember, but it was still delicious. Service was great - no complaints. The owners were very kind and welcoming! The restaurant was quiet with traditional Cambodian songs in the background so it was very comforting for me. If you've never had Cambodian food, please please please go here!

I wanted to go someplace during the SJ Dine Downtown event, which invites restaurants to showcase their foods through a multi-course menu, a dish deal or discount. Ankor featured a Khmer Ceviche and rosé. The ceviche composed of crumbled poached salmon, green onions, red cabbage, tomatoes, and peppers. The sauce was made from fish paste and other aromatics, and then served with fried vermicelli rice noodles. Together, the dish was well balanced freshness, funk and texture. I also ordered the Amok and pearl noodles. The Amok was delicious, a national dish of Cambodia. The dish was topped with flakey coconuty cat fish, which sat on top of a red curry sauce base. I was pleasantly surprised that kale was in the bottom to catch all the juices. All of these layers were wrapped in banana leaves, which gave a light grassy and sweet aroma. Lastly was the pearl noodles. It has similar flavor to chow fun, but the noodles had an elongated pearl kind of shape. It's not as tasty compared to chow fun, and I like would prefer more seasoning since the pearl noodles are thicker and less surface area. Service was excellent and the server has lot of knowledge about each dish and how it's made. We also enjoyed the ambience: simple, modern and clean. We were seated by the window. There's not many Cambodian restaurants in the area. If you like Thai food, but want to try something different, then this place is a way to have a new culinary experience. I recommend!

This evening I could've had a lot of things, Latin, Burmese, Japanese, Korean, Tawainese, Italian, French, Peruvian, or British. But guess what I'm having? Cambodian cuisine in the South Bay Area. What do you know about Khmer cuisine? And the decor looks modern, slightly elegant, and warm in here. I know exactly what I wanted. This is the certified Angus Beef and Tuk Prahok sauce. It was full of umami. It really did taste like I was in Angkor. This takes me back to the first time I had this dish in Santa Rosa. This is a new, innovative, and different interpretation of one of my favorites. I liked how they gave me the option, to pair it with Cauliflower Rice, and it was a good touch. I also never had a Fentimans Victorian Lemonade, and I had to get it. It is so refreshing. And I didn't know I was going to get some Dessert after, until they offered me to take a look at some of the items. And I had to finish it, with that Jackfruit Sticky Rice. So exotic. It was out of this world. I was thinking this was going to be a 3.9-4.3 stars, but I give this 4.4 stars. That's a high score.

Clean, Comfortable and Modern. Angkors Chef's gift is in the traditional food and dedicated execution carried from Cambodia to Jan Jose by Chef Channy. There's a complexity of flavors to each dish and yet they never overlap from dish to dish. Even the two salads complemented each other and we found ourselves immersed in the flavors of Cambodia as more dishes arrived. Chef came out and met with one of our guests, they spoke together (in Cambodian) and she was very enjoyable to chat with. Kent and the staff were all helpful, knowledgeable and a pleasure as well. We will be back because we will remember this meal for years to come. - It's a must try in downtown San Jose

Service and ambiance are top notch. Place is located in San Jose downtown so parking can get a little tricky. I am super impressed that they have a vegan menu. We ordered the vegan mini egg roll and I ordered Lote Cha as main dish. Both were yummy. Even the non vegans loved the egg roll. Others on the table ordered meat dishes and they found everything delicious. In the end we got some taro based pudding and mango rice for dessert. The desserts were so good, I might be back just for the desserts.

Quiet and small restaurant with modern decor. The waiter was very attentive and explained every dish we ordered to us. The dishes were well thought-out and flavorful, pleasing to look at too.

I got my food to go and i wasn't much impressed by the food however the worst part is that you charged me overpriced without my knowledge. I clearly paid $1 tip for a small to go box. Then I got my online receipt says tip charged $4.80. This is a fraud. You do not practice your business like this. I travel a lot and I eat out frequently at local restaurants and sometimes to go. I would leave generous tips 20%~25 for a full dine in but not to go for one small order. Nothing fancy and nothing special about the food. What it gets me is that you charged me for tips that not even i authorized.

My first time trying Cambodian food, and it did not disappoint! The service was great, and every staff member was very attentive. The ambiance is great despite being next to a busy bar. The shrimp noodles had a great flavor, and the amok had the texture of steamed egg, with a warm and comforting taste. Would definitely come back!

Best Cambodian food in town, MUST try the best service, and food. Recommended to everyone.

I came here with a couple of friends to try out their special during restaurant week, salmon and mango salad. We also ordered the pearl noodles and our food was ready within 10 minutes. The salmon was cooked well, but needed seasoning. Luckily, the green mango salad carried the dish in terms of flavor as it was spicy, sweet, umami, and sour. This dish was best when everything was mixed together. The pearl noodles were just ok-- they were firm, but lacked chew and there was a bit of filler in the portion. The dish also needed salt and acid. The man that helped us up front was very accommodating, offering us seats while the food was being made. He also made sure to check on us even though we were eating outside, and he even gave us a jar of this place's chili sauce when we asked for more for the food.

First time trying Cambodia food. We got there early since we didn't have reservations.the natang stater was pretty good. A small rice cracker topped with a combination of chicken shrimp and coconut milk. We tried the Ku tev cha,somlaw machu,and the angkor noodle. Everything tasted great. I can't describe the taste of the somlaw. I've never had such a combination of hot and sour and creamy. Different but good.
