My friend and I decided to have early dinner here. Haven't been back for awhile and I was ready to check it out again.
First thing, I know exactly where the "angry" in the name comes from... the woman who was working in the front was completely rude, unfriendly and annoyed at helping us.
My friend and I walked in. The woman was putting napkins and utensils together. She heaved a huge sigh and walked to the counter to help us. I asked if they were out of anything, since that was a problem last time. She said, "I don't know. She'll have to tell you." Ooookkkaaayyyy.
My friend ordered the Big Hoss sandwich with potato salad and I ordered a plate with brisket, tri tip, tomato pie, mac and cheddar and sweet teas. I paid. Woman said nothing. I asked for cups. She said she'd get them. Annoyed with me, again.
The other woman brought out our food. Was friendly. Showed us where to get bbq sauce. We dug in. Food was delicious. We tried three sauces...the white(almost like a spicy, tangy ranch), the Carolina gold(mustard based, I guess) and the Sassy(spicy, sweet bbq). We decided on the Sassy. It had good flavor and I like it with both the brisket and tri tip.
The brisket was so tender, it fell apart. The tri tip was a little pink inside and had really nice flavor. I'm totally intrigued by the tomato pie. It's a strange tomatoey/basil taste, but savory and buttery, too. The mac and cheddar is just that. Mac with cheddar. Very clean. Tasty. My meal came with a piece of cornbread that was light and fluffy. Yum.
The Big Hoss sandwich was a hit, too. My friend added a little Sassy sauce to it and scarfed it down. We decided the pimento cheese should be served with crackers as a side. It was so good!
We finished. I needed a to go box, but was really afraid to ask for one. My friend and I joked about it, but I finally got up the courage to ask that woman for one. She was working on her utensils again. I said, "Excuse me. Can I have a to go box, please?"
She stiffened and turned to look at me while rolling her eyes. She was beyond annoyed with me. She sighed. Got up and got me a box. I thanked her. She said nothing.
My friend watched this woman's behavior in amazement. He burst out laughing. I just wanted to get out of there. We got our stuff together and started to leave. I wasn't planning to say anything, but a whole other personality came out of that woman when she smiled and said thanks to us.
So weird!
The food was delicious.
The service was beyond bizarre.
