A bustling old fashioned cafe style Vietnamese cafe where food is the main event. We went for dinner three days in a row and each time we had the papaya salad - hands down the best we have ever had. We tried 2 types of pho - beef rib, meatball, the bun with grilled pork and beef wrapped in betel leaf, the specialist dish with the betel beef wrap, the specialist dish with prawn wrapped in marinated beef. Everything was super tasty, bursting with favour and authentic (at least by our standards)!

Google
Anh Dao at 383 Spadina Ave. One of the best self wrap served up in downtown Toronto. We had the beef & shrimp wrap served with plenty of fresh herbs, cucumber, bean sprouts, bun etc. The Phò Suòn Bò (Beef Rib Pho) was also pretty good but after having the self wrap dish ... we were pretty full so we will have to come back and have the pho as a main dish. And the staff ... there are few places in chinatown that has good staff but this place by far bests the Toronto standards. #ahndao #foodie #toronto #chinatowntoronto

Nice and strong Vietnamese cold coffee. Not too sweet. I liked they gave complimentary shrimp puffs to start. One size pho bowls with rich, flavorful broth. Brisket was a little on the tougher side. I wish there were some more other options for ingredients like at other pho places, e.g. tendon. Lemongrass chicken had a nice grill and the onion and oils got into the rice real nice. I really like them using steel bowls for the pho. I could recommend using glassware for water glasses/pitchers instead of plastic. This place has been a mainstay north of Chinatown for some time. Modern, culturally inspired decor. 10% cash discount. This place is pricier for pho compared to other GTA places that are much better but for the area, I understand. However, the chicken rice portion is very generous. Overall, I liked it. I would return if in the area.

Google
The food is great, I order grilled meat small but enough for two small girl. But they stock too much thing on one dish which make the grilled meat and veggi touch the table, and we have to wait more than 10 minutes. That’s stink ! There pork ear smelt bad too. But the rest are fine seasoning is perfect !

Google
So far my new favourite place for pho. It was delicious and comforting. I got their house special pho that comes with rare beef, beef brisket, tripe and beef balls. Great portion sizes. The meat quantity was generous. The fresh shrimp rolls were very filling.

Google
The pho and bun Bo hue were perfect. Exactly how we like it. It’s on the pricier side but it taste great. Highly recommend!

Google
The beef pho was good. It comes out really hot so you gotta wait otherwise you’ll burn ur mouth like I did. The fried egg dish wasn’t my favorite.

Google

Yelp
I'm back at Anh Dao, my absolute favourite pho spot downtown. I usually get the N13, the Bun Bo Hue, which is now the N12 since they revamped their menu (meaning price increases). At least this time around, they're giving out a plate of shrimp chips to each table, which is a nice addition. As for the food, my Bun Bo Hue did not disappoint. I asked for no green onions this time, and they were able to accommodate that. Great meal, and I'll be back once I'm craving it again.

Yelp
I ordered the pho with rare beef and beef balls. It's my favourite thing to order and the flavour was good. I also ordered the avocado smoothie. My sister ordered the chicken and rice plate which was flavourful as well.

Yelp
Go to viet food on Spadina. Fast service. Tight space but makes it up through great food. Weekends they have a pho special ;)

Yelp
The interior was cozy and service was decent, but the food was just so-and-so. Banh xeo and pho were just alright. There are better Vietnamese restaurants in the area.

Yelp
I've been going to Anh Dao for years, even before they upgraded the restaurant. The food quality has been great, consistent and flavourful each time I've come. Staff are always quick and efficient. Love coming here with friends and family!

Yelp
This place has been on my list for a while since I frequent the restaurant across this resto so often that I see it outside the window haha. I have been here a number of times now and I usually order the same thing (vermicelli with spring roll and grilled beef wrapped on betel leaf) Quality and quantity are very consistent. The only downside is that they take cash only. I do not normally eat Vietnamese food outside since I eat at home. I do recommend this as one of the places that I would go to for Vietnamese food though. The environment is like other Vietnamese restaurants but with a more upgraded version (great art)!

Yelp
Anh Dao has been hyped up as having the best pho in town, and it certainly lived up to that hype. The broth was incredible, light yet deep with flavor and umami. The beef was also delicious and not too fatty, and the rice noodles were the perfect texture. The pho was so good I didn't even need any of the sauces on the side, and the sprouts added the perfect crunch. I can't wait to come back here!

Yelp
The foods are delicious and staffs very friendly. The food is authentic and taste amazing. The food arrived really quickly and was hot to eat. There was great customer service and the place is clean.

Yelp
Coming here of course you have to try their speciality. I appreciate the construction they did, now it has air conditioning and the walls have beautiful art painted. This is my second time coming and we got the betel beef wrap leaf. It comes as a big platter with vermicelli, the beef and veggies. Everything was tasty and fresh. You wrap your own fresh rolls. It was delicious and very unique. Not something you can get at other Vietnamese restaurants. A small platter fed two people and we were super full. We also got the fried spring rolls and they were also very tasty and fresh. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Anh Dao is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Toronto. It is a family owned and its been around over 30 years. The food at Anh Dao is authentic. Taste like it would in Vietnam specifically Saigon. The papaya salad is fresh and so good. The pho is a bowl of goodness. The vermicelli is so hearty. Bo La lot is one of my favourite viet food to eat and it's rare to find in the city. I knew I had to get it. The service is average. When you go to a Vietnamese restaurant you're not really looking for service but for the food. The vibe is cute. I like the murals painted on the walls. It's very colourful and vibrant.

Yelp
We came here for lunch and was not disappointed. I was craving for Vietnamese foods for awhile. My boyfriend and I shared pork egg rolls. He decided to try grilled lemongrass pork with banh hoi, and I ordered bun bo hue. Also, I got ca phe sua da, aka Vietnamese coffee. The pork egg rolls were fried perfectly and so meaty. My boyfriend said he never had egg rolls that like that and he was very pleased. My bun bo hue was so flavorful. One note I've for them would be don't slice the cha so thin because they disintegrated in the soup. I like my cha to have some bite to it. My boyfriend was very happy with his choice. To be honest, I did not expect they would give him rice paper to wrap the banh hoi and meats. They also gave him a wide range of vegetables to eat with his dish. The meat was marinated perfectly. He loved it. Overall, this place offered authentic Vietnamese foods. If we were ever back to Toronto, we would definitely visit this place again.

Yelp
A very good meal at a very good price. Being near Chinatown there are many affordable options, but if you're looking for some Vietnamese food this place is one of your best options. We went on Friday night, so it was pretty busy, but we were seated right away and our service throughout the whole night was great. There's definitely a bit of a university crowd that attends so it can get loud but not to the point where it's bothersome. They have a large menu with a variety of options, so if you're looking for pho, vermicelli, or rice and meat then you'll be pleasantly surprised. I got the barbeque pork and lemongrass chicken and both were delicious. The lemon grass is more of a unique taste so if you've never tried before, I would highly recommend it. The portion sizes will always leave you full and whenever I go here I'm always happy after my meal. Definitely recommend this place if you've never been and don't forget to bring cash because they don't take card!

Yelp
When we visited it on a Friday night, the place was really busy but we got seated pretty fast. I tried their house special pho and it was ok. The soup wasn't rich at all, and it really tasted like bland water with a bunch of seasoning. It's one of the most disappointing pho we had. The other thing was the restaurant's atmosphere didn't feel really welcoming. Once you get seated, the servers don't try to serve you. They come back in like 10 minutes or more to take your order. During our visit, one thing that really disappointed us was when the server took all the condiments away from our table to another table without really talking to us, and this is during when we were still eating. If you are looking for good pho, definitely try out other places near Chinatown.

Yelp
First time at Anh dao after many, many recommendations from friends! Was very satisfied with the portion sizes vs. price of both the appetiser and my main dish. I couldn't even finish my vermicelli because it was so large! Everything was very delicious -- the fresh rolls came with a peanut dipping sauce that was so addicting I always get Bun (vermicelli) at Vietnamese restaurants and this is hands down one of the best ones I've had in the city. The meat was tender and the sausages had a nice smoky flavour to it, which balanced out the sweet/sourness of the fish sauce. I went at around 6pm so there was a bit of a wait but it wasn't too long. Food came out quick and service was friendly. Would definitely come back again. If you're looking for a quick and filling meal, this is definitely the place to go!

Yelp
The food was great! The waiters were pleasant. The decorations were as plain as it gets, just the way we like it. We came in at 12:30 PM on Saturday and found a table for 5.

Yelp
Anh Dao's recent decor update is really attention grabbing, from the street the green and pink signage really draws you in and the new murals on the walls is fun and welcoming. The restaurant is medium sized with small tables and maybe able to seat 30-40 people only so there is usually a wait when it is busy. But it is totally worth it. The service is great and attentive, all the staff seems to know Vietnamese too if that is preferred. Order: - Pho Ga - Sinh To Sau Rieng The Pho Ga was great, not too salty at all and just good broth and flavour from fresh ingredients. It was clean, light and there was lots of veggies to go with it. The noodles tasted fresh and texture was as expected. The condiments were great, especially the pickled chilis with garlic (I might have fished out all the garlic slices). The Sinh To Sau Rieng was not too sweet and the texture was sublime, they blended it perfectly to have a consistent smooth texture and the durian they used was fresh and naturally sweet. Just good old custard-ly goodness. Will be back... with reinforcements!

Yelp
This is honestly a Toronto staple. They have been around since 1983, close to when my parents arrived to Canada from Vietnam. I brought my dad and mom to eat here recently and you know the food is good when your viet parents say it's good. Anh Dao is also very unique in comparison to other viet restaurants. Though they have common dishes like Pho and Bun Bo Hue, they have certain hard to find dishes like Banh Xeo and Bo La Lot. I highly recommend the Bo La Lot special, it comes with so many herbs and vegetables, something that you rarely see these days but is so common in Vietnam. Can't say enough good stuff about this place. I take friends and family here all the time when they come to visit Toronto.

Yelp
Extensive menu and cash only (ATM inside). We only had USD cash so I inquired if they accept and they said it's one for one. The exchange rate is $1.00 USD to $1.35 CAD so our $80 bill meant a $27 difference which ended up being a very generous tip. I ordered a vermicelli bowl with egg/spring roll and grilled pork and my dad, uncle, and cousin ordered rice plates. My vermicelli noodles were broken and seemed undercooked and dry that I didn't really enjoy the dish but it was a very generous portion. Being Vietnamese, I've had plenty of vermicelli bowls but this one missed the mark in terms of flavor. The others enjoyed did enjoy their rice dish and said it was the meat was flavorful. It seemed to take awhile for our dishes to come out; probably 20-30 minutes. It was late afternoon and all the tables began to fill up as we headed out. Service was lackluster.

Yelp
A small place in Chinatown. I'm not a pho person but this place seemed to be popular among pho lovers. Food portion was big - I did not expect my Papaya Salad came with such a huge plate. Price point wise was pretty reasonable for a restaurant in downtown. Food (quality, presentation) - 4/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - NA/5 Ambience (interior, cleanness) - 3/5 Service - 5/5 Value - 5/5

Yelp
The moment you walk into this busy Viet restaurant is a casual vibe, with a very fragrant smell. An aroma of smoke and fish sauce lets you know that you're in for a real Vietnamese treat. The portions are gigantic and are absolutely delicious. Banh Xeo: The fried crepe was crispy filled with bean sprouts and with chosen protein (shrimp). The shrimp taste carried throughout the pancake and would recommend, one portion may be too much for two people. Ga Nurong Bun: The vermicelli was of the thin rice noodles, fish sauce was flavourful and really elevated the entire dish (as it should). The grilled chicken was tasty and charred nicely, very aromatic, very mmm. Next time I'd try something else, especially the spring roll and grilled pork.

Yelp
AMAZING! Not only was the service phenomenal but the quality and price of the food is unmatched! Went here with a group of friends (5) and we ordered so many dishes: banh xeo, large spring rolls, medium bo lat lot, grilled lemongrass chicken on rice and there was a lot leftover! Great place to grab a meal with friends or family - however, if you're in a large group make sure you come early because the wait time is long

Yelp
Been wanting to check out Ahn Dao ever since I saw it on BlogTO so I brought my friends here for dinner. We all got pho and I got specifically the pho dac biet with the variety of beef. The broth was so flavourful and rich - slightly on the salty side but so warm and pleasant. There was so much soup and a lot of rice noodles too (to the point I could not finish it). There was enough meat for me. It came with the classic side of basil, bean sprouts, mint, red peppers, and saw leaf herbs. I put a bit of hoisin sauce and sriracha and it was delicious. I felt Ahn Dao has better pho than Pho Tien Thanh by a stretch. One of my friends had her first ever bowl of pho and she loved it so much! Even the tripe! Ahn Dao really is a gem that's lasted for generations and will hold a special place in my heart (or moreso belly)! I will totally return to try their other offerings.

Yelp
I was in the area on a Tuesday afternoon and to my surprise this place was poppin'! My mom was the one who actually requested we dine here since it was the one of the first places she knew of when she first immigrated here nearly 30 years ago. It was, of course a different experience but still an extremely pleasant one. I was expecting mismatched chairs and aunties behind the counter, but it was very vibrant with young staff and Pop Smoke playing. For a random Tuesday afternoon, the restaurant was very busy, with tables turning pretty rapidly. The food was great with lots of authentic flavour. The aroma from this place was crazy. It's one of those scents that's so strong that it leaves an indent in your memory (in a good way). We all know the price to go out for a meal in Toronto is absurd nowadays ($17-$19 for majority of plates), however the portions were large enough to take home leftovers. Overall, it's a great restaurant for a filling meal with quick service and good conversation!

Yelp
$16 R7 lemongrass chicken was good, pork was ok, would've liked a lil bit more veg and rice
google avatar

Sharon Y.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food with very generous portions. Everything I've had here has been been delicious. They never skimp on the portion of meat and it's some of the best vermicelli in the city. Although the price is a bit higher than other viet places in Chinatown, the quality of the dishes makes up for it.

Yelp
We visited this spot as we were craving some pho after work, and a friend recommend us to try this place out. Upon arrival, the restaurant is quite packed and lucky for us we only had to wait ~10mins for a table. The restaurant has a variety of classic Vietnamese dishes and drinks. We tried: 1. Vermicelli Grilled Pork & Spring Roll This dish was served with its usual fixes - cucumber, peanuts, bean sprouts. We found the portion quite large, and the pork flavourful. 2. Chicken Pho This soup broth was flavourful and aromatic. It was a little bit on the saltier side but the fresh veggies helped balance it. We found the chicken pieces pretty tender pairing well with broth. This spot is a great place to get some traditional pho and Vietnamese cuisine dishes. The service is a bit slow, but the people are super nice and friendly. We would definitely hit this spot up again if in the area. P.S they only accept cash @alot.eats

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. I've tried several pho restaurants downtown and this one hits the spot. Went with a group of 4 and we ordered fried spring rolls, house special soup, durian, and their specialty betel beef wrap leaf. The spring rolls were alright. But everything else we ordered was just so delicious. My friends all ordered the durian shake too which they liked! The pho broth was tasty and aromatic. The meat was fresh and delicious. They put a generous amount of both noodles and meat. There's only one size for the pho and I couldn't finish it all. That's alright though because I had leftovers for later! The betel beef wrap leaf was soooo tasty and fresh. It looks like mini beef sausages and you wrap it in rice paper. Comes with lettuce, mints, and vermicelli. The special house sauce is pineapple based with some kind of fish sauce mixture. I found it refreshing and a nice change from the usual fish sauce. Good enough to make 10 wraps. Excellent addition to pho. Would definitely come back. Already craving it and it's been less than 24 hours!

Yelp
Pre Covid vermicelli $9 Post (well, Covid still going pretty strong) $15 Huge price hike. Plus an automatic gratuity charge. And..... CASH ONLY (aka we don't want to pay tax/rent a debit card reader) And; stomach wrecked for hours post meal. They have an ATM machine; where u can pay even more for machine/bank fees. WEAK.

Yelp
I knew I just couldn't leave Toronto without trying their pho. I don't have a refined taste for pho but I've tried a couple of pho in NYC, so I can base it on those experiences. I went here based on a friend's recommendation and although it didn't seem like one of those top pho places in Toronto - it was still good pho and I can even say it was better than most of the places that offer pho in NYC. It tasted like they actually put some effort into the pho broth unlike the watered-down stuff back in NYC. Of course, you can get really good pho in NYC (i.e. Madame Vo) but you'll be paying atleast 2X the price, so with that being said, this place offers good value for the quality!

Yelp
Really enjoyed my experience here! My friend got the Vermicelli and I got their specialty which is Mon Bac Biet. The pork sausage was amazing, very flavorful (sweet and savory). The staff was very kind and showed me how to make my rolls. The sauce they provided was a great addition to the food. Highly recommend this place! Great flavour and value!

Yelp
Delicious authentic Vietnamese food for a reasonable price. Great service, Bill includes 10% tip but feel free to tip on top. Cash only so make sure you have a few bills on you. Came here for dinner and everything was so fresh and delicious. The pho comes in one size and is very big! They're very generous with their noodles and beef. We got the shrimp and pork crepe and it was amazing! It comes super crispy and with lots of leafy herbs and lettuce wraps. Suggest cutting the crepe up and wrapping it in lettuce along with a bunch of the herbs. Add some sriracha for heat and dip in the fish sauce right before devouring it! We also got the betel leaf beef skewers (small sz comes with 8 pieces!) which comes with a large plate of rice paper to wrap them in. This was also delicious. The way you eat it is by wetting the rice paper wraps with some provided water, put a bunch of the leafy herbs provided, stick a piece of beef in there, wrap it up, dip it in the sauce, and enjoy! Lastly their avocado smoothie was really good! Very smooth, full of avocado flavour and butteriness without being overly sweet. Service was also very friendly. Highly recommend for a casual bite.

Yelp
This place really hit the spot to fulfill my Vietnamese cravings!! The bbq grilled pork was sooooo nicely marinated and their portions are definitely more than what I anticipated for the price of $12. I was soooo full but I kept wanting to eat because the flavours and the juicyness was just chefs kiss. The only caveat is that it is cash only. Also was really craving a sunny side up egg with my rice dish but egg was an additional $2. Steep for a regular single egg but so worth it tbh lol
google avatar

Lucia L.

Yelp
I've been ordering from here through Ubereats for the past few months. Their portions are really big! Especially the amount of meat they give you. I feel like Vietnamese places these days always skimp out on the amount of meat they give. I've ordered the spring roll and pork vermicelli as well as their specialty grilled lemongrass pork skewers set which comes with tons of different vegetables and rice paper to make your own rolls. Their amount of meat per skewer for the set is actually a lot, their smallest size is 2 skewers and I thought that wouldn't be enough for two people so I ordered 4 skewers but it was way too much. 2 skewers would've been perfect!

Yelp
Authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown! We came on a Friday night, and it was bustling! Great choice for authentic Vietnamese dishes that are not Pho/BBH. We ordered the Pork and Shrimp Banh Xeo as well as the Medium Bo La Lot platter for 3 people to share. Everything was fantastic! The Banh Xeo was super crispy even at the end of dinner. The Bo La Lot platter's grilled meat is super flavorful and fresh. Accompanied with rice paper and fresh herbs, making bo la lot rolls was a super fun experience and reminded me of being back in Vietnam. Does come with both fermented fish sauce and regular fish sauce for you to dip your rolls in. Cant wait to come back! Note: Cash only, ATM is available inside.

Yelp
I was there last Thursday and I love this place since 20 yrs ago !! Betel Leaf Beef SkewGrilled Pork Sausages

Yelp
The pho used to be too salty here but last week I gave it another try and they improved it a lot! Along with their yummy grilled chicken and grilled pork vermicelli dish, I'd say it's my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Toronto now!! They deserve to get Michelin's Bib Gourmand -- I think they will be on the list within a year!!

Yelp
Ordered take out on Saturday from Ubereats. Prices are high on the app, I imagine it's a lot cheaper dining in or ordering takeout there but I was just so lazy and didn't want to leave the house I've been meaning to try out their Bún Bò Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) and their Bò Lá Lot Bánh (Betel beef wrap leaf) I was so hungry that I forgot to take pictures before my cousin and I started eating. The soup at first bite was way too salty! I had to boil some water to add to the soup and it made it a lot better, the soup was very flavourful with lots of umami but lacked a bit of lemongrass flavour and there was plenty of meat in the soup. I was kind of disappointed that there were no pork blood in the soup. I was so excited when I got to the Betel beef wrap as it smelled amazing when I opened the box. I ordered the one with 10 pieces and portion was very generous with 2 rolls of the Betel beef I'm assuming grilled, underneath the tin foil where the meat lays on is the thin vermicelli noodles, in a separate box there was lettuce leaves, variety of herbs, bean sprouts, pickled carrots, cucumber and pig ear. There was also a bag of small size rice paper, I wish it came with larger rice paper as you can't fit very much in the small ones. I used a medium sized metal bowl and filled it with some warm to hot water to wet the rice paper with and placed it on a plate, added the noodles, lettuce, cucumber, Herbs, pig ear and the Betel beef and rolled it up and dipped it in the sauce provided which is a little sweet and Tart. I would've given them 5 stars if it weren't for the marked up price and the overly salty broth for the soup. I will however see myself being addicted to the Betel beef wrap as I'm already thinking of when I'm going back for that, it's gonna be my new obsession! I also want to try out their pho and banh xeo. I would definitely recommend getting the Betel beef wrap item!

Yelp
As many reviews have mentioned, it is cash only. This restaurant is a no frills, affordable option for Vietnamese food. I got the V7- which was grilled lemongrass chicken and grilled pork (GÀ NƯỚNG & THỊT NƯỚNG). The bean sprouts and veggies in my dish were very fresh, and the chicken and pork marinated perfectly. The service was friendly and fast. The interior of the restaurant was a bit thrown together. There was a plywood board covering the top of the entrance door and exposed ducts. The walls seemed like concrete but were actually a taped on mural of a wall, which adds to its kitschy charm I guess. The only reason I took off a star was because they added a MANDATORY 10% tip on top of the bill, which seems pretty dishonest and misleading. Especially when it is NOWHERE on the virtual menu and not stated anywhere in the restaurant. I am against mandatory tips. They are designed to reward exemplary service; to make them mandatory makes it irrelevant and not a 'tip' anymore. We almost tipped on top of the final bill which would have resulted in a 25% tip... which is absurd. I can imagine many unsuspecting diners doing this. Just incorporate the pricing to the menu item instead for transparency!

Yelp
My parents used to take me here when I was a kid and I always loved the nem nuong platter here!! Recently saw them popping up on my feed and knew I had to go back to get this. My hubby and I decided to get the 12 pc platter and 2 orders of banh xeo. Okay the banh xeo was HUGE LMFAO We were not expecting that... 1 order is definitely good for 2 people. The banh xeo was OKAY ... it was crispy but it was mostly batter and barely any protein (we got shrimp & pork). I wish they added bean sprouts to it :( The nem nuong was and IS HELLA BOMB - just as delicious as I remembered it. The platter came with an abundance of herbs and greens, vermicelli and rice paper for you to roll it up yourself! The meat was perfectly chewy and grilled so the combo with the noodles and greens were amazinggg! I want this again already lolll I ALWAYS order sinh to bo when I go to any pho restaurants and even as a kid I remember Anh Dao would ALWAYS run out of avocadoes... which was the case when I went over the weekend again. Sigh. Some things never change :( LMFAOO Service was good too - our server was really sweet and even helped us move to a bigger table since we ordered too much for two people LOL Definitely recommend Anh Dao if you are craving for some yummy nem nuong! Just keep in mind that they only take cash and it is paid parking since it is located in Toronto on Spadina Ave :)

Yelp
I was set on visiting Beefing with 7 across the street, and decided to check Yelp to inspire me what to get there since I couldn't remember which dish I liked the best (many looks the same) and wanted the to replicate that first stellar experience. But someone said, "Oh there are better noodle shops around..." which piqued my interest so I read more of their reviews which included Anh Dao. I've tried a few Viet spots around chinatown and always open for more recos. First impression, once inside is that the place just had a recent covid makeover and looked fantastic! New flooring, polished concrete look for the walls and an impressive mural that extended the length of the dining room. I ordered one of my fave meals which is Bun with the crunchy fried pork rolls scattered on top, as well as the bbq pork. The bowl was huge and was one of those meals that makes eating later in the evening optional. I also ordered a Viet coffee with condensed milk which came pre-mixed and ready-to-drink. The bun was very good, and nicely layered with the meat and greens on top, then the vermicelli and the bean sprouts on the bottom. A small bowl of the usual dressing accompanied the Bun. Unfortunately, I could have used more of that dressing as the bowl ended up slightly dry by the finish. The other thing that was a miss here are the condiments typical of Viet restos. Similar to eating ramen dining-in where they let you stare at those interesting and sometimes exotic jars and shakers of garlic powder and salts, when I have Viet food I like having extra stuff like the lime, basil leaves and chili peppers around. OK, I do realize that's a Pho thing but if they knew how much I like them... and I needed to ask for hot sauce. Yes I realize that I can ask and get this stuff, but I tend to get half way through my meal as I'm hungry before I realize these things are important and then I get all panicky. Not cool. I will be back at Anh Dao soon to try their Pho, especially since the glowing recommendations on Yelp, how can I not??

Yelp
If your in the Spadina and College/Dundas area, there are a ton of choices to grab a quick serve lunch. Anh Dao has been on my list for a stop for while, and used Google maps to find it, as if you blink, you might miss the entrance. The chef/owner/server gestures to my table-for-one near the entrance. Unfortunately I got some unexpected visitors (flies) likely which came in through the door. But i5s an otherwise clean space where the cooking is done at the back so you know everything is fresh. As the reviews attest, this is a relatively basic, no frills approach to vietnamese dining experience. I'm more into the vermicelli (bun) noodles, dry with lemongrass chicken for $8.50. A very good deal with a side of hosein for an additional $.75. Overall, it was ok for the value. No frills, and no spring rolls or peanuts that I got used at other vietnamese places. The pho at the other tables looked great, so maybe next time I'll give it a shot. -Zuk

Yelp
If you don't know, now you know... the best hidden (sorta) gem downtown for authentic Vietnamese eats This family run spot is known for their DIY fresh rolls with assorted meats and seafood of your choice. My personal favorite is the betel leaf wrapped beef. The beef is so juicy, fragrant and flavourful without being salty. It's served with vermicelli and a huge platter of herbs and veggies. It's a MUST TRY! I love their soups here too and usually get the bun bo hue. However this time I wanted to try something different and opted for the "hu tieu my tho" with rice noodles which is a clear soup with pork and shrimp. It was super light and fragrant and had an abundance of chives to give some extra freshness. I might just add this to my rotation of favorite soups to order Definitely recommend visiting this spot for the perfect bowl of soup and of course their DELISH rolls

Yelp
This is my #1 pho place in downtown Toronto. Their house pho is amazing. Great portions, service, and price ($20 incl tip and tax for pho... for 2023 the price is not bad). I've ordered the house pho twice here!

Yelp
The pho joint has a unique beef broth taste - some might call it sweet but I would say a bit bland. I ordered the house special pho and a lemongrass pork and spring rolls bun cha and tried their Vietnamese coffee served hot. DO NOT ORDER THEIR VIETNAMESE COFFEE. It tasted horrible even with the condensed milk. I don't know how could they get it so wrong with the coffee when you are in Canada. And they charge $7 (w/o HST) for a Vietnamese coffee (I wanted a refund but I figured I just won't go back again if I ever craved for pho or coffee). The spring rolls weren't that great either. They also played their music so loud (deafening) that I have to yell to have a conversation with a friend. It is a CASH ONLY please and they apply 10% gratuity (after HST) to your bill without asking like they are entitled to it when service isn't that great.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and ordered the "bbq beef trio".absolutely delicious! And definitely worth it. It's a small tiny restaurant on spadina, CASH ONLY, and the servers were absolutely great. It did get busy by the time we were done. Lots of walks in take outs happening but it was nice environment/atmosphere. My new favourite dinner go to spot now when I'm downtown!!!

Yelp
Mmm! Spring rolls were delicious and crispy. The food was served quickly and the place seemed to get quite busy. Be aware they accept cash only. Next time we'll have to try the pho!

Yelp
Came here for their nem nuons plate. It was very lacklustre despite this being their specialty. The nem nuon was missing something, and wasn't as fragrant as other nem nuong I've had. The banh xeo on the other hand was really good! They put way too much bean sprouts in it though. The crepe itself was insanely crispy! Would come back for the banh xeo. Can't speak to their pho or other dishes, but would come back to try as this restaurant is decent.

Yelp
A bit expensive but very good proportion. Tasty food. But often need to wait a bit for the food after ordering.

Yelp
Forgot to take pictures of the food! But took some for the environment: nice place decent decoration. You can tell this place is delicious since you walk in and smell the aroma. I ordered rare beef and beef balls pho, it is a bit salty than I expected. And cash only, but they do have an ATM machine.
